TOC navigation missing with MAC

MAC users, regardless of browser cannot navigate the TOC. I
am using WebHelp Pro in RHx5. Any suggestion? Thank you in
advance!

Lauri,
If you still have a problem on Mac, some things to look at:
Generate DHTML > Java Applet > HTML
Mac won't use DHTML from RH5, but will follow RH's built-in
alternative code.
Also, have a look at Peter's topic on Browsers. Some of the
code patches he suggests should help you.

  • CS5.5 Split screen/code navigator crash with mac OS 10.10.1

I am using CS5.5 on my macbook pro.  Since I've installed 10.10.1, when I try to open code navigator or change to split screen, I get the spinning wheel and need to force quit DW.  Is anyone else having this problem?   Is there a fix for this?  It worked great before OS10.10....thanx in advance.

    More information:
I just noticed that I am only having this problem on one of my pages (index.html) in only one of my sites.  All other pages of this site have no problem when switching to split view.  Obviously, there is a code problem only on that page.  Still need help.

  • Syncing Treo 680 with Mac PIMs (using Missing Sync)

Thanks to Michael Lafferty's excellent advice, I was ready to start syncing my Treo 680 with Mac's PIMs using Missing Sync. However, after extensive research and asking questions on five different forums, I'm getting conflicting advice. H
    Here's my Treo PIMs situation:
    Calendar 802K (6378 events/12 categories)
    Contacts 1285K (2306/13)
    Memos 184K (52/14)
    Tasks 79K (250/10)
Here are the issues that I have received conflicting answers about:
    1. I have 9 custom fields on my Treo with a lot of information in them. These are critical fields to me. It took me many days to pull this info out of my Contacts notes and enter in these 9 custom fields for 2306 contacts. Is it true that I cannot sync these 9 customs fields with Mac's Address Book? I've been told many times that this won't happen. If it can be done, will changes that I make in data entries for these fields in the Mac Address Book sync properly and be reflected on my Treo.
    2. Can the conduits be set to "handheld overwrites Mac"? I've been told that it cannot. This and #1 are deal killers for me.
    3. I have seven phone fields on my Treo. They are in this exact order:
    work (1701 entries)
    home (209)
    Fax (291)
    email (201)
    mobile (201)
    pager (31)
    main (145)
Will I be able to successfully sync these with Mac's Address Book? If not, is there any reason that I couldn't take whatever fields won't sync and move them to some of the Treo 9 custom fields? The last question is moot if custom fields are not supported.
    4. I average about 12 categories for each of my 4 PIMs. Do these all sync over correctly to the Mac PIMs?
    5. I also have Treo notes attached to many, if not most, of my Contacts, Calendar events and Tasks. Will these all sync properly with the Mac PIMs such that I can make changes on either side of the equation and have them reflected after syncing on the other side?
    6. Are there any other limitations in my ability to faithfully be able to recreate my 4 Treo 680 PIMs accurately and completely in the Mac PIMs?
I realize that any reference to non-Address Book PIMs is off-target. I hope you'll excuse me dumping the other three PIMs into the mix. My primary concern is Treo Contacts/Mac Address Book.
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Treo 680 (DateBk6)

Q: I have 9 custom fields on my Treo with a lot of information in them…
A: The Missing Sync does not synchronize custom Address Book fields between a Palm device and your Address Book application, but will not remove those fields from the Palm if the conduits are set to synchronize. If your conduit is set to the nonstandard Overwrite handheld with desktop data, the custom fields will be overwritten. I point this out because it is, at times, necessary to make a choice like this, and as a result: its bye-bye custom field data!
The Missing Sync cannot perform custom field synchronization because the Sync Services framework does not allow The Missing Sync to create new fields in Address Book to match your Palm custom fields.
Q: Can… conduits be set to handheld overwrites [desktop]?
A: No, because again, the framework does not support this specific type of bidirectional data transfer.
Q: I have seven phone fields on my Treo…
A: This is an issue primarily with the manner in which a Palm device handles such information. Though they are displayed in a particular manner on your device, they are not necessarily stored in a specific order by the Palm contact application, and can only be retrieved when labeled with an expected or 'accepted' field label. This issue gets complicated quickly, but in short…
    • only the first seven phone numbers sent to your device by the framework are written to the device
    • the order is not something that can be controlled by a developer, and it is not necessarily the order displayed in either the Address Book contact record on your Palm device
    • the Palm contact application does not distinguish between phone number and electronic mail address, though Mark/Space parses the data to look for the @ character—and, finding it—handles it as an electronic mail address
    • only one of the several IM addresses you maintain in an Address Book contact record is transfered, and only one URL is transfered
    • Palm categories are mapped to equivalent Address Book groups
As to synchronizing additional data to Palm custom fields, that's not supported. The place to put such data is in the Note: or Notes: field.
    Q: I average about 12 categories…
A: As I suggested above, category and group equivalents are recognized and synchronized. Be sure that you name the ones you intend to synchronize identically in both environments.
    Q: I also have Treo notes attached…
A: Again, these should synchronize bidirectionally, without issue.
Q: Are there any other limitations in my ability to faithfully be able to recreate…
A: Oh, yeah: because the data field labels and contents do not map 1:1, it is nearly impossible to create identical records in both environments. Look for the common abilities…
    • a maximum of seven telephone numbers and electronic mail addresses
    • a single IM identifier
    • a single URL
…and work within those bounds. You can generally store and synchronize any additional identifiers in a Note: or Notes: record, but this is clearly less flexible and potentially more problematic than storing them in matching fields.
You briefly mentioned the other PIMs on your Palm device, and their OS X rough equivalents. Those controlled by Mark/Space OS X bundled applications will not be an issue: memos, for example. Their are Palm OS quirks which result in inequalities. The most obvious of these is the iCal multiple day event which spans two or more days in iCal, but which is represented on a Palm as only a single day event, displayed on the first day alone.

I have a 3 year old MacBook Pro with MAC OSX 10.6.8, iPhoto ’09 version 8.1.2 and have downloaded two software programs: one is Aperture 3.2 and the other is Photoshop Elements 9 (which I got from a friend who didn’t need it).
I am totally happy with the way iPhoto organizes my photos and how I can work with iMovie to create slide shows with music from iTunes, etc.
I have been shooting mostly high resolution jpegs and I continue to learn more and more about photography, post processing etc. I realize that the small adjustments I can make in iPhoto are good, and are adequate most of the time. However, a have started to experiment with shooting RAW images and would like to go the next step, ie. post processing.I am totally technically challenged and need SIMPLE, INTUITIVE programs and am certainly NOT anywhere ready for Photoshop CS whatever!
After having these programs sit on my computer, I decided to try to see if I could figure them out. When I opened Aperture, this is what first comes up.
    “Welcome to Aperture 3.2
Your library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of Aperture. Once upgraded, you will not be able to use this library with previous versions of Aperture.
Upgrading a library from previous versions of Aperture 3 generally takes a few minutes or less, though larger libraries will take longer. After that, Aperture 3.2 will upgrade your library's thumbnails, but you can use the application during that time.
Tip: To open a different library, quit Aperture and hold the Option key down while starting Aperture
    Current Library Location:
    Jadzia (home)   -----Pictures------Aperture Library
                                                      QUIT             UPGRADE”
I have heard horror stories  about moving your entire library to Aperture, ending up with 2 libraries, etc. etc. hence my previous reluctance in attempting Aperture. In addition, many of my photography friends are saying: Go with Lightroom 3.....you’ll love it!
So here is my dilemma.  I don’t want to mess around with my iPhoto library. All I want to be able to do, is to isolate a few photos, export them to Aperture, Elements, and work on them there, then bring them back into iPhoto.
Can I do this? Should I forget about Aperture and Elements and look at purchasing yet another program like Lightroom?

Export those few photos via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original to the Desktop.  Then import them into the Aperture library. That would keep one copy in your iPhoto library and another in your Aperture library to edit, etc.
You can use Photoshop Elements 9 from within iPhoto as your editor of choice. However, if you edit a raw file in iPhoto with PSE9 the resulting edited version must be saved outside the iPhoto Library and imported back in as a new file.  For editing jpegs just do a Save (not a Save As) and it all will be kept within iPhoto.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Text in Fla, created with Mac is not alligned in Windows

Since I work on two machines with different OS, one with Mac 10.8.2 (Flash CS5.5) and one with Windows8 (Flash CS6) I found out that Text inside boxes (shapes) are not alligned when you open it in the other OS.
This is a screenshot from the SWF exported with a Mac.
This is the exact same output, only exported in Windows.
If I save the Fla in Windows, then export it on a Mac, the file looks fine again but still, I would have to export every file on a Mac + this might cause problems when I edit these text boxes.
I noticed that in CS5 (also on Windows7) already and had hoped it will be fixed in CS6 but apparantly it is not.
Am I missing something here? I am using the same Publish settings in both OS (latest Flash Player + ActionScript 2.0).

if you want to give jsfl a shot (works in As2, too)
This little script parses your whole fla file puts all your TextFields in an Array and let you  adjust the lineSpacing in a loop
    var doc = fl.getDocumentDOM();
    var textFieldArray = fl.findObjectInDocByType("text", doc);
    for (i=0; i<textFieldArray.length; i++) {
        fl.selectElement(textFieldArray[i]);
        fl.getDocumentDOM().setElementTextAttr('lineSpacing', -4);
You would basically end up with two different swf versions that would show acocordingly to the users OS.

  • PowerBook G3 with Mac OS 10.2

So I got this PowerBook but there are some applications that come with Mac OS 10.2 that are not there. How would I get them back?

    Petoe;
I take it your are referring to the G3. Incidentally, can you identify the G3 more closely? For example, does it have Firewire ports, USB ports etc. Also, exactly which apps are missing?
In terms of you missing apps here are some suggestions:
    1. You can re-install Jaguar. This might be a good idea, especially if someone else owned this machine previously and you just acquired it.
    2. You can upgrade to at least Panther. This, of course, depends on which G3 PB you have.
    3. You try downloading and installing 10.2.8 Combo update then going to Apple Menu to Software Update and installing all updates.
    4. You can use Pacifist to extract the app from the install disk and install into OS.
You can purchase install disks from applerescue.

    Good luck.

  • Need help Please. Which play nice with macs? Palm Treo's Or Tmobile MDA?

Hi all, I post on here from time to time, but hardly anyone ever answers my questions. Here's my dilema. I bought a Tmobile MDA over the weekend that runs microsoft windows mobile 5.0. And while playing with it have noticed some things about it that i think are'nt that good. For example, I like the fact that its a windows os, but think that it's flawed. I have done quite a bit of research but don't think that it's active sync software is even compatible with mac osx. so have'nt even tried to mess with it. now i'm still in the 14 day window and am thinking about returning it. but here's the thing....
I know that tmobile has EDGE, and it's considerably slower than verizon or sprints EVDO. (since i've researched it i know that edge is around the 70-170KBPS range when EVDO has 300-700KBPS) And tonight i was messing with this tmobile MDA and finally got it to work to connect to the net with it using bluetooth and it's "modem" ability to connect it to the web. But it S U C K S! i went to and did a bandwith test and i was only getting like 12.1-27.1kbps download (after running 2 tests) dude, it feels slower than dialup!
so with that bullet against it, comes the compatible part. I can't sycn this thing with my mac for NOTHING! do any of you out there have a palm treo? (either verizon, sprint, or att.... carrier X?) How does it sync with your mac? is it hard? any extra software i need to get/buy? have any of you used it to connect to the net? and if so, how's the speed? And here's an even bettter question... How long did it take to config it to work using the phone as a modem? Did you use bluetooth? or serial link? was it easy to config? Where did you find the instructions?
I know these are a lot of questions, but this is a large investment for me. I mean this thing ain't cheap and it does'nt really play nice. I don't mind paying a little extra, for some peace of mind, and knowing that it won't crash often and will work with my mac. Anyone out there got any other suggestions? I would really appreciate it. I would like your opinion on which one is the easiest to use that plays nice with a mac, and has a interface that's almost as nice. Thank you so much for your time. I will be following this post closely and comment you all back for your replys
Mac Book Pro 1.83 GHZ 512 Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

It really is a toss up cause Ive owned two Treo's and Ive read extensive reviews on Windows mobile devices and it seems to me like they're pretty similar in the way of hardware and software(minus the fact of using different operating systems). So I think the determining factor really ought to be more focused on how much you're willing to pay, and the level of support you get for each device. I recently got rid of my Treo 650 due to an interesting touchscreen problem and got a windows mobile device(should come tomorrow)
in the way of syncing with a mac:
The Treo is extremely simple to set up and use with a Mac(keep in mind Im not talking about the 700w/wx)in every aspect. Palm provides OSx compatible software(though its almost impossible to get rid of after installation). However, in my experience, Palm does not really do a good job in the customer service department. While they have a rather extensive support page for each device(some of the info is outdated), that's pretty much all you get unless you don't mind spending hrs scouring various forums. Talking to customer service is a joke. Like I said I had a problem with the touchscreen and the best the rep could give me was "try a hard reset" and "send it in for repair".
I have yet to experience what windows mobile will be like. At the very least with syncing, theres syncing software made by people who had OSx in mind(ie: Missing Sync or Pocketmac) who will probably be able to help out a lot more in this area and possible also be able to help out with the other issues you mentioned.
a good place to check out would be howardforums.com, you'll probably get better answers there.

  • Are there any scanners that work on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.7.5?

I was using a CanoScan Lide 35 scanner on my laptop just fine until a couple of weeks ago and now it is hit and miss with it.  I was looking for a scanner that would be compatible with Mac OS 10.7.5 and I haven't found anything that looks like it works.  I don't have time to read every single Google link that comes up and was hoping that someone here could help me out.  I'm looking for a scanner that is on the low end of the price scale but also good enough to do some graphic work.  I'd appreciate any info I can get.  Thanks!

You will fnd that most scanners from the name brands work...I have an Epson Photo scan that works just fine with Mac OS X 10.7.5, 10.8.5, and 10.9.2...but I always use the included Image Capture application, found in Finder > Applications.

  • P1102W will not work with MAC OS 10.8.5

For a long time my P1102w worked flawlessly, wirelessly, with my home network (1 mac and 1 PC).  Now it hardly works at all.  When we hook it up and move the USB cable between computers it works - kind of.  But with MAC I still get automated messages almost daily that it is missing software and wants to update.  (Choosing yes causes it to download something, but no better results).  I have given up on wireless.  Can anyone tell me how I can get this working again?
    I just want to:
    1.  Be able to print (have it connected) without constant messages that it needs an update or is missing something.
    2.  Ideally, I would like it to work wirelessly again.
All the problems started when I upgraded the MAC OS system.
    Thanks for your help.
P.S.  It is not uncommon for the printer to give false "out of paper" messages or other flashing lights when nothing is wrong.  We often have to pause printing then resume to get it to print, even with the USB connected.

  • Trouble with Mac mini and samsung 5 series tv

Hi there, have just bought a second hand mini and trying to hook it up to my samsung 5 serties tv!!! easy or so i thought!! iget the apple loading screen (grey one!) and then it goes blank and nothing else happens! has anyone got any suggestions? thanks in advance!

If you look through the threads here you'll find that this sort of issue has come up quite often, both with TVs and even with some monitors. Typically the problem is that once the system has booted to the point that the screen changed from the grey one with Apple logo, it's loading the preferences previously set in MacOS. When that happens, if the system has display preferences set that the display itself can't work with, the screen will generally go blank, or show a very distorted or rolling image. If your mini had previously been used with a relatively high resolution or refresh rate setting which your TV can't cope with, it means you need to reset the mini's preferences to something more basic, at least to get you going.
You can do this in a number of ways, but the easiest is probably to go ahead and connect the system to a computer monitor and boot it up, then set the display preferences to something very basic such as 800x600. If you don't have a computer monitor to connect to, then instead, boot the system into safe mode by holding the shift key down as the system boots. This should set it to a basic resolution the TV can manage. Open the display preference pane and set a 800x600 resolution.
If that still doesn't help, boot again (to computer monitor or into safe mode) and in the Finder's Edit menu, use the Find command to search for all instances of 'windowserver' (no quotes) and drag all instances found (there should be 3 or 4) to the trash. These are the files that tell MacOS what settings to use for the display, so trashing them will prevent the system using previously settings. After that, reboot normally. With those files missing, the Mac will create new ones when it boots and loads MacOS, giving you a usable display at low resolution. You should be able to work from there to get the correct resolution set for your TV.

  • TOC navigation controls - random behavior

My landscape-only book is structured in iBooks Author as a Preface followed by a sequence of Sections. The result works fine, including the TOC, which consists of nothing but a horizontal scrolling set of thumbnail page images.
However, after I use the book for a while, a pair of TOC navigation buttons will randomly appear at the bottom of the display, and once they appear they won't go away unless I return to the iBooks library and then re-open the book.
These buttons (when they appear) exhibit broken behavior: clicking on the leftmost button displays an all-black phantom page on the display, with the black page existing at the equivalent of page number -1 in the book.
Any ideas on why the nav buttons are spontaneously appearing?  I haven't been able to pinpoint any specific user action which triggers their appearance.  The goal is to suppress their appearance altogether.
    Thanks!

Hello gemstone and welcome to the Palm forums.
It looks like you are correct, The Missing Sync won't allow you to set their implementation of the conduit manager to allow the PDA to overwrite data on the Mac; according to part of this HotSync troubleshooter I was reading.  It states:
"When you look at the Sync History log and see that there are no errors in the log, but find that the records did not sync as you expected, there are a number of possible reasons.
    1. Conduit configuration. Go to Missing Sync, double click on the conduit:
    - See if it is configured to 'Synchronize' or 'Overwrite handheld with desktop data'.
    - See if it is set to sync all calendars/groups/categories or selected calendars/groups/categories (depending on what plugin you’re looking at.)
    - With the Mark/Space Events  and Mark/Space Tasks  conduits see what calendar is used for the option "Put items from 'read-only' calendars into". Change it if necessary.
    - With Mark/Space Events check the setting for "Ignore desktop events older than:"
    - With Mark/Space Tasks check the setting for "Ignore desktop tasks older than:"
    - With Mark/Space Notes conduit verify which application it is configured to sync with: Mark/Space Notebook, Microsoft Entourage, and Yojimbo (1.3+)"
Without contacting Mark/Space, you may need to uninstall the Missing Sync and reinstall Palm Desktop 4.2.1 Rev D for Mac OS X.
