Too basic to be believed: 1 Windows XP desktop not able to connect to 10g

I have one Windows XP computer (out of MANY in office) that I cannot create a working ODBC DSN for a 10g database on a linux server in our network. I have tried the 10.2.0.1 instant client, the administrator client, and the 11.0.1.7 instant client. In every case, when trying the "test connection" when adding the DSN I fail on the ORA-12541: TNS: no listener. I know the listener is on since I connect to it from about a dozen other computers.
I have confirmed the OCI is installed, the ODBC driver on which I base the DSN is (now) the Oracle 11g Client. There is a tnsnames.ora file in the ORA_HOME/network/admin/ folder. The tnsnames file is the same as on a computer that can connect.
This is SO odd. I cannot figure out where to look next.......

Are you using a Palm device, or just the software?
If using the device, when you do a Hotsync to the PC, all data should transfer to Palm Desktop.
"Contacts" is the newer name for the "Address Book", so I'm not quite sure what you mean by not being able to create one...?

Not able to connect iPlanet Proxy on ADMIN port with windows 2003

I have configured iPlanet 3.6 on Windows 2003 server with admin port as 10000 and Client connection on port 8000.
I m Able to use client port thru 8000 but when i goto particular URL i.e http:\\I.P:10000 it do ask for admin user name aND password.. and after that it show "page cannot be displayed" .. where as if i try on same server to connect to admin panel thru netscape . once it ask the user name password for iPlanet and after that is keeps asking user name password in WINDOWS STYLE.. liek some time it ask for IIS .. i dont know why and overall i am not able to connect to it on admin port ..
pls provide some solution if any one have faced similar problem..

I would strongly advise you to consider 4.0.2 version of proxy, 3.6 is not ofiicially supported on windows 2003, see http://docs.sun.com/source/819-3619-10/relnotes36sp8_win.html#wp19243
Speaking of possible workarounds for your issue with 3.6, I've seen admin console acting weird when it is configured with 5 digit port. Changing it to 4 digits might be worth a shot.

Check out the articles below to troubleshoot issues with connecting to Wi-Fi. Start with creating a new Network Location and then search for a Wi-Fi network and if that does not work, then go through second article to troubleshoot the issue further.

Not able to connect to Oracle EBS from host Windows 7

Hi, I have installed oracle EBS version 12.1.1 (32 bit) on OEL ver 6.3 (32 bit). I have installed Linux on Oracle VM virtualbox ver 4.1.16.
I am having host OS as Windows 7 home on my laptop.
While setting up the Network in Oracle VM virtualbox, I have set "attached to" as 'Host Only Adapter'.
I am able to connect to oracle EBS from the client server(linux) using Firefox browser. Both the services(database, Application) are starting & stopping without any problem.
I have entered following setting in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.
192.168.56.101 linux.server
IP address of Linux OS is 192.168.56.101
Please help in resolving the issue.

I am getting error as "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" on IE ver 9, when accessing from host machine. On Firefox (ver 12), the error is coming as "The connection has timed out. The server at linux.server is taking too long to respond."
The firewall on the server has been disabled already.
I am not able to ping the server IP address or hostname.domainname from client. Following error comes while pinging -

Windows 8.1 not able to load properly

I am pankaj kumar , I am facing a problem with my laptop(HP Pavilion g6) .I am upgrading my windows 7 to 8.1 enterprise that I have downloaded from my MSDN Account . I was using it before 4 month without any problem but aprox. 10 days back my laptop was
faced some virus attack so I formatted my system now I am updating my windows(activated ) by using windows update it install a switchable graphics AMD Radeon HD 7400M with Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 along with some other update and I am trying to Enable NetFx3
OS feature that is not available in windows using windows media(DVD) . after every thing done when I restart my laptop it is not able to restart , I can't able to find by which it if affecting , from 10 days I am getting same problem after booting

Have you tried any method to resolve this problem? According to your description, I doubt this is Graohic driver problem. Please check Event Viewer if it identify this problem.
In addition, please try to uninstall Graphic driver, just let system install its build in compatibility Graphic driver for test.

Windows 7 64bit not able to use Ethernet

I Have searched through the Forum and found many simaler posts, but none about windows 7. I have a Marvell Youkon 88E8058 PCI-E Ethernet card that will not work on windows 7. It works on OSX, but says it does not have internet connection on Windows 7. I feel that this is due to a driver problem. When i put in the OSX install disk that came with my computer, it says that there may be errors on the drivers on the disk. Instead, i put in my snow leopord disk, which installs the drivers and makes everything but this ethernet card work. I downloaded some drivers from the Marvell website for the 88E8053 card, because they do not have them for the 88E8058 card for windows. Any help would be greatly appriciated since as of right now i have to switch over to OSX to do things like this, but then have to use Windows for my new job.

Have you try Microsoft sites since this is a Window 7 driver issue.

Not able to connect SAP through internet with Windows 7 OS

I am trying to use use latest version of SAP GUI 720 with Windows 7 Home Edition.
When I am connecting through Local Area Connection I am able to connet to the sap servers.
But when I am trying to connect through Internet with sap router string it displays error

With same router string I am able to connect to SAP server through internet on Windows XP pro.

Can you try to input the private ip address of the SAP router server instead of the public. Client should be connected in your network.

Once i locked my window m/c and unlock if after 15-20 min which have already open firefox ...i am not able to connect with any site.

Windows 2012 r2 not able to get windows updates from WSUS 2012 r2

One of our windows 2012 R2 server is not getting windows updates from WSUS 2012 R2 but other 2012 R2 are getting updates.
I found on windowsupdate log on the server saying "WARNING: Failed to get Network Cost info from NLM, assuming network is NOT metered, error = 0x80240037"
Not sure what is the issue.

I believe the warning isn't really relevant in this case. Could you post a recent section from the windowsupdate.log from that machine?

32bit windows client PC not able to print from TS server 2008 64bit

I had a HP M1216NFH printer install at branch office. The branch user will need to remote connect to Terminal Server to access the stock program and print the order back to M1216NFH printer. But none of the branch user are able to print remotely.
The Terminal Server is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64bit version, and all the branch users are using 32bit Windows 7 and XP version. The printer redirection is created during remote session, and user is able to select the printer to print, but is nothing come out from the printer.
I had install x86 printer driver, but is still not working. Server is auto using remote desktop easy print driver when printer redirection in remote session.
I did try connect branch user PC to another Terminal Server running on WIndows Server 2003 R2 Standard 32bit version, and tested is no problem to print.
Can anyone guide me what is the step that i was miss out for Windows Server 64bit configuration in order to allow 32bit windows client to print?

I believe the only way to print client side from a web app would be to use the ActiveX print control off of the viewer (disregarding the ugly way of using the browsers print button).

Thank you very much for the direct link to that article. I've been trying to find it since Googling similar questions, all of which suggest going to My Oracle Support to get that article. Unfortunately when I went there I got prompted for contract ids or whatever, so the portal seems completely useless to the general public.
In my case, some machines would install on Windows 7 and some wouldn't because the CertifiedVersions prerequisite check would come back with either 5.1 (incorrect version, but allows installation) or 6.1 (correct version, but aborts installation). How a 5.1 could get returned for the Windows 7 version number is beyond me, but that was the issue.
The fix is that the -ignoreSysPreregs flag doesn't help in the product-specific prerequisites section. You need to specify the -ignorePrereq flag as the article shows instead - however if you run setup -help that flag isn't listed as an option! I do thank you very much for ending my frustration.

Windows 8 PC not able to remote desktop via Remote Web Access

Windows 8.1 PCs cannot initiate a Remote Desktop session to Windows 7 PCs via Remote Web Access running on Windows Server 2012 Essentials. The Windows 8.1 PC can Remote Desktop to the Windows 7 PC by IP using a VPN, and can connect using
the "Remote Desktop to the Computer" option under Devices in the WSE Dashboard.
All PCs and the server have all Windows updates applied. Specificallly, the Windows 7 PC has KB2574819 is installed and the RDP Policy 8.0 has been activated using local group policy. NLA is not active.
Given that direct Remote Desktop connections work OK but not RDP proxy session, it would appear that the problem has to do with the RD Proxy on Windows Server Essentials.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips on how to trace this problem down?

Please check if there is any error in the remote desktop service log both on the Windows 8.1 client and server sides. You can find the log under Applications and Services logs – Microsoft
– Windows – TerminalServices.
