Toll free calling and automated menu recognition

When I phone a toll free number with my iPhone 5, the automated system is not receiving any of my input. For example, if the automated system says press 1 for English, I press 1 and it won't recognize I'm pressing 1. Or press 5 for sales, it won't recognize I'm pressing 5. Any solutions?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • Toll Free calls for "844" numbers

I need to explain to a person that does not understand how to Create a "Toll Free" calling path for the new 844 numbers. Is there any "How to" instructions i can give to them.  I would create it myself but the outsource company are the only ones that have access to make these changes in Call Manager.

If you mean TEHO/LCR that's a concept, we have no documents to tell you how to configure that, you need to clearly understand call routing and all it's elements to understand how to configure it for each scenario.

If they don't know how to do this, they might end up causing bigger issues when attempting to do this.

  • Exorbidant toll free call charges - no avenue prov...

I just noticed my account funds dropped sharply after a 'toll-free' 1300 call to Australia - it was over 4.5 euros for a short call. This is surprising - especially after I just paid for a 100 min 'subscription' to Australian mobiles and landlines. Why are 1300 numbers so expensive to call? Why arent they included in the 100 minute subscription?
I notice many enquiries about toll free calls on the community but no responses from skype.
I also notice the advice above :
'If you have a payment issue please contact Skype customer service as users here on the community can't help you with those'
Where can we access skype customer service?????? - I have been scouring over your website and still cant find anywhere where I can send billing/payment enquiries.
Will need to re-assess my use of skype due to trust issues
    David

Hi, David_ray, and welcome to the Community,
"Toll Free" numbers in Australia may not be included in your subscription; Skype Customer Service can clarify this.
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
Here are a few more notes to guide you along the way ...
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail.
If you are a Skype Premium or other eligible customer, you will be routed to start an instant message chat session with a Customer Service agent.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • Toll Free Calls

Do you get charged minutes when you make toll free calls?
    Thanks,
    lin3

"Toll-free" refers to the 800, 888, 866, 877 series of numbers that do not incur "toll" charges for a long distance call on landlines.
Landlines and cell phones work differently. Landlines are tied to a specific location, "local" calls are unlimited for the basic monthly access fee, then you have a long distance plan tacked on for calls outside the local area.
Cell phones have a monthly allowance of minutes, regardless of where you call to or from, and the term "long distance call" is meaningless - whether you care calling locally, long distance, or to a "toll-free" number, it still uses your minutes.
    Hope that explains it.....

  • Fair Use and Toll Free Calls

Can anyone tell me if calls to Toll Free phone numbers are included as part of the Fair Use limits of Skype?
We use skype to call into training sessions that can run for 8 hours and we have it the 6 hour limit.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
Fair usage policy doesn't apply to toll free numbers, because you can call these numbers without a subscription: https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/FA24

  • My safari keeps popping up this pop up telling me to call this toll free number and its not letting my close it or go onto other tabs.

I went on this website to watch soccer and then this pop up  jumps up and blocks me from doing my stuff. it tells me to call this toll free number cause the mac detected suspicious activity. should i call it or bring it to apple so they can check up on it?

Force quit Safari, and then relaunch it with the Shift key held down. If that doesn’t work, disconnect the computer from the Internet.
You don’t need to take the computer to Apple to resolve this, and shouldn’t call the number under any circumstances; it’s a scam.

  • Toll-free calls "cannot be completed as dialed"

    message canceled

    Hi Ameen,
What is the complete call flow? ( eg PSTN --- gateway --- h323 -- cucm ---IP phone )
Does the call go straight from the gateway to the phone or does it go to a Translation pattern or an auto attendant?
Does the call work normally if the extension is called from an internal phone?
Is the issue being reported for only one extension or for all the calls coming through a particular gateway?

  • Getting Bombarded by Telemarketers and Toll-Free Numbers

Okay, let's start from the beginning:
Preface, we have had the same cell phone numbers for over 10 years and we have not had one telemarketing or unwanted call.
We started with Verizon Digital Voice on August 26th. By September 1st, we got our first telemarketing call. By September 15th, we had enough telemarketing calls to demand a phone number change.
When we got a new number, we demanded that the phone number be non-published (which the first number was supposed to be). We also received asistance with Incoming Call Block. We thought the issue was resolved. Dead Wrong.
    To bring things to a head, we are getting cushed by toll-free numbers and telemarketers. Here are the phone numbers that are currently in our Incoming Call Block list: (800) 238-3770    (800) 477-6441    (800) 715-6478    (800) 726-9594    (800) 727-1182    (800) 978-7819    (866) 265-5945    (866) 759-8002    (888) 277-8353    (888) 688-0224
Here is the problem, one of these numbers, (800) 477-6441, consistently gets through the block. I have done the following to try and resolve this issue:
    - Removed the phone number and add it back in
    - Forward the phone number to a Google Voice number
    - Added all personal and business phone numbers to the Federal Do-Not-Call list
We are getting very annoyed with this situation and have even thought about getting something like http://www.digitone.com/ to supplement the phone service. Is there anything that we can do outside of added hardware? Does Verizon offer a way to block all toll-free numbers?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Oh, okay. Thanks for clarifying. Luckily for us, there is no Early Termination Fee because we are not under contract. Our complex has a terrific deal with Verizon which includes no contract. That being said, if we do decide to get the device, I will absolutely give a honest, objective review.

  • Cannot dial toll-free numbers

This morning I had to call an 866- number, and received a recorded message from Verizon "We're sorry, your number cannot be completed as dialed.  Please check the number and try again....blah blah".   Repeated attempts produced only a fast "busy" signal.  This number is in my CONTACTS and I've called it numerous times in the past, so I know I have the right number!  Tried to dial from my husband's wireless phone and got the same recorded message.
I then tried to call various long-distance (non-verizon) numbers - no problem.
Called a local number (non-verizon) - no problem.
Then I tried an 800- number and received the same recorded message as above.
I do not have a land line, so I went to my neighbor's house to make the 866- phone call from her land line -- no problem!  The call went through immediately.
Just wondering if there is a known problem with toll-free calls right now??   Hopefully it's not just me and they're working on it!

There must be a fiber line cut somewhere around us as I can not call an 800 number either. I am about ten miles away from you.

  • Toll Free termination issues

Over the past several days I've had issues with calling several toll free numbers which end up in the Cincinnati area.  Called the toll free provider and they don't see an issue but said they look like dropped calls coming into their network from an interconnect.  A few friends have also noticed the issue as well.  We make a call to the toll free.  The call will ring a few times then disconnect.  Almost like a time out or something.  Any ideas or known issues?

No.  It seems to be several toll free numbers.  I can only make it happen when calling via verizon wireless.  I opened a ticket with vwsupport and they looked at several things then sent it on to the network guys.  I also have had conversations with the toll free owner and carrier.  They are seeing the issue coming into them and trying to sort it out from that direction as well.  Must be an issue either in the vw core network or some intermediate between you and the terminating carrier, which I think in this case is Cincinnati Bell Any Distance.

You'll have to find a provider of USA toll-free numbers, and see if that is possible.  It may be, but not through Skype.

  • Renewing blocks on specific numbers for calls and messages

I need to renew existing blocks on specific numbers that show an expiration date of today (8/1/11)  How do I do that?  The numbers still show on the lines, but I have no way of verifying that the blocks are still in place or removed.  Please help.  Thanks.

    Hi Cgriff,
The free Call and Message block that we offer lasts 90 days. However, please note that you are able to change this at any time. For example, the block can be removed before the 90 days is up. In your case, you mention that you want to renew the block. Youc an do so by going in and removing, then re-adding the block. This starts a new 90-day block. It is easier tis way, since you can change the information whenever you want. Below are the steps to follow, for your convenience.
Call and Message Blocking can be added/removed online by signing in to My Verizon using your Account Owner user ID and password and doing the following:
    1.        Click on “Block Calls & Messages” icon located under “Plan” in the “I Want To” section at the bottom of your home page.
    2.        Click on the “Call and Message Blocking” tab (next to Parental Controls.)
    3.        Enter up to five 10-digit numbers under the Call and Message Block tab and click "Apply" once completed.
We also offer Usage Controls, which does so much more than Call and Message Blocking. You can find the information for Usage Controls here:
    http://www.vzw.com/usagecontrols
Thank you for your posting and have a good day!

  • Free talk and Internet issue.

Im signed up for the unlimited offer that gives you free calls and Internet and I topped up by 20 euro last night to continue my free calls and Internet for another month I received the text to tell me I have topped up but the 20 euro hasn't been taken out of my account and I haven't received confirmation. Now I'm a couple days early topping up but that hasn't really been an issue in the past. Can you let me know what's up, thanks.
    Maria.

The 3rd of June was when the offer was renewed last but I had the 20 euro early to top up so I wanted to renew it early. I've been able to do it with all the offers I have had before.

  • Do I have to turn on cellular data to make hands-free calls

Do I have to turn on cellular data to make hands-free calls on the iPhone 6?  If so, REALLY, APPLE????  I have never had a smart phone and ALL of my low-tech phones allowed me to make hands-free calls and I did not have to use data (which is NOT free) to do it.  I know that I can ask Siri to make calls for me but how do I make hands-free calls when my data is turned off?

Siri does indeed require internet access to function, so yes, you would need to have cellular data turned on
