Tool to generate SAP Developer key (exists)

Dear Experts,
I have incident here from our consultant who got a proper SAP Developer key. After few questions, we found out he got it via a tool which can generate a proper SAP developer key. I have checked in Marketplace SCCR, there was no record for his user ID's.
Anyone ever encountered this incident? I still don't believed people can generate exact SAP Developer key (I registered his ID's from SAP Marketplace and more surprising got the same number). I just curious how this possible.

I am agree with you and raised complain to the consultant. I know there are some way to hack requirement for developer key but my current issue is he got the proper (exact) SAP developer key without generated via Marketplace. How that is possible?
My opinion, only person who got in touch with SAP kernel developer (or hacker of SAP kernel) you know exactly how to generate SAP developer key.
I just curious because this is the first time I got this incident from my 15 years SAP life. hacking ABAP program to avoid developer key are one thing, but generating proper and exact SAP developer key without marketplace is totally differently level of hacker.

I'm new to SAP ERP 2005 and I'm building a test system.
Can someone please tell me how do I generate my SAP Solution Key? Step by step. Is there a docment for this? I can't find one. I've looked at note 811923, but it does not explain in detail and what they use does not correspond to what I see.
I have installed my SAP Solution Manager. After install I have a icon on my desktop. I'm assuming this is the solution manager cause it does not have that name.

It seems you are really new so welcome to SAP world.
MMC is the icon where you can view and perform some administration activities with respect to your instance.
As far as the solution manager key is concerned do one thing go to start->run and type sapgui <ip addresss where you have SOLMAN installed> <instance number of the installation>.
e.g. sapgui 10.50.70.30 00
if the folder structure of SOLMAN installation is DVEBMGS00.
This you need to do from the desktop and also sapgui should be installed over here.
Then login using ddic and give your password. Once there type in /nsmsy and enter. On the field systems right click and create a new system. provide the sid for which you need the key and then the remaining details along with the installation number which the basis group at your location must be aware. if not you can even leave that.
that's all. Now go to menu and click on system landscape other object and then give SID and click on icon generate which has a key symbol over there.
new window appears and over here give the remaining details as to hostname, central instance number and it will give you a number which is the required SOLMAN key you require.
that's all any issues revert back feel free to ask. It's good to see new people using SDN. Good move

SAP License key

Dear All,
We have an issue with system number in our production system.
We have generated SAP license key for production during our SAP implimentations. But after that due to some major problem we have again reinstall SAP system and regenerate SAP License key. Now both the SAP License key has different system number. Old one license key we have deleted from SAP Supprt portal.
How can change the system number in my landscap as per the registered with SAP Support portal.
Can I delete existing license from my SAP System and reinstall latest downloded key ?

Well you should have ordered the new license under the same system.

Yes, that is what you have to do now. If your installation number changed, then you will have to delete the old licenses first. Then you will be able to install the new license.

Surpass Developer Key

Hey Experts,
I was trying to surpass the SAP developer key check.
I have created my username entry in DEVACCESS table along with some random key. But got stuck where the system is checking for thet key on unix system using
CALL 'CHECK_DEVELOPER_KEY' ID 'KEY' FIELD DEVELOPKEY.
Can we edit and maintain our random developer key on 'CHECK_DEVELOPER_KEY' system.

Why are you trying to skip the developer key? if you're a genuine SAP customer it should be very easy to get a key from Marketplace.

Tools for SAP development work management?

Hi fellow SAP developers!
As you know, in a big software company the management of development work can be a challenge. Everyone should be able to see quickly who is doing what, who is available for new work, how did some old requests get solved and where is their documentation. We are talking about more than just some simple ticket management system here. It would be a central repository and work management tool for years to come.
I am interested to hear some suggestions for good tools that can be used for development work management in SAP world.
- It should be a tool where development requests can be input, reviewed, approved, documented and stored.
- It should support storing attachments
- It should support a project structure, under which the development items are created.
- It should be searchable and have different views to the development requests (for example by project, request raiser, developer, status etc.)
- It should have some kind of approval system or workflow.
- It should also support email notifications when the status or person assignment changes.
- It should run on large corporate network (accessible in intranet, perhaps via browser).
- A nice bonus would be a mobile client access for urgent cases
I'm keen to hear any proposals, even if not all the points in the wishlist are fullfilled

Well, a SAP based product would be efficient as it is integrated and there would be no need for additional licenses etc.
I have to investigate the Solution manager offerings more, if that indeed could handle this task. Have you got any further information or experience?
Rally sounds interesting as well! Are there any other tools like that, proven good in SAP development?
For simply using Abap workbench, I'm afraid that is not good enough for what I'm after. How would you manage for example work queues, project based issue views and extensive solution documentation with it? And everything would have to be searchable and visible for also for non-technical managers who do not log in to SAP.

Hi ,
Development key for your user name will be stored in the table
DEVACCESS. Read this table with your user name and get the development key.
If you don´t find your user-id and key for it in this table it means your user-name doesn´t have the development role attached to it. You will have to ask basis team for the development role.

If i remember correct , Installation will ask you for MaxDB user ids , it will give errors latter if you give lengthy user ids ( i think >8 or 9 ) . So try not to give lengty ids also check your host name. Looks like that also too long

List of Developer Keys in the production enviroment

Can anybody tell me how to obtain a correct list of users with developer keys. There are currently two ways of getting a list of users with developer Keys
(1)Generate a list through the SAP support portal.
(2)Obtain a list of names in the DEVACCESS table.
Which is the correct method to use? my understanding was that all developer keys are on the "SAP support portal", and once a user uses their developer key the entry is added to the DEVACCESS table, is this correct?

I do not think that there is one "correct" way on getting this, it depends on your requirement.
If you take it from the SAP support Portal, it will give you the users id's who potentially would have the possibility to do development in your system. But it will not tell you, if they have received it, or if they have access to your system at all.
If you take it from DEVACCESS, these developers have been doing some development in your system - <i>"The Guilty ones "</i>, (or at least has tried to enter a workbench object in create/change mode). But based on this list you can't be sure that new developers won't popup, but again this should be controlled by your security setup / the authorizations granted

Hi Katherine:
The Developer Keys are stored in a transparent table with name DEVACCESS for each developer Name you will find the associated Key entry.
If you would like to revoke the Developer Key for a specific user ID you should remove the entry in that table; keep in mind this needs to be done with database tools since the table has no maintenance view; also be aware this procedure may not be supported officially by SAP.

Abap proxy - developer key

When I log into XI ABAP stack and try to create a ABAP program in SE38, I able to do it with the given developer key.
But if I run SPROXY in XI and try to create a ABAP proxy system says my developer key is invalid.
What am I missing? Do I need to grant any privileges ?

For every sap system for development you need development key and you need enter this only first time for development / user id.
Now As you said you are able to generate ABAP program in XI ABAP stack..because development key was generated for that sap installation number.
Can you check if you have same installation number for your XI ABAP stack and R/3 system where you are generating proxy. ( Remember you are generating proxy's in different sap r/3 system...not in same) You can check your system installation number by system-->status after login into abap stack.
If you have different installation number then you need to generate new developer access key for your user id for r/3 system where you are generating proxys.

Most IDEs like Netbeans and Eclipse can generate entities based on existing database schemas, but imho it's much more usefull to write the first few entities by yourself. It's a bit more difficult, but at least this way you will learn what each annotation does, where they can be placed and what attributes you can set on them.
Once you have a good general foundation you can skip this process by autogenerating these classes. But that's just my opinion.

Btw. there are no entity beans in EJB 3.0. These are plain old java classes, thus they are called simply entities to avoid confusion with the entity beans used in previous ejb versions.

Impact of generating a new key for Secure Store Application

I inherited my development environment from a predecessor, who did not document the secure store pass phrase anywhere. There are a couple of projects doing development on the system that cannot be impacted, but I need to get Project Server running on the

Once you decide to generate a new encryption key, you could follow the steps in Generate an encryption Key part in the link below:

You should back up the database of the Secure Store Service application before generating a new key. Then refresh the encryption key to propagate the key to all the application servers in the farm.
