Too many remotes

Hi Folks,
I have just set up my new Apple TV and this works well... BUT, the new ATV remote also works the iMac at the same time, sending the iMac into a frenzy of volume changes, suddenly launching iTunes and Front Row etc, everytime I point the remote at the Apple TV.
Now, I see that I can pair the ATV to only accept input from the new remote, but is there also a way to pair the iMac with it's own (old white) remote, so that it will only accept input from that one, and not the new ATV remote anymore ?
Cheers,
David.

go to security & privacy in settings and pair the remote you want to use with the imac
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1619
you can do the same thing on your appletv if you want it only to respond to 1 remote

After Loading Lion I now get 5 windows w/ a graphic of a Red Stop sign with an ! mark and the following text message:

71 - Too many levels of remote in path."
I have uninstalled DAVE and used Clean App to remove trace elements of program, however I still get the message and am unable to eliminate the error messages. When I click OK the message goes away briefly and then comes back up.
Any solutions would be great.

Dave,
Thanks....What I did was load the free eval version of Dave 9.0 and then used the uninstaller which must have deleted the kernel giving me the problem.
Thanks for the response.

Hi,
I have a customer running a provider hosted app and in Sharepoint 2013. Things have been working fine but recently they keep experiencing an issue where the all the app parts on the page show the following error message. Does anyone have an idea what
could be causing this problem and how I can fix it? The Sharepoint site and provider hosted app site are running on a Server 2008 R2 box with IIS 7.5.

Hi GuYumming,
I have checked the Sharepoint site using Fiddler and my X-SharePointHealthScore stays consistently on 1, I have even refreshed the site and had the "(429) Too Many Requests" error happen right in front of me whilst Fiddler is running and when I look at the
200 response for the Sharepoint site it is still showing "X-SharePointHealthScore: 1".
I assume because of this I do not need to make any of the changes suggested in your article above?
I have also been through the ULS logs and found the following 3 log entries that appear to relate to the issue but they do not really mean much to me so I am hoping that you can help:

• HT1212 My iPad is disabled because of too many password incorrect answers. I tryed connecting to iTunes but it still said Enter Password On iPad, and it said only Try Again, Cancel and Find an answer to this problem, or something simular to that. What do

My ipad is disabled because of too many itemps and I tryed connecting to iTunes but it said nothing on the Apple Support page said it would. What do I do???

The answer is in the article. Finish reading the second part:
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

• Too many distributed transactions

I am programming an application with JDeveloper 10g and ADF Framework. It is a application that only queries data (no modifications). I created ViewObjects based on sql queries and an application module.

As it is a query only program, i do not need transactions. How can fix this?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
this is information from metalink:
The ORA-2042 indicates that you should increase the parameter
distributed_transactions.
The ORA-2063 indicates that this must be done at the remote
database.
Explanation
If the distributed transaction table is full on either side of
the database link you get the error ORA-2042:
ORA-02042: "too many distributed transactions"
Cause: the distributed transaction table is full,
because too many distributed transactions are active.
Action: increase the INIT.ORA "distributed_transactions" or
run fewer transactions.
If you are sure you don't have too many concurrent
distributed transactions, this indicates an internal
error and support should be notified.
Instance shutdown/restart would be a workaround.
When the error is generated at the remote database it is
accompanied with an ORA-2063. In this case the parameter
distributed_transactions must be increased at the remote
database.
If there is no ORA-2063 the parameter distributed_transactions
must be increased at the local database.

• ORA-02020 too many database links

Hello,
I'm getting the ORA-02020 too many database links error in my Apex application. This error occurs when I run an interactive report in a page. There are 21 pages and 7 database links in the application. Each page has one interactive report that references one database link in the region source.
The database links are referenced in each page as follows: database link1 (page 1); database link2 (pages 2 and 3); database link3 (pages 4-7), database link4 (pages 8-15); database link5 (pages 16-18); database link6 (pages 19); and database link7 (pages 20-21). Each database link is referenced to separate schemas in one remote Oracle database.
I tried to eliminate the error by setting the open_links and open_links_per_instance parameters in the init.ora file of the remote and XE databases to 100 then restarted the both databases. This solution did not work. I created separate Application Processes from the Shared Components to close each database link by implementing the following:
Click on Shared Components> Logic > Application Processes > Create >
Name: CLOSE_LINK1
Sequence: 1
Point: On Load: Before Header (page template header)
Type: PL/SQL Anonymous Block
Process Text: execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
Error Message: Database Link Error
When I run the application now, the ORA-02081: database link is not open error appears.
Please help anyone! I know someone has experienced these same errors.
Thanks,
Ms. H

Joel,
Thank you for your quick response. For clarification purposes, could you provide samples for 1) issuing the CLOSE DATABASE LINK and catching the exception; and 2) querying from V$DBLINK prior to issuing the CLOSE DATABASE LINK from the Shared Components > Logic > Application Processes?
Lets assume the following query with a database link in the region source is referenced for Page 1.
Page 1 - Employee Listing
Region Source:
select ename, job, hiredate
from scott.emp@link1
Lets assume the following Application Processes from the Shared Components is referenced to close the database link:
Click on Shared Components> Logic > Application Processes > Create >
Name: CLOSE_LINK1
Sequence: 1
Point: On Load: Before Header (page template header)
Type: PL/SQL Anonymous Block
Process Text: execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
Error Message: Database Link Error
My thoughts are to do the following:
1. Log in SQL*Plus as SYS
SQL> grant select to v_$dblink to scott;
2. In Apex, goto Shared Components> Logic > Application Processes and add the following queries in the Process Text:
Name: CLOSE_LINK1
Sequence: 1
Process Text:
select db_link from v$dblink;
execute immediate 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK LINK1';
3. Catch the exception???

• Sending to local user gives too many hops

I have set up Mavericks server for mail. Works perfectly for incoming and outgoing mail to other domains but fails when trying to send mail to a local user. Here are my settings:
example.com is my primary domain, it provides DNS and Mail service
there are other domains being hosted (web) with example.com providing mail service for them.
Mail Server setting under "Provide Mails for...": Domain Name is example.com, Virtual domains: myotherdomain.com, example.com (included in list, is this correct?), and some more
DNS settings: each domain has a machine record for the domain name (e.g. example.com has an A record, myotherdomain.com has its own A record), each domain has an MX pointing to example.com. Domain example.com has an alias (CNAME) record mail.example.com pointing to example.com. This is the only place where the name mail.example.com appears in the whole server.
Last night I tried to reply to a mail I received from a user on myotherdomain.com. My receiving account is also on myotherdomain.com (myotherdomain.com is one of my domains with MX pointing to example.com). When I simply hit reply the mail server eventually reported back that the mail was not delivered due to too many hops.
Here are the headers from the mail I received. I simply hit reply and got the too many hops. WHY?

Invoke the following diagnostic by launching Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and see if there are any network or DNS issues reported:
sudo changeip -checkhostname
Also post the internal and external DNS translations of the following:
dig +short miniserver.example.com
dig +short mail.example.com
dig +short MX myotherdomain.com
dig +short MX example.com
dig +short @8.8.8.8 miniserver.example.com
dig +short @8.8.8.8 mail.example.com
dig +short MX @8.8.8.8 myotherdomain.com
dig +short MX @8.8.8.8 example.com
I'd look for a bogus or missing MX record for myotherdomain.com, to start with.
FWIW, myotherdomain.com is a real and registered domain. Probably not yours, I'm guessing. The example.net and example.org domains are also available for obfuscation, in addition to the example.com domain.

• Too many database connections and configurator logins ?

Hi,
We're having some performance and/or stability problem with Oracle Waveset 8.1.1. patch 2.
I'm not sure what the problems is yet, but two facts got my attention:
I noticed for too many database connections waiting to be closed on the OS, varying between 600 and 1200 :
TCP: IPv4
Local Address Remote Address Swind Send-Q Rwind Recv-Q State
doesburg.ic.uva.nl.33555 hopewell.ic.uva.nl.1539 49640 0 49640 0 TIME_WAIT
doesburg.ic.uva.nl.33556 hopewell.ic.uva.nl.1539 49640 0 49640 0 TIME_WAIT
doesburg.ic.uva.nl.33557 hopewell.ic.uva.nl.1539 49640 0 49640 0 TIME_WAIT
doesburg.ic.uva.nl.33558 hopewell.ic.uva.nl.1539 49640 0 49640 0 TIME_WAIT
etc.
(doesburg is our Solaris 10 server where the tomcat application server is installed, hopewell is our Oracle 10g database server )
I also noticed numerous Configurator logins in the audit log, about 10 per second:
Audit Event Details
Timestamp 03/15/2011 04:37:05 PM MET
Subject CONFIGURATOR
Action Login
Result Success
Identity System Type User
Object Name CONFIGURATOR
Server DOESBURG.IC.UVA.NL
Sequence Number No Value
Interface BPE
Resource No Value
AccountId No Value
Message No Value
Changes No Value
Organization Membership Top
Event Parameters
Session ID #SESS#15E4CCFDD2645B36:10C191A6:12EB99FCC85:-5A50
Configurator logins on the BPE interface which we don't use?
Has anyone seen something like this before? What could cause it?
Greetings,
Marijke

I'm still struggling with this problem. Our database administrator did add some tracing, and we see these type of queries:
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT task.id, task.type, name, :"SYS_B_0", :"SYS_B_1", summary, :"SYS_B_2", :"SYS_B_3", xmlSize, :"SYS_B_4"
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT object.id, object.type, name FROM object WHERE object.type=:"SYS_B_0"
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM orgchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM rolechange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
SELECT tstamp, id, version, changeType FROM objchange WHERE tstamp > :1 AND type=:2 ORDER BY tstamp
541 seperate logon sessions by waveset in about 2 minutes.
Has anyone seen this? What could cause it?
Greetings,
Marijke

• ICloud mail "Too many connections" error

Anyone ever gotten this error when sending to an @me.com account? This is what it looks like when I send email to myself using it. My gut says it's a Boxcar issue but I haven't used that service in months and I've now disconnected anything from it. This is the error I'm seeing back when sending email to my iCloud account:

I'm also having this issue with two of my accounts (the main ones I use the most!) I get this message:

• ITunes 9/iPod OS 3.1.1 combo has too many issues/bugs

After upgrading to iTunes 9 and Touch to 3.1.1 I am having too many issues:
iPOD TOUCH:
1. Everytime I launch music, it displays "upgrading library" message and takes eons (5 minutes) to show the library
2. Playlists don't work: most playlists show tracks in random order not matching iTunes, and also with total number of tracks different from iTunes. This had rendered most playlist as useless. Wondering when Apple will fix it.
iTUNES:
1. Much hyped arranging of applications through iTunes doesn't work. I took whole lot of time arranging the applications in iTunes virtual desktop, but after syncing I found entire arrangement lost both in iTunes and in Touch. I did it many times, but with the same unwanted result.
Any help?

That's what i used to tell people. but I up(down)graded to version 9 itunes, and version 3.1.1 for the ipod touch and now i can't restore the ipod because itunes can't connect to the software update server. why do i want to restore the ipod touch? mostly because every extra app added refuses to work! nothing launches. even apple's own remote app can't push through this mess the updates have created.
I'm on a mac. 10.5.8 everything used to work just fine before these updates. What hurts even more is that i actually had to pay for the touch 3.1.1 update as well, and now i've got a non-functioning ipod. cheers apple. How about they release an update to reverse the wonderful job this latest version has performed... Or at least a single company communication as to what is wrong, and how to fix it, rather than a dozen different suggestions in forums and non-existent support documentation!
rant now over. please just fix it apple.

• Smq2 - Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attampts

Experts,
I was working on a data initial load from ECC to CRM. But the status remains "Running".
And in smq2 I saw the queue with "SYSFAIL" with info "Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attampts".
But my user's not locked in either CRM or ECC.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot
Shane

Hi Shane,
Whenever there is data transfer between R/3 and CRM it happens via a DIALOG user.
Henceforth, We have to maintain the dialog user in both the CRM and the R/3 systems.
To check whether the user is a dialog user , goto the Tx. SU01 and type in the User maintained in the SM59 Tx for the Data Transfer.
Check the User Type - It has to be Dialog User, else change the user to Dialog User.
Secondly, the User sepcified for the Destination in the CRM system has to exist in R/3 system also and vice-versa.
Henceforth, check the existance of the user in the respective system.
For Example. In Tx :SM59 ,for the R/3 destination QWC505, If the Dialog user specified was TESTER1. Then login to R/3, goto Tx: su01 and check the user exists in R/3.
Thirdly, In Tx:SM59, After sepcifying the LOGON details for the respective destination,Check the following :
1. Click on the REMOTE LOGON Button
2. click on the CONNECTION Test Button.
3. Click on the UNICODE Test Button.
If all the above criteria's are met, Then there should not be any problem WRT to "Password logon no longer possible error in the queues."
i faced the same problem some time back, I was to able to troubleshoot the problem with the above information. Hope You will also be able to fix the probelm.
Best Regards,

• This program is stopping because too many errors have occurred.

I'm putting a game through QA and they found that the Director Projector throws the following error in Windows 7 when the user switches their windows user.
"This program is stopping because too many errors have occurred."
To test, I created an empty director projector that does nothing but repeat frame 1 and it throws the same error. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Has anyone figured out how to fix this problem? It is happening to me in a kiosk that runs 24 hours a day. If I use Log Me In to check on the kiosk remotely, it sometimes throws this error. Log Me In automatically switches to a different user account. After I disconnect from Log Me In session, the error occurs, I suppose when it switches back to the original user.
This is a big problem, any help will be appreciated.
