give total no of users connected-Apprx.)?

Dock or palette tool for managing open windows as a project?

I am wondering if a utility is out there where you can make floating palettes or docks which you can add open windows to so that you can easily context switch between a group of open windows from different apps. You could create a project that would open all the documents or windows from different apps and then you have the means to easily switch between just those windows.
Anyone know of such a beast being out there in the wilds of Max OSX software?

Closing HTTP Sessions

Hello
I'm looking for a way to close open HTTP Sessions on the J2EE. I know how to close the session in the WebApplication and I know how to modify the session timeout but that's not what I'm looking for. I need to be able a selected session on the J2EE.
Through telnet I'm able to list the sessions with HTTP_SESSIONS full. Is there a way to close sessions this way?

Hi Christian,
There is no tool or command to close the http sessions on the j2ee engine. If this was allowed you could end up deleting perfectly good user sessions. In case you see a build-up in http sessions i would say this needs to be investigated.

Why can't I get Pro Tools LE to create a session on my new iMac?

Summary
I can't get Pro Tools LE to open a session on my brand new iMac.
Detail
Pro Tools launches but when I go to create a session it seizes up, the beach ball spins and I have to Force Quit and send yet another note to the Apple teacher. It does this without fail. I've tried to rectify this by saving to different locations and different external hard drives. The problem remains the same.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, stripping the computer of anything that says "digidesign," etc... it doesn't work.
I am using the same Pro Tools with the same OS and the same Digidesign hardware on a MacBook Pro without a problem. Go figure.

I know what you're thinking... Snow Leopard is the problem. Right?
But the MacBook Pro has proven that theory wrong. The marriage between SL and LE8 on that notebook works fine.
As for LE on the iMac... At first it was 8.0.1 but now it is 8.0.3.
I upgraded to the supposedly Snow Leopard compatible Pro Tools LE 8.0.3 (pre-release) thinking that just maybe SL and LE8 weren't having as much fun together in the iMac bed as they were in the MacBook Pro. The result was identical -- stuck in Nowheresville.
I've been to the Digidesign discussion boards and the best I've been told so far is that my 3 day old iMac is a dud. On the other hand, away from Digidesign intoxication, some of the pros in the biz around town have said it's probably Pro Tools. Pro Tools they say is, at best, troublesome.
I'm planning on bailing out of Pro Tools altogether eventually and moving to an Apogee Duet with Nuendo 4 as I'm annoyed that I spend more time as an amateur paint-by-numbers technician than actually doing the job I'm paid to do. I'm also unhappy with expensive upgrades, lost paid for plugins due to upgrades and being railroaded into buying Avid gear only as demanded by the software.
But, in the meantime... I'm stuck with it. My own suspicions are that the cause of my troubles is the external hard drive and the FW400>FW800 conversion configuration but I'm not about to blow a few hundred bucks for a new hard drive based on a hunch that may not work. Your thoughts?
Any suggestions other than anything that involves screwdrivers and a cavalier mindset with the just out of the box hardware by a complete novice such as I are most welcome.

I have the same problem.
First I tried PT8LE 8.0 - didn't even start, afterwards i tried 8.0.3pr (1.25GB) - the same result. Now I downloaded the 8.0.3 normal (1.6GB) and it starts, but after I get to open/create new session dialogue box it just gives me the beach ball of death...
When I force quit PT it won't even start again and gets stuck at loading plugins (and there are just the bundeled one, no third party - it's a clean install of the whole machine).
I too have a week old 27" imac i5 with 10.6.2. On my old 24" with 10.6.1 it's runnig smoothly.
My external drives were off during this so I guess it's not a thing of the FireWire ports.
So I guess it's nothing positive or helpful, but You're not alone with this

Http session distributed on different servers?

I have several webapps, running on different servers (I mean hardware servers). Say, several tomcats each runnig a webapp. Say, one of these servers is the main server and others are performing some auxillary web actions. I'd like that a client would authenticate on the main server and then her session will become valid for other non-main servers. What are the standard mechanisms for distributing an http-session? Can I have some ready solution because I do not want to invent it myself..

As i know, Any client can't access a session of other client.
The client of ServerA's session is a first browser.
"A new browser window" is a new client on ServerB.
That mean first browser and second new browser are different clients for weblogic.
So new browser can't access first browser's session on ServerA.
This is not issue of cluster or browser.

What is good tool for analyzing results? I would like to see graphs about Memory usage etc.

Best practice for keeping a mail session open in web application?

We have a webmail like application where users login with their IMAP credentials, then are taken to an authenticated area of the site where they can manage different things about their email account.
Right now the application is opening and closing a mail store connection (via a new javax.mail.Session) for each page load based on the current logged in user credentials. To me this seems like it would be a bad practice to keep opening and closing a connection each page load.
Are there any best practices for this situation? It would be nice to be able to open the connection to the mail server on login, then keep that connection open until the person logs out, session expires, etc.
I can probably put the javax.mail.Session into the HTTP session, but that seems like it would break any clustering functionality of tomcat. This would be fine if the machine the user is on didn't fail, but id assume if they failed over to another the mail session would be gone. Maybe keeping the mail session in the http session, checking for a connection, then first attempting to reconnect with the logged in credentials before giving up would be a possiblity?

If you keep the connection open across pages, you're going to need to deal with
timeouts - from the http session and from the mail server.
If you don't keep the connection open, you're going to need to "resynchronize"
your view of the store/folder with each operation, in case the folder is modified
by another session.
The former is easier in the common cases, especially if you don't care how gracefully
you handle failures. The latter is more difficult in the common cases, but handles
failure better, and in particular handles clustering better. You'll need to measure it to
see if it meets your performance and scalability requirements. You may need to mix
the two approaches to get acceptable performance.

That problem isn't related to Private Browsing specifically, that's how Firefox works with regards to multiple "sessions" with the same server - only one logon is allowed at any time. Try using one of these extensions to be able to run multiple session cookies.

It sounds like you are unable to print from your computer to your printer. I would run through the troubleshooting steps in this article:

I just released a new open-source tool for creating, compiling, debugging, packaging, and deploying extensions:

Installed it and built "Hello, world" extension, now trying to convert my existing extension project for this. Packaging CS5 / CS6 versions alone is priceless.
Maybe a dumb question, but is it possible to switch .json and output name in command line? I have extension with 5 different versions, they have different licenses etc., so it would be great to type

and so on? I'd put it all into one .sh script

Need information on open source testing tools for ADF web applications

Hi experts,
I need to investigate on new feasible open source Java testing tools for testing ADF web applications. I have tried to google a lot but getting confused.
My requirements as as under:
1. The tool must be open source.
2. It should be easy to understand and to work upon by the tester and developers.
Selenium based testing approach is already in place for testing the application but need to search for tools other than Selenium which shall prove suitable for testing ADF applications. Kindly let me know your inputs / suggestions.

Nope---didn't work. I've owned Macs for about 12 years so although I am brain dead on some things, I do have a working knowledge on most things. I only say that to say this--I did try holding down the mouse and choosing empty trash. It asks if I want to permanently delete what's in there. I say yes--and then I get the same identical message again-----'The operation can't be completed because the item "Firefox 8.0.1.dmg" is in use I can then click stop, or continue.' So apparently that complains the same way it does if I click it up on the menu :)))
As for item owned by---that's not an issue and isn't coming up. User is not a problem either as I am the only user on this system. There is only ONE file in my trash at the moment at that is this dmg file. Nothing Mac. Nothing owned by anyone other than Firefox. The problem seems to be that the dmg file and the original 4.0 FF file are working in tandem with each other--even though I have already drug the new 8.0 globe into the Apps folder and it updated the FF app with the new stuff. If I could force the dmg file to go away, I would do so, but at every turn the system is telling me it can't be done because it seems to think that dmg file is in use---even though everything is shut down and/or ejected. Hey--I'm getting ready to head out and won't be back till evening. I'll check back in this evening. Thank you again for your help.

When firefox launched and kept open, automatically opens multiple sessions for ads and pornography which I have never visited. sessions hide in legitimate ones

I use firefox exclusively. I open many sessions simultaneously mostly one site per session in a single tab. At times during the day when I keep firefox open, I will return to a previous site/session and before I am able to see it, I am getting browser 'pop-ups' of ads for TJ MAxx (a site I never visit) and hard-core porno (a site i never visit and not part of my browsing demographic). These are completely random and hide behind legitimate browsing sessions and are not listed in history etc. They are not being removed by adware or Norton and they are driving me nuts not to mention the embarassment of trying to launch a legitimate site and getting disgusting porno in your face while working with colleagues. Please help!

I get the same "Failed to open a session on the device" message with Apple Image Capture as I do with the HP Utility software.
