Toggle selections with keyboard

Would it be possible to jump with keyboard trough selected items, with Indesign.

It would have been a great feature request, if only it wasn't already there. I'm seeing those shortcut keys for the first time (and good luck remembering them!) but as usual you can assign your own combo's to these functions using the Keyboard Shortcut Editor.

PS Cs6 Question - toggling tools with keyboard

This new behavior of PS in which you can press a key to select a certain tool, and then pressing the same tool again will select the next tool within that tool category. Is there a way to turn it off? Its making my workflow a mess at the moment. Since in the past I've never needed to depend on looking at what icon I'm using to know what tool is selected, now having to look every time to make sure the right sub-category tool is selected is getting unbearably annoying. I already had my key assignments directly linked to sub-category tools and my workflow was fast since I never had to check anything, I just had to press 1 button and thats it. Now I'm having to take an extra step thousands of times in one afternoon because I end up always not being on the right sub tool.
If I didn't have the 5D MKIII I'd just stick with CS4 but I'm cornered since CR7 is so much better than Canons DPP software. Blargh.

Advanced Search - Focus and Selection with Keyboard

I found the question in the forum from 4 years ago, but it was not answered. The problem is not related to OS version (Windows in my case) or program version (XI, DC) or even if the program is "Reader" or "Pro". The link to the forum entry is at the end of the text.
When an Advanced Search returns mutiple results, the default behavior - I think - is that when you use the arrows keys to navigate through the results, the word is automatically selected in the document - if the result is in a different page, the page changes accordingly. This is how Adobe Reader and Adobe Pro behaved in one of my computers.
In one day, I don´t know if it is a shortcut or a combination of commands, the use of the keyboard arrows keys to navigate through the results changed. Now you navigate through the results using the arrow keys, but to see the correspondent result in the document you must press (Enter). (Ctrl+G) and (Ctrl+Shift+G) don´t work too; only when pressing (Enter) the result changes in the document.
I already checked for updates, removed both Reader and Pro, removed the preferences folder in "Program Files" folder and reinstalled both XI and DC. Also I compared the program preferences between different computers to check if there was any difference - one that is ok and the other where the problem occurs.

Moving selected objects up and down with keyboard is automaticly applying a colour fill.

Hi,
My InDesign is strangely applying a colour fill when i move an objects up or down using the directional arrow in my keyboard. If the colour pallet is open. Nudging an object up makes the pallet disappear on the first press. It then reappears on the second press while filling the object (text frame) with black. This is instensly frustrating. How can I stop this? Suggestions would be very appreciated.
I have already reset the preferences.

I have to ask if you reset the prefs uing one of the methods in this thread: Replace Your Preferences If not, there's a good chance you left out one of the files, so please try again using one of the listed methods. And please tell us the OS and your version of ID, including the patch level. Obviously this is not normal behavior. It sounds as if the Swatches panel has focus when you are pressing the arrow keys.

Select one option with keyboard

Hi everyone!
I have a little question...
For example when i close one application appears a window with diferents options such as "don´t save", "save", "cancel".. how can i choose one of this options with the keyboard? I only can select with mouse....

There is a Mac Help topic which you can access by selecting Help Menu when in Finder that you can search for by using the search terms "shortcuts for dialogues" which I beleive is what you are referring to.

After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans at full speed.

The mid 2011 IMAC had the same problem with LION. I changed hard drives, formatted, and installed a clean install of latest os x mavericks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:

Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

In addition, I have gone thru all the recommended checks with universal access and have booted from snow leopard dvd and the left arrow still does not work.
I have tried using the left arrow key in all of applications I use such as: excel, ms word, address book, calendar, iphoto, terminal, & highlighting an icon and using the arrows to move to another selected icon.
Here is the kicker! In addition, I purchased a logitech solar bluetooth keyboard and the arrows work fine with my ipad but do not work when paired with the macbook pro. All other keys work fine on the macbook pro using the bluetooth keyboard.
I believe this says that the problem is not in my macbook pro keyboard. So where can it be?
Can anyone think of any other rabbit holes I can search?

I would also like to add that I've reverted the two cd drive and hard drive mods I did and the laptop is back to factory hardware and there is 0 corrosion or mold visible.

Huh.. Interesting. I went back to check these proceedures and found there is a difference between using the return key or the space bar as the action command.
tabbing the blue ring moves the selection and then spacebar takes that action. The return key takes action of only the blue collored button.

how do i select russian keyboard in firefox os 1.3 (zte open c)? i have no russian keyboard in list of 'built-in keyboards' and in list of 'more keyboards'.

To give an update on this issue, here is the latest information I have:

Toggle selection screen

I am using the code below to create a toggling selection screen. So based on the radio button selected, it displays different select options. In BLOCK b3, the matnr and werks is obligatory, so when I try to change the screen, it gives out all required fields must be entered error. How to resolve this? I would like to change the screens even if the fields are left blank. But they need to be obligatory if I am on Screen 2

Please HELP!! MacBook stuck on "Select your Keyboard" screen after installing Snow Leopard on a brand new hard drive!

Hello, I just recently replaced my internal hard drive in my MacBook [from a 250gb to a blank/empty 750gb]. I managed to get OS X Snow Leopard installed with the DVD. Setup seems to run fine at first, I get the screen in space with the welcome message different languages while music plays. Then I'm asked to select my country, then here is my problem- the next screen asks me to "Select Your Keyboard", I select & click "Continue" button, then my Mac is just showing the spinning beachball & it stayed that way all night =( I don't know how to fix this. Anyone experience this or have any solutions for me? I'd appreciate any help! Thank you! [I've been googling since yesterday with no luck on finding an answer].

It's diagnostic software. It's supposed to help you find problems. I don't think anyone is making any software yet that fixes hardware problems.

On older MacBook Pro's both the USB I/O ports and the keyboard/trackpad are fed out of an integrated USB controller integrated into the South Bridge I/O controller. On newer models, the USB ports come out of an integrated North/South bridge controller and the keyboard/trackpad are handled by an SMC controller, which itself interfaces with the I/O controller. All of these items are on the logic board, and they're all unrepairable.
...unless of course the "internal drive [that] is installed in a cheap external case" is itself causing the problems. Another thing to try might be a different USB port, if you haven't done so already.
I didn't know the price for Scannerz went up. I could have sworn I only paid 30-some bucks for it. Maybe it was on sale at the time. I don't remember.

SOS!!! can not type username/password with heart symbol () to login with keyboard.

My child accidentally added heart symbol (♥) in username, and now I can not login into my macbook air as I can not type the ♥ symbol with keyboard. apple tech service said no such experience before.

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select

from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.

Stuck on select a keyboard screen

I just reinstalled snow leopard on my macbook because the HD was having issues. I restarted it and it got stuck on the select a keyboard screen. I tried using fsck -f in single user mode and there are no known issues with the HD. I also tried to create a new admin account by using /sbin/mount -uaw and then rm /var/db/ .applesetupdone in single user mode. None of this has worked. Any ideas?

Well, this was a strange one. After paying another visit to the Genius bar, it was discovered my replacement hard drive was in fact the problem - the Mac simply couldn't see it. (The technician confirmed that none of them had ever encountered such an issue.) So with yet another new hard drive, the link above worked. Ie, first format the drive, then the restore will be able to 'see' the destination.

Can't select with Mouse or Trackpad

I use an ibook G4 mid 2005 and a blue tooth wireless mouse. Suddenly I can't select with the trackpad or mouse. I can move the cusor but I can't click on anything. Keyboard shortcuts still work. I have tried:
restarting, resetting PMU, re-installing security updates, re-installing software, rebooting with the disk. I can't actually finish the re-installs because I can't select the "continue" button in the installer without using a mouse or touch pad. I have tried every combination of keys but I can't seem to do it.
This occurred after I denied the last software update on April 5 2008. My logs show the last update to be a security update 2008-002. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

We have the same problem, intermittently, on an Intel iMac with
Mac OS X 10.4.10 and an Apple USB mouse (not wireless). In our
case the problem goes away with either one of the following
actions:
1. User logs out using keyboard appleshiftQ, and logs back in.
2. Reboot the computer.
It might be possible to fix the problem by pressing appleshiftQ
and then pressing apple+. to abort the logout procedure, but we
haven't had a chance to test this.
Reconnecting the mouse to different USB jacks has no affect.
Using the mouse via ARD works fine even though the wired mouse
click does not work. After using a mouse via ARD the wired mouse
still does not work.

Delete files with keyboard-shortcuts

just wanted to know a few tricks or keyboard shortcuts.
on a pc, when i deleted some files, i always pressed the del-button and then the right-arrow to select 'yes'
on the mac it doesn't work the same. you press the cmd+backspace but when i press de right-arrow to select 'yes', it doesn't work.
it means i have to grab the mouse again. is there some shortcut or key to completely perform this operation with the keyboard.

Sure there is. Select full keyboard access in System Preferences/Keyboard. You will then be able to move around all dialogue boxes (and other controls) via TAB. In addition to ENTER which selects the glowing button, SPACE selects the blue surrounded button.
You can also disable Finder’s "Do you reall want to delete" dialogue in its preferences.
