TomTom app and iphone - navigate to contacts?

I have the latest iPhone 4 / tomtom app and it never works with navigating to addresses in my contacts list? I have emailed tomtom support, and GPS forum and still no answer so thought i'd try here.
Whenever I select a phone address in my 'contacts' it just only reads the first line of the address which is a random street!!
How does TomTom get to read the full address and more importantly the postcode?
At the minute this doesnt work and is useless - i have even tried to re-order and re-name my addresses in the iPhone so that TomTom reads it differently and it still doesn't work?
I have also just re-booted, re-installed this app and its still the same
Is there a specific format that tomtom reads?

I do not think that the problem lies with using Google contacts specifically. I have a problem with inputting destinations via Contacts also and I only input contacts through my Mac's Address Book or on my iPhone 4. (And, historically, my iPod Touch.) Inputting the destination manually or through Google search works fine. Inputting through Contacts only gets as far as the crossroad nearest the destination. It gives a turn direction but that only runs at about 50% accuracy. At any rate, once the turn onto the final street is made it is announced that I have reached my destination. In reality, the app is as far out as I have left to travel on the last road.

Use of TomTom app on iPhone 4s without cellular network

I want to use the TomTom App when the iPhone is in airplane mode (or is there any other way to interfere with the network - without removing the sim).
This because I have a special carphone with dualsim and for correct use the iPhone must be switched off from the network. Then TomTom app states: "bad GPS connection". Is there a way to avoid that? Bluetooth can be switched on in airplane mode, so a mobile GPS receiver could be connected. But will the iPhone put the signal through is the question?

Disabling the carphone is of course an option, but
I've an BMW with an integrated phone en audio system with an adapter for the iPhone as a music carrier. So the music on the iPhone can played on the carsystem and also the TomTom instruction can be heard over the speakers. So, disabling the carphone forces me to get a bluetooth kind of system for the iPhone. That is last resort but possible indeed.
Anyone?

ITunes Remote App and iPhone 5 and PC

I just recently downloaded the Remote app from the App Store and I was trying to pair the Remote app with my PC but my PC doesn't see it at all.
They're both connected to the same Wi-Fi network as well. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

Using .mac with mail.app and iphone...problems with mailbox folders i think

Is it normal in mail.app for my folders to be as follows: Under the heading Mailboxes, I have Inbox folder and Sent folder and trash folder. Then, instead of a junk folder under that, it is below all of that under the heading Chris's Email (obviously my account). Why is this?

Who is your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with your ISP's email account?
Most if not all ISPs used for connecting to the internet now block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the ISP) on Port 25 which is the default port for SMTP servers.
Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only (such as the .Mac SMTP server) on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
These restructions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
First thing to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below the the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't work, you need to contact your ISP. If you are accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet with the Mail.app, in the interim select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.

Apple Watch workouts app and iPhone gps

This weekend, I used my Apple Watch's workout feature for the first time, for Philadelphia's Broad Street Run. This is a 10 mile race. When I started out, I noticed that the Apple Watch was indicating a pace far faster than I was actually moving (I could tell by the mile markers, and my own time). At the conclusion of the race, I stopped the run in the workouts app, and the app shows that I ran 12.32 miles. I checked my phone a few times while running, and did not see the GPS icon in the upper right, so I can only conclude that the workoutapp wasn't using the phone's gps. Has anyone else had this issue?

Check to see if motion calibration and distance are turned on under Location Services, System Services. Also, the watch won't use GPS to tell your distance rather to better hone the algorithms its accelerometer uses to calculate your steps (and imply distance). Hence their claim that you need to train it and it will improve its accuracy.

Question about Address app and iPhone

I have the fully updated Tiger OS, and I want to start putting all of my contacts in the Address application (iLife '06). A few questions:
1) Even thought it's an older OS and older iLife (my ibook refuses to die), will the Address app sync just fine with the iPhone? (I'm getting the one reportedly coming out this summer.)
2) Can I send out blanket e-mails (with images) from the iPhone?
3) Just a general Address application question: Can I assume that even if a new iLife comes out soon, I'll still be able to transfer all my contacts just fine from iLife '06?

The OS X Address Book app is not part of the iLife package. iLife 09 was just released, so I wouldn't expect iLife 10 until next year, which has nothing to do with the Address Book application.
No one knows what the minimum OS X system requirements will be for the next generation iPhone and we won't know until Apple makes an announcement. I think it is doubtful that Tiger will not be supported but we will know for certain when Apple makes an announcement and not until that time.
What do you mean by blanket email?

My phone app freezes and message app crashes. I tried restarting multiple times and the problem persists. Everytime i go to the phone app and press on a contact to call it just freezes up and does nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.

i have mydlink app for the iphone and finally have the notification process working. so now i get an email with .avi movie and when i try to open this on my iphone from email it appears to do something, quick time flashes and then goes back to the email. i never see the movie.
i am not sure how to view the video on the iphone from the email.
i am having a similar problem getting the video to work on my mac, but i know that is a different issue and have a question submitted there.

The iPhone does not natively support movies in AVI format. There are some third-party apps in the iTunes Store that can play some AVI movies, but AVI is just a container format and any given movie may use one of any number of video and audio formats. Search the iTunes Store for AVI and you should turn up some possibilities. Then when you receive an email with an AVI movie attached, tap the attachment and you should get an "open with" dialog and can select that third-party app.
The same will apply to your Mac, by the way. For playing many AVI movies, try the codec bundle for QuickTime from perian.org or try VLC Media Player (both free).

Desktop, laptop and iPhone: Need common contacts, calendars

Once upon a time, I could synch to MobileMe from my desktop MacPro, overwriting everything on MobileMe so that I then had two up to date copies of my calendars and contacts. I would then synch my MacBook Pro with mobileme, overwriting everything on the laptop. I would also connect my iPhone to the desktop, and synch it. The result was two computers and one iPhone that all had the same data for calendars and contacts. It took a bit of time to do, but it worked, and I could rely on it.
Now, the desktop and the iPhone can be kept in synch, and if I add something on either, the other will know about it -- mostly. But the laptop is somehow out of the loop. It has some of the contacts, but not all, and it is not getting updated.
How do I make ONE common contact database, and have 3 calendars (Personal, Work and Family) the same on all three devices? So that if I make a change on one, the other two will automatically be updated.

That's exactly how it should work with iCloud, the same information everywhere.
If one of the calendars isn't syncing correctly, turn off calendar syning on that device, delete all the calendars on that device and then turn calendar syncing back on.
You may want to back up data before you do any of this.

TomTom 730 and iPhone 3GS

Hi and Happy New Year to One & All,
Does anyone know how to set up my iPhone 3GS to work with my TomTom 730 so I can use the Data input from TomTom because at the moment I can't get my live traffic updates whilst on a long run, TomTom keeps telling me "Function Not Supported", only at this present time it's costing me nearly £30.00 a year for nothing, I do hope someone has got the answer for me please.

Just tried everything with this iPhone 3GS to establish a data connection and all to no avail so I'm afraid it's back to O2 in the morning to cancel my contract, then I'll go back to my trusty old Nokia N95 8GB, I had no problem re-establishing a data connection with it, nice phone Apple just not up to the job though.

If I buy an app on the iPhone do I have to also buy the hd version or do I get it free?

If there are separate versions, you must buy both.
Many apps, however, are designed to work on both devices, those are indicated as such in the appstore.
An app designed only for iPhone, will work on the iPad, but with the reduced screen resolution of the iPhone. Provided it doesn't use a functionality only available on iPhone, of course.

Yes, unless noted otherwise in an application's description, in which case it won't work at all. Application redownloads from the iTunes Store are free.
