Too much menu content

I'm trying to burn a Dual Layer DVD and I keep getting the following dialoge:
"The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:
- There seems to be too much motion menu content in your project. Correct this problem before you continue burning this project."
To try and correct this problem, I've scaled down all my loops and menus to be less than a minute long each and well under 15 minutes all toghet and even set all motion menus to be just still images, and yet, I still get this error when I ever I hit the 'burn' button to start burning an iDVD project.

If by that you mean adjusted the clip playing time with the adjustment window in iDVD, that's your problem.
You really need to edit the entire CLIP to shorten them, because the total amout of time of all your clips - even though not displayed in a loop window - counts against the time limit. I edit my clips with QuickTime Pro. If you don't have QT Pro, you wil need to create some short clips in iMovie.

Hi,
I'm stuck!! I have an iMovieHD project that I shared with iDVD (6.03) and chose a theme from the old themes catagory: the old film projector on. I had iDVD auto fill the drop boxes and when I try to burn it, I get a dialog box saying basically that I can't burn until I correct the problem of too much menu motion. I've gone to the edit box and dragged the slider down to 0.00 and I still get the dialog. I've got over 20 gigs available on my drive. Do any of you know how I shorten the menu motion? iDVD help did'nt address this.

Thanks for the reply! Would I have done that by using the autofill button? I didn't use the drop boxes, I just selected the theme. I will add this: When I'm looking in the gant chart mode, or chapter mode(?) all the way at the left I have a blue box with a disc in it that says to drag the content into it, and a red X below. I can't get rid of that box no matter what I do. Could you give me some more help, please, with an emphasis on details?

Too much eLearning content

love the new site, and the amazing content. The only problem I have is that there is almost too much content. If it were possible to apply a filter on content type - such as eClass only - (and possibly on age as well) when perusing eLearning material, and not just listing by topic/product, it would make the efficient use of the site much easier.

Way Too Much "Other" Content on iPod

Friends,
Currently, my iPod contains 2.8 GB of audio, 9.17 GB of "other" leaving me with only 2.9 GB free. Shortly I'll not be able to add content because the device will be full.
I know that I can get rid of it by restoring to factory settings. But how do I prevent it?

Generally, that much "Other" is the result of a corrupted database. You can help prevent it by making sure that you only disconnect your iPod after waiting for the sync to be completely done and by properly dismounting it. However, random things happen. I doubt it's possible to completely prevent it. I've only had it happen two or three times.

Perhaps you can elaborate a bit more. How many menus do you have in the project? In the scenes menus how many motion buttons do you have? How many differen audio files are you using in the menus? Of the files you dropped into motion menus/buttons, how long are those clips? How long are the various audio files you are using? ? ? ? ?? ????? ???????????
I can't see your project so I have no idea what you are already using and if what you have is clearly excessive or not.

Error message in iDVD - too much motion in the menu?

i keep getting this error message:

even if i take off all the motion in the menus (im guessing that's dragging a video into a loadzone) i still cant burn the dvd
any ideas?
how can i still incorporate the videos in the menus tho? (cos i really like that, just looping in the menu)

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The total playing time of any videos or audio in menus must be less than 15 minutes. Check the Info pane for the project and see what the menus are listed at. I believe if you add a 4 minute audio track for a menu and only have 30 seconds being used the entire 4 minutes is used. So if you want to use just a part of a song, copy it to the desktop from iTunes and use Garageband or a 3rd party editor like Amadeus Pro to cut out just that portion you want to use.
If you've removed some of the media from the menus and it still lists as too much, use the Advanced menu to delete encoded assets and try saving as a disk image. If it saves OK you can play the disk image with DVD Player to preview the encoding before burning to disk with Disk Utility (at the slowest speed possible).

You should also always try and have the latest BI content patch installed but I don't think this is the problem. It seems that there
are alot of objects to collect. Under 'grouping' you can select the option 'only necessary objects', please check if you can
use this option to install the objects that you need from content.

How do i get rid of these dumb icons on my menu bar. they are not useful and they take up too much room. why did you do this?

i just upgraded to the new version of firefox. for some inexplicable reason, you've added icons to the left of my personal menu choices in the menu bar. these icons are purely decorative, they take up too much room, and now i can't display as many clickable items in the menu bar. extremely irritating. if you are going to add junk, at least give us the option to not display it. is there a way that i can turn off the display of these useless icons?

It sounds like your phone is stuck at the spinning gear icon on the screen after Erasing all Content and Settings on your device. I would start by resetting the device with this process:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

You should never load a resource file until it is actually needed. Prefetching resource files may seem like a way to save time, but this practice actually slows down your app right away. In addition, if you end up not using the resource, loading it wastes memory for no good purpose.

Report taking too much time in the portal

Hi freiends,
we have developed a report on the ods,and we publish the same on the portal.
the problem is when the users are executing the report at the same time it is taking too much time.because of this the perfoemance is very poor.
is there any way to sort out this issue,like can we send the report to the individual user's mail id
so that they can not log in to the portal
or can we create the same report on the cube.
what could be the main difference if the report made on the cube or ods?

if "-----" then it means it just an overhead. Aggregate can potentially be deleted and "+++++" means Aggregate is potentially very useful.

In usage column,we will come to know how far the aggregate has been used in query.

4. Run your query in RSRT and run the query in the debug mode. Select "Display Aggregates Found" and "Do not use cache" in the debug mode. This will tell you if it hit any aggregates while running. If it does not show any aggregates, you might want to redesign your aggregates for the query.
Also your query performance can depend upon criteria and since you have given selection only on one infoprovider...just check if you are selecting huge amount of data in the report

How do I get rid of the "other" storage space on my macbook air? it takes up too much on my small 64GB macbook air? I must get rid of it as I have now space to put anything on my computer.

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

Karnel task taking too much Real Memory & Battery not lasting long.

I've noticed under my Activity Monitor that Karnel_Task is taking too much "real memory".
Also, I just bought a new battery because the original that came with my computer was dying too fast.
Well, this new one lasts just a little longer. I believe that is something else that is eating up the battery.

Hello,
I've noticed under my Activity Monitor that Karnel_Task is taking too much "real memory".
Also, I just bought a new battery because the original that came with my computer was dying too fast.
Well, this new one lasts just a little longer. I believe that is something else that is eating up the battery.
I have a Macbook Pro 13' early 2011.
4 GB at the Moment.
Running Mountain Lion.
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
