Toast 6 Titanium 'Mac OS Problem error 50'

Hi,
After successfully burning a few DVDs I suddenly encountered the error 50 problem. After encoding for 5 hrs Toast 6 Titanium informs me that there is a Mac OS problem. This has happened twice on two different avi movies I was attempting to burn.

  • Toast Titanium/CSS error/DVD upload problems

Does anyone have tips for me regarding Toast Titanium? I'm unable to upload any DVDs into it to burn to my hard drive. I get the same CSS error every time. A PC-using friend suggested I find the hidden files in my hard drive and erase them to clear up the error, but I have no idea where to start.
    Any help is appreciated.

As Len said, Toast will not decrypt and copy a commercial, copy protected video DVD. The only legal (at least unless the movie studios take them to court) way to copy a copy-protected video DVD to your hard drive is with Flip4Mac's Drive-In.

  • Error code -43 for Toast Titanium

What is an Error result code -43 in Toast titanium and how do I resolve the problem?

Apparently the error code is an Apple code meaning file not found.  Google Error code 43 then check links to possibly find a solution.  There are many different posts.

  • Help! Mac OS X error -39 when burning DVD in toast 8; -36 in Toast 7

iMac just over 1 year old - core duo on 10.4.9. Recently, I've been doing a lot more video work using the super drive. When burning recordings from Eye TV 2.3.3 to Toast 8 using LG DVD-R 1-8x blanks, I had two writes to fail and on the third try I got an error -39 (end of file.) I've not had any problems with these disks writing at 2x speed. I tried a GQ 16x DVD-R, which I had been using, and the write completed, but when playing back with DVD player the disc hung and I got a -36 error stating that disc may be dirty or scratched. My discs are fine. Also, I tried a write to an LG disc using Toast 7 and got a can't write error -36. Is the drive dirty, dusty or failing? The DVD writer is the internal drive that comes with the iMac not an external drive - Thanks for suggestions and help.
If the drive is dirty, how do you clean it without opening the case? Can you put the straw on the air duster through the slot and give it a spray safely? Seems like that would work but probably not recommended by tech support.

Those errors are Mac OS X errors.
    -36 ioErr I/O error (bummers)
-39 eofErr End of file; no additional data in the format
I suspect a defective drive. I've tried three different kinds of DVD blanks including a Sony DVD-R and same problems with all. Time to back up my files and take it in.
BTW - here's a list of all the Mac OS X error codes for those who might want or need them.

Hello! Tried unsuccessfully to restore my MBP, running the Mac OSX Lion, to factory settings. I keep getting the "can't download additional components for the Mac OSX Lion" error when reinstalling the OSX Lion. Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

    Hi
Given that your answer to 1. is 'pre-installed' and 3. is 'No', I think the only thing to do is to take it to an Apple store (ideally the one you bought it from) and have them reinstall it for you.
The intended solution in cases like yours is that you should be able to reboot and install even a wiped disk by using Apple's servers over the internet (you do this by restarting with 'command-r' and choosing 'reinstall Lion'). However if this isn't working for you then you need to get the store to do it. Don't let them fob you off with 'go home and try again'. Have them do it in the shop (you're still covered by Applecare warranty so it should cost you nothing save the inconvenience of the trip and possibly leaving the machine there while they fix it).
A reinstall should leave all your own personal data and programs in place.
Note for future: when you get it fixed, first thing to do is buy a cheap external drive and start keeping a backup (either Time Machine or clone with Carbon Copy Cloner).

  • Problem with Toast Titanium 9

I am trying to burn an HD DVD with Toast Titanium 9. It goes through the "Encoding" but refuses to burn the DVD and gives me a OS System error -50. I am using Fotomagico Pro to produce a slideshow to burn on the DVD. I found the error code which is a paramErr (Error in user parameter list). Where is the paramater list and how do I correct this error?

What exactly are you trying to do? Is this a commercial movie that you are trying to import into iTunes? I don't know if you can import movies into iTunes unless you've purchased or rented them from the iTunes store.

  • TOAST TITANIUM & iMOVIE

I CANNOT save a disc image by saving my large video files (21+ GB) using iDVD. It will not allow me to use it (iDVD). Is there a way I can burn such large volumes as a disc image and then burn to DVD with the computer requesting new DVD being inserted as needed? Will Toast Titanium handle this? My movie is only 2 hours and 15 min. or so; doesn't anythiing compress it down to fit on a Dual Layer DVD? All of the music I layed under it and other such things ate up memory. Will Toast solve this problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for everything!

iDVD doesn't care for size, but length.
iDVD allows import of up to <120min

Recently updated my old Mac Book Pro with the Mac Box Set. I am using an external DVD burner. Yesterday I tried to burn a DVD but Toast Titanium 6 will not start. Tried installing the software that the external unit came with (Toast Titanium 9) but the OS will not let it install.  Is any one having the same problem?

  • Using Roxio Toast Titanium with 550 PowerBook

    Hello eveyone.
I recently installed Tiger and am now on V. 10.4.7
My PB has no cd or dvd burner so about 3 years ago, I bought a burner and installed Roxio Toast Titanium 5.1.2. All went OK - until Tiger.
After the Tiger install, I can't get my Toast to open. This means I can use my burner - an ez quest connected with firewire - to burn a cd from iTunes but I cannot burn any of my iPhoto pics.
Anyone had a similar problem? How do I fix it?? Should I just buy and install the latest from Roxio - their Media 8 I think?
    Any help would be great!

Ouch! Well, at least you know you should have.
Is reparing perms a big thing?
It's a big thing in that it needs to get done, say like changing your oil. But like the oil, it's not a big thing to do.
Can I go wrong and make things worse?
    I can't even imagine how. It's a normal, supposed-to-be performed thing.
Open Applications:Utilities:Disk Utility, select your HD on the left side, click on Repair Permissions at the bottom, wait a few minutes until it's finished, quit DU, and you're all set.
Also, I'd guess that you don't run Background Maintenance; I'd strongly recommend it (I like MacJanitor because it's so easy and it's freeware).
Not to worry, this all normal/routine stuff.

  • 10.4.9 and Toast Titanium

Since I´ve downloaded the 10.4.9 update I have problems to burn DVDs with Toast Titanium 6.1.1
    CDs are not effected
The burn process starts properly, but a few minutes before it is finished it stops the job and Toast freezes.
Does anybody else encounter this problem?

Hi Big Tom Cat and welcome!
You should probably update to Toast 7, the latest version of which is 7.1.2. I have had no problems with that.
Or of course go straight to the latest version: Toast 8 !

  • Toast Titanium Issue

I have been working on a project transfer 8 home video VHS tapes to DVD. I completed the project, and burned 4 DVD+R discs using DVDSP3. However, the client needs the discs to be DVD-R, so I told her I could take the 4 discs back and simply duplicate them onto a DVD-R. I inserted the first disc into my iMac, and a blank into an external burner. I opened Toast Titanium 7 and clicked the Copy button. The RAM Cache filled, and began to burn, but about half way through the burn, I received the error message ""I/O Error - Or your disc may be copy-protected - Error Code: -36". I have already deleted the original files from my computer, and the only usuable material I would have left are on the discs. How should I proceed?

Have you tried "Mac the Ripper"?
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14414
Select "Full Disk Extraction" and then open Toast and use the "Video_TS" option with the file it creates. That should make an exact copy of the disk. It's an extra step for the first one, but you should be able to burn the other 3 right after without issue.
    Hopefully this works.
