Today, Sept 26, 2011: I finally decided to download version 6. I got a message stating my java script was not compatible with this version. It did a search and said it could not find an update. I need jave script. What now??

Using Window XP Pro with service pack 3 and all the updates. I uninstalled version 6 and am now back to version 4. 4 gig ram and over a hundred gigs of storage. Not using Nortons or McAfee. Checking my settings, I find java is enabled, but still get "java not installed" on many sites. I have reverted to version 4, so I can only load the troubleshooting info from there.

It is '''<u>not</u>''' JavaScript that is incompatible/disabled, it is Java Console that is incompatible/disabled. Java Console is installed with each update of Java and is not needed by most users; read the following under '''<u>Java Console</u>'''

*Also see --> https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/JavaScript

Test to see that your Java is working at the following link. If Java is working on your system, it will detect the version that is installed on your system.

'''<u>Java Console</u>'''<br />
Unless you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages, you do not need Java Console. Java update will install a new Java Console with each update. Removing the Java Console extensions has no effect on the functioning of Java for web browsing. You can see, '''''but not remove''''', the Java Console extensions in Add-ons > Extensions. Java Console extensions can be safely removed '''''manually''''' by following the instructions in this article:

  • Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop

    Hello,
I'm a beginner in PS. I was edit TIFF file in PS. Size of file is 21x89.1(22.6 MB). Then suddenly power - cuted. But after 5 min turn on PC and PS can't open my TIFF file.
Error is (could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop)
What should I do, how I open this TIFF file? I realy need to open this file?
    Please help me...
    Regards, Suvd.S

Out of curiosity, were you actually saving the file at the moment the power cut off, or had you just saved it?
If not, I don't understand the reason the file should have become corrupted.  If it was successfully saved on disk from the prior save operation, just shutting off the power on Photoshop would lose your current edits, but the file should still be intact.

I have PSE13 on my system, Windows 8.1, 64-bit.  It was functioning properly after installation and now I get these messages when I go to print:  "The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements, or the saved printer is no longer available.  You need to check your printer settings before printing."  and then this statement:  "Default printer could not be opened."  I have reloaded drivers for both printers and made any upgrades possible.  It was working fine before and now all of a sudden, nothing.  Would prefer to have old PSE v.12 back, it worked with no problems.

    Hi,
If you are working in PSE13, please update it to latest PSE13.1 update available and see if it helps.
To apply update, you can go to Help > Updates and there you can see PSE13.1 update.

  • Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photosho

I just tried to open a file that I had saved last night and I got the message:
"Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop."
Normally I would just chalk it up to a corrupt file and redo the project but I've had this happen to me 5 or 6 times in the past two weeks. I dont know what to do!
Things I've tried that haven't work:
Opening in ImageReady and Gimp, changing file extention to .tiff, dropping into photoshop as smart object, opening in Illustrator, re-installing photoshop, deleting old actions/plug-ins that might glitch up the system.
I just started a new job and I'm working on a 2.5GHz Mac Mini (OSX ver. 10.7.4) with Photoshop CS6 (16-bit).
I am NOT saving over a server or anything like that.
I did NOT close photoshop too quickly last night.
I do NOT have any Nortan Anti-virus anything.
I've spend hours reading up on this and every fix that I've found doesn't work.
I've been using photoshop for YEARS and I've NEVER had this problem before.
    Please HELP!

There is a problem with the latest update, Mac, and saving a PSD file.  Apparently it may not open in CS6, but will open in other versions.  They are working on patch.

  • How do I resolve: "Could not complete the Crop command because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop" error message?

Photoshop document created in current version of PSCC2014, now will not crop, resize, etc without throwing compatibility error.
"Could not complete the Crop command because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop."
How do I resolve without recreating the file?

    Ooops.  Hit save reply prematurely.
You may be able to open the flattened composite or the embedded JPEG preview of your file in Adobe Illustrator, GraphicConverter (Mac only) or some such application, but your layers will be gone.
The problem of working across a network is that it's not supported by Adobe:
This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • CS5: Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photosh

After several hours creating a PSD file in Photoshop CS5 I attempted to revert some changes and got this error "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop".
I closed the file and restarted Photoshop and still get this error.
I restarted the computer and still get this error. Now my hours of work are WASTED!
This file was created using Photoshop CS5 Extended and was never in any other software.
    Details:
Mac Photoshop CS5 (12.0 running in 32 bit mode)
File had a video layer (h.264)
    MaxBook Pro 2.8Ghz
    OSX 10.6.3

I was able to open the file in Photoshop CS2 and all layers were intact. PS CS2 gave me the message: "A layer is corrupt and will be discarded." Turns out that was the video layer. The file itself was fine and I am again working on it in PS CS5.
Which leads me to ask: If a video layer gets corrupted why can't PS CS5 open it?
PS CS2 had no problem opening the file, it just flatteded the video layer - it even kept the current key frame.
Additional info: Just before the file went bad I made a level adjustment to the video layer and set a keyframe in the animation panel. Then I saved and got the error "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photosh' in Photoshop Macintosh". Also the source H.264 video file appears to be fine, it's only a 5 second clip and it play fine in every app - even PS CS5.
