Tools not working in Photoshop Elements 8

I just got PSE 8 and I've been playing around with it. I've noticed that occasionally, when I open a picture to edit and try toselect a tool from the left side, the tool graphic tself presses, but my cursor is just the little clenched hand and the tool doesn't preform its action. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it?

First of all be sure your space bar isn't stuck. Secondly, if you have a flash window open, you may need to close it to get rid of the hand (this happens a lot when people have a tutorial open in the background).

Moving Tool not working in Photoshop Elements 12 in Yosemite

Hello, my moving tool for Photoshop 12 in Yosemite is not working. When I drag an object in the layer, it keeps snapping back to the center. I've tried closing other programs, rebooting, different files, made a new file, made new layers, nothing.
The only thing that works to free up the moving tool is using Command T. I see the bar with align center etc. which works but it won't let me free move the position with the move tool.
Is this a glitch? Is something configured wrong? Any advice would be appreciated.

We sincerely apologize for the problem customers are facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).
We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).
In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:
1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad
2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem
Plug-in installation instructions:
1. Close Photoshop Elements
2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)
3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:
• For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
• For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".
Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.
If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.

Spacebar shortcut for hand tool not working in Photoshop CC - have tried closing all other programs

The spacebar shortcut for hand tool is not working in Photoshop CC - as suggested in this form & others I have tried closing all other programs with no result. I have also reset photoshop to default settings & this did not make any difference either.

There may be a software conflict. I went through this today. When I did a search in Adobe foruns actually found tha answer on the Illustrator forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1027227?
What the problem for me was an app called - 1Password. I had opened it, but not given my password to login and it was on in the background. As soon as I quit 1Password, the spacebar Hand Tool worked.
Then I opened 1Password again, and logged in. This time the spacebar works.
Others mentioned conflict with Spotify. And Chrome too. Couple other things. Read that thread in the link above.

When using Card Reader, the automatic downloader is not working in Photoshop Elements 8

I have Windows Vista and just upgraded to Photoshop Elements 8.0. The Elements program is not automatically launching when I insert a CF card in my PC. The settings I have for the camera or card reader is 1) Begin download -immediately 2) Shot date 3)Delete Options - After copying, Verify and Delete Originals. When I was using Photoshop Elements 6.0 and inserted a memory card in the PC, the elements program would automatically launch and after photos were transferred, it would ask if you wanted to delete photos from the card reader.
I tried changing the settings from the Download options from Generic Device - show APD Dialog (Standard) to the Automatic Download option but that didn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the automatic downloader work and bring up the option to delete from the card reader? If not, I will have to uninstall Elements 8 and go back to Elements 6.0

Why does my Wacom Bamboo Capture not work in Photoshop Elements 10?

Text tool not working in photoshop (and illustrator)

The text tool is not working in my CS5.5 photoshop (nor illustrator).    Box appears, can't see the type while typing.   Layer descriptor shows the text but the text does not show in the workspace.   Read several forum comments.   Deleted preferences, reset character and paragraph pallets.   Font size is adequate, have tried several different colors.     PLEASE HELP.

Since I obviously do not have your technical skill, please forgive my lack of knowledge related to information you may need.   I will try to answer here, but if you need additional information, please simply ask so that I can give you enough 'sensible' information.
System specs: Dell Alienware Quad Processor with max RAM (I process digital videos.) Windows 7 Operating System, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5
Language: English
Preferences: All were deleted per recommendation of Adobe Community Thread
Character & Paragraph Pallets:   Both were re-set to Adobe defaults per Adobe Community Thread
Font:   Calibri Regular, 14 point with 18 point row height.   AV horizontal and vertical are both 0. Text horizontal and vertical scale are both 100%. Baseline shift is 0. Text color is black (on transparent)
I have tried numerous fonts, font sizes and font colors.   Nothing shows up, but I know the text is there because of the layer label name.
Can you help?   If not, how to I reach Adobe technical support?

Help does not work in photoshop elements 12, WHY??

I just installed photoshop elements 12, none of the selections under HELP will work, I keep getting a message that “there was an error launching the default browser and to reinstall elements. I have done this 3 times and installed updates, HELP still does not work. I called customer support and was told I would have to pay to get support with defective software???? How do I get the help functions to work? John Borden

Perhaps the problem is with your browser. If this is a windows machine, maybe you have changed the default browser to FireFox, Chrome or something else and maybe you have modified the browser with add-ons, etc. If so, what I would do is load Internet Explorer and update it; then I would go into the browser's settings and mark is as the default browser. Close it and reboot the machine. Then try the Help file links again and see what happens. If this doesn't work, I don't know what else to suggest, at the moment. My default browser is FireFox and it works OK with PSE 12, but what works on one computer doesn't necessarily mean it will work on another. Good luck.

Some functionality of the move tool stopped working after Photoshop Elements 12.1 update

After updating to Photoshop Elements 12.1, the move tool can not be used to drag and drop one photo onto another (when more than one photo file is opened). Please advise.

This is a new bug with the 12.1 update. If you are in 'Tabs' view then dragging from one tab to another does not shift the image focus so you can never drop. A bug report for it has been created at http://feedback.photoshop.com.
Workaround is to switch to tiled view (Window> Images> Tile in Expert view) and tile your images side-by-side then you can drag and drop.

Why do downloaded fonts not work in photoshop elements 10 but work fine in other applications?

Having trouble with downloaded fonts in adobe photoshop elements 10. Can anyone suggest how to fix this problem? The font does not show detail (all filled in black) in elements but is perfectly fine in other applications on my mac.

PSE simply uses the system fonts. Have you installed the font in the default location?
Are you using a small font size on a large resolution image?

Editor not working in Photoshop Elements

In April I purchased Photoshop Elements after having it as a trial. The editor part has now stopped working,When trying to upload image to editor, box pops up with trial version, when I cancel this it just stays in organiser. I notice that the editor icon has also gone from my desktop?

Operating system? and how are you opening it? From a shortcut, from the welcome screen, from the organizer, from the program/application file itself?
