Too many calendars in iCal

I have just gotten an iPhone and am trying to learn to use iCal (instead of the nice easy-to-use Palm software that went with my old phone). I've been syncing through MobileMe (still thinks it's .Mac on my machine), and it seems that every time I sync I wind up with duplicate calendars: that is, more than one of each calendar, both on my iPhone and on my desktop iCal. I started out with just one, called Main, which is all I want. Now I have two called Main on the desktop, and on the iPhone I have All, and then two called Main, one of which appears to have no data in it. On MobileMe I have the same two I have on the desktop, and then two more, both called Main, and both appear to have all data. How do I get this down to one consistent one? (I know there are programs for de-duplicating events in iCal, but I don't see anything for dealing with entire calendars.)

I'm also having the same problem. Anyone with a solution?

    How many Calendars does iCal support?

    Unfortunately I have been made very aware of a limit.. and that limit appears to be 5 !! According to iCal (at least on ALL my Mac's) any more, then the Calendars do not appear.
    However, I do sync my iCal with Google.. google shows ALL Calendars and each calendar in google is configured to be shown in what ever host app will show them. But only 5 out of the 6 will show. i.e. Im pretty sure the problem is with iCA and NOT Google.
    Note: iCal on my Computer MBP is fine... its iCal on my iPhone Im referring to.

         About 100 users in OpenDirectory, but the only thing OD is used for is to provide iCal accounts.  Our iCal clients are split evenly among native iCal client users, Thunderbird/Lightning users, and those who access via http.  One thing that may be worth mentioning is the way we use this calendar: Management has decided that they want one calendar user who gets invited to nearly every **** event that anyone schedules, an "overview" so that everyone can add this user as a read-only delegate, and then they can see what everyone at the company is up to at a glance.  So this has created one gigantic iCal account with perhaps 15 events per-day every-day for the last 3 years - and all 100 users have read access to these events.

    Hi,

    I am unable to understand this behaviour. The number of users still remain the same and the usage is as usual.
    Is there a way I can check what has gone wrong? I could not see any errors also in the alert.log
    Please suggest what can be done.
    Thanks
    Rajeshredo generation is the result of the activity on the system. You've therefore either started doing much more work - which the business users might well be able to let you know about - or you've started doing you existing workload extremely inefficently, which your business users will probably have noticed. I would start in this case, not with logminer, but with the business and the application - ebusiness suite for example keeps pretty good logs of what activity has happened on the system. Id also be interested in what was changed 3 weeks ago, because something was!

  • I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??  Thanks

    I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??
    Also, once I figure out how to replace iCal with Outlook/Mac on iTunes, how do I synch the phone and pad so that the information on those devices over-writes onto Outlook as a backup, rather than having a blank Calendar on Outlook wipe out all of the information on the phone and pad???
    Thanks

    If you haven't tried already, plug your devices into iTunes, and on each device next to the "Summary" tab at the top is another tab called "Info." Click that and scroll down to Contacts, Calendars, etc. There should be a pull down bar under each category for "Sync contacts from..." and you should be able to select from that pull down list Outlook.  Hit Apply at the bottom and see if that does it.

    Read here:

    Changing your Apple ID to your current, working email address will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address.

  • Calendar too many all day events in weekly view

    The headings for events disappear in the iCloud Calendar's "weekly" view when you add too many "all day" events onto 1 day.  It's weird because the event headings show correctly in the monthly view and the day view but just not in the weekly view.  You can tell the events are there in the weekly view but the event headings do not appear.
    The events' headings appear fine when displayed in the "weekly" view in the Calendar.app back on my iMac (desktop).  So, it's just a problem with the weekly view in the Calendar on the iCloud.com.
    Anybody else noticing this?
    Can Apple get it fixed?

    Same problem here; if I EVER find out the solution I will post it here.

  • ICal Server - Too Many Redirects

    I still can't get my ical server to work despite having followed these instructions (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4024).  I actually get the same results - too many redirects.
    Any ideas?

    In my case the redirects were coming from the wireless router. I hit the reset button on the router and 100% of my redirects have been eliminated for more than 2 months now.

  • Cannot create a calendar collection because there are too many already present in

    ...when I attempt to add more than 50 lists in the Reminders app. I had a similar issue in Mavericks. Is this "50" number available to modify in a config file somewhere?
    My plan is to manage GTD-type projects in my Reminders apps (on iOS and OS X), but this limit is keeping me from creating a list for EVERY project I have.

    Woohoo! I set the integer to "500" and I now have over 200 lists added, and syncing, to my Reminders app and related tools.
    Here's exactly what I did after reading the response from Linc Davis:
    Stop the Calendar service
    Create /Library/Server/Calendar and Contacts/Config/caldav-user.plist
    Edit contents of "caldav-user.plist", setting your desired integer value:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
         <dict>
           <key>MaxCollectionsPerHome</key>
           <integer>500</integer>
         </dict>
    </plist>
       4. Start the Calendar service
    Enjoy your many more lists.
    Note that a file created in a place other than ~/ may have permissioning issues. To get around this, I made a copy of /Library/Server/Calendar and Contacts/caldavd-system.plist, then renamed and edited that file with nano in terminal.

  • Purposefully NOT syncing only one calendar in iCal, possibility?

    Does anyone know of a way to purposefully NOT sync only one of my ical calendars across MobileMe, while still syncing the rest?
    I'm using the calendar in question to automatically run an application every hour on my home computer using ical alarms. I have my home computer and work computers synced through mobileme so that my calendars will show up on my work computer. Problems is I do not want the application to be run every hour on my work computer. Unchecking the calendar did not seem to stop the alarms from going off on the work computer. Can anyone think of a way I can keep the calendar at home but not have it sync to mobileme?
    Thanks!

    I bought and have used BusySync with great success http://www.busymac.com/
    My only caveat is that I've had problems recently that are probably due to the fact I've also installed Appigo Sync, and with syncing via MobileMe I may have had too many cooks in the kitchen.
    Good luck!

  • IPhone cannot sync address book, "too many flushes" in console

    Hello, ran into this recently and its driving me nuts. I've restored the phone twice, without restoring a backup, setting it up as a new phone each time.
    It'll sync everything else fine but not this. I have reset the sync history in isync, deleted my address book completely (I have a backup of it) yet iTunes still shows the old groups under the info tab. I've double checked that I am the owner on the permissions page of the mail/ical/itunes/etc.... folders in %users/Library. Repaired permissions. I'm running out of things to check.
    Whenever I try to sync this is the information that can be found in the Console. I've deleted preferences, i'm almost ready to completely blow itunes away and re-import/re-rate my itunes library from scratch!

    I also cannot sync anything from the Info tab, contacts, calendars, can't replace the data either. If I enable iCal syncing it just hangs on the sync and doesn't error out. it'll stay syncing contacts for over 12 hours so far with no change.

    After running sudo chown -R rr152510 SyncServices/ from terminal I received the same errors. So either its not following through the sub-directories and changing the owner, or its something else. Gonna try it from the root user, though sudo should have given me permissions to do anything I wanted.

  • Sync Exchange Mail Account Calendar with iCal

    Is it possible? -With Panther or Tiger? I've seen some third party software, but natively?
    I've "Bind" my Mac to my Active Directory via Directory Access successfully. I'm able to configure my Mail client -to point to my account in Exchange. And I'm able to view my Exchange Distribution List successfully via Mac Address Book.
    My next project is to sync my Exchange Mail Account Calendar with iCal.
    Any suggestions? I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks.

    Can you name the third-party apps? I own Groupcal and I am starting to get fed up by their inability to get a proper working app for Tiger. I am using 2.5 beta now, but there are still too many issues with it. I am searching for an alternative solution, but have not yet been succesful.

  • How many calendars can you share with the same iCloud person?

    OK Apple people, here is my concern:
    I have several calendars in my iCal app.  I can share one (home) with my wife but for some reason, I am not able to add her to another calendar that I wish for her to  view/edit (work).  She does have an iCloud account.  The documentation on the Apple web site for iCloud states:  " You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. Sharing gives you flexibility in managing calendars. For example, you could create a calendar for your child’s sports team and share it privately with just the coaches so they can edit it. You could also share it publicly with all the parents so they can view (but not change) it whenever they want."
    Is there a limit to just how many calendars in the application that one one can send as suggested by the "a"?

    All my family devices are tied to one Apple ID.  We did that b/c we would consolidate our purchases by syncing via 1 Mac in the house.  So any device could purchase an app/music/whatever, then we would plug it into the main Mac and transfer the purchase to that and then plug in other devices and add to them.  Pain the rear!  I think my example of tedious process above is one reason for iCloud.  So, now with iCloud we should be able to purchase from any device and the other devices would have access without wires.   I thought the only way to tie them all together is if they are all under the same AppleID.  That is how iCloud knows they are related, right?  Makes sense to me.   However, on each device, we use their own @me/@mac email account to setup iCloud b/c each email is tied to that family member but under the master Apple ID for our family.  Each email account has their own contacts, emails, etc.  I thought that was the way to setup.  Shouldn’t this work?  Kind of separate but yet tied together via the 1 Apple ID.  Thoughts?

  • Is there a way to create three different physical calendars in ical so that I can get a fiscal view of the calendars?

    Is there a way to create three physically different calendars in iCal so that I can view the calendar and events from a fical point of view?

    iCal just shows the calendars you have created in your account(s).  So if you are using iCloud just log into your iCloud account in a web browser and make as many new calendars as you wish to have.  Then enable those in iCal.
    If you use Google accounts or something else for the calendars, then create them as needed, and enable them in iCal.
    I have several separate calendars all displayed in iCal - a couple linked through my Gmail accounts, and one through my iCloud account.  Each uses a different default item color so they are distinct in iCal.

  • How to remove calendar in ical

    I clicked on a link that added a calendar to my ical which has now synced with my Google calendar and added all the events to it as well.  Unfortunately, I did not realize that this was going to add every single instance (multiple events per day) to all my calendars.
    I'd like to reverse this action but there is not easy way to do this in ical it seems.  I cannot "delete" the calendar because it does not appear in the list of subscribed calendars in ical.
    I subscribed to two calendars this way and I'd like to remove them both.  I also have to now deal with how to remove hundreds of entries in my Google calendar....and it seems there is no batch delete there either unless I pay for a third party program....arrrgh
    If anyone can shed some light on this I'd be most grateful.

    Thanks for your reply.  I "subscribed" to a couple of motorsports calendars in iCal by visiting a direct link on the Apple website like this one: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/2011motogpworldchampionshipcalen darprovisional_gpticketltd.html
    This adds the events contained in this calendar directly to iCal and I can't for the life of me find a way to "unsubscribe" or eliminate these entries short of erasing them manually one by one.  Unfortunately, there are many of them.
    If you know how I may go about doing this in an efficient manner, please let me know!
