Tool Palette Single Click Opening Fly-out Problem

I'm using Photoshop CS3. A few months ago I started noticing that when I single click on a tool in the tool palette that if there's a flyout available it opens. (No changes to my system preferences, or mouse were made prior to this starting to happen and I'm on a Mac Pro OS X version 10.4.11).  The behaviour is as if I'm clicking and holding the cursor to open the fly-out, but I'm only single clicking.
If I do a super fast, sort of "tap" click then the behavior is normal and the fly-outs don't open, but it's hard to get the click just right and an annoyance to have to work that way.
I changed my double click speed from fast all the way down to slow but the problem persists.
This doesn't make PS CS unusable, but it brings production down because to use a tool I have to click twice (first click opens the fly-out, and then I have to click again to select the tool I want from the tools available on the fly-out). I don't have this problem in any other Adobe CS3 application, only Photoshop so my mouse doesn't seem to be the problem.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

This problem started again, but this time removing the Photoshop preferences file and/or opening PS while holding down cmd-option-shift to delete and reset preferences doesn't work. I installed Snow Leopard last week, but things were working fine after the install until today. I reinstalled Photoshop CS3 hoping that would do it, but no go. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

  • Single click open - where?

I have a very lame question. I changed a setting that caused SQL Developer 1.5 to no longer open an object (such as a procedure) when I select it in the connections window. I have literally searched for hours but can't find that setting again. Please tell me where to find that setting.

I believe what you're looking for is under
Tools --> Preferences --> Database --> Advanced Parameters: Open Object on Single Click.

  • Single click opens application

all of a sudden when i single click on a file or application it automatically launches that file or application. before i would have to double click. not sure what i did. i have a logitech nano mouse.

I've recently started having the same problem. I've slowed all the settings I can, to no avail. I have the additional problem of pages suddenly going to "minimize" when I touch the title bar. This morning, I noticed the screen flicker followed by a "beep" for no apparent reason. Could it be a hardware problem? My eMac is almost five years old and I've had no problems with it until now.

  • On all my other apps and browsers, I have my system set up to open things with a doubleclick. In Firefox, however, a single click opens things, and it's very annoying since I wind up with duplicate pages -- where can I change this option to double-click?

I think my question explains my issue, but I particularly have this issue on www.pogo.com when I try to open a game room. The system tells me someone else with my user name is trying to enter the room at the same time, so it boots us both out. I have contacted Pogo, and they tell me it's a Firefox issue. There must be an option somewhere, like a OS has, to pick between single and double clicks to open an app, but I can't find it in Firefox. My mouse is set in XP for double-click.

    Hi Roger
    Thank you for your reply.
    My original feed is: http://casa-egypt.com/feed/
However, because I modified the feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/imananddinasbroadcast and nothing changed, I redirected it to another feed and then I deleted this feed.
Is there any way to change the feed in itunes? The only feed I have now is  http://feeds.feedburner.com/CasaEgyptStation
I tried to restore the feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/imananddinasbroadcast but feedburner refused.
I know that I missed things up but I still have hope in working things out.
    Thanks is advance.

  • Single click opens mail?

When I am using Mail and I click on a new mail item one time (intending to view it in the lower half of the panel) it opens in a new window? I do not want it to open the message in a new window unless I double click it. Which is what I would ordinarily expect and is how it works on my other mac book pro. I have not been able to figure out how to correct this. I have looked at the mouse settings (I am not using a mouse so none available) and trackpad settings (none seem to apply) as well as keyboard settings (again, none seem to apply) to no avail. Perhaps the clicker (selection bar? I am not sure what it is called) is broken? Thank you for any assistance you can provide. MACarmel!

Actually it is not working normally.
I should have reworded my response to clarify that I meant "if the trackpad 'clicker' isn't physically or electrically broken in some way ..."
Interestingly, if you have your finger on the trackpad when you click it does not open another instance?
That is interesting, but I don't know how to explain it. Given the right settings, holding two fingers on the trackpad while clicking would cause a "secondary click", but I'm not sure what one finger is supposed to cause.
Do you have any other suggestions, thoughts on the topic?
    Sorry, but no.

  • Dashboard froze. Can't single-click open anymore

My dashboard widgets froze -- open on screen.  I had to close each widget.  Now I now longer have one-click pop up of my selected widgets.  I get a beep when I click the dashboard icon.  I have to click the plus sign and open individual widgets.   What happened?  Can I get my simple dashboard back?

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive

  • Multiply folders - single click open disable ?

when opening multiply folders (folders in folders) as you double click on them fast, after a few clicks (two folders i think) it starts to open folders with one click (not two). can this be disabled ?
can all folders be opened with two clicks only no matter what ?

    You're welcome.
I use the Logitech Control Center software that shipped with the mouse, though I actually downloaded the latest version from the Logitech Web site — vs. using the version that came on the included CD — to be sure I had the latest version.
The version I am using is for PPC. I don't believe they've released a Universal Binary yet for Intel-based Macs: I did not see anything to this effect on their Web site when I checked today. You could contact Logitech about the availability of a Universal Binary. I suspect one may be forthcoming: many vendors have to address the move to Intel-based Macs.
You wrote: "Can you configure the mouse-wheel click to open in a new tab in Safari?"Yes. Any button can be configured for a custom keystroke. Since the keyboard combination to open a new tab in Safari is Command-T (assuming tabbed browsing is enabled), one could configure any button on the mouse to perform Command-T when pressed.
    Good luck!

  • Photoshop CS3 tool palette submenus appearing on single click (isntead of click + hold), how can I disable this?

Sometimes I happen to click on tools instead of using the hotkey, if it feels convenient or whatever.  However, on my work machine I'm having a problem where a single click opens up the submenu for whatever tool I clicked on.  For example, I click on rectangular marquee, and instead of just selecting rectangular marquee as the active tool it also presents me with the little submenu to choose from the alternative marquee tools.  In all the years I have worked with Photoshop, this is the first time I have experienced this--usually I have to click+hold to get the submenu.  Click+hold is the behavior I want out of this feature, but I can't find any setting in the preferences to enable/disable this weird mode?

The timing is directy related to the 'Double-click Speed' setting for your mouse. If it is 'Slow', then you have to hold longer; if it set to 'Fast' then you always get the pull down menu. There currently is no way to change this behavior directly is Ps (ie. pref. toggle to disable).
I have seen people complaining that they need to double click to just select the main tool. In other words, that might be a workaround if you want to keep the mouse double click speed on the fast side (single click gives pull down, double click selects main tool).
I'll enter a feature request to add a preference that toggles click+hold On/Off.
    regards,
    steve

  • Problems with InDesign CC 2014 tool palettes on an extended display

We have a Mac in our group set up with an extended display. With Indesign CC and before, we were able to move our InDesign tool palettes to the extended display, giving us a full view of our work on the main display. Now with the new upgrade to Indesign CC 2014, when using the tool palettes, the commands open on the main workspace display and the palettes will not collapse into each other unless you move them to the main display first. Can anyone offer help?

Ask in the ID forum and provide proper technical information like what Mac, what OSX, what display.

  • My tools palette has disappeared

To say I am a novice at InDesign would be to insult most novices.  But I do put out a decent product knowing just what I need to know and bumbling my way through the rest.
So today I am working and suddenly my tools palette disappears.  I closed the program, waited a bit, and then restarted it.  It is still missing.  I rebooted my maching (Win7).  No tools palette.  I went back to another project hoping I did something on this project that made it disappear and it would show up elsewhere.  Nope.
I though that maybe it was just missing from my screen so I made the screen smaller (seeing lots of pages) hoping it had slid all the way to the left.  Nope.
Nothing I do seems to bring it back.  Of course I first went into Windows and there it was checked.  I unchecked it and shut down.  Started up again and it had remained unchecked.  I checked it and my page shifted a bit to the right but still no tolls palette.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    Kathie

I might just have the solution or part of a solution. My work just upgraded to version CS4. When I opened InDesign, I had the same problem where I could not find the tools palette. I opened a file created in an older version which opened without a glitch. What I discovered is when the window for this file opened it "snapped" into a frame that covered over the palette. I kept checking and unchecking the "tools" under the Window menu to no avail until I resized my current document's window and ta-dah! There is was...
I'm curious, for those using CS4 for the first time, does opening a document hide your tools palette? After I got the palette back, I closed out of the document to check if it will hide the palette again but it didn't. I did re-size the window so it may have "remembered" what size it should be... Anyway, I hope it helps somebody....

  • For some reason, I now have to double-click on my bookmarks on my task bar. How do I change it back to a single click?

In my bookmarks task bar, I used to have to just single click on the bookmark and it would open to that site. Now it seems that I have to double-click to get the bookmark to open. I want it back like it was - single click opens site. Please tell me how to fix this.
    Thank you!

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

  • Where is Tool Palette in Photoshop CS2?

I just installed photoshop cs2. But I cant see any tool palette when I open photoshop for the first time. It has only menus on the top and the working screen is completely blank as if nothing is opened. Even if I open any new image, it is not showing any palette or tools. Please tell me how to open the palette. I want to crop one photo now.

You could try Window>Workspace>Default workspace or Reset Palette Locations.

  • Single clicking tool in tool panel, drop-down opens, supposed to be on hover/doubleclick

Okay, so I reinstalled windows along with photoshop cs5 extended x64, and now, when ever I click on any item in the tool panel, the drop-down menu pops out, and its extremely annoying.
It never used to do this, I had to like either click & hold or double click or something.
I just want to be able to use the tools without having to be bothered by the drop down menu.
That's what happens now after single clicking on any of the tools with the arrow in the lower right corners.
Please help, it is extremely frustrating!
    Thanks,
    Jordan

You're saying the alternate tools selection opens immediately?  I have to click and hold for about 1/2 second for the alternate tools selector to open up.
How is your double click speed set (control panel, mouse)?
Does choosing Window - Tool Presets from the main menu, then using the Panel menu and choosing Reset Tools help?

  • MacBook Pro 2012 hinge problem with single click sound when i open it

when i go to sleep and shut my macbook off and close the screen next morning i open my screen and i hear a single click noise??
im paranoid ita a brand new macbook its not a hard drive fail it just a single click sound when i open it to turn on
and heres a video of the hinge is this is whats causing the single click sound? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEUt2p783nA

I have this problem too with my Mid-2012 MBP non-retina. The screen would click once, after being left for a long time, and would be fine after that, until you close it and re-open it again after a long time. It is especially loud in the morning so I think it is temperature dependent. Happened about 3 months after buying. I took it to Apple. First time they replaced the entire screen. They had to since that is the only way to replace the hinge. When I got it back, the screen still clicks. Took it back to Apple again. Second time they just tightened the screws securing the display with the unibody. When I got it back the second time, the screen still clicks. Took it back to Apple again. The third time they replaced the entire screen AGAIN! When I got it back, the problem was fixed for 2 days, then the screen started clicking again so I'm back to square one. I'm wondering whether I should take it to Apple the forth time, but then again, they've already replaced the screen twice which didn't work so I'm not sure what more they can do. It's either this is normal, which implies the screen hinge is really badly designed or the clicking has nothing to do with the screen at all.
