Today's Itunes Update Issues

Anyone else have issues with this week's Itunes update? I'm totally locked out now as the update failed. I even tried downloading and installing from the
website and no luck?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • My new iPod Classic will not sync with my new Mac Book. My iPhone 5 does, so does 2nd gen. iPod touch. Apple Store cannot figure it out. Tried different Classics on different Macs, same thing. iTunes update issue ?

The iPod Classic I bought a month ago is not synching with my new Mac Book I bought 3 weeks ago. All the software was immediately updated. My iPhone 5 synchs fine, and so does my 2nd generaton iPod Touch. The original computer I synched all of these devices on was my HP latop. I bought my Mac and Classic to the Apple Store for a 'Genius Appt' and they could not figure out what the problem is. The connected my Classic to another computer and the same thing happens. It says device is not recognized. They also took other iPod Classics and connected them to my Mac and other Macs. The same thing was happening. They took notes and said it probably is an iTunes update issue.
I can manually drag songs into my Classic but I lost all playlists because it cannot be backed up as well and they had to restore it. For now I am holding on to it but it's usless to me if I cannot use it the way I liked too. I used it for the gym and bike riding and my last iPod battery died after 6 years. A charge would last 45 miutes. I love the Classic for what I use it for but it's a $275 brick to me now. At least the renewed by receipt so I can get a full refund.
Is anyone else seeing this issue ? The Apple Store employee said he saw a first generation iPad havng the same issue. As of now the Support Dest is unaware of this. As much as I love my new Mac I am disappointed I cannot sync my new Classic to it. Total bummer.
    Any help would be apprecated.

By the way, I totally restored everything. It was ok. It starts to 'unrecognize' my iPod Classic when it comes to synching with iPhoto. After this happened all the menus disappeared from my iPod (music, Podcasts, movies synched fine). It seems to be a problem when synching with iPhoto. It was the same thing before.

  • Itunes update issue

I updated iTunes but receive the following message: AVCFPlayerItemDurationChangedNotofication...  Now iTunes will not run.  I even tried the repair option on the iTunes download website.  Any suggestions?

Does this happen if you start iTunes in safe mode, hold Shift and Control while launching it?

  • After today's iTunes update I can't purchase music!

I go into my Ipad's iTunes to purchase music and it gives me the box that says I have to agree to the new terms and conditions. I click "agree",  then it asks me if I'm sure I want to buy the song, I click "buy", and it goes back to the first prompt; that I have to read and agree to terms and conditions. It happens over and over and doesn't allow me to purchase the music. This started after today's itune's update. What's going on! :(

Everyone is in the same boat.  No fix as of yet.

  • Itunes update issued error USBEthernethost.kext ...

Recently I did a routine update of itunes and received "the system extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contact the product's vendor for an update."
    1. reinstall how?
    2. It looks like Apple's product.
    3. I have installed nothing but Apple and Flash updates since the previous itunes update which did not issue an error.
    4. Should I care?

Open the AppleScript Editor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and run the following paragraph:
do shell script "chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext" with administrator privileges
If it doesn’t work, throw that item away and then reinstall iTunes.

  • When is Apple going to fix this iTunes update issue? I can't open or re install my iTunes.

Is there anything they are going to do so I can add more music to my iPod? Let alone access my iTunes library.

  • Today's iTunes Update

I downloaded the latest iTunes update, and shortly thereafter my computer suddenly shut down. Upon restart the calendar had reset to 1969. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

I did not have any problems. Go to your System Prefs and reset the time and date to your time zone.

  • Today's iTunes update has broken iTunes on Windows Server 2008 (64 Bit)

After today's update, iTunes crashes 100% of the time upon launching.
"iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." is all the info the error window gives. Uninstalled and re-installed 3 times, with exact same results

I updated QuickTime Player. No change in iTunes crashing at launch. If I choose "debug", it brings up the Visual Studios Just-in-time debugger, with a message: "An unhandled Win32 exception occurred in iTunes.exe [4748]

  • ITunes updating issues

I am having the exact same problem.  I had updated iTunes on another computer and went to update it on my home desktop.  If I launch Apple Software Update, it says that new software is available, but then there aren't any updates listed to select.  If I launch iTunes and do "Check for Updates," I get the exact same thing you describe - it says there is an update available (I also have 10.6.1.7 and would be going to 10.6.3), but when I click the "Download iTunes" button nothing happens.
I was going to try manually downloading next, but thought I'd see if I could find out if others were having the same problem and/or if I could find any other solutions.  Any luck?
    <Re-Titled By Host>

    Hmmmm.
That said, the Apple Software Update program still says there is new software available from Apple, but yet the box where there should be a list of available software for me to select is empty (and I know that there are a couple of programs that have been in that list before, and kept coming up because I didn't install them, and now there's nothing.
If you've got the time, could you check something for me please?
Have a look in the Winsock providers tab in Autoruns, as per the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
Are there any LSPs being shown in there, other than the Bonjour LSP(s)?

Since updating iTunes today, Airport Express not working. More specifically, the Airport software will recognise the device exists, but iTunes cannot connect to it, just getting error message.

    try this:
go system preferences > network > airport > advanced > TCP/IP and set *configure IPv6* to off. click on apply.
now have iTunes connect to the remote speaker again.

  • Itunes updating issue

When I try to update Itunes it tries to use I Explorer on my Windows XP . I.Explorer locks up on my PC.  I use Firefox as my default browser.  How can I update via Firefox, or can I simply download latest version of Itunes(using Firefox) without losing current settings/files etc, from current Itunes setup on my PC?

  • Itunes Updates issues

I would like to know why my itunes gets updated every other week.  It does not leave me signed in and every time i go to watch my movies it makes me sign in to watch them.

Updates to iTunes are not as regular as that, and I don't think that it has anything to do with your signing in issue.
Asking you to sign in is a security measure, designed to protect your account from being used by other people.

  • Itunes update issue restarted computer now cannot start itunes

Prompted to download latest itunes version, I did this and restarted computer and now cannot restart itunes message "itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. THANKYOU SO MUCH.
I update this morning at work, on VISTA with iphone 4. Same thing, i restart, it tells me Itunes cannot start as files are missing.
I seached EVERYWHERE, with lots of stupid long winded possible solutions.
THIS WORKS, and its ONE SIMPLE CLICK... WHY DO APPLE NOT HAVE THIS LISTED ON THE FRONT OF SOLUTIONS
THanks to those who actually know what to do above.

  • How do I resolve an MS Windows iTunes update issue with Apple Mobile Device"?

I am receiving the following error message when updating iTunes to v. 11.1.4:
Service "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start.  Verify you have sufficient privileges to start service.
How do I resolve the problem?

I resolved this myself by uninstalling ALL Apple programs and reinstalling the iTunes software.  No files were lost and account sync worked as before.

  • ITunes update issues

i can't update to the latest version of iTunes because of an error saying it can't find bonjour.msi

You get exclamation marks or dead tracks because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed..
for example, if you have your iTunes Media folder on an external disk and it is not available when iTunes loads, iTunes will default back to the internal disk where it will not be able to find the tracks.
You can find out where iTunes thinks a track is by selecting a problem track, right clicking and selecting Get Info. The location will be on the Summary tag. This should help you work out what has gone wrong.
