Too many items in submenu! help!

I need to put nearly 20 items in the submenu, it is too long.
When I change the width, so that 3 submenu items can be in one row, it works, but I have to change all the submenu width.
Then I try to have 2 menu bar with 2 sets of spryasset, it don't work either....
Would you please help?

You should be able to fix that by rebuilding the LaunchServices database.

Raport is extremely small when too many items in multivalue filter selected.

I have a problem with report built in SSRS and deployed with Dashboard Designer to Sharepoint. There are few filters connected to report, 2 of them are multivalue. Regardless of data returned, when I select too many items in filter, the report is getting
super small. It doesn't matter what you select, size changes when you select exact number of items or more. I replaced report with single line (filters where still conected) - result was the same.

Size of the raport in Dashboard Designer is set to "Percentage of dashboard page", when I selected autosize, result was the same. I don't understand the behaviour of this report, do you know what is going on?

Yes, I deleted table and all other items from it, put line from toolbox and uploaded (filters were still connected to the dataset). The result was the same.

There may be many reasons for this problem. For instance, you may have an internet connection issues or Apple servers may be having problems. However you may also be victim of a known bug. To resolve this bug, simply tap Settings>General>Date and Time. Set the date ahead to some time in the future. Then try to connect iTunes or App Store again.

Workflow queue - too many items

We are experiencing serious issue with too many documents in user's workflow queue. Namely, when number of documents in queue exceeds 100 (or so), rendering of "My workflow" page takes too long (10-20 seconds). Furthermore, when user approves some document from the list, page is reloaded, again very slow, which makes things very frustrating...
My questions are:
1. Does anyone have the similar problem ?
2. If yes, how to determine if problem lies in time needed to read HDA file, or in time needed to show HTML page.
3. Finally, is there any way to create pagination or whatever, ie. to make list more readable and faster ?

Menu is slow - too many items?

I have made a DVD in studio Pro using Layered menu with a PSD file.
I have a BG layer, and then 12 items with 3 layers each (one for normal, one for selected, one for activated).
When I arrow from item to item on the DVD, the changes are slow.
Is this because I have so many items on one menu?
Do I need to build my graphics in a different way?
Is there a better way to do this?

Unfortunately thats the way layered menus are supposed to work. Each button state is actually contained on a separate portion of the disc - unlike menus with just an overlay. Every time a user wants to switch button to button, the player must refocus to another PG in the menu domain.
They also have issues on computers where mouse users often toggle over buttons at a faster rate than just a remote - often crashing discs or getting undesirable functionality. Best advice - NEVER USE LAYERED MENUS!!!

How to clear off the desktop too many items

On my MacBook Pro Retina is there a fast way to save all the items,ie. remove them from the desktop and save them in a swift way arrange does not work. It looks like my real desk!

Yes. Select as many items as you want, then select "New Folder with Selection..." from the File menu.
You can also control-click (or two finger tap, or right - click) to bring up a contextual menu. That choice will be the first one shown.

Texts keep getting returned--too many digits error, pls help

Hi, everyone!
I upgraded to 4.3.3, yesterday so far no problems, except this morning my phone started to send me an error message every time I send a text and says "this message could not be sent, you've entered too many digits." How do I fix this? And the number it shows is an 11-digit number because it adds the 1...
Does anyone know what I can do?

Error executeQueryForObject returned too many results
Typical Error msg:
“SqlMapClient operation; uncategorized SQLException for SQL []; SQL state [null]; error code [0]; Error: executeQueryForObject returned too many results.; nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: Error: executeQueryForObject returned too many results”
The error is caused for using queryForObject (for a single result) instead of queryForList (when expecting multiple results).
Example of correct solution
In DAO:

Time Machine preparing WAY too many items

I just noticed that my Time Machine backups are taking an unusually long time. So when the last one finished, I immediately ran a second backup with Time Machine preferences open so I could watch the progress bar. It said it was “Preparing (about) 3,200 Items...” for a total of 660 KB. The backup took about 6 or 7 minutes. This now happens every time TM does a backup.
Obviously this is very wrong given that only a few seconds had passed between backups and nothing had changed. There should have been a handful of items to prepare, and the backup should have taken a few seconds. I installed TimeTracker, and it showed a few dozen items had been backed up. I made sure to open every folder/subfolder but found nothing that would account for 3,200 items.
Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

At times both before and after this rebuild when I've been playing around with TM preferences (selecting the drive, setting which folders to exclude) my CPU will run very high (can't recall the % exactly) and my fans will kick into high gear. Ah, yes, very suspicious. I don't recall seeing this before.
Perhaps the preference file (where all that is kept) is damaged. Try a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If that doesn't help:
Are you running any 3rd-party disk/directory monitoring apps, such as the Directory Protection feature of Tech Tools?
Does that happen with other pages in System Preferences?
Does it happen in a different user account (if you don't have one, create one via System Prefs > Accounts). You'll have to unlock the panel to make changes from a non-Admin account.
If none of that provides any light, a clue may be lurking in your logs. See the tan box in OSX Log Files to locate your system.log, then the blue box to decipher it. Use the technique in the Monitoring the log ... section to see if any messages appear while you're using the TM Prefs window. If they do, copy and post them (or, if there are a lot of them, a reasonable portion) here.

Too many items in "Open With..." menu

Gentlemen,
I have encountered the following problem. When i right-click on a file (of any kind) and choose the "Open With..." option, the list of available programs that is shown is just enormous, and filled with repeated program names, like this -

TextEdit
TextEdit
TextEdit
...and many, many more. It often doesn't even fit the screen, so sometimes I have to scroll this list to find the application I need. How can I shorten this list to make every application appear in it only once? I'd appreciate help of any kind; this is by way the only thing that does annoy me here in Mac OS.

Too many real instruments; Need help bouncing tracks

Hello, I've been using GarageBand to record a demo for my band. Unfortunately, I've hit my peak number of real instrument tracks. I have a lot of tracks that are the same (well, not EXACTLY the same, but the same musical part), where one is panned left and the other is panned right. Is there a way I can take tracks like these and bounce them down to one stereo track without losing quality or the panning of the tracks? Thanks a ton.

I use an external FireWire drive which I move between machines and rooms, thus I plug in to the iBook and record, unplug and plug into the iMac and mix.
You could copy the files (they'll be huge) over ethernet, or airport (You could get a cheap hub or router for hooking the machines up. In fact, CompUSA has a 4 port (and wireless) router on sale this week for $4.99 <sic> after rebate), or perhaps burn them to CD-RW/DVD-RW.

I'm not sure. I think the max I have done so far was 36 (that got pared down to 34). I guess some day I'm going to have to try this myself, see how far I can actually get. I remember doing a simple none Real World test months ago (I'm sure the post is gone by now <sigh>) in which I simply compared my iBook's internal drive an an external drive.
Unfortunately in trying to make the test doable in a reasonable amount of time I only recorded 1 minute tracks, and I'm sure that's a factor, but I seem to recall getting more than 40 with GB(1) and the external drive.

Too many id's need help setting up family sharing

We currently have one apple id (tjc) that is associated with the apple store and one that is associated with itunes (m7). The itunes one (m7) does not have an icloud account attached to it, used only for purchases from itunes store. Husband uses the apple store id (tjc) and I have my own (jj). Can I set up family sharing with the itunes id (m7) as the purchaser? Or how do I keep all my itunes purchases if we make husbands/apple store id (tjc) the primary?
Currently running OS X yosemite and ios 8 on an imac, iphones, and ipads.

Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to havde all purchases from one Apple ID available in Family sharing. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

Too many items in dock

I accidentally moved an entire i-tunes library onto my dock. Now it contains over 1000+ files. How can I remove these. It's possible to remove them one at a time BUT this will take forever.

Look at the following:

The error code the caller executing this code receive is -01403. A unique error number that has a known and specific meaning.
In addition, the error stack tells the caller that this unique error occurred on line 2 in the source code.
The caller knows EXACTLY what the error is and where it occurred.

In this case the caller gets the error code -20000. It is meaningless as the same error code will be use for ALL errors (when OTHERS). So the caller will never know what the actual real error is.
For the caller to try and figure that out, it will need to parse and process the error message text to look for the real error code. A very silly thing to do.
In addition, the error stack says that the error was caused by line 4 in the code called.. except that this is the line that raised the meaningless generic error and not the actual line causing the error.
There are 3 basic reasons for writing an exception handler:
- the exception is not an error
- the exception is a system exception (e.g. no data found) and needs to be turned into meaningful application exceptions (e.g. invoice not found, customer not found, zip code not found, etc)
- the exception handler is used as a try..finally resource protection block (which means it re-raises the exception)
If your exception handler cannot tick one of these three reasons for existing, you need to ask yourself why you are writing that handler.
