Toolbar Bookmarks = Broken in FF 4.0

In FF4.0, my Toolbar bookmarks do not do anything when I click on them. And I can not open a new tab by clicking on the "+" for new tabs.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? ''A troubleshooting mode.'' 
You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running.

Why are many of my toolbar bookmarks suddenly missing, & why can't I designate where to put bookmarks now? Star won't accept double-clicks anymore.

All of a sudden yesterday I can no longer click the star twice to tell it where to put the bookmark, and even when I click it once it doesn't save the bookmark anywhere. Also many of my toolbar bookmarks are now suddenly missing. I've tried to restore bookmarks and it says it's unable to perform that function. Help!

Where is the pulldown for additional toolbar bookmarks?

I just upgraded to 5.0.1 and I've lost a function I used all the time - the little pulldown arrow at the right end of the toolbar list that pops up the rest of the toolbar bookmarks. How do I get this back?

i use google toolbar bookmarks feature with firefox version 3.6.18. will this feature work with version 4 or 5.
i tried updating to version 5 and could not get this feature to work.

Firefox 4 isn't supported any longer.
Google needs to update the Google Toolbar program for Firefox 5.0.
The Google Toolbar '''7.1.20110512W''' version does work pretty good in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension. But not every feature works 100%.

Why my yahoo toolbar bookmark want work right?

On every website, my right vertical scroll bar is missing and all of my Toolbar bookmarks unless I minimize the window, click "view" and "full page." How do i get it back to NORMAL?

When I hit "full page" the right vertical scroll bar re-appears, but my bookmark toolbars, my bing bar, and pretty much the entire top 2 inches of my screen disappears. When all of these things are showing, the right vertical scroll bar disappears, and the entire webpage shifts to the right, so I can't see most of the right side of the page. How do I fix this?

Can't find out how to organize my bookmarks. can't do it after updating. Person tried to help, we had long conversations, I sent lots of images, it got to where I think the answer given were not related to the problem. You say you have a lot of duplicate bookmarks, and want to know how to organize bookmarks, but from the pictures shown, I really only see a news subscription, some sample bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar that you don't display on the toolbars so I don't see point in deleting anything there most of it are reports from the database or from a news subscription nothing of much concern, really. I would dump the news subscription if you don't use it.
How do you want to arrange your bookmarks, but you must keep within some boundaries of what was expected of the three major folders.
Bookmarks Menu -- this is your folder categorized bookmarks, originally all bookmarks were in this folder and the bookmarks toolbar was one folder within -- that has changed.
Bookmarks Toolbar -- intended to be visible on the toolbar with main bookmarks and folders spread out horizontally to save one level of drilling down into folders, with very few bookmarks and folders visible on the toolbar but quickly accessed. You can use the bookmarks showing essentially as buttons a few primary bookmarklets. You can have folder structure there so you could actually have thousands of bookmarks there within folders.
Unsorted Bookmarks (no folders within by intent not by restriction) -- new concept to not categorize bookmarks into folders because of bookmark tagging. Delicious.com will show you what they intended where you have lots of people. I think the concept of tagging breaks down with one person. The other reason bookmarks no longer had to be put into folders was the "AwesomeBar" feature of Firefox that is a great feature it will find bookmarks whatever folder they are in -- I hope you are familiar with it. You can throw bookmark separators into any folder but they are especially useful in the unsorted bookmarks folder, especially if you sort the folder. In other words a group probably within a date range.
So how do you see yourself categorizing your bookmarks ?
I'd like to get an idea of '''how many bookmarks '''you have altogether and how big your places.sqlite file is. To find out how many bookmarks you have all together bring up the Bookmarks Library list, place a colon (":") into the search field this will do a find on all of your bookmarks. At the bottom of the library window you will see the total number of bookmarks you may have to nudge the vertical scrollbar down, and as long as no bookmarks are selected you will see an '''item count'''.
Open your profile folder Help > Troubleshooting information... then click on "Open containing folder" then looking in bookmarkbackups folder and report size of last .json file in there -- hope you can see the extension the filenames have dates.
From the library list you can see if you actually do have a lot or any duplicated by eyeballing the list sorted by the location. You don't want to delete anything yet until you know what you want to do and what folders the bookmarks actually in, as you would not want to delete a categorized bookmark for an uncategorized one.
I have 1256 bookmarks, a bookmarks backup file (.json) is 1849 KB.
I have 750 of those bookmarks have a keyword shortcut -- most of my bookmarks may not actually be bookmarks to webpages.
Install the "Show Parent Folder" extension, it would be important for manually categorizing and deleting bookmarks.

The columns in the bookmarks library list that I show are
:Name, Location, Parent Folder, visit date, visit count, Keyword, Description, Last Modified
The important columns for eliminating duplicates are
:Name, Location, Parent Folder, Keyword, Description
:if you have Tags then that column would also be important not to delete the bookmark
Sort on Location look for duplicates, expect you won't find as many as you thought you would, because Firefox makes it difficult to create duplicates if you use the bookmarks star. I wouldn't delete any until you really know what you want to do, if you have duplicate you would not want to delete one a primary location based on parent directory or the one you use with a keyword.
I don't really think you have much to delete in your toolbars list, they are basically examples. Would highly recommend you keep something in the bookmarks toolbar even though you are not displaying it.
The only case of having major duplicates are if you have imported bookmarks at the bottom of your bookmarks menu also named bookmarks menu or something similar. You would see that in the parent folder column -- you cannot sort on the parent folder column.

My bookmarks toolbar no longer shows up. View ⟶ Toolbars ⟶ Bookmarks Toolbar doesn't work. Also View ⟶ Toolbars ⟶ Customize doesn't bring up a dialogue box.

When I start it up it shows two two nested windows on the screen, has a Firefox yellow tab in the corner, does not display the toolbar bookmarks, the back and forth buttons do not work and there is no page refresh. No clue what is going on.

Every time I open up Firefox it appears to open two nested and linked windows, each with their own minimize, maximize and close buttons but the both work the same. The homepage does not come up, the back and forth buttons do not work. Both the refresh button and F5 do not work. The Bookmark Toolbar does not show up until I disable it in View and then re-enable it and this causes the outer nested window to disappear or close.

This issue can be caused by an extension or theme that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Toolbar bookmarks don't create new tab/window although is marked in preferences to do so.

Even though I have the box "Open new windows in a new tab instead" checked, when I click on one of the links in my Bookmarks Toolbar, it doesn't open in a new tab window. I clicked several bookmarks from the toolbar and it happens on all of them.
Also, when I click on different links from different AppleMails, it DOES open a new tab/window.
How can I get the links in my toolbar to recognize the preference chosen to make a new tab/window?

The setting in Tools > Options > Tabs: "New pages should be opened in": "a new tab/window" is for links that specify a target window to open the link. 
That option allows to divert such links to a new tab instead of a new window.
For links that do not specify a target use a middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the link or use the right-click context menu to open the link in a new tab or window.

Bookmark Toolbar bookmarks have icons & take up too much space.

Firefox 4 beta 3 added icons to the Bookmark Toolbar, i.e. folder icons next to folder drop-downs, and mini-icons for links. While they're pretty, they take up too much space. Beta 2 didn't look like this.
How can I get rid of them?

Not on OS X. 
It is probably the first Firefox version that will have icons on the Bookmarks Toolbar if you get them by default. 
In previous Firefox versions you need a special theme or code in userChrome to accomplish that. 
Now you will need code in userChrome.css if you want to suppress those icons.
