Top Urgent - ESS in SAP HR

I am functional SAP HR and have to do an implementation in ESS. Have gone thru config nodes in IMG and know the concept of services, catalog and menus. What else is expected from functional? Also, dont know anything about iViews, is it functional or technical? how to make iView, any 'How to' guide available with anyone???
pls send me any config document or 'how to' guide for functional part of ESS and iView. Points will be awarded. Pls help.

2. There is a function module to retieve the employee photo in URI.
you can use that URI in your Iview.

we can Use T-code LPD_CUST & PFCG based on the scenarios, you can use SAP_ESS_EMPLOYEE_WDA_2 Composite Role from PFCG.
Having EP is a benefit for using WDA & WDJ services, but if you go for NWBC you only have a provision to use WDA. if you are in EHP 5 then few services are still in Java & its not suggested much to use NWBC. For NWBC we don't need to buy any licenses as it comes by default. only thing we need to do is to activate the appropriate Business Functions.

First Let me know the Source & Tools to involve.
Let me go with the generic approach:
If the source is BW, then you can create the logic in query designer designer and then you can incorporate the data into the dashboard or webi or crystal report whatever its.
If the source is sql or anyother DB then it can also be achievable in crystal or webi to write the logic in top 10 values by ranking then you can incorporate the data into the dashboard, but here you can limit the top or bottom values.

Urgent help on SAP BW3.5 GST Query Changes

Dear Experts,
Need your urgent help in modifying a query.
Requirement: The Query has two different hierarchy node structures in 1 hierarchy itself.
This hierarchy is used in report where we can now see 2 different node structures added, for which the calculation of Rate is different for one node and different for another.
Rate = Tax/ GST Val * 100 for first node
Rate = (GST Val /(GST Gross - GST Val)) * 100 for another node.
The differentiating factor for these two nodes is Tax Code which is a char value.
This rate value couldnt been calculated at Report level for the reason being that all others the Key figures except Tax Code which is a char and hence couldnt put any formula there.
We tried calculating the Rate at Cube lebel itself by creating another Key figure and written a 'field level routine' to it, it is working good and showing the right values at cube level, where the data is stored at Line item level.
Now the challenge is that in report, as we execute them at aggregated levels the value for Rate is being cumulated (added) and shown which is wrong.
Eg:                 Account LineItemNo Input Tax Credit                            GST   GST Rate
     123     1     10              10     100
     123     2     20              20     100
In Report when we look at these figures it appears at say Account level then it is appearing as :
Account   Input Tax Credit GST   GST Rate
123     30        30      200 (Instead of 100 as expected).
Can anyone help us to resolve this, this is of top most priority to us.
We are not using any WAD and system is BW 3.5.
Please suggest if WAD can help us in this.

Thanks for your instant reponse, appreciate it.
But as this is BW3.5 system, the option for Exception Aggregation selection as "no aggregation along the hierarchy" is not available in dropdown.
But there is one option as 'No aggregation (X, if more than one record occurs)' below which there is an option to chose the Agg.ref.char on which this aggregation should be checked.
Can I use this option and select ' Account Number' as the Agg.ref.char to solve my problem?
or you have any other solution, please suggest.

ESS with SAP ERP 2004 ECC 5.0

Hello,
with SAP R/3 we used the Employee Self Services via an external ITS. Now we are using SAP ERP 2004 ECC 5.0 with an installed Java AddIn without Enterprise Portal.
My Question is:
What ways are possible, so that we can use the ESS functionality?
My Ideas are:
1. Use the old external ITS and connect it to the new system.
Problem: Is the connection possible?
or
2. Use the existing services from the internal ITS.
Problem: It seems that some are not working - is it possible to activate them?
or
3. Use the WebDynpro-Technology without Enterprise Portal.
Problem: Will it work?
All information I could find, is, that none of the mentioned ways will work, but maybe someone tried to do the same and was successful.

Hello Andre,
I don't have experience with using ESS web dynpro applications standalone without EP but I believe that should work just fine. We use standalone web dynpro applications for our mobile ISR/PCR approvals where we access web dynpro application directly via Blackberry. You should be able to access any web dynpro application directly without EP iView - for certain services you will need to provide the correct attributes and values via URL though.

Must all SAP MSS, SAP ESS and SAP PCUI_GP be of the same SP level?

in order to fix an error in XSS we need to upgrade SAP PCUI_GP to SP 10. Is it therefore necessary to upgrade also the rest of the components building XSS (SAP MSS and SAP ESS) also to SP 10 or can they stay on SP 9 as they are now? Is there an official SAP document answering my question?

the MSS and ESS should work independently, but both require PCUI_GP as a base-component, so these versions should be equal.
you can try to use different SP-levels, but this is not supported & what's the problem to keep them on the same level?
depending on the changes on each SP-level (e.g. if there are only country-specific changes for countries you don't need or text-corrections, check the notes for the SP-levels) you can risk it...
