Tomcat7 is utlizing 100% CPU on windows servers

Hello,
Recently we have upgraded from BI4.0 Sp06 to BI4.1 SP2 patch2. After upgrade we are seeing 100% CPU utilization for tomcat7.exe service on our tomcat web servers. We have dedicated server for tomcat. We are on Windows 2008 R2 servers. Did anyone see this performance issue after upgrade to BI4.1. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Chris,
    We have done the below modifications for our dashboards.
1.       1.Converted all older (3.1 version)  version QAAWS to 4.1 version, republished and re-map themin      dashboard
2.        2.Modified all “InLIst” prompt properties in QAAWS  to “Equal to”
3.       3.All Score Cards, Combo Filters and List Box general properties updated to “Interactions Only” (not  Data Changed and Interaction). When updating this, you need to make sure you have default value in  excel so dashboard refresh using default values when opening first time.

    Hi all,
    every time my oracle database is hanging when the application run, the problem is the oracle.exe consum 100% CPU but not memory and the server hang and the dabase is going to inaccessible, we need to restart oracle instance service or server to bring the databas eback to normal but it's not permanent because the problem occurs once the application turn on.

    Is this a new application on this database?
    Has it run well in the past?
    I have had this happen before on a 32bit Windows server. Our problem was a poorly written procedure that kept pegging the cpu to 100%. You should be able to figure out what SQL is being used that is causing this problem, it will be the Top Working SQL most likely.
    I also had this problem on a Logical Standby server which was trying to apply SQL to the SYS.AUD$ table. As soon as SQL Apply was started, the CPU went to 100%. Once I truncated that table, the cpu usage went back to normal. Not sure what you are using to monitor your database but if you can, try to find out what SQL is running when your CPU goes to 100%.

  • Oracle.exe is consuming 100% cpu o windows

    Hi,
    We have 6 oracle 10g database on windows box and from task manager we are able to see oracle.exe is consuming 100% cpu
    Need to know this oracle.exe belongs to which database and can i get the sql for this process
    Thanks

    On my Vista PC, I find that the easiest way to identify which instance an oracle.exe is, is the task manager. On the Processes tab, right-click the oracle.exe and then click Go To Service(s) and that takes me to the OracleServiceORCL or whichever insance it is.
    I'm sure there is a better way that a Windows person could tell us about. Then having identified the instance, it is just normal tuning from there.

  • QuickTime 7.1.3 uses 100% CPU on Windows XP

    Hello,
    I installed and registered QuickTime Pro 7.1.3.100 on Windows XP Pro SP2, version 2002.
    Whenever I start QuickTime, the CPU usage jumps to 100% (all 100% used by QuickTime). I tried QuickTime 7.0.3.50 as well, same result...
    The reason that I upgraded to QTPro was that I needed to export WAV files as hinted movies. But
    1. when I open a WAV and export it as hinted MOV, and click 'Save', the 'Export Progress' popup says 'Initializing...' and then nothing happens no matter how long I wait.
    2. When I open File>Export>Options, none of the buttons in the Options popup respond when I click them, and I have to kill QuickTime via the Windows Task Manager.
    In other words, QuickTime really isn't worth anything in this state...
    Are the above issues known on Windows XP?
    Is there a way to solve them?
    Ciao,
    Guido

    When I try to open a QTVR on windows server 2003 (x64), all I get is a black screen. This must be the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  • Adl.exe eating up 100% CPU (CS5, Windows)

    Hi,
    In Flash Professional CS5 on Windows 7 (64bit), whenever I test a movie (ctrl+enter) targeted at AIR, the adl.exe process starts eating up 100% of the cpu at intervals, that is:
    - adl.exe eats up 100% of the cpu for several seconds
    - then back to normal for several seconds
    - then eats up 100% of the CPU again for several seconds
    and so on.
    I see it in the task manager that the process eating up all CPU is adl.exe; obviously the application being tested (and the whole computer) becomes almost unresponsive on CPU peaks.
    If I publish the very same test app as an air package, install and run it, it runs fine, with near to 0% cpu consumption, which is normal.
    The raise in CPU consumption does not coincide with anything significant happening, it seems just a random (though almost regular in intervals) oscillation, with no apparent cause.
    My swf is not very cpu greedy, it is almost idle. I do ctrl+enter and then don't touch anything, just leave it running (which does almost nothing) and the CPU usage goes up and down. I repeat, this does NOT happen if I publish, install and run the AIR application without the ADL debug launcher.
    Has anybody run into the same problem?
    Is there any fix?
    thanks
    m.

    Hi ,
    Would you mind help me with following questions :
    1. What is your AIR version? Could you please  have a try on our latest AIR build(http://get.adobe.com/air/?promoid=BUIGQ)
    2. In Which running mode you encounter this performance issue? In an IDE , or installing it? According to the  prior post, matteosistisette met this issue when running it on Flash CS5 with ctrl+enter NOT by installing it after packaging it as an AIR file
    3. I tried with winxp on some  machines (such as; dell OPTIPLEX 760 and laptop thinkpad :T400) , using adl to launch it .
       Set it to the front application ,and do nothing, the cpu is 20% - 23%
       Minimize the application, and the cup is 0% – 2%
       Do some operations on the app , it is 30% - 70%
       So have you tried on other machines, such as : winxp on PC instead of na Imac, ,and what's the  CPU usage? and relevant PC processor and memory info
    4.A little confused about the following info  you mentioned:
    "I speak of the screen following
    the name entry, once all transitions have finished and the puzzle has
    exploded it's pieces and the main menu is simply sitting idle"
    that the main menu sit idle is the expected result/designed by your app, right?
    thanks

  • Server 2012R2 Windows backup 100% CPU usage and no backup

    Hello!
    I have a problem with two VM´s on a HP Proliant ML350p Gen8, that has Windows Server 2012R2 operating system with Hyper-V role installed.
    Both VM´s are also 2012R2, one is DC/DNS/FILE/PRINT and the other one is Exchange 2013.
    The problem itself is that, when Windows backup (wbengine.exe - Block level backup engine service) inside VM starts, it uses almost maximum CPU resource, so the VM´s CPUs are 100% used. Backup itself is not working, there is no network trafic. Only
    way to get rid of 100% CPU usage is to restart the server.
    When i start backup manually (Backup once - scheduled backup options), it is working and the CPU usage is around 20-30%.
    One VM (DC/DNS/FILE/PRINT) has 2x vCPU and Exchange has 4x vCPU.
    The problem started suddenly, the backup were performing slowly and failed.
    Backups are scheduled on different time. Host level Hyper-V backup of VM´s works without any problem.
    The backup location is Synology DS414 NAS and the servers are set up using iSCSI, for connecting separate backup lun´s for each server.
    The Hyper-V host and both VM´s are patched up-to-date. Ofcourse i have tried a lot of restarts, looking event log, VSSADMIN - cannot find any errors...
    The network setup:
    Hyper-V host has a team of two physical adapters, that is set up with a external virtual switch (shared with management operating system) and used by the VM`s normal network trafic.
    Hyper-V host itself is using separte physcial network card, for connecting with iSCSI to Synology NAS.
    I tried to set up another physical network card on the host and create a new virtual swich, add extra virtual nic to VM`s and use this for iSCSI traffic for Windows backup and it didnt make things better.
    I need to find a solution, because i cannot restart the server every night for the backups to work.

  • Firefox 15.0.1 stops responding (100% cpu) when a link opens in a new window.

    Whenever I click a link that is designed to open in a new window Firefox goes straight to 100% cpu usage and I have to go through the Windows "end now" sequence to close the program. I've tried opening one of the links in a new window but I think it was done in java not html (not sure if all the links are java when this happens as that's the only one I've tested). Not sure what details someone might need but this is on my Mom's older laptop with Windows XP Media Center Edition Ver. 2002 Service Pack 2. Hmmm just saw the SP2 will try to update and see what that does though I don't think that's the issue.

    So what is happening or not happening now ? The problem computer is your Moms, but I assume your own computer works ok. Have you tried that on the same internet connection as your Mom uses & visiting the same sites?
    Also try Internet Explorer. If that is also very slow the problem may not lie with Firefox.
    I suggest you try the Firefox Reset feature on your Mom's computer,
    * BUT first of all
    **make a note of the software extensions that are in use, and bookmark their download and support sites.
    ** back up the Firefox profile [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * follow the instructions in the following article, after reading the caution about what will be lost

  • 100% cpu utilization

    We have been struggling for few month now trying to figure out this problem. Application runs fine for few days (or even few weeks in some instances), and then load average (uptime) goes to 1 and cpu is becomes 100% utilized. If I leave it running, in few hours load average starts going up. The the entire application locks up when load average is around 15. Some of our applications actually have been running for few month before this happens.
    We are running on linux. The problem shows itself much faster on Redhat 9, its not as bad on Redhat8. Also, its much better under 1.4.2_02 jvm, and pretty bad on 1.4.2_06. It also happens in 1.5.0_01. It looks to be most stable with 1.5.0_01 with ConcurrentGC. We have few dozen servers each running at least 2 JVMs, and tested every combination possible.
    Our application is heavily thread, custom built. We have a load test running at 10 times the number of threads and can not replicate this problem within few days, so I believe it has nothing to do with the number of threads and the way we use them.

    General technique for Java apps that use 100% CPU is to take a series of thread dumps (send SIGQUIT on UNIX, Ctrl-Break on Windows), once a second for 10 seconds.
    When you analyze these dumps, look for threads that are consistently in Runnable state. If you've got some sort of loop running, you'll see the same set of threads Runnable in all the traces, and you'll see the stack trace showing what they're executing.
    Also, search the Bug Parade for your symptoms. Link is available from the main java.sun.com page.

  • Wireportserver.exe is consuming 100% cpu

    Hi Experts,
    We are using SAP BI 4.0 sp6 windows for our BO Application.From last week onwards we are experiencing system freeze as the WIreportserver.exe consuming 100% cpu.we have to manually kill it to make the system work again.Even restarting the servers doesn't help!
    Sometimes this issue happens when if there are no user logged in.Recently there are no changes made to the server.Hence not sure what
    might be the reason behind this.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards
    Kishore

    I would request you to confirm the below steps.
    1) If you are using Load balance then please increase the Load Balancer idle session timeout .
    2) Can you also do this test: Please do take backup of the file.
    1- Open folder : <Your BO install Folder>\Tomcat55\webapps\AnalyticalReporting\WEB-INF\classes
    2- Edit file : webi.properties
    3- Change the lines :
    #WID_FAILOVER_SIZE=10
    #WID_STORAGE_TOKEN_STACK_SIZE=10
    By:
    WID_FAILOVER_SIZE=0
    WID_STORAGE_TOKEN_STACK_SIZE=0
    4- Save ans close the file
    5- Restart tomcat
    6- check if the issue is resolved
    3) Purge the query and run the same one by one. Once it is done then refresh all the queries. With this we can get to know which query is causing the issue. If you find that few queries are taking long time then foloow the below steps for that specific queries:
    a. . Edit the report and go to Edit Query.
    b. At bottom you can see the name of the Query
    c. Right click on Query and click Duplicate Query. It will create a copy of the original query.
    d. And then delete the original query.
    e. Do the same step for all queries
    f. Run all queries and then test the issue again.
    4) Run the report in Webi Rich Client. If it works then Save the report with different name and in different folder. And export same in Repository. From the Infoview try to refresh the report.
    5) Please check if using Web mode is acceptable workaround.
    6) In Universe Designer> parameter> Controls, uncheck the option 'Limit Execution Time To' and 'Limit Result Set To' parameters. By doing this it will allow users to create queries that have not been tuned, run for extended period of time .
    7) It is always recommended to Schedule the report which are of large size instead of refreshing. I would suggest you to schedule the report to resolve the issue.

  • 100% CPU utilization on svchost.exe or Automatic Updates service

    We have upgraded from WSUS 2.0 to 3.0 SP1 and now have few Windows XP SP2 PCs that are extremely slow because the CPU is at 100% utilization running a process called "svchost.exe."  If I go into services and stop and disable the "Automatic Updates" service the CPU drop to normal almost instantly.  I tried forcing a reinstall of the Windows Update Agent.  After I enable the "Automatic Updates" service the machine works fine for a day, than after a reboot it goes back to 100% CPU utilization.  We need this fixed so we can get these computers updates.

    Hi Ryan / Folks,
    NO CA Products here - but I have had the same issues with Microsoft updates!
    Here's the install path I used during my experience :
    Cold install of XP with SP1 on the PC (Full factory system restore/rebuild).
    Acer - Semperon 1.8GHz + 1GB RAM - 8Mb ADSL connection to Internet
    XP SP2
    Windows updates OK - used to install IE7
    Reason - I found IE is compromised if you go straight to XP SP3
    XP SP3
    Next Office 2003 Pro
    Switch to Microsoft updates - Custom Updates - SVCHost issue - Still checking for updates after 15 minutes
    Switch back to Windows updates - Custom Updates - NO SVCHost Issue - Checking complete after 2 minutes
    Tried both Microsoft fixes mentioned above
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891
    Same report back - i.e. SP3 newer etc.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 - Method 2
    Seems to install ok
    Reboot PC
    Swich back to manual Microsoft Updates and all is not really rosey as the initial "checking updates" scan can take at least 5 minutes with SVCHost at better than 90% CPU usage. So I believe the issue is not fixed, but it is just about useable.
    Interestingly, no issues on my work LAN where I am the systems manager - 20 PCs and 8 servers using WSUS. All units are up to date and no SVCHost issues.
    So.... No fix yet here, however my solution is as follows:
    On the problematic PC I decided to switch back to Automatic Windows Updates. This keeps the PC up to date with all Operating System patches. Performance is not affected. I have decided that I will manually switch to the Microsoft update system once every couple of weeks or so to catch the updates for Office etc. I'll just have to set the updates scan running over a quiet period I suppose.
    Plan B = Manual Office Updates http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/downloads/default.aspx - Left Pane - Office Updates.
    Hope this sheds some light.
    Regards,
    Knaphie

  • Lightroom is very slow, utilizes 100% CPU, then freezes or closes program.  How do I fix it?

    I am having a problem with Lightroom 5 being very slow, utilizing 100% CPU, then freezing or closing the program.  How do I fix it?
    I just upgraded to LR5 from LR3 on Sunday as well as CS6 from CS5 (which I have not tried out yet).  I spent several hours talking with Vamil, from LR Support Staff yesterday.  He was extremely helpful and kind and tried everything he could think of while remote-handling my PC and talking with me on the phone.  He deleted preferences, cache, temp files, updated graphics with a new replacement file from AMD site, then re-downloaded and reinstalled LR5.
    It is still very slow and then freezes and closes down with a message of utilizing 100% CPU.  Within several seconds of using the brush in Develop, I started having lots of problems.  I could not even move the picture around.  The side screens would not disappear like they should.  And I could not move to another picture.  The day before I spent several hours trying to work on just 1 picture.  After all the changes yesterday, I tried to move from picture number 1 to about 130 after having not touched it for 10 minutes, and a half hour later, it still said, "Processing" with no picture coming up, just a blank prieview pane.
    LR Support suggested I get a new CPU though he thought according to specs mine should be ok and other programs were running fine.
    My PC is only 2 years old.
    I talked to HP briefly about CPU updates for my HP PC.  He said I probably do not have a problem but suggested I run self-diagnostics and maybe buy a new CPU anyway.
    I ran diagnostics listed through the HP Support Assistant connection on my PC.  All was ok.
    I still researched if I could buy a compatible CPU upgrade.  I cannot even find any CPUs still selling that are listed for my PC.  Best Buy Store said they could not even order a compatible CPU.  They said my Bus speed may not be big enough, so they suggest I get a new PC.  What Bus speed do I need?
    I have the following PC Setup:
         AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor 2.70 GHz with 6 Cores
              with 2700 MHz Base, 3200 MHz Boost, and 4000 System Bus Speed, and 95 watts;
         HP Pavilion Elite, HPE-500y, 900 GB Free, new in 2011;
         Windows 7, 64 Bit;
         RAM 16 GB, DDR3;
         Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6450;
         Nikon, D200, with Raw Files;
         External Hard Drive for Original Photos, 600 GB Free;
         LR Catalog and Library are on Main Hard Drive;
         Monitor, Sony CPD-200ES, new in 2004.
    I am thinking of buying a new monitor tonight mostly so I can do better photo work while enlarging the pictures to do it.  I am concerned that while it will help my viewing, it will take more power away, and make my usage of LR5 even worse.  Will a new monitor affect my performance?  I am looking at HP Monitors with IPS.  Is this the best recommended choice for LR and Photoshop CS6?
    I think I would like to stay with a 6 core processor since I need to have several items open for other non-Photoshop functions.  When running LR5, I had everything else closed.  With LR3, I was able to have other things open.
    I do not really want to buy a new computer and know that those I have talked with at this point are only guessing after looking for what they thought should fix it.  4 People from Lightroom Support have all thought I should not be having problems with my setup.
    I bought one of the best computers 2 years ago.  Is it really obsolete already so that I cannot use LR5?  Is everyone else buying a new PC every 2 years?  I used to go 5-7 years.
    Even though I have figured out some of what my PC has, I really do not know technically what I am talking about so am at the mercy of other's help.  Are there any solutions that might work short of buying a new computer?
    I also have taken 40th anniversary photos for some people and am waiting to give them as a free gift since I am not a professional at all.  I am hoping to get through this problem soon so that I can provide some nice memories for them.
    I have not gotten any further than trying to adjust 1 picture.  I have no comments on uploading speed, since I did that while still in LR3.
    Thank you for your time and help.

    I'm running LR with no speed issues on an Intel 17-860 quad core with about the same performance as your AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor. My system is also an HP, which originally had a single 1TB 7200 HDD. I've since added a second 2TB Black Caviar HDD, which provided no significant difference in LR's performance.
    AMD processors do not implement hyper-threading and don't need it. I'd start debug by process of elimination:
    1) Disconnect all externally attached USB, FireWire, or other externally connected devices except keyboard, mouse, and your single 1280 x1024 display. This includes all externally attached memory card readers, phones, ipads, etc.
    2) Reboot and logon as Administrator.
    3) Remove your Internet connection and turn off all Antivirus and firewall programs.
    4) Open LR and under Catalog Settings set 'Standard Preview Size' to 1440 (slightly larger than your display width). Under the Metadata tab here make sure 'Automatically Write changes into XMP is NOT checked.
    4) Create a 'New Catalog,' Create a new folder and add about 10 raw image file copies to it for testing, and Import it into the new catalog. In the Import module make sure under File Handling 'Render Previews' has 1:1 selected. Wait until all Preview building has completed in the Library module.
    Try editing these image files inside the new catalog as you were previously.

    Rundll32.exe Using High CPU on Windows 8.1
    I use a Lenovo T440s laptop for my service calls and when I need to do work remotely. My laptop runs Windows 8.1 Professional. I love this laptop and it has proved to be tough as well as extremely fast. I noticed a couple weeks ago that my battery was going dead after about an hour of usage. I also noticed that my cooling fan in the laptop was running louder than normal. I decided to open Task Manger on my laptop to see what the issue was. I soon noticed that a process called rundll32.exe was using around 25 percent of my CPU. I killed the process and everything returned to normal.
    A few days later, my battery was going dead very rapidly. My cooling fan was on almost constantly and was blowing warm air. I opened Task Manger and sure enough, rundll32.exe was using 25% of my CPU again. I killed the process and everything was fine. It wasn’t long and my laptop was doing the exact same thing as I described before. I decided it was time to get to the bottom of this issue. Here is how I troubleshot what program was using the rundll32.exe and in the process was killing my battery.
    Step One: I downloaded Process Explorer. This is an excellent tool. It is similar to Task Manager but goes into way more depth on the processes and dlls that are running. I extracted the download and then ran Process Explorer as an administrator.
    Step Two: One of the first things I noticed was rundll32.exe was using 23 percent of my CPU again.
    I right-clicked on the rundll32.exe process and selected properties. I clicked on the Image tab and at once saw the culprit. A utility to monitor and gauge my battery usage, called PwrMgrBkGndMonitor, was draining my battery instead of saving it.
    Step Three: After a little digging around in my installed programs I located a program called Lenovo Settings Dependency Package. PwrMgrBkGndMonitor was installed in the Lenovo Settings Dependency Package.
    I didn’t use this program and decided I didn’t need it. I uninstalled the program and restarted my laptop. I haven’t had a problem with the rundll32.exe using up my CPU since I uninstalled Lenovo Settings Dependency Package.
    If you are experiencing the same symptoms has stated above and you are running a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1, this may be your issue. However, before you uninstall the program I would recommend using Process Explorer. Process Explorer will help you determine the exact program that is giving you issues before blindly uninstalling and killing services. I hope my troubleshooting steps can help you find program is making rundll32.exe use high CPU usage. Let me know in the comments if this helped you!

  • This new version of FireFox is making me nutz! It is SUCKING 100% CPU time almost constantly. I could just pull my hair out. I wpdated once a month or so ag

    I tried to add this in the topic already open but it kept sending me through the unending rabbit holes!
    My question is: How do I figure out what release I was on, get rid of this one and got back to a functional firefox that moves in realtime. I already did all the reset and etc.... I just want to go back to the speed I had. This halting , hanging up misery of a browzer is Sad. I have had firefox for years and always recommended it ..... BUT NOT ANY MORE. I agree with the other poster ... there should be a rollback feature. Peoples time has value and right now FireFox is sucking the value down a rabbit hole.

    Hello,
    The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
    Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
    To Reset Firefox do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
    #Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
    #Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
    Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
