Tools menu palette names missing

I have a new copy of PSE 11 and the tools menu palette names on the left side of the screen are missing. I notice that some tutorials show the palette names and others do not. How do you turn these names on or off?
Thanks, harryjco40

Yes, I'm in Expert Mode. It appears it's somethig to do with screen resolution - I've just found a possible answer at:
http://answers.oreilly.com/topic/3606-photoshop-elements-11-hints-and-tips/
"Adobe also redesigned the Tools panel in Elements 11. It's always two columns now, for one thing. Also, if your screen is tall enough, the tools are grouped into labeled sections: View, Select, Enhance, Draw, and Modify. (If your screen resolution is minimal for Elements, you won't see these section headings.)"
My laptop is a Toshiba with a resolution of 1366x768, so I think the vertical resolution might be the problem.
Thanks for your help.

  • Photoshop missing in bridge tools menu since CC2014 upgrade

Photoshop is missing from the Bridge Tools menu since my CC2014 upgrade.
How do I get it back?
    Any help?
    I'm dead in the water.
    r.

Well, My Ps CC is long gone and, apparently, re-installing it does not solve the problem.  I posted another discussion on this issue within this forum entitled "Many communication issues between Photoshop CC 2014 and Bridge since update."  Sorry, had forgotten about this one.  I also tried calling Adobe's Tech support, but they don't seem even to be aware of such issues and were not able to present a solution over the phone.  So far, here is a summary of what is happening with me, which I hope will help pinpoint everyone else's issues:
    1. "Browse in Bridge" from Photoshop will result on CC app window opening asking if I am sure that I want to update "this Bridge version."  I have no idea of what this means.  I already updated Bridge and Photoshop over and over and the issue still occurs.
    2. Bridge tools menu does not have the options to open images in Photoshop any longer.  This is to me the most frustrating issue of all.
    3. Mini Bridge is absent from Ps CC 2014
So, could Adobe please help here?

  • Indesign Missing from Bridge CS6 Tools Menu

I'm using CS6 and indesign is missing from my tools menu. I checked startup scripts in preferences and it is checked. I tried unchecking it and restarting it then rechecking it and I also tried resetting my preferences when starting bridge. Running OSX 10.8.5 and Bridge 5.0.0.39
P.S. I feel like this should be an easy fix and an easy thing to search for but I've searched extensively and the only thing I've found is the question asked occasionally. I've not found anything for CS6 and I've not found a solution.

Yes. I ended up solving this on my own but I did want to revisit it for anyone else who finds this message. I can't believe it had been that long since I'd generated a conatct sheet like this but, for what it's worth, this change is not for the better. Previously you were able to use the tools in indesign to control the quality and file size of the final pdf. The new way of doing it is certainly faster but it gives much less control and I ended up with a 50mb contact sheet when presenting around 150 images
Anyway, this is how you do it in later versions of CS http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WS42C3020A-DAD1-4f92-8014-012263F3A51D.
Also, the reason Indesign and After Effects were greyed out when I was trying to use the place command is because I wasn't trying to place a single image I was trying to make a contact sheet. Meaning I had multiple images selected. You can only place one image at a time so the place command is greyed out.

  • Photoshop submenu is missing under tools menu in bridge

I Have downloaded the new Photoshop CC 2014 and updated Bridge. Trying to send some pictures from Bridge to photoshop as layers is not possible because the photoshop submenu is not available under tools.
Checking Bridge preferences > start up, does not show Photoshop.
Checking Library> Adobe > BridgeCC > start up, does not have Photoshop in it.
Can somebody help me restore the Photoshop submenu.
    Thanks
    Rene.

Today when I start Bridge it had a message asking if I want to install a "Photoshop extension”.
    So my problem is solved.
    Thanks.

I have the same problem when trying to do a photomerge.
Work around by opening files than doing 'add open files'

  • How can I extract pages from a PDF? The Tools menu is missing.

I used to be able to extract pages from my PDF file. I don't see the tools icon anymore. How can I access the tools icon?

    Hi lenm,
To extract pages, you need to use Acrobat (not Adobe Reader). As I can attest (because I do have both Reader and Acrobat installed on the same computer), it is quite easy to open files in Reader when you mean to open then in Acrobat. So, please make sure you have the right app open. (I pull this one all the time!)
Now, if the Tools menu is missing from Acrobat, choose View > Show/Hide > Toolbar Items > Show Toolbars to make them reappear.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • TOOLS menu option missing from Adobe X Standard docs when opened in IE10

    Hi,
A few of our users are having issues where any Adobe X document they open in Internet Explorer is missing the Tools menu bar on the top right of the document.
If they open the document in Adobe directly, the Tools menu appears.
It's only when opening in IE that the problem occurs.
Enable third-party applications is checked in Internet Options > Advanced.
I don't have this on my machine - IE displays the Tools menu correctly - so I can only assume it's a plug-in or a setting I'm missing on the users' machines.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers!

Slightly confused - why wouldn't it be available? Is it a limitation of the browser being unable to activate the plug-ins which are part of Adobe Acrobat X Standard? It's just functionality for altering the layouts of PDFs, page numbering, etc. Should be fairly standard?

  • Tools and Help is missing from my menu bar.

All I can find is how to add the Menu bar which I have; what I'm missing are the Tools and Help menus. I have updated to version 21, and it's still missing. How do I find those 2 missing menus?

Hi anniespahic, if you have no menu or toolbar area at all, you might be in full screen mode. The F11 function key switches between regular and full screen views. You might also get a menu to exit full screen view if you slide your mouse all the way to the top of the screen and right-click.
If you have a toolbar area but no menu, try tapping the Alt key to show the menu bar temporarily. Then you can re-display the menu bar using
View menu > Toolbars > Menu Bar
(I'm assuming Windows; this might work differently on other operating systems)
Can you get your menu bar back?
Regarding #2, I'm not sure what you mean by index. Is the problem that the page lacks the normal styling (i.e., shows raw text instead of menus)?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Photoshop missing from bridge tools menu

I have upgraded from CS2 to CS3 and now cannot access Photoshop automate features via bridge as the Photoshop menu item is missing from the Bridge tools menu. I am running XP professional all programmes are up to date

All items are checked in Startup Scripts dialog, but when I click on Reveal My Startup Scripts, the folder is blank.
In /Library/Application Support/Adobe, there is no Startup Scripts CS5 folder.
I have now uninstalled CS5, used the cleaner and reinstalled it from different download files seven times, so I doubt that's the problem.
Don't know what to do next.

  • The TOOLS menu & HELP menu are missing (not the whole bar)

the TOOLS menu & HELP menu are missing (not the whole tool bar, but only these two menus), I can see File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks but not Tools and Help (on Firefox 3.6 on windows XP)

I suspect that you installed an extension that hides some menu items thru user settable preferences.
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

  • I have Windows XP. In my tools menu, optons tab the box to make Firefox my default browser is missing. How do I get it back? Thank you.

I can't make Firefox my default browser. I have Windows XP and in the tools menu, options tab that selection is missing

Tools > Options >> '''Advanced''' -> General = at the bottom under System Defaults
BTW, the Firefox 3.5.x versions are supported any longer, you should upgrade to at least 3.6.20 or 6.0. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

  • Tools menu is missing items I am expecting after I install extensions and other oddities

In the process of installing and customizing Firefox 3..6.4 on a new laptop, I noticed that when I expand the Tools menu, I do not see items for a number of the extensions I installed, which I see in Firefox on my old system.
For example, I installed the "PDF Download" extension and did not see a selection for "PDF Download - Options" in the Tools menu. I installed quite a number of extensions and in summary, the Tools Menu never changed one bit.
A different example. After I installed the Launchy extension. I went to customize my tool bar but the button for Launchy was not available to add to my toolbar.
Yet another example of strangeness was after I installed IE Tab. When I right-clicked on a link the "Open link in IE Tab" did not show up in the menu..
I tried doing a clean uninstall of Firefox following instructions from several websites and then reinstalling Firefox. Regardless of what I did, I was unable to see the expected items in the Tools menu after installing my selected extensions.
Things start to get weird. I performed a clean uninstall of Firefox 3.6.4 and downloaded and installed Firefox 3.5.10 and proceeded to install all of the extensions I had installed on my other system. Most of the items I was expecting to see in the Tool menu were there, BUT there were several lines that were blank which did not do anything when I selected them.
I was able to determine that they were related to the AdBlock Plus, downthemall! and fireftp extensions. Once I uninstalled them, the empty lines in the menu disappeared. I tried reinstalling them one by one to see if any of them would appear correctly in the menu, but adblock plus and downthemall did not. I left FireFTP installed and left adblock plus and downthemall! uninstalled.
I then upgraded from 3.5.10 to 3.6.4 to see if all of the Tools menu items would remain. They did remain.... I then tried to install adblock plus and downthemall! but there was no change to the Tools menu, considering that in Firefox 3.5.10 I was getting empty lines in the tools menu for where I should see "Adblock Plus Preferences" and "DownThemAll! Tools".
Not sure what is going on here, but something odd is definitely going on here. I have not tried to install any other extensions, but my gut instinct is that I will see more issues when I install new extensions.

I had a similar problem and could not get FireFTP to show in the Tools menu and did as someone else suggested (amongst other things), I 'Disabled' the ZoneAlarm Toolbar through 'Add-ons' on the Tools menu and presto FireFTP appeared on the Tools menu after restart. Good luck

  • Tools menu missing in FF4 action menu

There is no Tools menu in the new FF4 dropdown menu (action tab).
Since most add ons can be only accessed through tools menu, this new cool dropdown menu is useless.

    '''{ Ctrl + Shft + A }''' opens the Add-ons Manager tab.
You can access the Tools menu by hitting the '''Alt''' to temporarily display the old Menu Bar, then hit the '''T''' key to open '''Tools'''. The other Menu Bar items can be opened by hitting the appropriate '''''"hotkey"''''' - like '''''F''''' for '''''File'''''.

  • Missing "clear cahe" button in Tools menu. How to fix this?

In the Tools menu, I have only "Clear Recent History" button, but there is no "Clear Cache" button, so I cant delete temporary internet files.

You can click the Details button in Tools > [[Clear Recent History]] to see all settings.
