New iphone and using it with a MacbookPro. Tried to setup with my Gmail account but I get a message back saying I need to configure my POP in Google. What is that?
Also tried sending a couple pictures from my gmail account from the iphone. Message arrived but no pics...ideas.
And what about the MMS service via either AT&T or Verizon. Used the iphone to send a pic to my work Verizon Blackberry.....never received?

I got the same thing when I configured mine for gmail. You have to put your iphone aside, get on the web and log into your gmail account and change your settings:
Up next to your email address in the upper right corner you'll see a "Settings" link. Click that. You'll get a yellowish page where all of your settings can be edited. Select the "Forwarding and POP3/IMAP" tab. Make sure "Enable POP3" is enabled. I did it for all mail.
As for the attachments...that should be handled with POP3. You can also use IMAP, but I'm not sure if the phone will allow it.

I am very excited. Tomorrow is the day I will be getting my first Mac ever. I am finally going to take the plunge. So far, the things I know I need on this new Mac are anti-glare and 2.8ghz. I just can't decide whether it is worth the extra $200 to upgrade to the 17" screen. Express card would be nice, but then that ALSO requires more money to spend (Express Card for a SD card reader, and possible ESATA or additional Firewire ports).
My uses? I will be using this computer for college and for recording music. Down the road I will be investing in Apple Logic, a Glyph drive, and an Apogee Duet for sure. Maybe more gear too, but for now, those WILL be my primary uses.
What do you all think? Any 15" users have any horror stories to share? Regrets? How about you 17" users? Should I get a Speck Hard Shell to protect the outside of the Mac? Any recommendations would be very, very appreciated! I have done so much research for the past 5 months and I'm so excited. Hope to hear some responses, people!
-BudWell maybe you've already gotten your new mac by the time you read this, but I'm just going to add my 2 cents about the 15". I'm a graphic designer and I use TWO large monitors at work, and having said that, I've had no trouble managing a smaller screen and getting work done on the 15". I don't even really notice too much difference - maybe it's that I'm so much closer to the screen on my MBP.
The big issue for me is portability because I take my MBP everywhere - and a 15" is a lot easier to lug around than a 17". I love mine - NO regrets.
The only thing is, I have the previous version of the unibody, which has the expresscard.... and I love the expresscard and use it all the time. I have a card reader and others which give me extra firewire and usb ports. I use all of them.
It would be a hard choice if I was buying the newest unibody in the 15" because of the missing expresscard slot. Too bad they dropped it. -

sorry for my english!Hey, I have had my intunes soley shut down my computer numerous times, for the past month or so. I realize now it is only within my itunes, but it may not only be itunes. My desktop and a lot of cashed info have been cleared now, as a result of a ton of restarts by completely shutting the power most likely.
I have been too lazy to back up my music because it messes stuff up, and goes so slow it crashes. it will probably work better if I dont even touch itunes and just transfer small parts of my library at a time, not all 120+ gb!
I think a my computer is
a fried
b my files are terribly corrupted
c or my itunes is compromised
either way, i will back up my music, but what do you think the chances are my music is the culprate, and by backing it up I will have the same problem in the future?
i've been thinking re-installing itunes would be best

Please help! Two days ago I received a message stating that a new update was available for my new 5s and IPad Air. I attempted to do the update and wasn't allowed to. Since then I am not able to access the internet on either device. It has been 2 days. These are very expensive paper weights that are only 2 weeks old!
Thank you for your response. Like you it doesn't make sense to me either, however I finally got a response back from AT&T. There are two towers down in my rural area and they should be backup tomorrow between 2-3pm. The update 'mess' is just a coincidence? We'll see,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I just update to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s. The calendars on my iPhone are not keeping the information on the days that should be marked. The info is there in my iCloud on my computer, just not on my phone. Has anyone else had the same problem and what can I do about it? Is it at bug in the iOS 7 update?
What do you mean by "on the days that should be marked"? Are you calendar events displayed on the wrong days?

itunes says that the version of software on my ipod touch 3rd gen is up to date, but IOS 5 is avaliable. I have checked for software updates for days but it keeps saying that 4.2.1 is the current version. Why cant i get IOS 5?

because you do not have a 3rd generation device. The OS Version says so , otherwise you would be at 4.3.5 minimum and also Itunes is also always correct in determining if you have the latest OS ( if not it fetches the newest from Apple's Servers ) . And because a 2nd generation iPod stops at 4.2.1 you can't get the newest OS, because your device is old. Buy a new iPod , they have iOS5 preinstalled. -

this will not work. Numbers does not provide a timestamp. you can, however, enter the formula "=now()" in any cell, then copy that same cell, then paste (using the command "Edit > Paste Formula Results"
If you need a time stamp often,
make a single cell table with the formula (mentioned earlier).

I like to start my morning by reading my emails that came in during the night. This jumpstarts my brain and gives me an edge on the events of the day. Since my wife is still asleep when I get up I do this in the bathroom while I'm getting ready. I keep my iPhone 4 encased in an Otter Box case. Will this protect the phone from steam damage or should I thow it in a drawer while I take a short shower?

You should be asking this to Otterbox but I'm guessing it depends on the specific Otterbox case... check the case specs at Otterbox.
IMO, I would just leave it outside the bathroom... I'm sure your email can wait a few extra minutes. -
I have set my iphone5 time settings to automatic at New York time. Throughout the day the date and time on the phone keeps changing on its own and often by a few hours. Sometimes it goes to the correct time. Sometimes it is way out. Is there something wrong with my settings?
This is a known issue with the iPhone 5. Turn off the automatic time setting for the time being. It will most likely be corrected in an upcoming update to iOS if the tech press is to be believed.

I keep getting a message pop up the first time I open Photoshop CC for the day, "we sorry, we can't connect to adobe server at this time...I followed instructions to turn off my antivirus and firewall, then open it. But the problem still remains. What can be done?

I can't download apps or music on my iphone4s. The loading blue circle keeps turning and it won't let me enter my password. Any suggestions? Was working fine one day then the next it's not.
Hey, I understand how ****** off you must be at getting bounced around . It most likely has something to do with some port being blocked by your internet service provider or on your router. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 lists ports 80, 443, 3689, 5297, 5298, 5353, 8000-8999, and 42000-42999 as ports that need to be open for you to connect to the itunes store. I would recommed contacting your isp and making sure that they are not blocking anything (in a nice unaccusing way, you never know, it might not be their fault), or if they can help you determine if your router is the cause. Before you do that you could also make an appointent with the genius bar at your apple retail store to make sure you can connect to the itunes store on their network, although if you can connect to wifi through safari, it probably is not related to the wifi hardware of your device.
As last ditch efforts, I would try updating your device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623 (I recommend backing-up your device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 and any itunes purchases http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 just to be sure). If that doesn't work, I would restore it and set it up as a new device through itunes on a computer, that will wipe out any problem software and install the operating system as new, you can then test it to see if the issue was related to any software you had on it.

My online purchase of new 21.5 IMac is scheduled for delivery to apple store for pickup tomorrow . I have purchased Apple one to one care. Do I need to schedule an appointment with apple genius on the day of pick up to bring in my old desk top computer to transfer and set up new IMac?

Do you know why I cannot access the scheduling and rescheduling features of onetoone? This is over several days. Either I am not able to fill in the ID/password boxes from an Apple email appointment reminder, or if I go through Apple onetoone via Safari, I get perpetual spinning after I fill in and click. Help! My calendar appointments show for future events, but disappear once I reach the day of the event. So I can see tomorrow's appointments now, but they will be gone tomorrow. Why is this happening? It's on my iPhone and iPad.
For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
