To which level serial numbers can be tracked in WM

Hi all,
i just want to know , to which level serial numbers can be tracked in WM. is it posible to tack at bin level or it is limited to sloc level in MM ?

no sir i didn't.
but as per findings i can say that,
serial numbers tracking will be there in MM up to SLOC level.
In WM there is no standard way to go down further (eg: bin level)
but through a development u will be able to keep tracking serials up to bin level
at the same time pls study the concept of STORAGE UNIT
i am using that concept and minimised lot of issues

Hi experts,
Need to track the movements of a material which maintains serial numbers. Need to get data such as PO number, PO line item, Material code, GR number, GRN date, serial number of the item, Goods Issue note, issue date and the text feild.
pls note that the requirement is need to fulfill in a single report,
eg: For the material XYZ we have raised a po namely ABC123
the most important thing in this report is to get the GRN, Serial number and the goods issue note
with the use of ITOB table i can get the serial number and with the use of MSEG can get the GRN
problem is with the issue note
ichecked with IQ 09 T code and using the history tab i can get the movement of that serial number
but when you check the table which maintain data for the movement of serial number, they are maintained in structure and not in a table,
therefore how can i get the required information
pls assist to solve this, thanks in advance

Why can't we track serial numbers and not the apple iD. Since serial numbers can't be reset or erased. ?

Unfortunately it is in both Apple's and your carrier's economic interest to not provide such a feature. One would think that with all the technological capabilities that apple has provided us with that they would be able to do this as well. That's the point here, they are able to do it, probably quite easily; but it's economically beneficial to them if they don't. Remember, Apple doesn't provide the find my iPhone app as a pre-downloaded application, you have to do so yourself. One may say this is for privacy reasons, but there are clearly other reasons as well. So, Apple has no incentive to add such a feature unless it becomes an issue (customers demanding it or other companies providing such a feature). Thus as consumers we need to make this an issue that apple must address. I too lost my iPhone. The fact that Apple doesn't provide a feature such as allowing one to "flag" their device as stolen and thereby preventing that device from being unlocked, reset in itunes, or immediately turned into a tracking device when turned on is pretty frustrating and ridiculous. Apple provides very limited functions in their native find my iPhone app, and yet there are many more features it could provide. I'm aware of apps that provide far more capability, such as preventing shut down, taking pictures, taking audio/video recordings, remote backup, photo capture after failed unlock, call log, sms forwarding, and even constant GPS tracking. My point here is this, Apple can easily provide features that would further enable you to recover your apple device but there isn't an incentive to and there is actually economic incentive to not provide such features. We need to provide them with the incentive to do so, or else it is likely to never happen.

You can't.
Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with a bank or any other savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. This requires action before the device is lost/stolen. If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

How can serial numbers be produced during creating production orders???

In our company，the basic manufacture process are as follows:
1.CO01 Create production order
2 MB1A Goods issue to production order
3 CO11N Produciton order confirmation
4 MB1A Goods Receive
For some finished product with serial number management, when doing MB1A goods receive ,we
will input the serial numbers into the SAP for the first time.That means the serial numbers
was produced when doing MB1A.
But for some reasons,we wish when we create a production order,the serial numbers can be
produced for the finished product.That means we will release a production order,the serial
numbers can be produced for the finished product of the production order,can be auto
produced or by input manually.
We do not want the the serial numbers to input into the SAP until doing MB1A.
What can we do to produce the the serial numbers for the first time after release a
production order?
How can serial numbers be produced during creating production orders?

You should configure the SN profile to allow that the order can be released w/o SN;
but... for the other issues, we have used and user exit that - after saving the order - generates a SN according to a given logic.
We could not fina dan easy way of creating the SN after relasing the order or when doing the GI.

Control of serial numbers in productions (parts and final product serials)

Hi,
We are starting using our production module in SBO 9.0 PL11 and it is all quite messy.
We need to manufacture an item that has a serial number made of parts, some of which have serial numbers. Just imagine a car. The car will have its own serial number, but the engine, the radio and so on will have their own serial numbers. But the cables, tyres, etc do not have a serial of their own.
We set a BOM model, made of every part (with or without serial) and set every line to manual.
Then we place a PO for our parts, and then do a Goods Receipt and enter the individual items' serials.
Then, we issue a Production order for our final product made of all of our parts in the BOM. Then we release it for production.
Next, it all gets messi. If we create a receipt from production, we can issue the serial number of each of our final products.
If we create an Issue for Production, we can choose what serials to pick for production.
Big problem is that we loose all traceability. There is no way (or we can't find it) to know what are the serials of the parts that created the final product.
Not only this, issue for production looks (serial number transaction report-wise) looks like a goods issue, so just a way to decrease your parts stock. And receipt of production looks like a goods receipt. So you just now you received something for production or that you issued it to production, but there doesn't seem to be a link between them. No traceability at all.
Can anyone throw some light into this? I am sure we are doing something really wrong, but can't see what.

3. It sounds really complicated to have to open both receipt and issue to track a single manufacturing operation.
You can use relationship map option to view both issue and receipt for single production.
4. Besides that, what is the exact workflow? I don't quite understand issue and receipt, should I run both independently?
Standard work flow for production order:
1. Create bill of material
2. Create planned production order based on above BOM
3. Make sure required components are arrived.
4. Change planned to released status.
5. Issue components to production by issue production
6. Receive finished item from production through receipt from production.

Available Serial Numbers in my DB.

I have SAP B1 8.8 PL 12.
I need to know what are all the available serial numbers in my system or if have a serial number i need to know if it is available to sell or not.
what tables and flags can i see to get that information. Previously i used to use OSRI tables for that.
But now i am using OSRN and OITL and ITL1 for getting information on serial number but they dont have the available status.

SerialNumbers is a business object that represents the serial numbers and additional tracking information of items. This object is part of the Inventory and Production module.
Source table: OSRN, OITL, ITL1.
Remarks
This object helps you to track items using their serial number. A computer, for example, can be located by its serial number. The serial number can provide additional information regarding a specific item such as its manufacturing date, warranty data, location in warehouse, and so on.
To display the form in the application:
Select Inventory --> Item Management --> Serial Number --> Serial Numbers Management.
Set your selection criteria and click OK. (The form will appear only if Serial Numbers are defined for the selected items.)
To de-allocate batches without actually remove them from stock (based Delivery), update SO so that it has no batches defined - it works this way in the UI and should work in DI the same - if not it should be fixed. Please note that batches allocated by Reserve Invoice canNOT be deallocated this way since we do not support Reserve Invoice updating. Batches allocated by Reserve Invoice can only be drawn to the Delivery/Invoice.

Is there any user Exit by which I can upload serial Numbers of Final product to production orders. There are certain production orders which have serial numbers but many of them don't. Now I need to upload serial numbers on those production orders of particular finish product?

If these order are created with order type having internal number ranges assignement then you can not assign number externally to these orders or else you can give numbers manually or created LSMW for them..

Serial number profile is maintained in the material master for a particular material which flows from IMG > Basic Functions
> Serial Numbers > Determine serial number profiles.
Serial numbers are required for unique identification of the material. before the goods issue happens and the material is despatched, the material is scanned for the serial number.
Serial numbers are maintained for a material which is picked scanning of the serial number. (to see the serial number for a particular material, go to MMBE and enter the material and execute. Click on the batch, Go to environment and say display serial numbers). The serial numbers can be created in IQ01 for a material and the status of the serial number can be seen in IQ03. ECUS represents that the material is sold, ESTO represents that the material ia in stores and AVLB represents that the number is available.
For a combination of material and serial number, there is an equipment number. Th equipment number can be created in IE01 and can be viewed in IE03.

In table SER05, the list of serial number details can be obtained.key the order noin ser05 table, get field OBJKNR, then pass this OBJKNR in table OBJK .

SER01 Serial numbers assigned to a delivery
SER02 Serial numbers assigned to a guarentee
SER03 Serial numbers assigned to a material document
SER04 Serial numbers assigned to an inspection lot
SER05 Serial numbers for a production order
SER06 Serial numbers for Handling Units
SER07 Serial numbers for Stocktaking
SER08 serial numbers for Orders (SD)
The assignment of serial numbers to a production order can be done either via transaction CO02 or at the latest when the GR from Production is made.

Applications with serial numbers from old to new mac

Hello,
I just purchased a new Retina Display MBP as an upgrade to my old iMac.
I have over 200 Applications taking up the bulk of my drive, many of which have serial numbers that I no longer even know of due to loss of original boxes, or what have you.
I am trying to avoid copying all of my content over to the new MBP, I would much rather just move what I actually need to and try to keep it a little "cleaner". So my question is, with a Time Machine Backup of my iMac... Can I plug that into the MacBook Pro, launch Time Machine, and simply drag the last backup's Applications over? Will the ones with the serial numbers run?
Is there a better way to do it?

Use Migration Assistant. You can customise to a certain extent what you transfer over, but it'd be easier to transfer all your stuff that way and then delete what you don't want.

Creation of Recurring Inspection Lots with Serial numbers

Hello,
We have the following scenario at our client :
MIGO_GR is used to create GR for materials with Serial number requirement. The serial numbers can be generated automatically or manually entered on the screen. At this point of time, the Shelf Life expiry date & Next Inspection date are calculated based upon the Production date. The Batch gets created with Next Inspection date, Inspection Lots are created and the Serial numbers are assigned by the system. The stock moves into QI.
The stock is moved from Quality restricted to Unrestricted stock via QA11. The serial numbers are handled by the system or can be managed on screen.
Transaction QA07 (Deadline Monitoring of Batches) is used to create Recurring Inspection. QA07 gives error message IO304 that "Only 0 serial numbers entered instead of 1". The problem is that system doesn't pick up the corresponding serial numbers.
OSS # 497845 mentions that Transaction QA07 can not handle serial number. The serial numbers are very critical to the business process.
Has anyone come across this situation before ? Please suggest solution or workaround. I tried using BAdI "INSPECTIONLOT_UPDATE" & was able to create Inspection Lots with serial number assignment, also manipulated Batch to change the Next Inspection date. The problem is Material Movement (322) Document does NOT get created.
Also tried implementing BAdI as per OSS # 608830 but doesn't give desired results.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

No it is not mandarory if you use this serial control (At Sales Order Issue). If you use serial number control at receipt then serial number is mandatory at the time of pick confirming.

At Receipt:
You maintain serial numbers in inventory and transaction them in inventory for all transactions.
At SO Issue:
You enter the serial numbers only at the time of shipments.
As IB knows the inventory controls it maintains the information accordignly. When in inventory serial numbers can be grouped into one instance as they do not have any serial number. Once shipped, the same instance will be split and is created as a different instance with the serial number.

Since Apple's data base has been accessed by burglars, why can't Apple track serial numbers?

If Apple's data base is accessed by people like this, why can't the same data base be used to track ownership? MOst Apple users sign on to itunes and share their system information. Would it not make sense to share the serial numbers with a reporting system?
If I call into the local Apple store, will I receive any support in locating my systems or will they want to sell me an app to track them?
The data is available for Apple to promote an independent recovery sytem...why don't they? Is there no money in it?

why can't the local Apple store access the national data base and find out where it was being serviced.
They can do that now, if the system is at an authorized service center. It's highly unlikely that a stolen system would just happen to have been checked into a service center at the time you happen to look, though. I also doubt that Apple would provide that information to you just on your request.
As to the report you are referencing, is it coinicidence homes with multiple Apple systems were targeted? In my neighborhood, only homes with more than two Imacs were hit...and only Apple systems were taken.
Such information would not be available to any burglar, nor has there been even a rumor that Apple's internal customer databases have every been compromised. So yes, it was either coincidence or the burglars casing the premises, not at all hard to do. It's even often possible by doing a scan of someone's WiFi network; few people have theirs adequately secured.
Apple is not law enforcement. It's not their job to try and track stolen property; that's the job for the police. There's nothing further to be said.
