Toolbar items I add do not stay on bar after restarting Firefox 4.

Toolbar items I add do not stay on bar after opening firefox 4 again. I need to add them each time I start firefox, even basic ones like Print. Some stay put eg home but mostly they are wiped out on the main bar that contains the Awesome bar and search bar.
Am I missing a plugin or something?

This is caused by a corrupt file, for details on how to fix it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Toolbar+keeps+resetting

    Every tab starts with a sentence (in Dutch, so I don't know the exact phrase in English):
    Another program on your computer wants to adjust FireFox with the following add-on:
    I even unchecked "Compatibility check" and tried the add-on "Compatibility reporter" to overrule the checks.

    Also, please also try deleting the files named '''extensions.*''' in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Firefox Profile Folder] after exiting Firefox. You can also open the profile folder through Firefox '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Troubleshooting Information''' > '''Open Containing Folder''' and exit Firefox. After restarting Firefox may ask you again, if so choose '''Allow''' and '''Continue''' in every tab but click '''Restart''' only in the last tab.
    If the problem persists you can try creating [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=profile&r=0&e=sph&as=s new profile] and later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20your%20information?s=backup&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy] needed files like '''places.sqlite''' which holds the bookmarks and history, '''key3.db''' + '''signons.sqlite''' which stores the passwords etc. from the old profile and also install the add-ons. When ever I customize the toolbar, the open new tab sign that is the + sign near the lastly opened tab in the tab bar disappears and it remains so even after restarting Firefox. This happens only after updating to the new version 4.0.1 it never happened in the older versions 3.x.xx- checked it thrice. Thought it could be a bug and i didn't know where to report also don't have time and patience to search for the appropriate page so i'm reporting here for improving my favorite browser.

    You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.<br />
    You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.<br />
    If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible to the left of it.<br />

  • Front Panel objects do not stay in place after saving, closing, and reopening the VI.

    I have been working with a couple of versions of a main VI. The original VI was given to me so that I could add additional functionalities to it. I had been designing the front panel of the latest version of the VI on a Dell laptop running Windows 7 and LabView 2011 SP1 using a monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080. My booleans, numerics, and plots on the front panel had always stayed in place after saving, closing, and reopening the VI. Once in the field, I connected my laptop to a cRIO9073 and used my laptop screen with a resolution of 1366x768 to operate the VI. I made some changes to the VI, saved it, and reopened it. This time I noticed that the front panel objects had become overlapped, resized, and generally rearranged. I tried fixing the objects but I noticed that they reverted back to the incorrect positions after saving and reopening the VI. I was successful in keeping the objects in position a couple of times, but when I would open the VI at a later time, the objects were again rearranged. This is happening on both my monitor and laptop screen. The original version of the VI, however, does not behave this way and I have opened it on both my monitor and laptop screen. In this version, the front panel objects always stay in place. Both VI's have the same window size properties. Could I have corrupted the latest version of my VI somehow? Below are screenshots of the front panels of both VI's.

    Hi Miguel,
    It is possible to programmatically set or change the position of front panel objects. (for example: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4D0DA06B43195B3F862572F3000AF2D3?OpenDocument) However, if you haven’t intentionally done that, it seems unlikely that it is the problem.
    Have you tried copying the entire block diagram in to a new VI to see if the problem persists? While it is unlikely, you are right that it is possible for VIs to become corrupted. I’ve never heard of a situation like this except in the situation where the settings Tom had you check have been changed. Here is some information about those settings:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7567EF257B9CFDF986256F630073228F?OpenDocument
    Since there was no rearrangement when you copied the front panel to a new VI, you might try copying the block diagram a little bit at a time to see if there is some particular part of it that creates the problem somehow.

  • Customization for Firefox 29 not staying when closing and reopening firefox

    The only add-on I have added in an attempt to get this new version of firefox to not look so much like a crowded mess is Classic Theme Restorer. My problem is when I click on the "new" customization tool and move say the bookmark star button or say one of my older add-ons like my email checker. I finally get it so this thing is at least passable to me now and close out of the new customize page. I can do that just fine, the problem I then have is if I close out of Firefox - say shut down the computer - then come back a bit later everything has been moved around.
    Things I had on the left side of the screen are now on the right. Buttons are back to their default or just missing all together. Is this a glitch? Or am I just doing something wrong?

    Hello,
    This happens in safe mode?

    Maybe you have a corrupted localstore.rdf, try unhide the hidden files and folder, go to you profile folder, close Firefox, delete or rename the lcalstore.rdf file and restart Firefox, then try make and changes and check if the problem still occur:

  • Page Scheduler add-on not updated for FF4! Can Firefox add such a feature so users are not at mercy of independent developers that do not update their addons?

    Page Scheduler is one of the handiest addons to FF, I do not wish to update to FF4 and lose this functionality. Can Firefox build such page scheduling functionality into their browser???
    The developer of PS has not updated the app to run on FF4 nor have they provided any communication of any plans.

    Well, ultimately nothing worked, except making all the settings I wanted to set part of mozilla.cfg. When I added your suggestion, along with another I found on the web to disable add-on compatibility check, I finally have a Firefox that loads straight to the home page, even after the upgrade.
    Here's what my mozilla.cfg file contains (for 6.0.2):<br />
    <br />
    <pre><nowiki>
    // Disable any auto-updates.
    lockPref("app.update.enabled", false);
    lockPref("extensions.update.enabled", false);
    lockPref("browser.search.update", false);
    lockPref("browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone", "ignore");
    lockPref("extensions.checkCompatibility.6.0", false);</nowiki></pre>
    Of course, I have to do the byteshift-13 to it, but copying the resulting file to Core\ and the firefox.js file to Core\Defaults\Pref\ does the trick.
    Thanks for the help!!

  • I want to disable plugins, which i can do through add-ons manager, but every time i restart firefox they are enabled again

    When i disable plugins firefox runs faster. I could uninstall the plugins, but i periodically want to use them. I have tried using click to play but i want some plugins to run automatically.
    I want to disable selective plugins and have some enabled. When i do this via add-ons manager, all plugins are enable on restarting firefox.

    i don't use any cleanup tools & MSE is my security software, which is rather unobtrusive and shouldn't interfere here...
    i currently have one blocklisted plugin (see screenshot), but if i remember it correctly the problem was already present in my case before i had the outdated acrobat plugin installed.
    sometimes when you enable/disable a plugin in the addons manager & press f5 afterwards, it immediately switches back to its old state/sometimes it will stay on the new state until a restart of the browser & in some cases it will remember the state even across sessions - it's just not working reliably in any way.
    as far as i can observe the pluginreg.dat file in my profile folder the change of a plugin's state isn't written to the file as soon as it's toggled in the UI during a session, but only when the browser is getting closed - so the information has to be in the memory somewhere before and might be getting corrupted. i suspect it might be a general bug but i cannot reproduce it reliably .

  • Ssh-add does not stay, er, added...

    I'm troubleshooting an installation of SSH-Keys. I've successfully installed this with another user. After considerable effort can not discover why the two accounts do not behave the same. One account asks for the passphrase on login, and the other doesn't. Both accounts have the single line ssh-add in ~/.bash_profile.
    Where does ssh-add store the added key for each user? Can I inspect this to discover the problem?
    [xtian@frylock .ssh]$ ssh-add xtian_frylock-id_rsa
    Enter passphrase for xtian_frylock-id_rsa:
    Identity added: xtian_frylock-id_rsa (xtian_frylock-id_rsa)
    [xtian@frylock .ssh]$ ssh-add -L
    ssh-rsa AAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xtian_frylock-id_rsa
    Logout and log back in to find,
    [xtian@frylock ~]$ ssh-add -L
    The agent has no identities.

    Ok. Here's the output from the working root account:
    [root@frylock ~]# printenv | grep -i ssh
    SSH_AGENT_PID=701
    SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/ssh-0HKTJiMZQ6ob/agent.700
    And here's the output from the non-working user account:
    [xtian@frylock ~]$ printenv | grep -i ssh
    SSH_AGENT_PID=836
    SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/ssh-q6eu9w7ofDc3/agent.835
    Now, I don't launch ssh-agent in .bash_profile. Before I tried to configure gpg-agent and, as near as I can recall, I used the same configuration when I fell back to using ssh-agent. Which is to say I put the eval line in a separate file in /etc/profile.d:
    [xtian@frylock ~]$ cat /etc/profile.d/ssh-agent.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    eval $(ssh-agent)
    Where are the ssh-agent environmental variables set? Not in /tmp

    Greetings,

The class I'm taking suggests using google toolbar, --some specific features-- and to do this I need a copy of FFox 5. Can't find one online. Please advise as to how to download a copy of this older browser. Thank you

    Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
    If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check
    You may also need to "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
