Toolbar question

I just set up my new 27" iMac. I'm trying to set up the basic stuff right now and am going nuts that I can't find a way to add the stop/reload button to add to the toolbar. I use that pretty often and am really annoyed that it is saying I have to go to the view and find the reload in the drop down menu. Am I missing something or is this not available on this version? I went and checked my old iMac and it is one of the options on customize toolbar but not here!!!!
Sheesh, seems pretty common thing to use, who needs a freaking autofill feature but wouldn't want the reload option.
Annette

There is currently no option in Safari 4 to customize the placement of the reload/stop icon. If you would like to see one, send Apple Feedback with your feature request.
In the meantime, you might try Command + R on the keyboard to reload a page & Command + period to stop one loading.

  • What's up with the mountain lion toolbar question mark on the right side?

    There was a picture connected to the right side of my toolbar. I deleted it and now a question mark sits in its place. How do I access this and correct it?

    The question mark is an orphaned alias. Cmd-drag it off and poof it!

  • Mail message toolbar question

    I am now using Lion (which installed first time and no issues to date) and Mail 5.0 and this reply from another discussion:
    that window can also have a toolbar. With that email's window frontmost and active, go to the View menu and select Show Toolbar, You can also select the Customize Toolbar item just below that one to change the items in the toolbar.
    The same pertains to the New Message compose window.
    does not seem to work. This seems to be a change with Lion, from what I can gather.
    I can use the View menu to show and hide the toolbar on both an opened message and a new message, but the option below it to customise it, is greyed out.

    Very odd, I wonder why it won't give me those options. Anybody else having the same problem or can suggest an answer ?

  • "Favorites" on the toolbar question

    I've made about 6 Folders to hold my Favorite Web sites, but every time I click to add another site it moves those Folders to the right, until they're gone from the screen. Is there any way to have the sites you add appear to the Right of those Folders instead of the Left, which soon shoves them off the screen?

    Barney, You can create 'Folders' for your toolbar that hold your favorite sites. For example, my first Folder holds all my families sites, like on Facebook, their Websites, etc. When I click on 'Family' a menu drops down and I can click on my favorite family site. I have about 6 of those Folders, so all my Favorites/Bookmarked sites aren't off the right edge of the screen. But as I add bookmarks, it pushes those Folders to the right and eventually off the screen.
    I guess there's no way to have the 'new' Favorite sites go to the right so my Folders stay put. But thanks to both of you for trying to help anyway.

  • CS3 Toolbar question

    Yes I know, its CS3 but this is what I have and I'm taking a class using it.  I am having a problem with CS3 Flash and the toolbar on the left.  Certain tools have options and those options are not showing up. Yes, I went to Customize Tools panel and checked and those options are listed to the right of each tool that should have them (example:   Rectangle tool: oval tool, polystar tool , etc) and even hit reset to default and still those options do not show up on the actual toolbar. I made a graphic thinking that would make them show up and no it didn't.  It seems to be a problem for each tool that has a options and they are 1. Free Transform Tool,  2. Pen tool and 3. Rectangle tool.   Hopefully I am just having a major brain fart and its something simple. But I did have major issues installing the CS3  Web Premium .  I hope I don't have to do a reinstall.. groan. I know I had major issues with Photoshop too but it appears to be working ok.   HELP...  week one homework is due this weekend !

    To get the extras to appear in the toolbar, you need to press and hold down the cursor on the symbol in the toolbar--it should appear while you are holding it down.
    CS3 is a good thing, so there's no reason to feel bad about using it... some folks still use it as a preference even after acquiring the newer versions.

  • Fun toolbar question

    you know how some programs with toolbars have multiple toolbars at the top? (open up MS word for an example) I wish to implement that, except only one toolbar may be in BorderLayout.PAGE_START position, trying to put more than one overwrites whatever was there first.
    so I put all my toolbars in a pane with default FlowLayout, and then put that on the main panel at PAGE_START, which looks fine... until I resize my window, then all my toolbars are centered at the top of the window rather than left justified at the top.
    I've tried doing panels inside panels... toolbar panel inside the left slot of another toolbar panel with gridlayout(1,2), thinking toolbar panel would always stay to the left
    I've tried toolbarpanel.setAlignmentX(LEFT)... which says for vertical? alignment... and so also setAlignmentY(LEFT)... which says for horizontal? alignment, thinking this would keep my toolbars added to the panel to the left
    I've tried toolbarpanel.setMaxSize(preferredSize) thinking that the panel resizes and centers its contents within, so don't let it resize
    I've just been banging my head on this problem and trying solutions that are more and more complicated when I'm sure there must be an easy way to have multiple toolbars at the top left of the screen. also, collecting the toolbars inside a panel, other than the main program panel, makes it so I cannot anchor the toolbars on edges of the main panel, so the problem is even trickier.

    Howdy.
    Have you tried:
         JPanel p_toolbars = new JPanel(new FlowLayout(SwingConstants.WEST));
              p_toolbars.add(toolbar_docParts);
              p_toolbars.add(toolbar_charAtts);regards

  • TOOLBAR QUESTION...PROBABLY NOT THAT IMPORTANT...

    I've noticed in all the tutorials, that the toolbar has four differently colored circles.  These do not appear on mine.  Believe me, this is the LEAST of my problems with CS5, but just curious.

    I would jut encourage you to make sure the names of the bookmarks are
    as short as possible. For instance:
    Apple Discussions = AD

    I agree, it would be nice to have two levels . . .

  • IPhone 4 FaceTime toolbar question.

    Is there a way to move or hide the MUTE / END/ SWITCH CAMERA toolbar when using FaceTime on the iPhone 4?  I travel a lot for work.  We have a Mac at home.  I set up FT last week so that I could have a video call with my 3 1/2 y/o each night.  She isn't very interested in talking on the phone, but FT holds her attention and it makes it easier to understand what she is saying b/c I can see her face.  The only problem is that she isn't tall enough, and the Mac camera does not pan down far enough so that she is in the middle of the screen.  The toolbar covers her face.   Suggestions?

    You can try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:

  • New page tb not loading correctly.

    Awhile ago, my grandson downloaded something to my computer that installed the Babylon search engine to my computer. It replaced the new page tabs. I have removed Babylon from my machine, at least everything I could find, but the new page tab still loads Babylon. Firefox has updated twice since then and it still happens. I have checked the plug ins, the add ons, the search preferences and can not find any mention of Babylon. Help please as I do not want this happening. I want the new page back that shows the pictures. How do I do this?

  • CS4 is missing the Pagemaker tool bar, is there an equivilant?

    I did read in the description that the Pagemaker Tool bar (was renamed to something else for CS3) was removed totally from CS4.  Is there any equivilant tool bar in CS4 that gives a lot of the same options like open and save buttons?  I also used the increase and decrease all fonts button and the zoom in and out buttons all the time.  Now it is forcing the user to go into the dropdowns to do a lot of the same stuff now which are extra steps.  If there is nothing in CS4 like this anymore, are there any plugins to create something similar out there?

    I don't know the answer to your toolbar question -- but all of the functions you mention have simple keyboard shortcuts, which are (in my experience) much quicker and easier to use than toolbar buttons (or menus), and keep me from excess mousing and repetitive motion injuries. And the lack of a toolbar gives me more screen real estate for doing actual work. If you do, in fact, use these commands "all the time," it's probably worth your time to at least try them. On the Mac, command-shift-angle-brackets increases or decreases type size of selected text by an amount you set in preferences; open and save are command-O and command-S; zooming is done with command-hyphen and command-equals (think minus and plus), and command-zero fits the page to the window.
    The standard toolbar does at least have a place you can click to resize the currently selected text -- the little arrows next to the current font size.

  • Yahoo tool bar, is there an distribution without it?

    At first how bad is this
    you are adding the yahoo toolbar to the java updater/installer AS AN OPT OUT option
    I am not really sure if i had any chance to opt out with the standard installtion.
    SOOOOOOOOOO stupid until now i loved java and now when you want to go into RIA you are doing things like this.
    NOW i have to distrust java great job. and our users are blaming us for installing adware on their computers. GREAT.
    But the problem now i have this peace of code in my browsers how do i remove this from all my browsers?
    And more important is there an distribution without that toolbar since it has seriously negative effects on our business.

  • I asked a question about organizing bookmarks in my toolbar bookmark. I'm not happy with the "help" I got. I'm very frustrated. I need to talk to a technician. How can I get in touch with one? Do you have contact information?

    Can't find out how to organize my bookmarks. can't do it after updating. Person tried to help, we had long conversations, I sent lots of images, it got to where I think the answer given were not related to the problem. I asked for help from a technician or to give my emails to one. She won't do it and I can't get help. So I'm starting over. It shouldn't be this hard. I need someone else to help me.

    re: How do I organize and delete bookmarks in my short toolbar list.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/884877
    You say you have a lot of duplicate bookmarks, and want to know how to organize bookmarks, but from the pictures shown, I really only see a news subscription, some sample bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar that you don't display on the toolbars so I don't see point in deleting anything there most of it are reports from the database or from a news subscription nothing of much concern, really. I would dump the news subscription if you don't use it.
    How do you want to arrange your bookmarks, but you must keep within some boundaries of what was expected of the three major folders.
    Bookmarks Menu -- this is your folder categorized bookmarks, originally all bookmarks were in this folder and the bookmarks toolbar was one folder within -- that has changed.
    Bookmarks Toolbar -- intended to be visible on the toolbar with main bookmarks and folders spread out horizontally to save one level of drilling down into folders, with very few bookmarks and folders visible on the toolbar but quickly accessed. You can use the bookmarks showing essentially as buttons a few primary bookmarklets. You can have folder structure there so you could actually have thousands of bookmarks there within folders.
    Unsorted Bookmarks (no folders within by intent not by restriction) -- new concept to not categorize bookmarks into folders because of bookmark tagging. Delicious.com will show you what they intended where you have lots of people. I think the concept of tagging breaks down with one person. The other reason bookmarks no longer had to be put into folders was the "AwesomeBar" feature of Firefox that is a great feature it will find bookmarks whatever folder they are in -- I hope you are familiar with it. You can throw bookmark separators into any folder but they are especially useful in the unsorted bookmarks folder, especially if you sort the folder. In other words a group probably within a date range.
    So how do you see yourself categorizing your bookmarks ?
    I'd like to get an idea of '''how many bookmarks '''you have altogether and how big your places.sqlite file is. To find out how many bookmarks you have all together bring up the Bookmarks Library list, place a colon (":") into the search field this will do a find on all of your bookmarks. At the bottom of the library window you will see the total number of bookmarks you may have to nudge the vertical scrollbar down, and as long as no bookmarks are selected you will see an '''item count'''.
    Open your profile folder Help > Troubleshooting information... then click on "Open containing folder" then looking in bookmarkbackups folder and report size of last .json file in there -- hope you can see the extension the filenames have dates.
    From the library list you can see if you actually do have a lot or any duplicated by eyeballing the list sorted by the location. You don't want to delete anything yet until you know what you want to do and what folders the bookmarks actually in, as you would not want to delete a categorized bookmark for an uncategorized one.
    I have 1256 bookmarks, a bookmarks backup file (.json) is 1849 KB.
    I have 750 of those bookmarks have a keyword shortcut -- most of my bookmarks may not actually be bookmarks to webpages.
    Install the "Show Parent Folder" extension, it would be important for manually categorizing and deleting bookmarks.
    *https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/show-parent-folder/
    At some point you will want to install the "Sort Places" extension that allows you to sort folders recursively in a matter of seconds. Only sort when you want to sort, never automatically.
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/sortplaces/
    Other extensions of interest for working with bookmarks are included in
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sorting_and_rearranging_bookmarks_-_Firefox
    The columns in the bookmarks library list that I show are
    :Name, Location, Parent Folder, visit date, visit count, Keyword, Description, Last Modified
    The important columns for eliminating duplicates are
    :Name, Location, Parent Folder, Keyword, Description
    :if you have Tags then that column would also be important not to delete the bookmark
    Sort on Location look for duplicates, expect you won't find as many as you thought you would, because Firefox makes it difficult to create duplicates if you use the bookmarks star. I wouldn't delete any until you really know what you want to do, if you have duplicate you would not want to delete one a primary location based on parent directory or the one you use with a keyword.
    I don't really think you have much to delete in your toolbars list, they are basically examples. Would highly recommend you keep something in the bookmarks toolbar even though you are not displaying it.
    The only case of having major duplicates are if you have imported bookmarks at the bottom of your bookmarks menu also named bookmarks menu or something similar. You would see that in the parent folder column -- you cannot sort on the parent folder column.
