Toggling Between iTunes Library and Music Store

Does anyone know if there's a way to toggle between the Music Store and the most recent view in your iTunes Library? For example, if my current Library view is of a particular Artist, then I go to the Music Store, when I return to the Library, the display defaults to All Genres, All Artists, All Albums.
Gateway PC   Windows XP

Try double clicking the music store to open it in a new window. You can do the same for any playlists etc. In seperate windows, they won't affect one another.

  • Swipe between iTunes library and iTunes store

I don't know how I did it...but the other day I was swiping between my iTunes library and the store.  I find a song, swipe to my library and see if I had it, swipe back to the store to buy or look at another song.
    How did I do this??
    Thanks.

You can do this by double-clicking on the store to open it in a separate window.  Use Lion's mission control and drag the store window to it's own desktop.  Then you can swipe back and forth between them with the magic mouse or a trackpad using a two-fingered swipe.

  • Transfer iTunes Library and Music to new computer

I know this has probably been asked many times before but can anyone help me transfer my iTunes Library and Music files to my new computer. I just bought a new iMac and need to move things. I had previously moved my Music files to my external hard drive as my old computer hard drive was getting full. So I have my Library on my old computer and my Music files on my external hard drive. I want to transfer both onto my new computer (both on internal hard drive).
    How do I do this?

Yes, read the other discussion and what I am saying to do is copy the iTunes folder from the internal drive onto the external drive with the music already stored there.
You should now be able to open the library directly from that location using the linked start up directions from the other thread. If that works, you can then move the drive to another computer and open the library there using the same start up instructions.

  • Discrepancy between iTunes library and synced iPod song list

I am sure there must be a really simple answer to this, but heck if I know.
My iTunes library on my PC has 1614 songs, yet despite my iPod being sync'd, my song list shows only 1588 songs.
So, 25 tracks have not loaded - why is this? Surely there should be exactly the same number of tracks in my song list?
    H E L P - its driving me mad.

I have a 24 track difference between my itunes library and my song list in my synced ipod. Really bugging me as I don't know why - have ensured all songs are checked, but still no answer. Where are the missing 24 songs?
Surely someone out there must know the answer - HELP!

  • ITunes 6 and Music Store Library Browser

Did the upgrade to iTunes 6. So far so good until I accessed the Music Store. When I try to browse the Music Store using the library I get "Could not complete the Music Store request. the store may be busy. Check your internet connection and try again".
So, whats gone wrong with this then???

I upgraded to Version 6.0.1.3 a month or so ago. This is still the latest version as of today, 12/4/2005. Everything was fine until I upgraded from a dial-up ISP service to Comcast broadband.
Now I am getting the same error the you described and am completely unable to use the iTunes Music store.
Everything else on my PC works 100% fine with the upgrade. With iTunes, however I'm getting the message:
"Could not complete the Music Store Request. The store may be busy. Check your internet connection or try again later."
I purchased the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod with the thought that Apple support would be able to offer some assistance with problems such as this.
The support technician asked me to uninstall and re-install iTunes. This was not successful. He then said that that was all the assistance he could provide and suggested that I send an e-mail to iTunes Music Store support! What a joke. Is this the best support Apple can provide throught the AppleCare Protection Plan?
Today, I heard back from iTunes support. They merely sent me a link to their website and said that going through the steps outlined there should solve the problem. I had already tried these steps unsuccessfully including the following:
    1) "Your copy of the iTunes application may be out of date." Check that the version is the most current: Yes, installed version is 6.0.1.3.
    2) "You may need to reset your keychain." I am using a Windows 2000 SP4 system so this does not apply.
    3) "You upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2." I am running Windows 2000, with Service Pack 4. There is no firewall included in this release of Windows, and I have no 3rd party firewall installed.
    4) "You upgraded to a high-speed or wireless Internet connection." Recently I switched from a dial-up ISP to Comcast broadband access. I have no firewall software installed on my PC. I am also not using a router with this
system that could include a firewall. Symantec anti-virus, is running on this machine. It has been installed for over a year and I have had no problem connecting to the iTunes Music store with it running.
    5) "You switched to a new ISP." I contacted Comcast technical support. It is their policy NOT to block any ports. I also use the same cable modem with my laptop from work to run database and software development tools that require ports not to be blocked and have had no problems. Therefore I believe their statement is true.
From what I'm hearing on this board, this is a common problem that Apple has not addressed. If anyone has any hotfixes for this iTunes defect, please let me know.

  • Discrepancy between iTunes Library and iTunes music library in Finder

iTunes is reporting that I have 2313 files @ 13.96GB
but when im looking at the iTunes music folder within Finder(username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music, Finder reports that I've got 4400 files @ 20.13GB
iTunes is set to control my library at that folder.
    What's going on here...?
This is all under osx 10.6.2 and iTunes 9.0.2

The stats at the bottom of the screen when you look at the Music section of your library are just for music, there are separate totals for Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, iTunes U, Audiobooks, Applications & Ringtones. When you look at *iTunes\iTunes Music* in Finder this will contain all the files from all the sections. It is also possible that you have at some point deleted files from iTunes without deleting them from the hard disk or manually placed files within the iTunes Music folders and then neglected to import them into iTunes. If you have any *iTunes LPs* these will count as a single file in the iTunes library but typically contain 100s of individual files (html, artwork, scripts etc.). I don't know about Macs, but on a PC if the library is also accessed by Windows Media Player then there can be artwork placed in album folders adding to the file count shown in the operating system.
In short there is no reason to expect the numbers & sizes to match. That said, it is still possible that there are files in your folders that are not in your library, and vice versa. The following from Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes should help you check for any discpreancies:
Music Folder Files Not Added v2.0 - Lists files in your music folder that are not in your library.
List MIAs v1.2 - Lists files in your library that are not in your music folder.

  • Can't move iTunes Library and Music?

I have my iTunes Library on an external hard drive, and am trying to move it to my Mac's Music folder so that I can sync with iCloud and other devices.  I have copied all the Music files over successfully, and redirected iTunes towards the new location under Preferences/Advanced/Media Folder Location.  Music files are where they should be as I can see.  iTunes playlists all working... BUT, when I disconnect the external hard drive, iTunes can't locate the music file.  It must be "pointing" back to the hard drive.  Any clues as to how to break this link without losing music files or having to recreate playlists?

    Hi Cunnla,
Thanks for the advice. I did just that and then tried to eject the external HD but got an error message ("The disk couldn’t be ejected because “iTunes” is using it. Quit that application and try to eject the disk again"), even though the music folder is Home Folder > Music > iTunes (no the HD version).  I quit iTunes, ejected the HD, restarted iTunes and got a further error message ("The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?").  I guess iTunes would like me to relocate manually 2000 songs?  Yikes!  Any further thoughts?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Transferring Itunes Library and Music to a Windows 7

I am struggling to find a easy and successful way of transferring my music files and iTunes Library from my old Dell to my Windows 7. Help me please.

See if my reply in this thread makes anything clearer. Ideally you just copy the whole iTunes folder from one machine to the other. If you put the main iTunes library folder into the default location on the new machine, i.e. inside the user's Music folder then fire up iTunes it should work fine.
It only gets complicated if the library files and media folders were/are not in the standard layout. If you had previously copied just the media folder without the library files then these will need to be copied over and put in the correct relationship with the media folder. If the old library/media folders were in a split layout then normalise things on the old machine as described in my post before oopying across.

  • Certain tracks won't sync between iTunes library and iPhone

I have tried repeatedly to get an audio book I've uploaded to iTunes from CD to synch to my iPhone.  It only transfers one disc, despite me putting all of them into a Books playlist. The sych just ignores the content!
    Any clues, anyone?

Realised I had an iTunes update waiting to be installed (11.1.3 (8)). Installed. Synced iPhone, still no luck. Went into Photos section and unchecked "All photos..." and checked "Selected albums" then checked all albums (including new ones that wouldn't sync) and they ended up getting synced. All is well.

  • I accidentally erased a music album that I purchased on iTunes. How can I get the iTunes store to recognize that it is no longer in my iTunes library and download it again?

I accidentally erased a music album that I purchased on iTunes. How can I get the iTunes store to recognize that it is no longer in my iTunes library and download it again?

Delete the broken links in iTunes then look at your purchased list to redownload.
If this happened because you were deleting files from the iTunes folder in Finder, don't.  You have to let iTunes do all the deleting and moving or you will end up with broken links.

  • HT4436 I have now downloaded all of my CD's to my itunes library and have since only purchased new music using itunes Store.  This itunes library is stored on an old Dell Desktop that I am getting ready to replace with an iMac; how can I move the music? 8

Is the music I downloaded from my CD's already in the iCloud or only the music I purchased on itunes?

    Hello RumDog,
I think this article will help you find the media in your library.
Where are my iTunes files located?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
Discovering and changing the iTunes Media folder location
Note: You would usually only change the iTunes Media folder location to share music between accounts on the same computer. See this article for specific steps on how to accomplish this. Also, see this article if you want to know how to move your music to a new computer.
Mac OS X: Click the iTunes menu and choose Preferences.
Windows: Click the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
Click the Advanced pane. iTunes displays the location of your iTunes Media folder.
    You can then:
Note where your media folder is, such as for backing up your media.
Use the Reset button to reset it's location to the default (which is the iTunes folder).
Click the Change button to select a folder for a new location. Once you change this location:
If you make a new or alternate iTunes library, the new location will be used by that library.
Existing files will not be moved unless you choose File > Library > Organize library and choose the option to "Consolidate files."

  • How do I permanently delete music from iTunes library and iPhone?

I had some old music I didn't like anymore so I went to delete it but it still shows up in my iTunes library and my phone. I plug in my phone to my laptop and in iTunes, all of the apparently deleted songs are gray text instead of black and they all have a gray, dotted circle next to it and this is really bothering me because all I see is clutter. Same goes for my phone. When "Show All Music" is turned off, I don't see any of the deleted songs which is what I want but when it's turned on, they come back with the iCloud symbol next to it and I don't like that at all. I want ALL of my songs to be PERMANENTLY DELETED meaning that if "Show All Music" is turned on or off, I don't want to see the music in my phone or in my iTunes library.

    Hi Jessica,
I found an article how you could do that on iTunes: iTunes Store: How to delete songs from iCloud - Apple Support and another blog post on this issue: http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-to/delete-phantom-icloud-songs-your-iphone-015457 5/
    Give it a try.
    With kind regards,
    David
