Tools Panel Flyout menu automatically opens

Hi, guys. I'm sorry if this has already been answered (I searched (the forum and the Internet), checked the stickies, and looked through this forum.) I found a solution for Windows but not for Mac.
I'm using Photoshop CS4 Extended on a 2010 MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.6.4 and when I click (left click on mouse or physical click on trackpad) any of the tools on the (left) tool bar the hidden tools/flyout menu automatically opens, then I have to select the tool from the menu or click to close it before continuing my work. However, if I single finger tap (not click), it works as I expect (no flyout menu). Is there a way that I can fix this so that when I click (left click on mouse or physical click on trackpad) on a tool, the tool selects and the flyout menu doesn't open until you hold down the mouse/trackpad physical button. (The way it should be/originally was)
Ex.
Now: Click the Lasso tool > lasso menu opens (lasso, polygonal, magnetic) > select lasso > work
Was/What I'd like: Click the Lasso tool > default lasso becomes selected > begin work

How is slower dragging an improvement? What do we need to do to not make our workflow slower, or at least as fast as it was 10 years ago? Or are we looking at slower processes for the other tools, too, and will it soon take us a minute to draw a circle?

How to Keep Custom Brushes in the Brush Panel Flyout Menu?

So I have a set of brushes that I mostly commonly use. However, I still use other brushes on occasion. When I load those brushes, my custom brush set doesn't stay in the flyout menu and I have no choice but to find the brush file and reload it. Every time.
It's getting to be a pain in the butt, so I'm wondering if there is a way to permanently keep your custom brush set in the flyout menu of the brush panel I've attached a screen shot in case what I wanted wasn't quite clear! I want my custom brushes to go where the green area is point.
Also I'm running a Japanese version of PS, but I'm pretty sure almost all the menu places remain the same. I translated some of the menu (although it might not be the exact same as the US CS6, but if you give me instructions, I'm pretty sure I can figure it out!)

Looks like you using mac os x?
There are two places you can put your brush presets file:
1. /Macintosh HD /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets/Brushes
2. /Users/User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Presets/Brushes
The difference is that the ones in the cs6 application folder show in your red area and the ones in the library show up below the red area with a separator line

Is there a way to create a button on the front panel that would automatically open the txt file data is being stored to?

I am saving data read from FieldPoint to a .txt file. Is there a way to create a button on the front panel so that when the user pushes this button it automatically opens the .txt folder in notepad? I want to bypass the user having to find the file in the computer in order to open it.

The Sysexec will allow you to execute a dos command. This is the equivalent of going to
Start>>>Run
What you should do is find the proper DOS command sysntax that is required to open a text file in notepad or your favorite editor. Once you know what a good DOS command is, you should pass that string to the Sysexec.VI. The Sysexec has an input that allows you to choose if the code waits for the command to complete or if it should just start the program and let it run in the background. On start-up, PS CS6 Ex opens a new file menu automatically without be prompted to do so. Huh?

Whenever PS CS6 Ex is opened, a new file menu automatically opens without be prompted to do so. This happens whether I'm opening any type of file in PS or just opening PS without a file yet. Once PS is open, this does not reoccur when opening more files from then on, just at start-up only. It's not too big of a deal, just kinda weird.
PS just started doing this a short time ago so I'm guessing it's a Preference setting but can't figure which one.

Thanks for trying but this did not help. I assume you meant for me to open PS CS6 / Window / Workspace & select a new workspace such as Photography or 3D, etc. Then re-open PS & change Preferences / General / Reset all warning dialogue. None of that changed anything.
Below is what happens when I open PS 64-bit; the New file dialog opens. This happens when open PS with a pre-selected file or just launching PS. I also have PS CS6 32-bit on my PC & this does NOT occur when it is launched.

Spry Vertical Navigation menu with secondary flyout menu not showing

I'm using Windows and CS3. I have a vertical spry menu with one of the items opening to a secondary vertical menu. The menu is positioned left and I want the flyout menu to open so it can be seen on top of the central content column. I have a background color on the central div and when I hover over the item on the menu bar, you can't see the secondary menu opening. But I know it is there as I have removed the central div and when previewed in the browser (IE) it works fine. But when I replace the central div, the secondary menu is hidden again. I don't want to play around too much as I know Javascript is involved and I can easily ruin those elements which are now working. I hope someone can suggest something reasonably straight forward to assist.

The code that you have shown us re SpryMenuBarVertical.css is correct so that we can assume that the problem lies elsewhere.
Because you have not shown the rest of the code, we can only make assumptions which may or may not help. From the above screen shot, I see that you are using AP's (Absolute Positioned) elements. This is a NO NO!!!
Have a look at the following wich achieves the same, but without AP's. Just copy and paste in a new document and view in any browser.

Single clicking tool in tool panel, drop-down opens, supposed to be on hover/doubleclick

Okay, so I reinstalled windows along with photoshop cs5 extended x64, and now, when ever I click on any item in the tool panel, the drop-down menu pops out, and its extremely annoying.
It never used to do this, I had to like either click & hold or double click or something.
I just want to be able to use the tools without having to be bothered by the drop down menu.
That's what happens now after single clicking on any of the tools with the arrow in the lower right corners.
Please help, it is extremely frustrating!

You're saying the alternate tools selection opens immediately? I have to click and hold for about 1/2 second for the alternate tools selector to open up.
How is your double click speed set (control panel, mouse)?
Does choosing Window - Tool Presets from the main menu, then using the Panel menu and choosing Reset Tools help?

How to automatically open and close collapsable spry panels?

I designed a collapsable spry panel in DW to open and close automatically, with a 10 sec delay, unless person clicks on tab to close immediately.
The spry panel opens automatically, but will only close if i click the tab.
Is there a way for the collapsable spry panels to close automatically?

I feel certain the answer I need is in the reply you posted here, but I need a little more help to know exactly what to do. I am using a collapsible panel to show and hide a series of onload panoramic photos near the top of my page. What I want is for the collapsible panel to be open on some pages and closed on others and I want the animation of the panel closing to be seen too. I'm thinking this should be achievable with some sort of onload trigger or something. Currently I've gotten close to what I want by referencing two different .js files (one for the "open" panel state and another for the "closed" panel state), but this doesn't show the graceful animation of the panel closing. Illustrator CS6 bucket tool has disappeared -- there is no flyout menu on the gradient tool

This happened suddenly. I've closed and restarted Illustrator several times. Still no paint bucket tool / flyout menu on gradient tool. Any advice?

Try the Shape Builder tool. Click and hold until the options appear.

Mobile flyout menu opens from the wrong side (left to right)

InDesign 5.0 tools/panels not activated with mouseover/mouseclick

The following summarizes the hardware, software, procedures and results in my attempt to resolve issues with InDesign 5.0. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Procedure:
The computer system control panel > program uninstall was used to clear all Adobe products except Acrobat, AIR, Flash Player and Media Player. The Adobe CS5 Cleaner Tool for Windows was installed and run at Clean All to remove all products and installer-related files for the Creative Suite 5.0.
The Creative Suite 5.0 was re-installed on the HP cpu using the registered program discs.
The Adobe 7_0_4 InDesign Patch-All was downloaded from Adobe and installed.
Result:
Tools Panel: Selection Tool and Direct Selection Tool will not highlight with mouseover nor activate with mouseclick.
Layers Panel: Can't click-on Layer Name to activate that Layer; individual Layer Names can't be double-clicked to rename; visability can't be toggled with mouseclick; the Create New Layer icon at bottom of panel can't be activated with a mouseclick; a New Layer can be created from the Panel upper dropdown menu; Panels location can be moved, panels opened/closed, and collapsed with mouseclick.
Character Panel: None of the Character styling dropdowns within the panel can be activated; Character styling options can be activated from the upper right panel options triangle dropdown, and they can be activated from the Application Bar: Type > Font and Type > Size. In the Type > Font flyout panel displaying all fonts, the mouse wheel will not scroll through the fonts.
Paragraph Panel: Can't click on paragraph alignment option icons.
Links Panel: In Pre-flight, can't activate link list item with mouseclick.
Stroke/Color/Swatch Panels: Can't activate any tools within these panels with mouse.

Disable iTunes from automatically opening when iPhone is connected

Hi, I use a windows xp comp with itunes for windows at work and whenever I just want to charge my iphone, itunes always automatically opens. I've disabled automatic syncing in edit>pref but the iPhone summary screen doesn't allow disabling "automatically open itunes when this iphone is detected" like itunes for my macbook at home has. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's such a pain to have itunes open and load everytime i'm just charging my iphone at work.

Try this:
Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Look for "Apple Mobile Device", right-click and "stop", then right-click "properties". Under "Startup type" choose "Disabled".
Do the reverse if you want it to work again.

Windows (tool) panels are not showing.

Windows (tool) panels are not showing, or letting me use most of the tool features. e.g. when I klick windows>align but no align window shows up, even though it is ticked in the 'Windows' drop down menu. This is the second time this has happened since subscribing. Help!

It may be time for the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

LOST TOOLS PANEL in Illustrator CS3 for Mac !

I recently installed Adobe CS3 for Mac on an iMac G5 OS X 10.4.11. Photoshop works great with no problems. However in Illustrator I cannot get my Tools Panel to appear. My "WINDOW" pull down menu in Illustrator only has the following options: "New Window", "Minimize Window", "Bring All to Front", "Attributes", "Info" and "Type". The "VIEW" pull down menu has many options but none seem to open up the Tools panel. None of my Drawing Tools, Shape Tools, Cutting Tools, Moving Tools etc are visible!
I have uninstalled and then re-installed CS3 to no avail. I have tried to reset the Adobe software preferences by simultaneously holding down "Command+Option+Shift+Control" during Illustrator launch, a tip I found online but it also failed to work.

This is what i think is wrong.
i think though you have installed AI three times you have also made an alias of the applications icon, or what you thin is an alias.
But what you probably have done is to make a copy of the application outside of the application folder.
If in fact you do think that you are launching fro an alias trash the alias and not and make a new one by holding down the command and option key as you drag the icon. What you probably did was only hold the option key down which made a copy of the application outside the application folder which could prevent these features from loading.
Now I have also heard there is a software conflict that can cause this but I admit I do not recall what that is.

Database won't automatically open in win2000

When we boot up numerous windows 2000 machines the database starts fine through the services menu BUT it doesn't automatically open as it did with windowsNT. This is for 8.1.7 and 8.1.6.

Typically this issue is resolved by synchronizing your Windows service with your database instance. The bottomline is that some how they are no longer synchronized either because the internal password has been changed or any other parameter in the service configuration is no longer matching your instance. A simple way to fix this problem is by using the oradim utility. With Windows 2000, I normally recommend to rather write a batch file containing startup commands to startup the database a leave the service as manual. Windows 2000 provides the capability to created a schedule task from the Settings->control panel->Scheduled Task-> Add Scheduled Task-> and then choosing Startup and highlighing the batch file.
The batch file should contain commands such as
net start OracleServiceORCL (for each Oracle service to be started in the appropriate order)
However, if your choose to use an automatic startup for your service, I recommend that you refer to the oradim utility or simply type oradim at the NT/2000 prompt for help.
The either edit or delete/add (new) the service to get it conveniently configured.
This should suffice to fix your problem.
A more comprehensive case, i.e., another reason why you may be having some trouble is the authentication strategy. It is not the same to have OS_LEVEL_AUTHENTICATION as password-based authentication. Eventually, even some changes in the DNS configuration, as directed by the Domain Controller can actually affect your startup processes, once you choose either one of these configurations. If you are using OS_LEVEL_AUTHENTICATION your DNS must be configured according and driven by a DC. If you are using a password file, please refer to the ORAPWD utility. If you have switched from one authentication to the other, this is also a possible reason.

Disabling Fill & Sign from automatically opening

According to the 11.0.09 updates, Reader will automatically open the Fill & Sign pane when fields are present. I do not like this new default feature and have not found an easy option for disabling.
From the update page, it looks like I should be able to edit my registry to completely disable that pane from the user interface. While completely disabling is not ideal, I find it better to the alternative of always having it pop up.
However, when navigating to the following registry path:
HKLM’s cServices\bEnableSignPane set to 0 removes the Fill & Sign Pane from the user interface. (full path being HKLM\Software\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown\)
I do not see a cServices folder. I've run a search on my entire registry and cannot find where this folder nor its key is held. The only subfolders all begin with cDefault...
How can I disable this setting? And is there a plan to give the end user the option to disable this pane from automatically popping up in the future?

Hi;
Tuning Acrobat/Reader is really designed for an IT department and not manually by an end user. The key needs to be created and then the machine restarted to take effect. Here is an article on preferences for IT departments which gives more information on complete registry/plist paths: 5 Preference Basics — Enterprise Administration Guide
I tried it out and it worked fine, on my machine however the FeatureLockDown was in the 32bit location even though it is a 64bit machine...
Just a note, the "Fill & Sign" panel in Adobe Reader XI is not the same as the online service "Adobe Fill & Sign", it is the name of the Tools panel in Adobe Reader for filling and signing forms.
