Tomorrow is my last day online for the next week.

Thanks.  Actually it's kind of made me stressful this week because there were things I wanted to do and changes I wanted to make, but I'm not going to make any substantial changes and then do a vanishing act for a week.  I just don't like doing that.
2 of my coworkers are then out of town at a conference the day after I get back for a week and then one on vacation for a week so it will be an interesting 3 weeks coming up.
I think I worry more about going to Spiceworld, because they will be able to reach me :)

Going to be completely unplugged for a week starting Saturday night.  I am not looking forward to my e-mail accumulation while I am gone.
If you've never done it, go someplace where there's no internet access for a week.  Where you can't check your phone, even if you wanted to.  Be careful however, you might enjoy it too much. :)

  • BROADBAND here one day, gone for the next 5!! what...

weve been having problem with our broadband for months now. it goes through phases of not working.
randomly prat way though using our wireless internet our router broadband button will flash orange, and will stay like that for days, then randomly like today it will start working again.
at the moment on average its on for 1 day out of  seven.
iv tried putting the cable in the tester port on the wall socket and its the same from that.
last time i phoned bt i was told it was a fault our end, and we needed to get an electrician out to fit a new connection box, but surely if im still not getting signal via the test socket its not my end?
feedback or similar experiences greatly appreciated!!!

i yes sorry we do have a land line, we just dont have actual phone!
iv tried with the cable too yes.
i phoned bt yesterday. firstly i was told my account was in fact closed hence no internet. this was wrong.
the next person i spoke to was very helpfull. after several tests he said he would get an engineer on teh case, would take approx 4 hours and someone would call me back between 2-4pm yesterday. no one ever phoned.
today having taken 50mins to get through to teh right department (even though i phoned the same number every time) it seemed no one wanted to speak to me.
i got told theer was an area problem and thats why it was working. she would not take it from me that the problem had been going on for months. she wouldnt help me, she would not listen to me, i feel so stressed i feel like crying! im paying for a service that i am not getting and no one from bt wants to help me!
    AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
sitting in mac donalds just to get a connection! and oh my its in the same area as me and its internet is working fine!

  • Calendar object for the next week day

    I have a calendar object,
How can I get the calendar object the comes on the next Tuesday or for that matter any week day.
For example I have the calendar object for today ie. Monday, 7th Aug 2006. How can I get the calendar object for the first saturday after today.

What you do is calculate how many days ahead it is.
This would be the target day, less today's day
reduced to modulo 7. Add 7 to guarantee the %
    operator works correctly e.g.
    cal.add(Calendar.DAY_OF_YEAR,(7 + Calendar.SATURDAY -
    cal.get(DAY_OF_WEEK)) % 7);
Requires that the numeric values associated with the days of the week are ordered and one apart. Even thought this is the case, the API does not say this is the case so it should not be assumed.

  • Up data for the next week or just let it go over?

Everyone on my plan except my poor son has unlimited data - he became old enough to have a phone too late.  He is going out of town on a school trip on Thursday and is thisclose to bumping up against his data limit (which happens every month).  Normally I wouldn't do anything, but I do want him to be able to use his phone/data on the trip.  I can't find an easy way to up his data online.  Not being on hold for 30 minutes for customer service is worth something to me as well.  Should I up his data amount or just let him run over a GB?  Are we talking either $10 (to up his data plan) or $15 (to go over his data)?  I'll pay an extra $5 not to have to call them.  And then have to call them back when our new billing cycle starts in a week - LOL.

My son has had a phone for 2+ years now, so he is well versed in using wifi when it is available.  However, we live in a rural area and wifi options are not plentiful.  His biggest drain, I think, is that he won't use his high school's wifi because he says it's crap.  Not sure I believe that, but he understands the consequences (running out of data before the end of our billing cycle) and normally lives with them without complaining.  In this one case, I want him to have data even though he's used his allotment up for the month.  We are on a nationwide plan and our billing month ends on the 6th.
If what mrniceguy says is accurate, my choices are to call them and pay $20 and have to call them back to lower it again, or do nothing and pay $10.  In that case, I choose to do nothing and spend less money. :-)
I have usage controls set for him, so I went in and bumped up his limit usage to close to 3 GB and will go back in May 7 or soon after and put it back to where it is normally.
Our family must be data hogs.  I don't use a lot of data because we have home wifi and I also connect to my employer's wifi; my husband's job does not have wifi so he's a pretty big user; and my daughter, who is in college but lives off campus, routinely uses ~12 GB of data every month.
We will stay on this plan as long as possible, and know that if we want new phones, we will have to pay full price.  We also have all the phones fully insured so that if something happens to one of our phones, we don't have to drop $500+ until we are ready to. I am going to look into moving my son to Straight Talk so that he can have unlimited data too, and if he doesn't see any negative changes, we will all switch.  No reason to pay so much more every month for the same product.
    Thanks for the replies!

Since this is the second computer you've had this problem with, I recommend you look for answers on the iPhone forum. My thinking is it is an iPhone issue rather than a computer issue (unless it is some software incompatibility).

The CDMA iPhone 4 does not use a SIM at all. There is no SIM slot. It is a pure CDMA phone.

  • What was the last firmware version for the Zen Micro before M

I would like to know what was the last firmware version for the Zen Micro before the MTP firmware?
Please make sure you are 00% on this.
    Thankyou.

I think it does, but I'm not sure; since I wanted MTP, I only used .x firmware long enough to save the original Creative test files (with MediaSource, not ZMME) before upgrading to 2.x. And yes, I had to li've with 2..02's shorter battery life until 2.20.05 came out.
May I ask why you want to go back to .x firmware? The only thing that will get you is the ability to use it with Win98SE/2000/Me--but only if you can install Creative drivers on every PC you use it with. MTP requires WinXP SP or 2 and WMP 0, but doesn't need any Creative software at all to work. (Microsoft has made an MTP driver for Win98SE/2000/Me, but it requires customization and may not be supported by other software. I'm tinkering a bit with the customization part right now.)
There are other pitfalls in changing Micro firmware families, in either direction--you'll lose all the files on your Micro, you'll have to install a different ZMME (and I've heard non-MTP ZMME isn't quite as full-featured as MTP ZMME), and you'll need a new plug-in for MediaSource to work.

  • Hi guys, I recently got a new MacBook Pro with a USB Superdrive. A disc won't eject, does anyone know of a way to eject it? I'm in Morocco for the next 10 days so going to an Apple store is not possible. Any help would be gratefully received, thanks

Hi guys, I recently got a new MacBook Pro with a USB Superdrive. A disc won't eject, does anyone know of a way to eject it? I'm in Morocco for the next 10 days so going to an Apple store is not possible. Any help would be gratefully received, thanks

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

    Hi Chris,
thanks for your tip. I didn't get around to trying it, as I have just solved the problem:
Unless I misunderstand how things are supposed to work, I think I also might have found a bug (or at a minimum an usability issue):
When I talked about having relaxed all the local storage settings in my original post, I meant that in the System Preferences / Flash Player / Storage pane I had set "Allow sites to save information on this computer". I also had done some experimention around the "Ask me" and "Settings by Site" options - all without success. I had navigated to that pane by right-clicking on "Global Settings" from the non-working video players.
However, just now I discovered the following: When I navigate to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.htm l (the embedded Global Storage Settings Panel) I found that in fact "Allow third-party Flash content to store date on your computer" was disabled all along!
So effectively, the System Preferences Pane and the Global Settings Manager were not in sync / had conflicting settings and it looks like the Global Settings Manager took precedence. When I enabled local storage in the Global settings manager, things started working immediately.
This is extremely easily reproducable by the way: Just change some settings in the Global Settings Manager and then right click "Global Settings" within it and the Preference Pane coming up will be in conflict with the settings manager.
(Even if this is somehow by design, its quite confusing)
Hope this helps future readers with the same issue. Also, this is an issue in 11.3 Beta 2, so maybe your teams can still fix this for 11.3
    Thanks,
    Jens

Click to enlarge Thanks to my browser and the reply button, your full question was
"I want to get the free trial. However, do I have to pay for the next month?"
I'm pleased to inform you that the answer is no. You are under absolutely NO obligation to continue your subscription if you don't unconditionally want to. (Really, though, why would you cancel your subscription with the lowest rates in online telephony?)
After 27 days, your subscription automatically renews. Cancel within the 27 days and you won't be charged for the full amount of the subscription on a month-to-month basis. For your reference: A month-to-month Unlimited World subscription is US$13.99 and can get as low as US$11.89/mo. when you prepay for one year (a 15% off discount.) Prices mentioned are pre-tax amounts where applicable. To learn how to cancel your subscription, which takes no more than a few minutes of your time, check out this support article. (You have my promise that this isn't rocket science!) Thanks for trying out one of Skype's most valuable subscriptions and I hope you enjoy Skype as a whole! • Repeating Events for the Fifth Week of the Month

    Hello,
I am attempting to create a calendar schedule to distribute to members of my club. Each member is responsible for a certain day of the month (eg, every first monday).
iCal gives me the option to select every First, Second, Third, Fourth, or Last weekday of the month for repeating events. Did Apple forget that some months have five weeks in them, or am I really going to have to schedule events for the fifth week manually?
    Thanks,
    -Noel
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Noel,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
iCal does not have this feature.
I tried playing around by scripting the addition of events with the correct rfc2445 recurrence string, but in iCal the events were placed in the first week of the following month on months with four weeks.
If you want this feature in the future, ask Apple for it.
    Best wishes
    John M
