Top 25 playlists etc gone..
My itunes just stopped working...i got my songs back but now i dont have any top 25 playlists or music videos etc...does anyone know how i can get it back? thanks.
I can't recall all the default playlists but they are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist

You can do 50s, 60s, 70s & 80's by adjusting the range
Recently Added:
Match the rule "Date Added">"is in the last">"1">"Days" make the days and the interval to suit yourself, you can have days, weeks or months.

Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most often played"
Recently Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most recently played" make the "limit to" to suit yourself.
Top Rated:
Match the rule "My Rating">"is">"5 Stars" You can make that as many stars as you like from 1 to 5. Or you can make your rule "My Rating">"is greater than">"3 Stars" for example.
Video:
Match the rule "Video Kind">"Is">"Music Video" You can also have Movie or TV Show
For all of these also check the box "Live Updating"

My computer crashed and I had it moved over to my Sony Varo lap top, I have all sorts of problems since this has been done and when I installed the latest ITunes 11 download I thought it had solved my problems, but it hasn't! It still won't save my playlist, every time I open up my lap top my playlist has gone!

No, your iPhone i s telling you that you need iTunes 11.1 or greater on your computer in order to sync with the computer.
I've been having problems with iTunes on my PC so I re-installed it but it's been a nightmare trying to get it to work.
Then you should fix this issue with iTunes before you try to sync your iPhone to it.

Missing Playlist Information... top 25 played etc
*Can anbody help me please... i had a damaged file in my iTunes library and lost 50 albums, i deleted all my music from iTunes and then consolidated all my music on my PC back into iTunes, problem solved, my missing music returned! except that i lost all the categories in the playlist section except the playlist title, so i lost all my personal playlists as well as the top 25 played etc... i uninstalled iTunes and downloaded a new version onto my PC hoping this would solve the problem... but no it's exactly the same... Any ideas on how i can get these functions back? (not overly concerned regards the playlists).*

Hi, just upgraded my iphone 4s to ios6. all of my playlists are gone and if i create a new one, i does not appear on my phone. itunes match is activated. can someone help me?
You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

I imported files from an external hard drive to Itunes on a new computer. they imported & play fine, but the ratings & playlists are gone & i am unable to update any info. I found a file name playlist on old drive & imported now most files are missing! Help!
Can you locate the iTunes Library.itl file on the old drive? Ideally you would have simply copied over the entire iTunes folder structure from <User's Music> on the old computer into <User's Music> on the new one to transfer the library will all playlists, ratings, play counts etc. intact.

Due to lack of space on my c drive I decided to move my music folder to my d drive. After I done this I noticed all my music was gone from itunes so I decided to move the music folder back to the c drive to try fix the problem. All my music and playlists etc are still missing from itunes. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem???
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Reinstalled Operating System - transfer playlists, etc from ipod to PC?
I've recently reverted back from Vista to XP and in the process wiped out my library, playlists, etc. Thankfully all my tunes were on my external, but all the data including playlists are gone. Is there a way to transfer the playlists from my ipod to my newly installed itunes folder/library? I'd hate to lose all i've put together.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer. -

This started to happen few months ago. My "purchsed" playlist stop showing up on my iphone 4 (os6.1.2). However all my purachsed music is transfered to the phone no probelms under artist and etc, but the playlist is gone. Anyone have the same issue? I am wonedring if this has to do with too big of a playlist. Currently there are 1500 songs in the purchsed playlist on the itunes...

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and specify it. If the external drive doesn't contain the iTunes database files, create a new library there and import that music.
If the library contains any rented movies, they won't play on a different computer.

Sunday, I downloaded iTunes app on to my new PC. Songs purchased over the years were present but all of the albums I loaded from CD's are not present. How do I resore my iTunes account with all of my albums, playlists, etc.? I have not attempted to sysnch my IPod Nano with the new software.

How do I transfer my checked songs from one computer to another - tried exporting library playlist etc but no luck! Please help! I have 26,000 songs - 17,000 are selected and I can't run down the list on my new computer and re-check 17,000 songs! Thanks!
Make a smart playlist of your whole library but only checked songs - #4 on http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1801
Highlight all files in that playlist, then drag to the other drive. This isn't preserving any playlists or whatever, just copying files from one drive to another.
You might want to delete the smart playlist this once you are done because it will probably gobble up resources with that many files. -

i am trying to copy my iTunes library onto an SD card so that I can put it in my Audi A4 with the MMI. Is there any way of doing the transfer on iTunes but keeping the structure of iTunes, such as with albums, artists, playlists etc?

TomFiles are not copied to drives in a particular order. How they appear on a card depends upon how you have your computer set to display them. If I view a card with files and I have clicked the column header for "file modified date" then it will display in that order. The only time the copying of the files across to a flash drive will influence how your music appears in your player is if the player uses the file names to display the file order, with possibly some extra structure added using folders. If it reads the data inside the files then it will display them pretty much as iTunes would use them and how exactly they are displayed will depend upon how the player actually works. The other way (as I have already said) is if the player uses a special file to tell it how it should order the files on the display. When I last rented a new car it simple read the data inside the files as iTunes does and if a humble Ford Focus can do that then I suspect that is how Audi does it. If it is not doing this then maybe your files do not contain the data, or your simply have not read the special manual for the MMI that I see on Audi's website it provides to its owners and discovered how to set the view order.
Since nobody has seen to it I have been bestowed with an Audi you may have to wait for another Audi owner to answer this, or perhaps do some investigating yourself. If you type "Audi MMI A4" into a web search it will lead you to a bunch of videos on Audi's web site on how to use the MMI. My computer is old and my connection speed is slow so I absolutely hate instructional videos online and I will let you plow through them to see if any provide the information you need.
My understanding from Phil0124 statement is it is simply telling you to copy all the files in the Media folder to the card.
When I cut and paste the iTunes library onto my SD card, it put all of songs in a strange order. It had all of some number 1 from all the albums, then song 2, etc. It didn't keep them in album / artist setup. For some reason it won't copy over in the same structure.
Is this how you are seeing it when viewed on your computer, or is this how you are seeing it in the MMI? If that is how you are seeing it on the computer, forget it, or do as Phil01234 says and drag across folders from the main Media folder in the iTunes folder.
By the way, on a Mac to copy files from one drive to another you simply drag them, no copy and paste. -
