Tomcat throws error on start-up

When starting Tomcat I get the following error in the Start Tomcat Console:
SEVERE:Parse Error at Line1 Column: Document Root Element "web-app" must match DOCTYPE root "null"
What does this error mean and how do I fix (what file must I edit)?

Could u clarify something for me please Philip..
When I installed Tomcat it came with sub directories of the webapps directory; eg: ROOT, examples, etc..Each of these directories contains another folder/directory; WEB-INF. In everyone of these WEB-INF folders exists a web.xml file.
Must I therefore create a web.xml in every WEB-INF folder that is in a sub-folder of the webapps folder???
eg: webapps->intranet->WEB-INF ....must there be a web.xml file in this directory?
If so, what content does it hold....?
I can still use my web application just fine....but still so, this error irritates me .......
any assistance from anyone will be appreciated..

Live Cache x_server throwing error when starting

Hi,
When i'm trying to start the Live Cache X_server , It is giving the below error:

Putting the dtd on a machine that it can see solved it... would be nice if the doc mentioned that your test machine (the one that it warns is insecure as everything is installed as root etc etc) needs to have outgoing internet access...

Webserver throwing error when starting up portal demo

Director and Server Console Throw Error on Start

Hi all,
It seems that out of the blue we are now experiencing errors whenever we try to open director or server console. The error that we are shown is:
handler feature warm up
We have tried restoring the server backups from a day that it was known to be working. It acted as a temporary solution. There have been no changes to the system configuration or code base, and we then get the error again after a few hours.
Any thoughts on what the issue may be?

This one works for me too.
But I'm still wondering why this work for me for couple of months without this element in web.xml and now suddenly need it.
Problem noticed in eclipse + tomcat so I figured that must be some changes in that configuration that causes need for declaring this listener in web.xml

It seems like the JVM is pointing to incorrect .dll file.
Goto Apache bin directory, and from there open Apache[version]W.exe
Click the "Java" tab and ensure the first textbox "Java Virtual Machine" is pointed to the correct jvm.dll
If it was pointed to the JDK then it is wrong. Repoint it to the jre jvm located at \jre6\bin\client\jvm.dll
Let me know if it resolves the issue.

Tomcat startup error: can't start server

Hi!
I got Jbuilder 8, it contains Tomcat 3.1, Tomcat 4.0, Tomcat 4.1 servers.
When I develop in the IDE, the JBuilder 8 can start any of these servers.
But if I want to use Tomcat 4.1 alone (independent from JBuilder), it doesn't works.
I followed the steps written in Tomcat installation instructions (setting path, environment variables), but when I try to run startup.bat it's opened a new window for a minute (I think with error message), and close it too fast to read the message.
The first DOS window shows:
USING Java_home.......
USING Catalina_home......
etc.
and nothing else, but Tomcat doesn't run.
I can start Tomcat 3.1 this way, but not the other two (4.0, 4.1)

FR Studio started throwing error after environment restart

Hi All,
We have distributed Hyperion EPM installation (Version 11.1.2.0) in windows and repository resides in MS sql server.
It is quite stable environment and everything was working fine till sometime back .
However, recently these windows servers got patched (some OS level patching) and post that we restarted our services , FR studio started throwing error while connecting:
"You are not authorized to use this functionality "
We checked the services and verified if there is any issue on port or firewall level but there was none.
Also while logging to workspace users get this message 'The startup document specified doesn't exist in the repository'.
Just wondering what could cause this issue and how to troubleshoot this as nothing has changed in environment aprat from windows patching.

We could get the issue fixed by adding some additional entries in host files of foundation server and FR server.
In the server where we have FR server installed , we found log file 'registry' at E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\ and got the hint that server was trying to communicate with wrong host name (not sure why) which actually don't exist in our environment.
Once we mapped that incorrect host names in host files to the correct host name and ip in host files of servers, issue got resolved.
Now we would be finding why servers started to refer other server with wrong host name and to fix that we had to explicitly add entries to host files which was not the case earlier.

Starting an array of DAQmx tasks throws error 50103 on start

Hello,
I am creating and starting a number of tasks from an enum array which will be subsequently used to read data from devices. The issue is that the second iteration of the starting loop throws error 50103 (specified resource reserved).
When I carried out some testing I discovered that the tasks are set up correctly and the error is thrown only on the start task.
I have attached the section of code for reference.

I have to call the start vi more than once as the tasks are contained within an array. As I understand (but suspect I may be incorrect), that for each case corresponding to the input enum array, the task within that case is started (once) due to the auto indexing of the array.
This is a subVI which is only called once in the application. The output from this should be a list of started tasks which I use in subsequent read operations until the program is complete, where the tasks are then cleared down.
Apologies if I have repeated myself, but I am trying to understand how this works, since what I am seeing does not seem to make any sense to me.

Dave had given you already some good advice.
Your code is not only too complicated, but you have also probably a bug in it. You have for instance a QNstart as to_date('01.01, 'dd.mm') and a corresponding QNfinish as to_date('31.03', 'dd.mm'). As this means, it is the time portion at 00:01, you are missing the complete last day of this interval. So you better do:

Error while starting Integrated Weblogic Server - Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4

I installed Jdevloper 11.1.1.4, and getting the below error while starting Integrated Weblogic Server:

The Server Instance cannot be started because the Integrated Weblogic domain was not built successfully.

I've checked for log files under my "C:\Documents and Settings\pramod.gujjeti\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.4.37.59.23" directory but no error/exception is traced.
Then I tried the below:

Error with table 'DocMetaDefinition'.
The column 'dDecimalScale' does not exist in this table.
I am using 11.1.1.6 free version of webcenter content and using appropriate database with required tables created by RCU of appropriate version and also using required weblogic server.
Is there anything like , we are not allowed to use stand alone application in free version ? or problem is something else.

I am using a non root user to start apachectl command

Error when starting SAP Business One Integration Server Service

Hi all,
I have a very urgent problem when installing B1iSN:
I'm installing B1iSN2007 for a customer (Windows server2008R2, SBO 8.8.1),
and at the beginning of the installation, after instaling the technology, I have an error,
The Tomcat server can't start.
I get the following error:
Windows could not start the SAP Business One Integartion service on Local Computer. For more Information, review the system
event Log.If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 0.
In the event viewer I didn't find any more details.
In the tomcat logs (Under SAP Business One Integration\B1iServer\tomcat\logs) I find this:

I didn't install EventSender and DIProxy yet, I tried first to upload and deploy the zip files, but I couldn't open the Itegration Application Explorer.
2.
The jvm.dll file is in in the folder pointed by the logs: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One Integration\jdk1.5.0_xx_sap\jre\bin\server
and it is also in C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One Integration\jdk1.5.0_xx_sap_64\jre\bin\server
I tried running the file java5w.exe, but I got an error message:
Access is denied
Unable to open the service tomcat5
Thne I managed to open it by "rua as administrator".
the Java Virtual Machine path is points to the java 1.5 version folder.
Is it possible that the reason that the service can't start is related to administrator rigts??
In the properties in the Integration Service (services.msc):
It is set to be run with the local system account.
all other properties looks fine.
in the properties of the tomcat5.exe (and tomcat5w.exe , I tried both)
In the Compatibility tab I tried setting the flag "Run this program in compatibility mode for" to Vista, windows 7, and server 2008
I didn't have the option of Windows XP.
I have also set the Privilege level of: "Run this program as administrator" to true.
But still the service won't start.
What can be the problem?
What else can I check?
