    Can VI server automatically close access for clients' VIs, if one of clients is already connected? and when first client closed reference, open access for other clients' VIs? I mean like when you use web publishing tools. If one user already uses front panel.. other just can wait until first one will finish.

  • Tomcat Server window closes automatically when I start it

    Hi,
    I am using Apache Tomcat 4.1 to work a small Web application. Each time when I start the Tomcat server the window comes up and closes automatically. Is something wrong with my configuration ?
    Do I have to make any changes to server.xml ?
    Pls help..
    Thanks,
    bobby.

    I think Tomcat 4.1 works fine with JDK1.5.0. Untill last week I was able to work on my application.
    This problem started after I did a reboot. Ever since then I am having this problem
    I tried to set the JAVA_HOME from the CATALINA_HOME dir and this is what I got,
    C:\PROGRA~1\APACHE~1\Tomcat 4.1\bin>set JAVA_HOME = C:\PROGRA~1\JAVA\jdk1.5.0_0
    C:\PROGRA~1\APACHE~1\Tomcat 4.1\bin>catalina run
    The JAVA_HOME environment variable is not defined correctly
    This environment variable is needed to run this program
    NB: JAVA_HOME should point to a JDK not a JRE
    Using CATALINA_BASE: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1
    Using CATALINA_HOME: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1
    Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\temp
    Using JAVA_HOME: C:\Program Files\JAVA\jdk1.5.0_00
    '-Dsun.io.useCanonCaches' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
    And when I did a sanity check this is what I got,
    C:\PROGRA~1\APACHE~1\Tomcat 4.1\bin>dir C:\PROGRA~1\JAVA\jdk1.5.0_0
    Volume in drive C is PCSRP21
    Volume Serial Number is D84F-A786
    Directory of C:\PROGRA~1\JAVA
    File Not Found
    C:\PROGRA~1\APACHE~1\Tomcat 4.1\bin>dir C:|PROGRA~1\JAVA\jdk1.5.0_00
    The system cannot find the path specified.
    C:\PROGRA~1\APACHE~1\Tomcat 4.1\bin>dir C:\PROGRA~1\JAVA\jdk1.5.0_00
    Volume in drive C is PCSRP21
    Volume Serial Number is D84F-A786
    Directory of C:\PROGRA~1\JAVA
    File Not Found
    Does this imply Tomcat is not able to recognize my Java directory ?
    Thanks,
    bobby.

  • Tomcat server is not running automatically

    Hi BO experts,
    I have installed SAP Business Objects XI 3.1 in my system and noticed that Tomcat server is not running in Central Configuration Manager where the status is "Stopped". If I start manually also it's not starting (In properties, the startup type is - Automatic).
    So I went this path "E:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\bin" and double clicked "startup.bat" then I am able to login into Infoview. Could please someone explain that is there any possible way to run Tomcat automatally so that i do not need to start up manually every time?
    Thanks in advance!!

    I'm assuming that whoever installed the Apex Listener installed it under the Apache Tomcat application server. This isn't officially supported by Oracle, but it does work. You start Tomcat by executing "startup.bat" in its bin directory on Windows or "startup.sh" on Linux or other Unix-like OSes. In Windows, it will keep running as long as the command window is open (but you can minimize it) or I believe there is a way to set it up as a service - I'm not a Windows guru. In *nix, you can add an ampersand to the command to keep it running in background, or set it up to run as a daemon.
    Altogether, you probably need someone to learn more about how to run Tomcat if the person who set it up for you is no longer available. There is plenty of information on-line - just use Google or Bing.

  • Tomcat Server Closes with JFrame Application

    When I open my JFrame Application, and decide to close it this application of mine closes together with my tomcat server... I suspect is the "System.exit(0);" in my JFrame application that causes it.
    Can anyone tell me what I should do to my JFrame application so when I closes it, it will not close my Tomcat server at the same time.
    Thank You : )
    Regards,
    RainbowEnergies

    It probably is the System.exit(0); You should remove that.
    Tomcat is a container which essentially means it's a sort of "main program" that calls your servlets, JSP programs, etc. as "subroutines". When a subroutine calls "exit", the main program will shutdown.
    If you need the JFrame to "exit" when it's being run independently of Tomcat, move the System.exit() call to the "public static void main()" method. Tomcat will never call your class's "main" method, since it uses its own.

    This is not a common problem and probably not related to the JRE directly. You have something installed on your system that is doing this. I hope for you it is some sort of trigger happy protection software which you can control yourself, but I would consider doing a full spyware, malware and virusscan sweep using a respectable piece of scanning software.
    If you want to believe it is related to Java, then completely uninstall your JRE/JDK, do a ccleaner registry cleanup and then reinstall the JRE/JDK. If the problem persists, it really is not the JRE.

  • How can i avoid restarting tomcat server when servlet is modified?

    please advice me that how can i avoid restarting the tomcat server, whenever a servlet file is modified in my application. is their any way ?

    No probs. Here's how I do things...
    1. Install tomcat as normal (e.g. I install to C:\Apps\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.4)
    2. Create a webapps directory in your eclipse project with the following directory structure
    MyEclipseProject
       - src
       - conf
       - webapps
          - MyApplication
             - META-INF
             - WEB-INF
                - classes
                - lib
                - pages3. Set the project's output folder (e.g. bin folder) to webapps/MyApplication/WEB-INF/classes
    4. Put all your jar files in the lib directory
    5. Put JSPs / HTML in the pages directory (you may also want to create additional directories for TLDs, config files etc)
    6. Ensure your web.xml is in the WEB-INF directory
    7. Although it isn't essential I create a context.xml file and store it in META-INF, e.g.
    <Context reloadable="true">
        <!-- Default set of monitored resources -->
         <WatchedResource>WEB-INF/web.xml</WatchedResource>
         <WatchedResource>WEB-INF/conf/struts/struts-config.xml</WatchedResource>
         <WatchedResource>WEB-INF/conf/struts/tiles-defs.xml</WatchedResource>
         <WatchedResource>WEB-INF/conf/struts/validation.xml</WatchedResource>
    </Context>I use this to set monitored resources that will trigger an automatic appliation reload and to configure JAAS (not shown). See the Tomcat documentation for additional information.
    8. In the 'conf' directory I create a server.xml file used to configure Tomcat (you can copy the one from your <TOMCAT_HOME>/conf/server.xml).
    After copying the file change appBase attribute in the host element to be the full path to the webapps directory. You can also change the HTTP and HTTPS ports if you wish
    9. Download and install the Tomcat Launcher plugin from Sysdeo.
    10. In Eclipse's Preferences menu you will see a new entry for Tomcat. Click this then
    a. Set your Tomcat Version
    b. Set your Tomcat Home
    c. Set "Context declaration mode" to server.xml
    d. Set the configuration file to the full path to your server.xml file created in step 8
    On the "Advanced " sub page select all relevant projects to add to the Tomcat classpath
    On the "JVM Settings" page add all the jars in your WEB-INF lib directory to the class path
    On the "Source Path" page select all relevant projects
    Now if you start Tomcat using the Tomcat icon, you will be able to remote debug your application. If you change web.xml (or any other file in your context.xml watched resources) it will automatically reload. Any changes to JSPs will automatically be picked up (providing your tell your browser not to use the page in cache - e.g. CTRL+F5 in IE)
    There are some limitations that I'm still working on however. Primarily that I haven't included the Tomcat Manager application in my webapps directory, so Sysdeo cannot perform a reload. This means that if I change a source file, and eclipse auotmatically rebuilds, Tomcat doesn't pick up the change unless I either change a watched resource file (e.g. web.xml) or stop and restart Tomcat.
    There's no reason why this can't be fixed, I just haven't got round to it yet.
    I'm sure there are lots of other (probably better) ways of achieving the same thing. This was the first method I tried and it worked, so I stuck with it. I'm not a Tomcat config guru and I'm sure other forum users could provide some improvements should they wish.
    Post if you get into trouble, however I won't be able to respond until next week.
    Cheers,
    Steve

    Edited by: sandy on Nov 9, 2010 8:59 AM

    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00904: "SANDY": invalid identifier
    Looks like the sql you are submitting is invalid.
    Print out a copy of the sql you are trying to run and you will probably get:
    SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = Sandy and password = secretThat isn't valid sql. It is missing quotes around the values you are checking.
    This is the corrected sql query:
    SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = 'Sandy' and password = 'secret'so one solution would be:
    String sql = "SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = '" + user + "' and password = '" + pwd + "' ";However that is not optimal. It exposes your code to sql injection attack.
    The better way is to use a prepared statement:
    String sql = "SELECT * FROM OURUSERS WHERE usr = ? and password =?";
    st = con.prepareStatement(sql);
    st.setString(1, user);
    st.setString(2, password);
    rs = st.executeQuery();cheers,

  • Still problem in TOMCAT(server.xml)

    hiiiiiii
    I tried all suggestion......At end, now when I execute %startTomcat% from DOS prompt......DOS windows opens and closes...... Somebody told me that it was error in my server.xml file in conf......
    PLZ tell me how alter this file or add new stuff.....

    Hi Amar,
    It was me who suggested the following steps
    Follow these steps:
    Download Java SDK 1.3 or 1.4
    Download tomcat 4.x or 5.x
    set the following variables from dos prompt
    set JAVA_HOME = path to your java sdk folder
    set CATALINA_HOME = path to tomcat folder
    set startTomcat = %CATALINA_HOME%\bin\startup
    set stopTomcat =%CATALINA_HOME%\bin\shutdown
    now at dos prompt
    type %startTomcat% , it should opena nother window which displays the status of tomcat server.
    In the browser type http://localhost:8080/ (for tomcat 4.x) or http://localhost:8084 (for tomcat5.x) it should open up the index page of the server.
    at your post http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=33&thread=542123
    First I suggest thta you donot repost same question, it wont help and next be clear what is the problem if possible post the error that might to provide you the solution.

    Which is the main causes to server slow down???.....How to solve this problem????

    The first message seems to indicate that a connection was made on the socket but closed prematurely. I get this often on my Tomcat installation when our corporate virus scanners kick in, probing network ports. I wouldn't worry about that one.
    The second one is indicating a deadlock on your database. I would say that your problem lies there.

    sachindere76 ,
    good question, but this is not the problem.
    I did re-code my "public int getCard1()" method though:
    it was:
    public int getCard1 () {
    return card1;
    and I changed it to:
    public String getCard1 () {
              return Integer.toString(card1);
    since my jsp page tag was aparently looking for a string to work with, returning a String from the method seems to have helped now.
    I rebooted my machine and re-strated jakarta-tomcat server to verify and it worked fine this time.
