TOC associated with book isn't a choice when exporting to epubs

I'm using InDesign CS4 because I can't afford to upgrade to CS5. I'm running it on Win XP SP3 with 4 GB of RAM.
I have set up a book and it exports to pdf without problem.
But when I try to export it to digital editions, the only TOC choice I am given is the [default]. The default TOC is simply not acceptable for a professional book. I've tried everything: reselecting the TOC from the Layout menu, even editing it and resaving it. Nothing helps.
In addition, InDesign crashes every time I export to digital editions. It's apparent a lot of people are having the same problem.
This program gets more frustrating and less attractive every time I use it.
Can anybody help?

Go to Settings/icloud. The Apple ID at the top of the screen is the only one you need to be concerned about. That one MUST be a working ID, and you must know the password for it, or you will be unable to use the phone if it ever crashes, you want to update it, or you want to sell it.

I recently updated my primary email address associated with my Apple ID account. When I go to App store on my iPad it still tries to login to the App store using the old email address I had associated with the account, and naturally my password doesn

I recently updated my primary email address associated with my Apple ID account.
Now when I go to App store on my iPad it still tries to login to the App store using the old email address I had associated with the account, and naturally my password doesn't work. I can't figure out how to tell my iPad to login using the updated email address.
So in effect I'm locked out of the app store and I currently have 26 updates waiting.
I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting my IPad to iCloud with no luck.. However I cloud happens to show the correct/updated email address.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Did you change the email for the Apple ID or did you create a new Apple ID? A new Apple ID cannot be used with content that was bought using a different Apple ID.

Navigational TOC doesn't show up when exported to epub, any suggestions?

I created a Table of Contents document in the book that I am creating but when I export it for Digital Editions the TOC page just shows completely blank. This is my first epub and I don't know if I'm setting it up right. Has anyone else had a similar problem? If so, how did you fix it? Thank you so much!!

When you say the whole TOC page is blank, what do you mean? A navigational TOC appears in the Navigation Pane on the left of Adobe Digital Editions. In iBooks it drops down from the Contents icon at the top of the page.
If you place an InDesign-created TOC, it WON'T appear on an EPUB page when created out of InDesign CS4. That's because it's not considered part of the main story flow. You'll need to manually create a TOC which appears on a page with cross-references.

Problem with subscript and superscript in tables when exporting in .pdf

When I put some words in superscript (or subscript) in a table, a bug occurs when exporting in pdf (whit export or print either). All the words in the cell after the subscript part disappear in the pdf version. The rest of the table or the document isn't affected. It's really strange and it has occured since I shifted for the 5 version of Pages...
I've no idea what to do...

Why Chapter 1 contains entire book when exporting to ePub?

I have tried on numerous occasions to export an InDesign book to an ePub and on every attempt, the box exports OK except....Chapter 1 ends up including the entire 30 chapters of the book. That (190+pg) chapter is followed by the other 29 chapters in logical order. The book ends up being a perfectly configured ePub except Chapter 1 contains the entire book. (@ 595 pages)!!
I have checked all of the individual chapters to insure they only contain the required pages and all, INCLUDING Chaper 1 (15 pages) appears to be fine.
What am I doing wrong?

First, you should tell us what version of InDesign you're using. There are significant differences between InDesign CS4 and CS5. (If you're using earlier than CS4, then choices will be even more limited.)
There are two ways to have a book break into chapters, as I understand it (keep in mind I'm just learning to create eBooks):
(1) Both CS4 and CS5, support having a book broken into chapters if you've defined a Table of Contents Style in one of the chapters of your book, and select that chapter as the Style Source document in the book. Then when you choose Export Book to EPUB, in the Digital Editions Export Options, you must CHECK "Include InDesign TOC Entries" and select the TOC Style you've created.
(2) In CS5, you also have the option to specify breaking into chapters based on First Level Entries in the TOC if you check "Use First Level Entries as Chapter Breaks"

How can I setup an .indd with two columns with different threads so that I can export to epub?

Hi all. Sorry, english is not my native language. I´ve made an .indd: each page has two columns with different threads (is a bilingual text). When I export this .indd to .epub only appears one column from a thread following the next thread. What can i do to fix this? My indesign is CS6

There are fixed format EPUB files as can be used for children's books, etc. where there are a lot of illustrations. However, those are very work-intensive to produce. I've never worked on one.

When exporting to epub, only about 1/3 of my chapters are getting the page breaks. Each chapter is in its own doc, and I've tried splitting it apart by doc. and by H1, with no luck. HELP

All my paragraph styles seem to jive, and no matter what I do, most of my chapters seem to miss their page breaks. I've heard of others having this issue with older versions of Indesign, but I'm on CC2014, and I thought that should be fixed by now. I really don't want to have to learn HTML code and go break open the epub doc to fix it manually, because that doesn't always work across all devices either. I know others have to of run into this problem before. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure the paragraph style applied to the chapter title (if that's the first line of each chapter) is tagged. Open the paragraph style and go to Export Tagging and check Split Document (epub only). Then when you export (assuming you are using reflowable) under General>Split Document check Based on Paragraph Style Export Tags. Try it and let us know if this helps.

Problems with special characters displaying in PDF when exported.

I have a very frustrating question. I've never had any problems with font and pdfs before switching to the operating system for Mac. Of course, they have Helvetica Neue pre-installed as a system font. The problem is, Bold doesn't work and is not an option. I've tried using Helvetica Neue (TT) but special character and punctuation disappear completely.

Unfortunately, that is supposed to say Monica Perez. There are supposed to be marks above the "o" and "e". Can anyone help me?

Try copying your T1 Helvetica Neue font into the Applications/Indesign/Fonts folder. This will give you the complete family in Indesign overriding the system TT.

Update to OS 10.9.5 coincidental with iPhoto 9.5.1 crashing when exporting.

However, I can still access photos by emailing them to myself, anyone else have similar problems caused by latest mavericks update? Is there a fix in the works?

Not sure why you are confused that since we can not see you we verify the information - especially since eyou reported issue is exactly what happens with certain older versions and there have been no reports of it with iPhoto 9.5.1
Do you have any third party export add ons installed? If you create a new library (hold down the option key while launching iPhoto until the select library window appears you can create a new library) and import a few photos into this test library does it work correctly?

Linked AI with overlays looks fine on PC when exported to PDF, but Mac horribly distorts the color?

I'm pulling in an .AI file into my .INDD on PC, and it looks beautiful! I export the PDF, send it to my supervisor, who is on a Mac, and it looks like garbage!

What is going on? When my supervisor tried to print it, it still came out that way, but when I print it, it's fine.
A bit about the .AI file: It's a gradient mesh with multiple layers of semi-transparent, "soft-light" overlaid patterns. The files are placed as links into the InDesign file. They have matching color profiles. I also tried embedding the link in case that was the issue. I am at a loss.
P.S. The quote above is not an indication of my feelings toward Adobe. It just happened to be in the document I'm working on.

Yup, she was using Preview. Looking at it in other programs solved the issue. Sheesh, what a mess!

Problems with Hyperlinks when exporting to EPUB

I've been trying to export a CS5 indd to Epub (using corEpub script -http://www.teusdejong.nl/indesign/-), but there seems to be some kind of conflict with Hyperlinks (there's 6000 of them): when they are near to a footnote reference, the text of hyperlinks (and some text surrounding it, don't know the criteria) just disappear and the reference doesn't work. Any ideas about what could be happening?

I just came across this same problem -- similar but not exactly the same.
Text in a table does not print properly when text is superscripted.
This is a problem since we have a French invoice that has a fair bit of superscript. I tried to work around by decreasing the font size and increasing the baseline, but this did not work.
I'm using Pages 5.1 and Mavericks.
Anyone have any ideas????

Camera Raw box isn't coming up when exporting from LR to PS

IT USED TO WORK. I'M USING LR 4 AND PS CS5.1. They are both updated. I try right clicking on picture in LR and 'edit in PS' also try 'open as smart object'. Neither open the Camera Raw box in PS. The only way I can get Camera Raw in PS is if I open a RAW file directly from PS. Example: going to PS file menu - opening and selecting in box "caerma raw". The problem is then I don't get to save my LR updates. Also I just need to be able to send them from LR direct to PS. I've read all the forums and as such have tried all of the above. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.
