Today's Forum Bug - Image Gone Missing

I'd like to think the forum is a repository where answers to one person's questions can end up helping others in the future.
But that kind of goes to hell in a hurry if the forum loses supporting image information...
Exhibit A: A forum thread with a now missing image (see response #1), which was uploaded just a few days ago:

Your presumption is correct. Many things can be done with a MOD Console - editing replies w/ Reply To's, branching threads, moving threads, locking/unlocking threads - many things. Besides the recognized MOD's, many Adobe employees have MOD Consoles, and in some product forums, help out the MOD's all of the time. Not sure what the limitations of the MOD Console is, but I am sure that there are some things that just cannot be accomplished.
As for the disappearing images, I have not encountered that personally, but then usually post those only to the Premiere, Encore, Audition, PS and similar forums.
I HAVE had some post seemingly disappear, only to show back up again. Happened on Monday, May 09, with two of my posts. At that same time, there were a few wonky things going on, such as a couple of phantom log-outs and at least one Adobe server issue. Then, there have been the occasional instance, where a thread will show no replies, then though the reply count reflects some, and then some of those magically appear, as sonn as I post. Checking the date/time often indicates that they were up for some time, but just did not show to me.
I'll keep an eye open for any of my images disappearing - just in case.

Has anyone else encountered a situation where images suddenly gone missing?

i've had files suddenly gone missing on me several times. i was so sure that this might be a bug but now i think it's user error. at least my error.
a few times i wanted to delete one image and then found that several other images disappeared on me. here i realize that i forgot to deselect all of the other images before deleting the one image i intend to delete.
another time for some unexplained reason, so it seemed, several images disappeared on me. poof! i couldn't find them anywhere, but i didn't think to look in the Rejected library. later on i realize that i've pressed the zero key by mistake while the images were selected. the zero key rejects the images and placed them in the Rejected library. i've found some of my missing images in this library. phew!
for those of you who have some missing images, and haven't taken a look inside your Rejected library, take a look and maybe you'll find some of your missing images in there.
dual 2.7 ghz powerpc g5 Mac OS X (10.4.6) 8 gb ram, xt800 card.

You might just need to clear your search by selecting
the "x" in the search field.
Not quite the same as going into the search field and changing the rating slider and selection to show only deleted as by just clearing the search field does not change the slider rating and you'll still not see the rejected files.

LR 5.4 images in Book Module gone missing

Upgraded to 5.4, all the images in a recently published (and very important) book have gone missing from the Collection to which they were associated. How do I get the images back? I had better not have to re-place them all over again. This would be a huge boondoggle on Adobe’s part, then this upgrade would mean that I have to relayout a 64 page book with 300 images! I don’t think so.
Can I revert back to 5.3? I have clones and back ups. Russ

No one owes you an answer.
You can uninstall 5.4 and install 5.3, but I doubt very much if the upgrade process would have removed the images from the collection - that's probably user error. I wouldn't recommend going back to 5.3. Instead, look through copies of your backup catalogues and find the most recent one with the images in the book layout. If you've not done much work since then, you could carry on using this version of the catalogue. If you have, you can right click the book and do an Export to Catalog. Then go to your current catalogue and File > Import from Another Catalog to bring in the laid-out book collection.

Forum search gone missing?

Hi everyone,
right now I´m not sure if I´m loosing my mind.
I was online in SDN-Forums just this morning and all was fine.
Returnin now, I cannot seem to find the search option for the forum.
Did I miss an update? Is the function no longer available?

On my Mac, in Documents folders A-G have gone missing. When I try to access the backup in time machine, it won't let me go back at all. This is a major problem and I have no idea what happened or how to fix it!

All folders up to "H" have gone missing and for some reason when I go into Time Machine, I'm not able to access any of the backups. It won't let me select any of the screens behind the current one and when I click on the right hand side on any of the dates listed, nothing happens. I really need to get this fixed. Any help????

I don't know what will help at this point. You should never update a system that has problems, unless you're absolutely sure that the problems are caused by a bug that is fixed in the update. With your backups in an uncertain state, you should not update or do anything else except start a new backup.

Why do i keep getting "image is missing preview data" when trying to move files from bridge to PS ??

I am not able to move multiple files to PS...regardless whether I am doing HDR or panorama.....get this "image is missing preview data" with the first file number of the series of files.

You don't "move" anything from Bridge "into" Photoshop. You use Bridge to call on Photoshop to come and open the file(s), and Bridge simply hands the files over to Photoshop.
The problem lies in how the files are being processed and saved.
No one can help you until you provide complete and sensible details.

Images gone from presentation, when replacing "image couldn't be inserted."

Keynote 6.2, OSX 10.9.4, 1st gen Macbook Pro Retina
I have a presentation that had a bunch of images that are now gone (replaced by the grey square with the "?"). When I open the presentation I get a "Some images are missing because they were deleted from the document" warning. I understand that this usually means that there is an issue with the source image, but there are a few things happening for me:
1) When I try to "Replace" an image (mostly .png) I can find the right image in the folder where I left it. If I select that image, which has the same title and is in the same directory as the day I first gave the presentation, I get a "The image 'example.png' couldn't be inserted" warning.
2) If I try to Insert>Choose an image I get a "The image 'example.png' couldn't be inserted. The image is of an unsupported file type" notification. If I open a new presentation there are not problems inserting an image.
3) There are many images that are "droppedImage.tiff" and "pasted-image.pdf". Shouldn't these have been embedded in the file itself?
4) There are two images from roughly 50 slides that still have their images. Both are "pasted-image.pdf" and if I remember right they were the last images I added.
My guess is that the presentation is lost and I'll have to rebuild, but the problems I'm having are so unusual that I hope there is something can be done.
The last update to this presentation was June 23rd, so I believe (though I could be wrong) that I was using Keynote 6.2 at the time. I usually update right away.

My iPhone USB driver has gone missing

My iPhone USB driver has gone missing and won't recognize when I try to update from the device drivers... can someone give a suggestion on how to get it back? It went MIA when I upgraded to the newest iTunes today.

I'm sorry to hear your phone is not responding! I'd love to get it back up and running. Can you press and hold both the front button and the top button? You may need to hold it for a few minutes, but an Apple will appear when the device resets. Keep us posted!

Sleep setting has suddenly gone missing on 20GB 4'th Gen. refit

When my 20GB, Gen 4, Ipod died, I had the extended warrenty. True to their word, when Apple couldn't fix it, they replaced it. I think the new one they sent me is a refit, but it has worked fine until now. For whatever reason the "sleep" setting has gone missing from all my menus! Very Strange. I thought perhaps the latest update had something to do with it, but my 5'th Gen. 40GB, video Ipod, was also updated... and it still has a sleep setting.
I have been putting the 20GB to "sleep" by holding down the clickwheels lowest point, the screen goes dark... but when I restart it, it's been playing, because the battery is always dead.
Am I missing something here? I know it seems strange... so that's why I've come back to discussions. Anybody?

Looking through ipod forums, suggestion to reset ipod, and all menu's within. Continue pressing "menu" to main. After resetting "sleep" reappeared right where it should be.

"search for WLAN" option gone missing

My N82 had the "search for WLAN" option below the "select access point". but since of today it has gone missing and i have no idea how to get it back.
below is the option i'm referring to which i found on the net because i can't post a pic of my phone cos the "search for wlan" has disappeared.

cos i'm afraid i might mess my phone up and don't want to take that chance.
i think this happened while i was messing around the access points menu in settings trying to delete the unwanted access point it had stored there.
i don't think i deleted it unless it was there with another name?
maybe like default or something???
isn't there a way to add a 'search for wlan' shortcut there like it was originally?

Drivers seem to have gone missing from the hp drivers website

Most of the drivers HP used to provide for my laptop via Support Center seem to have gone missing. Some of them can be subsidized by installing the drivers windows update or hardware manufactures provide but for my switchable GPU this seems not to be the case at all. From what I gather the driver HP used to provide was custom. Is there any way I could acquire it? Is this new driver depravation situation permanent or will the old software eventually make a reappearance on the website?

I'm having the same problem finding drivers for my ProBook 4540s. I think hp may be adding more though because I think there were more drivers today than yesterday.

Forum Bug regarding not seeing new posts

I've posted this here as many users are reporting forum issues where they will get a notification of a new post made to a thread but they cannot see it.
This is a forum bug which Apple is aware of... and are trying to resolve but in the meantime here are two (somewhat impractical) fixes i have found...
1) Open the forum on a different Mac or Apple device and the posts will show up... Go back to the original Mac or Apple device and they will not appear unless you make a new post in that thread yourself... after the missing posts.
2) Post a new reply and then any posts made prior to your new reply will show up
It is not a cookie related problem as cleaning out the cookies does not fix the issue Its odd as if this is the case then how is this bug only specific to one Mac? Something must be tracking something, somehow but it doesn't appear to be via cookies....
Quiting and restarting Safari nor restarting your Mac, doesn't fix it either...
If anyone finds any other workarounds, please post them here....

Yes I know that, but I was referring to another situation where I get a thread notification by mail, I open the thread and do not see the new message, I then sign in et voila here it is. And in my situation this has, until now, always worked.
You have been lucky. I am signed continuously, but still most of the post are missing, when I go to them from an email notification. My "." key is rather worn out by now from using it to force posts to show

Email gone missing

Had several emails in my inbox yesterday that came in around 5 uk time
This morning these emails have vanished nothing showing after between 3.45 ish and 9.00 then seems ok
Anyone else having this issue?

I have had this issue previously and again today. Someones job application has gone missing. It is very poor form from Apple that this should happen.
Currently onto my 4th person on customer service and she seems to think she will be able to reset my inbox and get the email back. Someone did this for me last time and I got myy last 200 or so email duplicated. At least the missing one was in that bunch.
What worries me is that this could happen at other times and I could be unaware of it happening.

WAN choice in FN-F5 dialog for TP61 has gone missing

After upgrading to Win 7 (i have a T61 originally marked as a type 6458-CTO) the WAN choice has gone missing from the dialog shown with the FN-F5 key. 802.11 and Bluetooth are still there and working. **I have installed** all the latest drivers I could find on the Lenovo site. **I have checked** that the cables re connected. And **I have tested** with another card (from a working computer without Win7). All to no avail.
