Toast 7.02 Bug?

Anyone else having this problem? Toast 7.02 using the "ToastAnywhere" Recorder Sharing feature.
Simulation Mode is NOT doing a simulation at all. Laser of shared recorder is live and simulation mode really burns discs when using a shared recorder over a network with ToastAnywhere. If "Simulation Mode" is not really an option when using a shared recorder, then the option should be unavailable or greyed out.
I don't see the point of this feature anyway. You or somebody at the target shared machine has to...
1. start Toast.
2. turn on ToastAnywhere.
3. insert a blank disc when prompted.
Then Toast transfers the entire project to the target machine before it even starts burning anything. Heck, at that rate I can just shoot the files over the network and burn on the target machine myself in the first place.
B & W G3 400 & AGP Gigabit G4 400   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I posted a message at Roxio.com and two days later without a response.
It's not so important an issue to me that I sit on hold waiting for an answer.
My take on it is that it's either a bug or it's supposed to work that way. If it's supposed to work that way, then they should grey out the option as the software seems to ignore it anyhow.
Kinda like when Toast ignores the Buffer Underrun Protection when it's turned on.

  • Why am I getting an "Activation Error" message in PSE 10?  Bug in program??

A little over 6 months ago, my desktop bit the dust.  I set up a new laptop, and loaded PSE 10 onto it.  I have been using it since then.  Today, I downloaded some photos from my SD card into PSE 10, worked fine.  I then opened Editor, and the screen popped up with a big box saying "Activation Limit reached for Photoshop Elements 10."  It also says "This serial number has already been activated on two computers".  Well, that is probably true ... the desktop that bit the dust, and the one I'm on now where the message showed up.  I "re-tried" and it repeated the message.  It tells me that if I click on "Remind me later", my software will stop working in 30 days.
What the hell is going on here?  If Adobe allows activation on two computers, then I shouldn't have a problem because this did NOT happen because I'm trying to install anything ... I only tried to open Editor on the laptop I've been using for over 6 months!  If it doesn't allow 2 computers, what do I do?  I can't "de-activate" the one on my desktop since that computer is toast.  But if that is the case, why is this just showing up NOW?  It should have happened earlier, no?
I think there is some sort of bug in PSE 10 that hasn't been addressed ... or hasn't been addressed on my system.  How do I resolve this?  If it matters, I am using Windows 7, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM,

It's just part of the wonderful world of activation. Just go here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
and start a chat session (the chat window doesn't always appear, but it usually does), and they'll sort it out for you.

  • ITUNES 9.2 NOT SUPPORTING DRAG AND DROP TO TOAST CORRECTLY

APPLE is turning into MICROSOFT!!! The new iTunes update to 9.2 may be necessary for iPhone 4 to work but they missed a whole bunch of things. For example when I drag a track from my iTunes window to the desktop I used to see the file on the desktop with the artwork INCLUDED as the file's icon - now when I drag it the artwork is no longer included in the thumbnail nor when I hit the space bar to preview the track can I see the artwork - something I used a lot when I do my job reviewing music - sometimes 200 track per week so it has ruined my process of working with music files in large quantites.
Also - I always found that iTunes never correctly embeds the text info for each track into CDs whenever I used the program to burn CDs. Often when I am DJing in a club the text info would not show on the CD player screen. I found that Toast would do this perfectly everytime regardless of what model CD player I was working with. So I would grab an entire playlist from iTunes and drop it into the Toast window and simply hit burn.
NOW in 9.2 I can no longer select an entire playlist and drag it to Toast. I have to drag all the files out of iTunes, into a folder where the files sort themselves into random order so I then have to reassemble the playlist track by track in Toast - this takes 10 times longer or more.
By forcing these unwanted practices upon us APPLE is turning into MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I think what people have to realize is as updates come up, code changes. This therefore may not result in best compatibility with other software, and you have to admit, it's not Apple's responsibility to make sure every single other software is ready to work with a new version, it is rather the programmers of Toast, or whatever else you use. Apple needs to worry about their program alone.
Maybe Toast will release an update. Not to say iTunes 9.2 isn't due for further fixes. There are problems with the artwork viewer, artwork, and iPod syncing, but those will come in time. I really think this is just a consequence of Apple revamping their system (for example, to result in quicker performance for cover flow and grid view), and bugs and incompatibilities will always surface from that.
If you have any suggestions you can send them along with the feedback form: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html.

  • Old Drag and Drop With Toast Issue:

I found this link to an old discussion, but it does not resolve my issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9282890#9282890
I burnt two nice LightScribe labels, (nice because I cooked 'em twice for extra darkness, which takes time,) and then, after assuming that if I dragged and dropped my iTunes files to the desk top and then to Toast, as the above thread recommended, that since the files were accepted by toast doing things that way, that things were back to normal. I finished two beautiful CD's (I had a lot of work into the design of the labels,) by burning the music on to the disks. Well, my car cd player wouldn't play them, that is not normal, and I have two beautifully useless CD's which were the product of a lot of time and labor not to mention the cost of the disks... I've always been able to play back using the old process, (without the desktop drag and drop step,) - I'm running an iTunes version way beyond when this bug was supposed to be fixed. What do I do? How do I get back to being able to go directly from iTunes to Toast with successful playback? Thanks for your help with this!

Which problem did you solve: the double click with one tap or three finger drag? I too have aluminum 2008 MacBook, and I found the preferences and accessibility section but seem to fail in finding the right combo of preferences I'm used to or like. Ok, so the three finger drag is good, but click or tab... drives me bonkers!!! Everything was fine for me even after updating to Mountin Lion back in July 2012, but then all of a sudden in October 'my trackpad doesn't work the same. I don't even want to get on the computer anymore, because I'm annoyed and I cannot click on my user account to login with plugging in a mouse or using keyboard shortcut functions. It's hit or miss with my trackpad working, it freezes after awhile, then I have to plug in the darn mouse. I checked my trackpad firmware, it said up to date....I may have to actually start a new discussion??? But to continue venting... Some menu's need one tap, some require double tap... I cannot use one click unless its set to left or right for alternate menu's. Its just bad in my carpel tunnel and frustrating... I've been searching discussions for similar issues and I saw this. I saw you had an older Mac? It's funny how I switched over 4 years to Mac and mine is almost obsolete? I'm afraid to take it in only to pay more money. I guess my real question besides double clicking option would be if other folks with "the older Aluminum" 2008  MacBook models are having similar problems?

  • Can't run Toast 7 Titanium's CD Spin Doctor - please help!

    Hello,
I don't know if I'm posting in the appropriate forum or not, but here goes...
I got a LaCie d2 Dual DVD+/_ RW Drive for Christmas, along with a brand new copy of Roxio's Toast 7 Titanium. I recently installed all the driver software and everything seemed to go well.
However, when I attempted to run the CD Spin Doctor (version 3.0.1), I have run into problems that I cannot explain. I can import audio to my G4 (using my Xitel MD Port I/O USB interface) just fine, but when it comes to editing the waveform, I CAN'T! What I mean is that I can select areas of the waveform, but cannot cut, paste, delete, etc. - anything! Another matter is that at times when I am playing back the file, Spin Doctor will act as it is starting to hang and simply crash.
When I have been using Spin Doctor, I have kept the number of other running applications to a minimum. I have run Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro v 4 to organize my directories and optomize my HD. I'm running OS 10.3.9 which from what I understand is within the requirements for using Spin Doctor. What Gives?
Should I trash the preference file (if there is one) and try again, or uninstall and reinstall the app? Is there something more serious going on? I'd rather not have to upgrade to Tiger at this time or buy another audio editing file, yet checking Roxio's support section offered little in the way of shedding light on the situation. I also downloaded Toast 7.0.2 and tried the updated version of Spin Doctor provided with the toast Update without success.
If anyone else has experienced problems running Spin Doctor, and has found a solution, please let me know. TIA!
    500 MHz G4 (AGP Graphics), MATSHITA PD-2 LF-D110 CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/RAM, (3) 18 GB SCSI Hard Drives, LaCie d2 Dual DVD +/_ RW Drive, Iomega Zip 250 FW   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   1.25 GB SDRAM, (3) 18 GB

I've had similiar crash problems with Toast/Spin Doctor. Installed Toast 7.0 and upgraded to 7.0.2. Spin Doctor crashes all the time, whether trying to simply playback track (LP source input via INport) or trying to add a track or do just about anything else. I have spent 55 minutes on hold with Roxio (no answer), have sent crash reports to Apple (from whose store I bought this application) and have have had no replies. Since it appears Roxio isn't very good on the rebate side, either, guess they don't care about customers. I'm hoping to return this product to the Apple Store where I bought it. This simple application should be a no-brainer to use but I'm tired of doing QA for substandard tech products. GarageBand doesn't quite do what I need to do so I guess I'll have to move up to Final Cut products. Wish Apple would stop selling products whose makers don't provide decent quality, reliability, and support.
    Anybody solve the crash bug?

  • Ugliest bug: under some conditions app crashes when activated from push notification. Any workaround?

    Hi,
I encountered the following serious bug.
    Steps to reproduce:
    - start the app which uses "Fast App Resume" mode
    - block the phone.
    - ensure the app is tombstoned. This can be done by using "Tombstone upon deactivation" VS option.
    - send the toast notification to the app.
    - Open the app from toast. >>>> the app either CRASHES or stays on the same page, without proper navigation. Both outcomes are unacceptable.
I created a test solution, which demonstrates this bug: https://db.tt/LyarfmDK
It contains two projects, both are nothing more than msdn samples with smallest modifications:
    - fast app resume sample
    - push notifications sample.
    To reproduce:
    - start fast app resume project under debug with "tombstone" option
    - copy the push uri
    - start the "send push" sample. Paste PUSH uri and send the push notification.
    - tap on the notification ==>> either crash or no navigation.
Well, I believe this is a very serious issue and must be fixed ASAP.
    Any workaround for now?

I downloaded your zip file and there are projects all over the place.  If you want us to look into this, please label projects nicely, place them where I can figure out which one goes where, and then give me easy to follow instructions to reproduce
    the problem.

  • 10.7.2 Bug, Showing Data DVD as blank, but it's not!

I have a brand new Macbook Pro and I've encountered a baffling problem.  A data DVD (containing multiple PDF's) shows up as a blank writable disc on this computer.  I decided to run Parallels with Windows 7 (on the same MBP) and the disc showed up with all the files intact.  So I figured it wasn't a hardware problem.  Then I tried the same DVD in my older macbook (2008 model) and Mac Pro desktop (both with OS 10.6) and the disc works perfectly.  So it's not a general mac problem either, it appears to be a 10.7 Lion problem.  I then uninstalled Parallels and Toast just incase they were to blame...no luck.  I have tried other data DVD's in my new MBP and they work perfectly, so I tried to figure out what format was messing with Lion.  Using Snow Leopard, Toast & my old Macbook here are my findings regarding the format of the culprit DVD:
    Medium Type: DVD-R
    Space used: 4.38 GB
    Diameter: 120 mm
    Layers: single
    Manufacturer ID: RITEKF1
    Content:
    Title: Feb 22 2011
    Content Type: Data
    File System: UDF
    Tracks: 2
    Sessions: 2
    Details:
    Session 1 Start=0, Size 1.16GB
    Track 1 Start=0, Size 1.16 GB
    UDF  Feb 22 2011
    UDF revision 2.01
    Session 2 (open), Start= 645216, Size = open
    Track 2 Start = 645216, Size = 3.15 GB
    UDF  Feb 22 2011
    UDF revision 2.01
So as you can see it's a multisession DVD, which you cannot create under Lion but you should be able to read it.  It's also UDF format, etc.  Does anything else look fishy?
Anyway, I brought the MBP to the genius bar today and showed him my findings.  I tried the disc in his MBP and it also appeared to be a blank writable DVD. He believes it is a Lion bug and had nothing more to say.  Any thoughts from the techies out there?  Anyone have a similar experience?  I would love to have my results duplicated so that I can make apple aware of this bug.  Thanks all!
    My specs:
MBP 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    OS 10.7.2

    Cattus Thraex,
I know that you enjoy posting on the forums, but please only post relevant information.  If you've read everyones post in this thread you'll notice that the discs in question have all been tested on other operating systems & other hardware, therefore it's not necessary to write "then you may have a hardware problem" or "May also indicate a system corruption".  That's incorrect information and it shows that you have not actually read the other posts before replying.
FYI, I've never actually "called anyone out" in a forum.  I generally think it's a waste of time and it usually solves nothing.  That being said, I started this thread so that we could get a solution from Apple and I'd like for it not to be diluted by misinformation.  Please help us Apple!
Your last post is really what made me write this reply.  Your basically saying that our concerns are useless because this technology is antiquated.  That we should not be asking a question like this at all...
Let me break this down for you so you understand where we're coming from...
You wrote "Open Session Disks have always been problematic in Mac OS, and not recommented. Open sessions made sense 10-12 years ago, when rw-CDs did not exist, and a blank CD cost a lot "
Thanks for the info, but all of us in this thread have been given a disc by a friend of or a colleague that we cannot open on Lion, but it opens everywhere else.  We did not choose this format, but apparently someone else did and we must deal with it.  We all know that the technology is old...this is not helpful info.
you also wrote "Now, open sessions are entirely senseless, and I do not wonder if Apple completely drops support for this outdated method."
O.K., that again for the non-advice.  Again we didn't choose the format, someone else did.  So basically you're saying that we are silly for asking this question.  Are you still able to open a microsoft word file from 1993?  The answer is yes...
Anyway, from the information I've gathered from your posts above, you will not thoroughly read this post either.  I fully expect an angry response that has not been well though out, due to the lack of comprehension of what I'm saying here.  That being said, please suprise me by posting nothing at all...that would be spectacular!

  • Roxio Toast 9 or Toast 8?

    Hello All,
Im interested in purchasing Roxio's Toast application but i have read mixed reviews over the new version 9. Does anybody have any advice or more information.
    Thanks
    Al

Have bought the Toast Titanium 9 and have to say that there's something strange with this softeare. It fails to burn DVD:s. I've tried to copy a DVD movie I myself created on iMovie/iDVD, but got an error message "Interface Error:-32030, The Connection is not stable", or the system crashes and I need to restart the computer. These both occur after the copy process is done and when the burning session starts, at the point when the lead in has been written. It may be a bug in the Toast 9 or Max OS ? However I would not suggest to to upgrade before this problem is cleared.

  • Bugs everywhere

Bought a brand new 21.5" imac (the one with ATI graphic card and 1 Tb disk) with factory installed system 10.6, so no-one can accuse me of installing it wrong.
Here's my bug list, for what it's worth:
    * My 12 month old $5500 Konica Minolta c203 MFP no longer works. Worked fine on 10.5.
    * Filemaker 8.5 no longer prints to anything.
    * Filemaker 9 won't start up at all. (Particularly poor as Filemaker is an Apple company)
    * All my custom automator scripts no longer run.
    * Retrospect needed to be set up from scratch - wouldn't recognise user folder transferred from 'old' 10.5 imac.
    * Cyberduck won't start at all.
    * Bootcamp partition not transferred.
    * Bootcamp once installed, doesn't appear as a startup option. Need option restart.
    * Toast won't burn DVDs - only makes 'coasters'.
    * Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 printer is broken.
    * Preview won't open jpeg files.
Would have been nice to include a firewire 400 to 800 adapter in the box as they dropped firewire 400 on this computer, or at least tell you that you need one on the box. Firewire 400 was an apple propriety format - nice of them to maintain good backwards compatibility with their own hardware systems.
Would also be nice to get a proper numeric keyboard included, I had to buy one at extra cost.
For the record, windows XP runs really well on the imac in bootcamp and it's also compatible with all my existing hardware, printers and windows software.

    Hi
    Thanks for the quick reply.
The fix for preview works - although why would the preferences be corrupt on a clean installation?
I do think it's a bit ingenious to say that third party software and hardware can't be expected to work. If it worked on 10.5, how am I to know that it won't work on 10.6? I have a lot of expensive software that only works (or rather, worked) on mac and I only use bootcamp for autocad, as they never released a mac version.
Microsoft has the decency to provide an 'upgrade advisor' test application that scans your computer and lets you know what actions to take - you can download and use this BEFORE you buy a new computer.
Something similar from apple would save a lot of the grief you see on this forum - people aren't just wasting money, their wasting their time. If apple can't afford to fully beta test their software before releasing it, fine, but at least apple needs to respect the time customers waste trying to fix their computer themselves. They should provide something like microsoft's upgrade advisor to let you know in advance the problems you face so you can make an informed decision.
I feel that apple is not serious about it's business users - they seem to target home users, who are happy to stick with safari, iphoto and imovie.

  • Compressor 4.1.2 bug tested this is my finding.

    TEST 1
    Apple OS X 10.9.4 Build 13E28 - Compressor 4.1.2 - Files used is QuickTime 1920X1080i Prores.
The Blu-ray creation work but if you re-insert the BD-RE disc (Verbatim) the disc refuse to eject.
You need to shtdown the computer to get the disc to eject because the finder ger unresponsive.
The MACGO Blu-ray player refuse to play the disc but the disc play in regular Blu-ray players.
The burner used is LG BD-RE WH.16NS40 and everything is clean install two week ago.
    TEST 2
    Apple OS X 10.9.4 Build 13E28 - Toast Titanium 11.2  - Files used is QuickTime 1920X1080i Prores.
The Blu-ray creation work perfectly with the BD-RE disc (Verbatim) reinsert and the disc eject perfectly.
The MACGO Blu-ray player play the Blu-ray disc perfectly and also any home regular Blu-ray player.
The burner used is LG BD-RE WH.16NS40 and everything is clean install two week ago.
Conclusion : Since Toast Titanium 11.2 with OS X 10.9.4 work Apple Compressor 4.1.2 is the bug.
The disc created with Compressor have make Apple disck utility crash when try eject.

If you have system backups, you can probably restore to an earlier version. That would take care of your needs prospectively. Any libraries that had been updated, would;t open in an earlier version of FCP X. But of course, your master files could be used in both Final Cut and Compressor.
Also, send your results to Apple using the Provide Compressor Feedback link in the Compressor drop down menu.

  • Known Intel Bug with iDVD?

I just bought a brand new Intel iMac about two months ago and last night I tried burning my first DVD with it. The DVD ejected and there was nothing on it. It did not give me the usual...your dvd has been successfully completed would you like another copy prompt, it just said completed. I made a nice coaster with that first disc and then I had to Force Quit iDVD as it just hung on Cleaning Up and would not move on after 15mins or so. I shut the computer down and successfully burned the disc the second time but when I put in another blank disc to make another copy, the same thing happened as with the first disc...the program ejected the disc and then made me a second coaster. My first iMac, the G5 I bought earlier this year worked perfectly every time...so I upgrade to a supposedly better version iMac with the intel chip and now I am having this kind of problem? Is this a known bug or are others here having similiar results?

unless you and others have had your discs not burn from within iDVD using cheap discs.
I've seen it hundreds of times here. And I've had some personal experience in my early days of making DVDs with iDVD.
I recommend a disk image burned to Verbatim DVD-R at 4X or slower using Toast or Disk Utility.
David Pogue also recommends Verbatim on page 356 of his latest book:
iMovie HD & iDVD 6: The Missing Manual
Quoting David: "Cheaper brands don't use the same amount of organic dyes and are more likely to suffer premature deaths."

  • Eye TV 2.1,Toast 7

    Hi
Does anyone have trouble with archiving programmes from eye tv to toast? I do this regularly as it is better watching on a tv screen but since upgrading to Toast 7 and the new version of eye tv the whole process has become a mess. The problem is sound, it either records with no sound or some kind of weird commentary which sounds as if it is for blind people if that makes sense. Have tried both eye tv support and toast but eye tv suggested it was a bug when both are actively advertised as being fully compatible. Toast suggest phonning support at £1 per min cost. Its really irritating and frustrating. Any help would be great.
PB 1.33Ghz, 1Gig RAM, Eye tv DTT   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Yep same problem.
I've been streaming/watching at least one show a night on my atv for months without issue. Now it takes forever to buffer and then stops to re-buffer about every 30 seconds. My wireless-n signal strength is excellent to the atv.
I decided to sync my shows until the issue is resolved and noticed the sync is a lot slower than it was previously and the transfer speed is very un-steady. I tested doing a copy of the same file to my wireless-g laptop and it copied in a fraction of the time at a very steady transfer rate (like the atv use to do), so I don't think it is a network issue.
I also tried the standard things like un-linking/re-linking, shut down/restart, etc as suggested in this thread and others without luck.

  • IDVD 8 versus Toast 8

I was confortable with iDVD 4 but can't make much sense of iDVD 8. Is Toast 8 easier to use ?
I edit my pictures in FotoMagico and the audio in GarageBand. I put chapter markers in GarageBand and transfer the lot back to FotoMagico, which I then export to iDVD 8.
Apparently there is a bug in iDVD 8 which means that my FotoMagico project will not open iDVD 8 automatically upon exporting it; I have to bring my relevant .mov project to iDVD manually. But that is a different subject.
I just can't work out how to bring the chapters to show in the Theme window of iDVD before the Burn.
Is someone out there doing the same sort of thing who could enlighten me ? (FotoMagico / GarageBand / FotoMagico / iDVD 8)
The main question is ... is Toast 8 easier to use than iDVD 8 ?
    Tks in advance

  • Toast is not redirecting to specific page when phone is locked in windows phone 8 application

I subscribed to toast notifications to my windows phone 8 chat application..
It is redirecting to specific page when i minimize the app and close the app.
But in following scenario it is not redirecting..
I opened app and then i locked the phone.
I got notification then i clicked on toast.
It is not redirecting to that page i specified.
When i look into rootframe_navigating event in app.xaml.cs, i found that the notification uri is not coming when we lock the phone when app is opened.
I hope you understand the scenario.
Is that bug or should i do anything for redirecting when phone is locked also?
    Waiting for the reply.
    Thanks!

    I used fast app resume...
That is the reason that it is behaving like that..
I need fast app resume also..
    How can i overcome this?

  • Toast 9, Apple TV option and monitor display

    Hi,
I'm using Toast 9 rather than anything else (Cinematize, MPEG4works2, MPEG Streamclip, Handbrake, VisualHub etc...) because it uses 400% processor and gets the job done quicker (Mac Pro). My problem concerns display resolution, anything exported using the preset for Apple TV plays in iTunes 16:9 anamorphic and looks stretched. Opening the same file in Quicktime does not produce this behaviour. Movie file dimensions are 1024 x 576 px. Can anyone else corroborate this?

Michael, thank you for taking the time to respond. I submitted a bug report to Apple, perhaps you could join me.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I don't actually own an Apple TV, oh I want one but it needs a much bigger hard drive and Gigabit Ethernet before I'll look at it seriously. It's possible Apple TV and the Television would correct the display issue, i just don't know: but iTunes should be clever enough to figure out when there's no TV connected.
