Top Rated order in iPod

Hi! I've made a "My Top Rated" Playlist on my iPod.
Now, what I can't figure out is how to "set rating on a song and make it appear at the top of my playlist without draging in iTunes".
Please help me figure this out.
Thx John

So you want to reorder a playlist, not set what is included on the playlist?
In iTunes, select the playlist. Click on the column you wan to torder on.
On the playlist name, right click - Copy to play order.
Then sync the iPod.

  • Fix for Top Rated Playlist...On the iPod?-\

    Hello-
Love the iPod....great place for all of my music...LOVE IT!
I miss a feature that was either forgotten or taken out when the update came for allowing podcasts on our iPods with Color Screens...the ability to rate songs on your iPod and then have the top rated playlist on the iPod reflect the top rated tracks. The only way this can happen is to rate the song on the iPod, sync it with iTunes or to rate the song on iTunes and then have it sent to the iPod. When on the road (which I am alot) it WAS great being able to do this on the fly.
This has been posted on other iPod enthusiasts sites as well....not bitter about it, just want that feature back. I don't consider this a new feature from the latest video ipods, this was a feature that was listed in the iPod I purchased and would very much like to see it put back in.
Any word on an update for the iPods with Color Screen? Thanks so much for your help.

I've got the same ipod as you with the same updates and i am still able to rate my songs via the ipod and then the smart playlists will update straight away. Can't think why yours isn't working but i thought i'd just let you know that it is still possible.

  • My stupid ipod won't let me put top rated into a playlist :(

So last night my mac book crashed while my ipod was plugged in and I lost all my music. I've got it all back on now (well most of it) but beforehand, if I was listening to a song on my ipod, I could rate it and if it had 4+ stars it would automatically go into a playlist called "My top rated" but now there's absolutely no playlists on my ipod (even though I've rated some of the songs on my mac) so I created a playlist, but when I go on my ipod and give something 5 stars, it won't go on to the playlist like it used to... What the **** is happening and how do I fix it? I miss being able to rate songs and have them automatically go into a playlist from my ipod

    Hi KiwiAddy!
It sounds like you had a smart playlist set up previously on your iPod. You will just need to recreate this smart playlist with the same rules as you had previously. We have an article that can help you complete this task, and it is found here:

You will also want to make sure that your iPod is updated with the latest software to ensure functionality. Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • My ipod touch no longer has my top rated playlist

I have lost the following playlist Recently played, Top 25 played, My Top rated on my ipod

Do you have the Repeat feature on? The control is on the left side of the Now Playing screen right below the scrubber bar. It is the arrowed racetrack icon. Tap to get it white.

  • I want to change the top level order of itunes playlists

This is rather odd problem.  There is a lot of information available regarding organising tracks within playlists but I want o change the top level order of the playlist themselves.
I have an ipod to car CD player adaptor that can select itunes playlists as if they were  single CDs.  The problem is that the adaptors works through the list of itune playlists in order i.e. the first "CD" is the "classical music smart playlist" followed by the other default smart playlists and then by my own playlists.  What I want is force the smart playlists to the bottom of the top level list so that the adaptor finds my playlists first.  I am considering deleting all smart playlists but I see some value in keeping them.  I think the answer is no it can't be done but I be interested to hear if anyone has some ideas on this.
N.B. I am using itunes 12.01.26 on my Macbook to manage my itunes library.

Hey guys m I got the answer for the below question.
Oracle have few Restriction and limitation on such Advanced table in sorting the data,
Few of them are as mentioned below ...
    1. Sorting is not allowed for tables that allow inserts.
    2. Sorting is not supported for tables containing updateable columns
    3. Sorting is disabled when the Select column is checked for a row in a table or when Hide/Show is present in a table.
Because of the above limitations , we cannot sort or override the existing alphabetical name sort order to Date applied sort order on the View Applicant advanced table.
You can observe that , View Applicant page is having an option called "Update Status" which allow us to update applicant’s status or rating in the Advanced table.
On such updatable advanced tables, oracle does not allow us to override the sort order on any of the table columns.
Keeping it in a nutshell , I can say it's does not allow us to change the sort order of the view applicant advanced table ( which is having updateable columns ) to sort them in Date applied instead of Name( which is default ).

  • Top rated - list most recently added first

    hi.
how do i get my 'top rated' category to list in the order of the most recently rated first. (using the ipod wheel and stars)

Not possible. The date/time it was rated is not stored anywhere.

  • Rating folder in iPod menu

is there any way i can have a rating folder in the iPod menu?
What do i have to do?

There is no built-in feature that lists songs based on ratings.
However, you can do a lot of interesting stuff using +Smart Playlists+ in iTunes, and those playlists will show up on your iPod when you sync.
So, assuming what you want is to create (and maybe sort) a list, based on the songs you have rated highest...
    In iTunes, select
menu bar -> File -> New Smart Playlist
In the Smart Playlist editing window, check +Match the following rule+ and make the rule
    Rating is *five stars*
or if you want four and five stars
Rating is in the range *four stars* to *five stars*
or if you want any song that you have rated
Rating is greater than *zero stars*
or any way you desire, so that the songs you want are selected based on ratings. If you want to do something more complex, you can add a second rule by clicking on the plus sign.
Leave the other settings as they are, unless you want to do something like limit the number of songs on the playlist.
After setting up the Smart Playlist, if you want to sort it based on ratings, so that the 5 stars are at the top (for example), make sure Ratings is one of the columns in the playlist's list view (add it if it is not one of the columns), and click the Ratings column heading to sort by ratings.
Then sync the iPod to get this playlist on your iPod. The playlist will show up under Music -> Playlists. Note: Smart Playlists just act like regular playlists on the iPod, so if you change a song's rating on the iPod, the playlist will not get updated until you sync the iPod to the computer and that rating is updated in your iTunes library.

  • MY TOP RATED

    Hi Everyone
I love the MY TOP RATED feature on the nano - however, when I go to songs and reduce the rating, they still appear on "my top rated". . . how can i take them off of here? I still want them on my ipod, just not top rated anymore
    thanks
    snowsky

I think that if you go to "MY TOP RATED," click on the song you don't want in there once, go to Edit, and click on Delete, you will be able to delete the song from that section, but it will remain in your library!
    Hope this helps!

  • HOW DO I RECOVER MY TOP RATED PLAYLIST?? PLEASE HELP

Hello guys, i dont know how my top rated playlist was deleted from my itunes, now i cant plug my ipod to sync with mu itunes because my top rated play list will be deleted,I thougt that play list was undeletable but it disapeared from my itunes.
Please help me how to get that playlist back again.
    Thanks in advance.

The iTunes Top Rated playlist was simply a Smart Playlist. You can recreate it, here are the parameters:
Open a smart playlist and put a check mark in the first box (match the following rule)
Then from the pull down menus, choose the following:
    -Rating
    -Is greater than
    -Three Stars
and then a check mark in "Live Updating"
(This is the generic iTunes version of this playlist.) Of course, you can tweak this to make it fit your parameters better. Good luck!

  • "Top Rated" playlist keeps getting replaced

After I updated my iTunes, my "top rated" playlist keeps getting replaced by random songs that I never rated on my desktop iTunes.  I suspect that I may be rating them on my iPod at the gym on accident, and when I plug in my iPod to transfer new songs, my iTunes would replace my original top rated songs with only the ones I accidently rated with my iPod.  Before the update, Whatever I rated songs on my iPod, it would not sync with my iTunes.  When I plug in my Ipod, it would simply use the list that I rated on my desktop iTunes and the playlist would not change.  I prefered it this way, but the new update, my top rated keeps getting replaced by random songs.  Is there any solution to this?  Thanks.

I am having the same problem with my Top25. I was on the phone with apple and they claim that it uses the music that is only synced with your iphone to create a top 25 play list---something that was added in 3.1 apparently. Therefore if you only have 100 songs on your iphone, your phone will create its "own" play list based on thos 100 songs, not your actual music library. However my play list is just a bunch of random songs, most of which were not on my iphone. I explained this to apple, but they swore thos songs had to be on my iphone some where...glad to see i'm not the only one having this problem.

  • Top Rated Playlist

If I rate a song 5 stars on iPod, will the song be automatically added to the top rated playlist? I'm so disappointed with the playlist function on iPod, it's very weak & heavily dependent on iTunes. I had a Sony mp3 player before, which allowed me to create/delete a playlist or add/remove songs to a playlist directly on the device, however you know iPod can't do that...

Thanks for the info, Chris. I tried out the Top Rated playlist and it does work as you said, however strangely other default smart playlists like Recently Played or Most Played doesn't. I'm confused by that and also aware of a few users on this board that are experiencing the same problem too.
Speaking of the second question, probably you mean I should use the on-the-go playlist to create my own playlist, but the solution is kind of tricky, at least inconvenient, because I still can't add/remove a song to the playlist created by on-the-go. I can only accomplish the goal by adding the whole playlist as well as the new songs to a new playlist.
One more thing, why the song doesn't blink after my holding the central button, what I got is a menu with the option to add the song to on-the-go. I really don't want to go through the process each time adding a song. Please help, thank you!

  • Lost top rated and playlists while trying to sync

somehow when i reloaded my library, all my top rated songs were gone. they were still on my pod. and i tried to sync (as per other posts) my top rated but it ended up taking them OFF my pod!!!! i had about 700 songs rated. It took a long time. now all i have is a couple of previous itunes library files which i'm hoping i can use to restore some of the ratings.
anyone know how to do this?
also is there a better player that actually syncs correctly (ie checking for duplicates ratings in itunes and ipod and then filling in the gaps so that it is the same for both itunes and ipod)
This is a very weak point of itunes. I need a program that can sync one playlist like my top rated and also let me manage manually.
    Thanks.

There are never any contacts or photos in itunes.  Itunes is for music/movies/books.
You should have been syncing contacts to your computer regularly (Outlook for example) and you should have been importing photos taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
If you have failed to do this, then all is likely gone.
You can try restoring from backup.

  • My Top Rated will not transfer

On the 'My Top Rated' playlist I have songs that are starred.
On Devices My Ipod 'My Top Rated' playlist the same songs are there but dont have stars. When I try to access the songs from that playlist on my Ipod there is nothing there.
Is this a bug? How do you get it to show on your Ipod and not just Itunes?

If you are manually managing your music the ratings will not move to the iPod.
