ToolBox v. WebAssist's DataAssist

Can anyone comment on the functionality of Toolbox vs
Webassists DataAssist programs in terms of ease of use,
documentation (walking through set ups for the inexperienced) and
extent of functions. I would be using it in conjunction with
Coldfusion.
A second question -- InterAkt was unable to
Insert/Delete/Update across multiple tables that were linked with
keys. Has this shortcoming been addressed in either product?
Thanks.

This may be a problem with the extension manager, try uninstalling then reinstalling it. Doing this will not affect any of your installed extensions, as they will be recognized by the new install, you may have to re-activate the webassist extension though.
Ensure that the DataAssist extension is the latest version (available for you), and that iit is compatible with CS4.
If this does not solve the problem, please try contacting the webassist support (http://www.webassist.com/ select support, then click on submit a ticket), they try to reply within 24 hrs.

  • WebAssist DataAssist issue

I've got a weird issue I'm not sure how to trouble shoot...
Using DW CS3, PHP/MySQL on Mac OS 10.5
Implemented WebAssist's DataAssist to generate database
    management pages.
When I attempt to insert a new record with the insert page,
the Results page "hangs" and never finishes loading. The data does
make it into the database, but the Results page never loads. If I
quit the browser and then go directly to the Results page, it loads
    no problems.
I'm not getting any error messages or anything and I'm not
sure where to start to trouble shoot. Suggestions?

OK, now I'm really confused. Testing other pages. The Delete
page worked fine for several times. Hit "Delete" and the browser
would properly return to the "Results" page with the item indeed
    deleted.
Now on the third or fourth time I attempted to delete a
listing, the Results page has done the same "hanging" and never
    fully loading...

    Please help....
I have almost finished a site for a client who has NOW informed me he would like to be able to go in and edit text and photos. Whithout using "cushycms" or any other online site how can this be done?

You can build the administration pages yourself.  I suggest you consider using WebAssist's DataAssist to help.  I use it on nearly every site I build.

  • Need Advice on WebAssist Professional: Super Suite

I'm not sure where to post this. I started in another forum but then deleted it. I hope it's okay here.
I am a web designer who is slowing moving from GoLive to DWCS3. I know only a little about code and do not wish to write it. It is the other side of my brain, which is already taxed to the limit.
It seems inevitable that if I continue with web design, I willl have to buy more tools in order to use DW, stay up on web standards, and offer my clients the best products. I've recently been looking at ProjectSeven. Then I found the thread "KTML and CSS Menus Support" and read about WebAssist Professional.
I wonder if I could get some feedback on WebAssist Professional. How easy is it to use? Is the Super Suite worth the money? Etc. It's on sale until Sept. 25. Is this a worthwhile investment?
    Thank you for your feedback.
    Linda

    Hello,
I purchased WA Super Suite and really like it due to the fact it saves me time laying out sites and developing the back end.
From my experience you will not find any tool, plugin or widget that will create all aspects for you in teh way you want or need it to be. There will always be bugs and that is why it is important to learn at least basics of coding. CSS, Xhtml, XML, PHP and MySQL. If you use other tings like CF or ASP then learn the basics at least of how they work.
The reason I purchased Super Suite was to dramatically speed up development time. I do not like ways it does certain things but I don't care because I will be changing it to fit my needs anyway. The bugs are interesting but I use Dreamweaver and PsPad to create with. I use Dreamweaver to visually layout the site and create dynamic backend stuff. I use PsPad to edit things DW won't let me then reload into DW to continue working.
I use code snipits and create my own library of code I changed from the generated code WA creates.
I am looking right now at purchasing ADDT to compliment WA Super Suite and the primary tool I am using is the Query Builder. I downloaded the Trial and really like it. The form builder at least so far creates all the form fields correctly unlike Web Assists Super Suite Form application. But how hard is it to use DW to change the fields? Takes me a few minutes at most to edit or replace a checkbox with a text field and then rearrange the form fields into the order I want.
I really love it, using Dreamweaver and these plugins to quickly generate pages that if I had to hand code or manually create would take hours. I do a lot of database driven applications and sites. The code alone would take me 4 or 5 hours just to do get all the database calls and data manipulated so I can use it.
That is why I am looking at ADDT and using both WA and ADDT to increase my productivity. Don't expect any software to auto generate webpages that will look, behave and operate exactly how you need it to out of the box. That is just the starting point for you to massage it and mold it to what you need. I personally will say that if you have both WA and ADDT you wil have a lot less massaging to do but like I said, if you don't know how it all works together in the code it will be more difficult for you.
I went to bestbuy the other day, they have a MAC store now in house. I played around with a few of their floor models. If you don't like to mess with code I would suggest go get a mac and just drag and drop what you want and design from a pure visual stand point. I messed with the editor in the new mac op sys for 20 minutes and never found out how you look at the source of the page so I guess it would never be a problem for the purely visual artists and designers out there.
The problem for us developers, designers and artists when it comes to building applications and sites for the internet. Is that everything on the internet is run by lines of code. You can dress them up and make all sorts of visual interfaces to modify those lines of code. Though I have never yet found a tool that will do everything possible you can do with those lines of code in the way you may need it to perform, behave, look etc...
That is why it is important to understand how those lines of code work. This gives you great power because you are not dependant on a specific tool that locks you into doing things the way the developer of that tool thinks it should be done. I love using tools, I love being able to press a button after answering some questions and have all those lines of code just magically appear so I don't have to go look in a book or research google forever and ever to know where and how to start.
But when it comes down to it, now matter how good the tool is. There will be somethings that is just easier and faster to edit, add, massage by hand. Then load it back in to the tool of your choice, mine is DW CS3 by the way, and see what it looks like.
Pricey, some of these tools and addon's to these tools are. Yes. BUT... Unless this is a hobby for you, the money earned back in actually using these tools to speed up your work flow is in the long run more than worth it.
I will share something with you from my own personal business. I just got 2 gigs that will earn my business over 100,000.00 probably over 200,000 over the next year. Guess what I am going to be using to create these websites and applications? Web Assist Super Suite and more than likely here really soon Adobe Dreamweaver Developer ToolKit/Toolbox...
Can I do the projects without them.. Of course. But why? I want to press a button and have all those lines of code generated for me. I then massage those lines of code to work how I want and need after the button is pressed. I really love it.
Yes, there is somethings that can't be done with the two tools and there are bugs in both. That is why it is very important to have at least a basic level understanding of how the backend code works so you can easily or somewhat easily not just take the bugs out but make it work to your needs.
Long post I am sorry about that but really when it comes to all this stuff. The internet changes on a daily basis, new technology pops up and technology blinks out or merges with others.. It is a common occurance. Developing or designing for the internet is literally like working on a living animal. The animal is continually moving, breathing and growing. Things that fit a month ago may not fit today. That is life.
The more you learn, the more you grow with the internet the more you will earn. Up your prices if you are freelance and start running your business as if it were indeed a business. I will receive on going revenue for the life of these projects including what I am paid upfront and ongoing to maintain them. Too many in our industry just shoot for the upfront monies. I don't want to work for a boss, I don't want to have a day job. I currently make more money doing less than any day job would be willing to pay me. I don't know, if the tool you use isn't working for you you have a couple options. Change it so it works for you OR buy a tool that will do what you need or at least more closely than your current tool.
That is what I love about Dreamweaver over all the other tools out there. You can make it do, and work how you want and need on a moments notice. Add a plugin, take the code generated from that plugin alter it to how you need it then create a snipit library and reuse it time after time, again and again. It is the combination that is so powerful, WA doesnt do what you need. alter it inside DW.. add a new plugin that takes up the slack.. merge the codes, massage until you get it working right then save it into library and create new template based on that. Then reuse again and again. Add to it, take away then create new template. rinse repeat and now you have a complete line of templates that allow you to create anything you want, that works how you want and the best part... You can make that work how you need to also and change...
Try doing that with rigid premade software out there, membership scripts, shopping carts.. whatever. Freaking nightmare, with limited flexibility and you have to change things to work with it not the other way around. That's why I invest in these tools. Great Stuff.

We do have people that respond to posts in our support forum,
so please feel free to start a thread in an appropriate forum:
    http://www.webassist.com:8119/
You can find help for DataAssist here by clicking the Support
    header in the product description:
    http://www.webassist.com/professional/products/productdetails.asp?PID=117
For other products visit their detail page and click Support.
In the "Buy now" pod, there are several links that are
generally present for each product that may be of use: Feature
Tour, Solution Recipe. There is also a "Web Development: before you
begin" item, but you probably don't need that if you're already
have a development web server and databases already up and running.
Here's a list of all of our solution recipes linked to from our
home page (two are listed related to DataAssist: DataAssist 2.0 and
    DataAssist Search):
    http://www.webassist.com/professional/products/solutionrecipes.asp
Again on the WebAssist home page there is a link for support
    ( linked to
    http://www.webassist.com/professional/support/
) which lists an email address ( [email protected] ) where you
can send any pre-sales questions you may have.
To respond to Mystifier's comment about WebAssist support:
For support incidents, in the past we used to have X support
incidents per product (where X was based upon product price, more $
more incidents) and last year we moved to free support. So product
support is free for owners of a product.

  • LaserJet 1536dnf's ToolBox FX no longer views faxes received to Windows 8.1 (64-bit) laptop

My 1536dnf was previously receiving faxes to my Toshiba laptop. A message box would appear on screen informing me when faxes were received. I used to be able to open the HP ToolBoxFX where a list of faxes received would appear in the received faxes log screen - AND A CLICK ON "VIEW" LINK would be displayed; I'd click on "VIEW" and the fax would apear as a PDF doc.
HOWEVER, for some reason the VIEW link no longer appears in the received faxes log; there is nothing to click on to view the fax, and hence I CANNOT VIEW RECEIVED FAXES anymore.
In the received faxes log screen it still displaces the date/time, number of pages, and from whom the fax is received, I am just not able to view the (apparently) received fax. If I knew what folder on my PC the faxes were stored I would go there to pull up the PDF docs, but I cannot find where this data is stored.
I've also noticed thatI have April 2014 firmware and the latest firmware update is dated August 2014, but after multiple attempts the latest firmware update will not install. It downloads, appears to install, but the config report indicates the newest firmware is NOT installed.
The LJ  1536dnf remains in my local network via eathernet cable, and the printer and scanner components of the MFP function normally. The fax component manually sends faxes and can receive and print faxes in hard copy form.
**PLEASE SOMEONE HELP**  Thank you in advance.

    Hi @SimonSpeak ,
I see that you are having issues opening the faxes from the Toolbox. I will be happy to help you.
    Restart the computer.
Temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software, just to rule out any interference.
Try opening the Toolbox Software again.
Make sure Adobe Flash is up to date. I believe it piggy banks the HP Toolbox Software.
You can always restore your computer back to a earlier time when everything was working properly. It might have been a update that caused this issue, since uninstalling and reinstalling the software isn't allowing the software to work either. How to refresh, reset, or restore your PC on Windows 8.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
Try updating the printer's firmware by a USB connection. HP LaserJet Firmware Update Utility.

  • SSIS Package Load Failure and is missing Execute SQL Task in Toolbox

Also, BIDS closes after right-clicking the toolbox and selecting “Choose Items”.
I’ve tried several ways to fix these issues with no success.
I’m running SSIS/SSMS/SQL Server 2008 R2 (but not running an SQL instance on my PC) on a Windows XP with Service Pack 3 workstation. I get the following errors:
    WHEN OPENING BIDS:
I get 2 errors titled “Package Load Failure”. They both reference ‘Visual Studio Explorers and Designers Package’ as being what failed to load. The first message references GUID 8D8529D3-625D-4496-8354-3DAD630ECC1B. The second references GUID AA612177-A69A-4391-B2F4-17F8A88F4BBA
. They both mention contacting the package vendor, but I haven’t got any Add-ins loaded so I’m not sure what that means exactly. They also both ask if I’d like to skip loading the package in the future.
    ONCE BIDS IS OPEN:
No error messages appear here. There is no ‘Execute SQL Task’ in the toolbox for Control Flows. Also, if I attempt to open a project containing this object (Execute SQL Task), I get this error in a modal window:
    TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio
There were errors while the package was being loaded.
    The package might be corrupted.
See the Error List for details.

Finally, when I attempt to add the Execute SQL Task via the Tools menu, “Choose Toolbox Items” selection, I do get the tabbed box for adding things. However, they only come up after issuing this error:
The following assemblies are installed SDK assemblies but could not be shown in the customize toolbox dialog because they are missing one or more components. Please make sure that all necessary libraries are available:
    Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlCEDest.dll

    Microsoft.Synchronization.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
(above dll repeated at bottom of message)
After this message, I have my choice of .NET Framework Compnents. When I select COM Components, those come up with no problem. The WPF Components tab generates the same dll error above. The Maintenance tab is empty. The SSIS Data Flow Items tab loads fine,
as does the SSIS Control Flow Items tab – but there’s no Execute SQL Task there either.
If you open the toolbox (on a new project, with a project loaded, or without a project loaded) and right-click, then select “Choose Items”, the entire application quickly closes. This “closing behavior” is the same thing you get if you attempt to add toolbox
items through either the Tools menu or the right-click method when you launch BIDS in SafeMode.
    In an effort to fix this – I’ve rolled back the .NET Framework version to 3.0 and reinstalled back up to 4; I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled SQL Server 2008 R2 shared services as well as the entire application; I’ve cleared the .tbd files from my user profile;
and I’ve run several things from the command line (devenv.exe /resetuserdata, /setup, /resetskippkgs, etc.). Lastly – I’ve applied every Service Pack and update applicable to my PC (ok, it belongs to my employer – but no one here has been able to figure this
    out either).
After having worked this for several days now and, I think, exhausting every available avenue from search engines – I turn to you. Please let me know if you can help. Also, I can provide any additional

  • Performance with MySQL and Database connectivity toolbox

    Hi!
I'm having quite some problems with the performance of MySQL and Database connectivity toolbox. However, I'm very happy with the ease of using database connectivity toolbox. The background is:
I have 61 variables (ints and floats) which I would like to save in the MySQL-database. This is no problem, however, the loop time increases from 8ms to 50ms when using the database. I have concluded that it has to do with the DB Tools Insert Data.vi and I think that I have some kind of performance issue with this VI. The CPU never reach more the 15% of its maximum performance. I use a default setup and connect through ODBC.
    My questions are:
    1. I would like to save 61 variables each 8-10ms, is this impossible using this solution?
    2. Is there any way of increasing the performance of the DB Tools Insert Data.vi or use any other VI?
    3. Is there any way of adjusting the MySQL setup to achieve better performance?
Thank you very much for your time.
    Regards,
    Mattias

First of all, thank you very much for your time. All of you have been really good support to me.
    >> Is your database on a different computer?  Does your loop execute 61 times?
Database is on the same computer as the MySQL server.
The loop saves 61 values at once to the database, in one SQL-statement.
I have now added the front panel and block diagram for my test-VI. I have implemented the queue system and separate loops for producer and consumer. However, since the queue is building up faster then the consumer loop consumes values, the queue is building up quite fast and the disc starts working.
The test database table that I add data to is created by a simple:
    create table test(aa int, bb char(15));
...I'm sure that this can be improved in some way.
I always open and close the connection to the database "outside the loop". However, it still takes some 40-50 ms to save the data to the database table - so, unfortunatly no progress to far. I currently just want to save the data.
Any more advise will be gratefully accepted.
    Regards,
    Mattias

  • Excel VBA - ActiveX Control - MonthView not available under ActiveX Toolbox for Windows 8 64bit MS Office 2010

    Hello,
    I have Windows 8, 64bit and Office 2010
I am trying to get the 'datepicker' (MonthView) ActiveX control toolbox in Excel 2010 as part of a Excel UserForm I have created. I have spent all day trying to find a solution for my problem.
I opened up the 'more.. ' but the MonthView/datepicker/calendar control is not listed.
I referred to some articles and confirmed that I do indeed have the mscomct2.ocx file in the C:\Windows\syswow64 folder.
I followed the instructions as above, opening up the Administrator Command Prompt and changed the directory to C:\Windows\syswow64 and typed in RegSvr32.
I received a popup screen confirming my registration was successful
Excel was closed. So I opened Excel and checked out the ActiveX Tool box and clicked on the 'More  Controls', but there was no listing for the Microsoft MonthView control, (nor datepicker/calendar)
I then downloaded the latest Windows Common Controls 2 6.0 from the following site
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
Copied the original file (2008) and saved it elsewhere on the computer for safekeeping.
    Extracted the new mscomct2.ocx.
Under the C:\Windows\syswow64 I changed the original file properties to allow me to overwrite it with the new file. This worked … old file replaced.
I then registered the new file via the Administrator Command Prompt (as above) and was notified that it was successful. I rebooted pc and went back into Excel to find the MonthView in the
ActiveX toolbox, More Controls… and it still wasn’t there …
I would be very grateful if someone could advise how I can get this control and allow me to use it.
If I have left out any information that you need to resolve this issue, please advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly

    Hi George,
Thank you for checking this out ... :)
    I am using Office 2010 64 bit ...
    I found the
mscomct2.ocx file originally within the C:\Windows\syswow64 directory (this was an original file .... which I expect was installed via Microsoft at the time of the Office installation.
As I mentioned above, I followed
the instructions (same as the ones you suggested), but still no go, even though it stated that the registration was successful ! :(
Why weren't these features included in the 64 bit ? ... yes, I read the article ... but ... so MS doesn't think that people/developers would be needing this in due course?  I installed the 64bit version because I'm running the Win8 64bit version ...and
I deal with a lot of large spreadsheets and can't afford to sleep whilst they decide to load.
If MS included all the other ActiveX controls and some obscure ones, surely some bright spark could have thought that something as useful as MonthView should be included as 'basic' necessity when dealing with forms and sheets?
Perhaps you could pass the suggestion up the line .... there are a lot of other people out there having the same problem ... I found heaps when I was looking for a solution.
Sorry, I'm not having a go at you, but just incredibly frustrated .... the amount of lost productivity directly cause by trying to find a solution that doesn't exist ... it's been at least a good solid 24 hours.
But thank you for taking the time to review my post and your suggestion. It's unfortunate that because you are part of the organisation ... you tend to cop some slack from frustrated people like myself.
In relation to the pictures/screen dumps, 2 of them made it (I can see them in my post) ... one I deliberately left out because there was nothing on there that showed anything other than the rest of the 'More Controls' - nothing to do with the MonthView.
Please feel free to escalate this to the powers that be ... and hopefully enough people will join the voice so a change can be made (I can dream ... can't I?)
I've taken a screen dump of the Forms/ActiveX toolbox.
I don't know what the next step is ... I guess you'd be able to advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly

I have a 3 week old W510, Windows 7 64-bit, i7 Thinkpad. Over the Chritmas holidays I was able to start exploring the software that came loaded on the machine. One of these was the ThinkVantage Toolbox which I accessed at least 2 or 3 times to explore the programs and what they had to offer. It worked fine and I was able to view the different offerings inside the toolbox.
Two days ago I used the Lenovo ThinkVantage Tools "Update and Drivers" to find updates to the the machine. It found some updates (I'm not sure of each and everyone but they seemed reasonable) and downloaded them all to bring the system up-to-date.
Today I tried to access the Toolbox and was greeted with a License Authentication Failed message box with this message:
"This Version of Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox is not licensed to run on this system".
I assume it was something in the recent updates that did this. I have only installed a couple other photo editing pieces of software since then that I doubt would have any effect on this.
I certainly can do a system restore back to before I did the updates, but I'd rather not since a) the updates for the most part appeared to be needed and were successful, b) I'd rather not have to update those things that have auto-updated (like Norton and Super Anti-Spyware definitions), and c) I'm not sure restoring will help, not to mention re-installing the other pieces of software that successfully installed.
I have been a good doo-bee poster and searched this forum and other web resources and while there is reference made to some solutions for this, I didn't fully understand them so I figured I would ask here for help before trying anything. I do have Lenovo phone support but trying here before calling them.
Thoughts anyone? Should I simply download the latest ThinkVantage Toolbox software and install it? If so, should I uninstall the version I have now?
Looking for any assistance anyone could render.
    Thank you.
    Jim

    Hi again Jim,
    First of all you're welcome!
I have another suggestion for you, it might successfully help you in updating Toolbox to the current version, but for this I'd suggest that you first create a restore point just in case the advice fails. Once created a restore point, launch ThinkVantage Toolbox, give it a minute to completely load/run quick tests etc, thereafter click the green colored question mark -> check for updates, once it finds the latest version, let it download and install, I'm hopeful you won't run into any issues via this approach.
    Keep us posted.

  • Compilation errors in default toolbox application in jdev 10g

    jdev version: 10.1.3.3
OA Framework version (as per the instance): 12.1.3
First of all I could not find OA Framework Dev Guide for 12.1.3. So I am referring to OAF 12.1.2 dev guide. Please let me know if this is ok. If not, please let me know where I can refer OAF 12.1.3 dev guide.
Now, I am Setting up my development environment on windows as per the OAF dev guide. I completed tasks 1 to 6 as instructed in the guide.
In final task 7 "Test your setup", when I rebuild the application, I am getting 2 errors as follows:
    Project: C:\Jdeveloper10g\jdevhome\jdev\myprojects\LabSolutions.jpr
    C:\Jdeveloper10g\jdevhome\jdev\myprojects\oracle\apps\fnd\framework\toolbox\labsolutions\Supplier.java
Error: cannot read classfile: XMLDomainInterface.class on classpath C:\Jdeveloper10g\jdevbin\BC4J\lib\bc4jmt.jar/oracle/jbo/domain/XMLDomainInterface.class
Error(162,28): XMLDomainInterface not found in interface oracle.jbo.domain.XMLDomainWriter in class oracle.jbo.domain.Date in class oracle.apps.fnd.framework.toolbox.labsolutions.Supplier
I dont have any clue about these errors. I would highly appreciate if some OA Framework expert can provide some help/suggestion in this regard.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply Gyan!
I am referring following metalink note for jdev patch/version:
How to find the correct version of JDeveloper to use with eBusiness Suite 11i or Release 12.x [ID 416708.1]
As per the metalink note, for R12.1.3
12.1.3 (patch 9239090 or patch 8919491) Patch 9879989 10G JDEVELOPER WITH OA EXTENSION ARU FOR R12.1.3
    Does it mean that for R12.1.3 we can use any of the 3 jdev patches - 9239090 / 8919491 / 9879989 ?
Or we have to use 9879989 only? Please advise.
My collegue was already having patch 8919491. So I am using the same.
    Thanks
P.S. I have been using Oracle Forums since 5 years. Just that I am using it with new ID now. Anyway, thanks for sharing forum announcement!

  • I hate the fact that I can no longer access my Norton toolbox.

I find the new update way more than I need. I dislike that it disabled Norton Security Toolbox without telling me ahead of time. I would not have upgraded. I don't think this update simplifies my online management of anything

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
