Told by suport to post here with my 4.0 "problems"

Ok. Worked just like everyone else phone before the 4.0 update. No hacked/cracked or jail broken 3G just your average user here. After the LOOOONG update, my Battery life goes from an already shot life (but at least a day use) to 40 min to 1 hour of sloppy use and then the "20min warning" that gives me not 20min BUT 3-5MIN!
Phone is slow to open ITS own apps such as text. Ok trying to deal with my phone lagging 20-30sec just for the text app to show on the page, then typing much faster than the keyboard can keep up )Folks im a slow typer ok) and it lags to "keep up with me!" now remember it already is lagging so it takes 2-3 pushes of a contact name to even start the typing!
All other apple apps NOTES opens slow laggy, the camera (oh lord dont let there be something i need to take a fast pic of because its was an already slow app now just SUPER slower..same with contact use or PHONE use. When I type in a phone number to call, nothing is shown on screen for a few sec! NOT EVEN 911!!!! bad apple, bad 4.0! this is nuts, hey, I paid for my phone like the rest of you, I got suckered into the 2 year FORCED contract that ATT has if you even "want an iphone" why is my phone laging, slow and at times frozen, even after a FULL reset through itunes??
Oh and by the way, I did the test account (you know no apps installed but only apples, and still lag lag freeze! not to mention no solution for me other than PLEASE GO TO bla bla bla apple support and post there your problems, Thank you for calling apple, oh yes sir you do have the extra support that you paid for, but have a nice day and please do post on our website!!!!!!)

Try this:
System preferences -> network
change show menu to Network Port Configurations
highlight built-in ethernet, click delete on the right side
confirm the removal
it will recreate the built-in ethernet port unchecked and probably at the bottom of the list
check the check box and move built-in ethernet to the top of the list
change Show: to built-in ethernet, click the PPP0E tab, check "connect using PPPoE" and enter your DSL information
click "PPPoE options" button and make sure you check "connect automatically when needed"
click apply now
power cycle your DSL modem
launch Safari and see if your connection is back
if that doesn't work go to Applications -> Utilities -> Network Utility
click the ping tab and ping your ethernet port (127.0.0.1) 10 times.
If it can't ping or returns packet loss, you'll more than likely want to take it in for service. You can run the Apple Hardware Test (on install disk 1) to confirm hardware issues.

Newbie here with a host of problems

Just got my I ipod touch and besides having to re-register every time I log on, I am also having problems with my ipod being seen as a device in itunes. Somehow I managed to download one song from itunes and play it on my ipod. When I went back on itunes to purchase another song, not only did it not recognize the ipod again, but I could not sync the new song and then the first song that I did sync was no longer on my ipod. What happened to the song that I downloaded? I am so disgusted. I can't get anything accomplished. Please help!

My advice would be to make sure you have the latest software. When you connect your IPT (iPod Touch) to your computer, iTunes should show your IPT. The latest software is 1.1.3. If you have 1.1.1, update to 1.1.2. and then to 1.1.3. You can find out which version you have in one of two ways: 1) On your IPT (not hooked to the computer) at the home screen, select Settings->General->About. You should have Version 1.1.3 (4A93); 2) in iTunes, Click on the IPT and you'll see the Summary tab. It will let you know if you have an update available. Now if you don't have the updated software,click Check For Update. If the update doesn't help, click the Restore button on iTunes. It'll reset your iPod and will sync everything back on.

Ipad syncing but won't go past agreement (was told to post here)

A friend has purchased an Ipad but is having a problem. When you plug it into mac it comes up in itunes and you have to agree the terms and conditions. You press Agree but the page never changes! and that means she can't sync the Ipad or anything
The laptop is connected to the internet is aswell (before you ask! haha)

If you cannot run Repair Disk from Disk Utility you are ARE NOT running it from the original Install Disk that came with the computer or the Snow Leopard Upgrade Disk you purchased. Please follow the directions I provided and you should be able to run Repair Disk form Disk Utilities.
Regarding Best Buy I would recommend NOT taking it to them for repair, if you have an Apple Store in your area please take it there. If you don't have an Apple Store within a couple of hour drive use this link to locate an AASP to take your machine to.
I am assuming you have your Time Machine backups on an external HD. If so they are safe for now. In the event you need to reformat the internal HD on your MBP and reinstall OS X you can use the TM backups to restore from.
Regarding "do you think copying the disk as mentioned (from the disk utility) would work?" No that would not work.
Lets first see if Disk Utility can repair your internal HD. If for some reason that fails then you can run Apple Hardware Test and see if any HD errors are reported there. And finally if that doesn't come up with anything then you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or AASP.

I live in China as well and my iPhone5s is the model A1530 I bougth outside China. I have the same problem as Nikatnight with the iPhone while the iPad Air (wifi only) is working like a charm. It must be definitely something related to the carrier since I was abroad few days ago and everything worked well.
If you pay attention at the source of your maps, you'll discover they are provided by AutoNavi instead of TomTom and make them appear in chinese with their own border interpretation. Queries are only acceppted in Chinese (p.e. if I type in english "Los Angeles International Airport" it replies it cannot locate it)
I suppose everything will be fine when you'll be out of censorship....
Perhaps iOS Apple Maps are absolutely useless for expatriate in China.
Use Google Maps instead

Trying to Imitate the html POST method with an applet

I am trying to imitate the POST method with an applet, so that I can eventually send sound from a microphone to a PHP script which will store it in a file on a server. I am starting out by trying to post a simple line of text by making the PHP script think that it is receiving the text within a POST-ed file. The reason I am doing things this way is in part because I am, for the time being, limited to a shared server without any support for servlets or any other server side java.
The code I am trying is based in part on an old thread found elsewhere in this forum, concerning sending data to a PHP file by imitating the POST method:

My first attempt at code is below. The applet is in a signed jar file and is trying to pass a text line to the PHP script in the same directory and on the same server that the applet came from. It is doing this by sending header information that is supposed to be identical to what an html form would send if it was uploading a .txt file with the line of text within it. The applet displays one button. When you press it, it sucessfully starts up the postsim method (defined at the end), which is supposed to send the info to the PHP script at the server.
I have two questions:
1) I know that the PHP script is starting up, because it prints out a few messages depending on what happens. However, the script does not recognize any file coming down the line, so it does not save anyting on the server, and prints out a message saying the no file was uploaded.
Any idea what might be going wrong? I'm not getting any error messages from the applet. I've tried a few different variations of the 'header' information contained in the line:

The commented out line below it shows one variation (which was given in the thread mentioned above).

The reason is that the program crahes whenever I put the latter line in - to the extent that Opera closes down the JVM and then crashes when I tried to exit it.. I must be doing something horribly wrong there! I first tried using isFromServer = new DataInputStream(uc.getInputStream());
becuase it was consistent with the output stream, but that caused the same problem.

I was trying to write a signed applet that helps the
user of the applet to browse the local hard disk and
select a file from the same. The JFileChooser class
from Swing is what I used in my applet. The problem
is with the policy file. I am not able to trace the
exact way to write a policy file which gives a total
access to read,write,delete,execute on all the drives
of the local hard disk.
I am successful in signing the applets and performing
operations : read,write,delete & execute on a single
file but failing to grant permission for the entire
file.
Any help would be highly appreciated.Which policy file are you using? there might be more than one policy file.
also, u have to specify the alias of the signed certificate in the policy file to grant the necessary priviledges to the signed applet.

I was hung up on two times in a row today, a few seconds after I told them I had a problem with my purchase history. They charged me 18 bucks when they should have charged me 2 bucks. Some additional tips.
To post an image in  Discussions, create a Screen Shot of the image you wish to post.
Upload the image to an online storage facility, like one of these linked to below.
Flickr
ImageShack
PhotoBucket
PICVAULT
Twango
tinypic
imageno
Then use HTML formatting, to insert the URL of the location.
Use this format <img src="Insert URL Here">
Post the resulting line of text.
You can alternately insert the URL of the image between ! (Exclamation Marks) to have it appear in a post.
Keep the images small, and unobtrusive, when possible.
If the image is large, you can use this format:
<a href="Insert URL Here"target="_blank"><img src="Insert Same URL Here" width="Insert Desired Size Here"></a>
Desired Size is a number, dependent on the size to be displayed in the post, such as 20, 50, 200, etc. You can experiment with that number.
Below that type "Click to View Full Size".
The image will appear in the post at the size you selected, but when clicked, will open full screen.
You can also just post a Link/URL, to the image location, using this format:
<a href="Insert URL Here">Type Title Here</a>
Or use Skitch.

That is absolutely correct .Acrobat 9 pro is not compatible with Windows 7 .It might lead to certain conflicts while the downloading is in process .

Bank statement upload - change posting rule with search pattern function

Hi Experts,
I am trying to set up electronic bank statement. When clearing customer accounts I have some cases where the posting rule should be changed.
I have for example the following text somewhere in the reference field:
CASHPOOL.
If found, I would like the posting rule changed so only GL-area is posted and not a clearing on customer account required.
I set this up in the search pattern
C > G
A > L
S > 0
H > 1
P
O
O
L
GL01 is the posting rule, that only posts area 1.
I have assigned this pattern to the specific external code and also activated it. In the simulation function in the definition of the pattern I get the result (2 hits).
However, when reading the statement (FF_5) nothing is changed and also in simulation transaction FEBSTS or in statement post-processing I do not see anything.
Does anyone know whether I could get around this with the search pattern functionality here? What and how would I need to set it up to cover those case as above?
Any help much appreciated.

we have assigned the search string as well as the external transaction in global EBS settings to 031 algorithm`(customer from document nubmer), as in normal cases customer invoices are to be cleared here and this is working fine.
For this search pattern here with GL01 we would like to change the rule.
However, my tests with statement does not work for that. The rule stays as is.
So, from your words I read that I need to have here a second rule that changes the algorithm? Is this possible, what would I need to set so the original use is still working out (that customer items are cleared).

Perhaps if you can't change anything else maybe changing the size of that font might help.
Really, (and clearly) something needs to be changed about the way Discussions is organized. I see nothing but excuses about topics being mistakenly posted in the wrong forums.
I hope that something "is" being done to correct this issue in Discussion forums. Personally, I feel that far too many new users are posting in the wrong forums. The quantity of how many is way beyond what should be seen in my opinion. This has to show some proof that the way the Discussions is setup is just not working properly and corrections need to be made. And not just here in the Feedback About Discussions forum but across the board.
One can understand perhaps an erroneous topic being posted in, for example, 10.3 and earlier whereas it should be posted in the 10.4 Tiger forum where no huge banner states posting procedure but when one sees the amount of off topics in this forum it is just a joke now. Obviously, these users are not posting here intentionally knowing it is the wrong forum. For what ever reason they have wound up here and don't realize that it is incorrect. I believe it "is" the responsibility of the forums to make sure these posts are posted correctly and not by just moving them but to change the way the discussions are setup/operate so that it doesn't happen to begin with.

I have made suggestions, whereas others have not but have also asked for changes here in regards to posting topic probems.
A suggestion I have made was to force the user whichever way they enter discussions to fill in a form that directs the user to the most appropriate forum. This doesn't need to be a long form but I'm sure you have seen this type of form on other sites that narrow a search down.
I'm certainly not an expert (I assume Apple has enough on staff to handle the logistics) and would only venture a guess as to what might be asked on the form to narrow the search.
Most importantly, I can't believe that the form would be any more labor intensive on the user than navigating through the Discussion pages to get to an appropriate forum. And quite frankly, even if it were it would certainly direct the user to an appropriate forum saving huge amounts of wasted time trying to get their support.

I'm sure there would have to be other menu options (pop-ups and user filled info) for this type of search process but that is an abbreviated example for this excercise.
These directing forms are used all over the internet to direct the user to the appropriate product, support or otherwise.
I contend that the way that Discussions is presented currently that it needs this type of user interface to work properly.
In closure, I have to say that I don't believe in status quo and think that any change for the better is welcome and I bet all those novice users who struggle with posting topics correctly would agree. They obviously need more help than what is currently offered with posting.

I am new to SAP Financial accounting module and a learner. I have IDES access and i faced the follwoing difficult situation while posting outgoing payment in F110 by executing a payment proposal. The system is posting document with document dates entered in them but i want that system should post the documents with posting date at proposal run date. Can expert throw some light on this how to accomplish this.
