Topic not displayed

Dear all,
We have a problem with one of our RH projects. As we generate
the printed documentation, not all information is added to the
output. Although the correct tags are added to the topic and output
settings and the topic is added to the TOC, the topic is not
included in the output.
The problem is solved after we remove the topic from the TOC
and add it again. However, as soon as we regenerate the printed
documentation, the same problem occurs.
Can you help us out?
Thanks!
Liesbet

Hello Peter,
Thank you for your message.
That is indeed the strange thing. If we remove the folder or
topic and add it again, the topic is indeed added to the output.
But next time we generate, another topic might not be there. Each
time that we have generated the output we now need to manually
check if all topics are actually there...
Hope this makes it more clear...
Thanks,
Liesbet

  • RH Window not updating / topics not displaying after repositioning

    Hi,
    I'm running RH8.0.2 on a 32-bit version of Windows 7. In the last few days I've had peculiar problems with the RH Window itself (not compiled help) not refreshing properly.
    For example, I want to compare a Word document to a help topic, so I resize the RH window and position it next to the Word document. I open several topics and do what I need to do. Now I'm done with the Word document, so I maximize the RH window again. This is when the problems start:
    The navigation along the top (including the topic tabs) does not refresh.
    If I double-click a topic in the left pane, it is sometimes not displayed on the right side, although the cursor movements indicate that RH thinks the topic is displayed. (This is hard to explain, and crazily enough I can't even get a screenshot of this to show what I mean.)
    If I reduce the window size back to its previous, smaller size, things look normal again and I can see the topic I just double-clicked. But if I want to use RH in a maximized window again, I have to close and reopen the RH project.
    Yes, these problems can be dealt with. But this has been going on for several days now (after a Windows update, perhaps?) and it's getting annoying.
    Is anybody else experiencing these problems? Is there a solution?
    Thanks
    Eileen

    Thank you for those suggestions, Peter!
    You were right - I was dragging the two windows to where I wanted them.
    I haven't yet tested your suggstions extensively (I don't spend a lot of time with RH side by side by side with other applications). However, I haven't seen the problem since I started using Windows key + arrows to position the windows.
    BTW, RH is the only application where I was having this problem.
    I will post again (or edit this post) if I come up with any new information. Even if no one else has posted about this problem, I'm betting that others are experiencing it. As I said, it's relatively easy to work around. Just annoying.
    Thanks again!

  • UPK preview topic not displaying after being published

    After preview topic loads, it will not display. We have already disabled popup blocker. Any help would be appreciated..

    Hello,
    Please log a support ticket using My Oracle Support (http://support.oracle.com/). They will be able to assist you.
    In the meantime, I would suggest publishing to the Player style to test the content and to see if you have similar problems launching content. If you have similar problems, it might be a bit easier to see what's happening since you can keep trying to open the content without going through the preview.

  • Topics not displayed in HTML Help after importing bilingual (Eng, Simp Chinese) word doc

    Hi all:
    I imported a bilingual (English, Simplified Chinese) word
    document (Windows XP) into Robohelp and split topics based on
    Headings. This was successful and I could see both English and
    Chinese characters in the topic sections.
    When I generated HTML Help and reviewed the output, the TOC
    was displayed properly, but the topics could not be found for all
    topics in the TOC.
    I had installed the language packages in Windows XP.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    I wonder if this is nothing to do with language but because
    you are viewing the CHM across a network.
    If that is the case, see this article.

  • Robohelp 8: Child Project topics not displaying in the topic pane

    Hi All:
    I am working on a Robohelp 8 merged help with four child projects. The child project I added last (which appears as Child 2 on the ToC) displays fine in the ToC pane. However, none of the Child 2 topics display in the Topics pane.
    When I investigated, I found that Child 2 had a few broken links. I fixed them but this has made no difference.
    I have cleared the MergedHelp folder and recompiled a few times, but w/o any change. Child 1, 3 and 4 topics display in the topics pane, but not Child 2 topics.
    Would appreciate any pointers.
    Regards,
    Sophie

    Try deleting the child from the TOC and readding it. If that does not work, can you post an image of what you are seeing. You can do so via the camera toolbar icon.

  • F1 Help Topic Not Displaying

    We provide F1 help for almost every field in our application.
    I converted our Winhelp project into .CHM file and used the .hh
    file provided by the developer. The .chm file compiles just fine.
    But the developer states that the F1 help does not show up for
    certain fields.
    Here is an example situation:
    The .hh file contains:
    IDH_BYR1NAM1
    IDH_BYR1NAM2
    The content for both help topics is identical, therefore
    instead of creating 2 help topics, the .ali file contains the
    following;
    IDH_BYR1NAM1=html\IDH_BYR1NAM1.htm
    IDH_BYR1NAM2=html\IDH_BYR1NAM1.htm
    When we press F1 in the BYR1NAM2 field, the help topic for
    BYR1NAM1 should show up but it doesn't. No help topic displays.
    In the Map Id report I generated, the following was noted:
    DH_BYR1NAM1
    Map #: #80
    Map file: C:\ENTERPRISE\HELP FIXES\PROFORM F1
    HELP\HTMLHelp\pfsymtab.hh
    Topic: html\IDH_BYR1NAM1.htm
    (Map ID)
    IDH_BYR1NAM2
    Map #: #81
    Map file: C:\ENTERPRISE\HELP FIXES\PROFORM F1
    HELP\HTMLHelp\pfsymtab.hh
    Topic: html\IDH_BYR1NAM1.htm
    (Map ID)
    I would greatly appreciate if someone can provide clues as to
    why this is happening. Thanks in advance for your help!

    in the report text, is this just a cut and paste error, or an
    actual typo?
    DH_BYR1NAM1 - should it be IDH_BYR1NAM1?
    also - is ENTERPRISE a (gulp) NETWORK drive or your local
    hard drive?

  • Why is first topic not displaying in merged help?

    I created a merged help system in RH 9, following Peter Grainge's "Merging WebHelp - RoboHelp 8" steps.  When I open the default (index) file in the parent, the first topic doesn't display and I get this error in the topic frame:
    Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.
    I can click on any topic from the TOC frame and it will display properly.
    I did follow Step 8 (Forcing the TOC to synchronise) and made the change to the whthost.js file in the generated output folder for both the parent and the child.
    I also tried to search this forum before asking this question, using google as directed since the forum search is broken. But I wasn't able to find anything relevant.
    Thanks for your help.
    Jenny

    When that happens it is almost certainly because the path to the redirect is not right. Check that the relative path is correct and that the target file is where it should be.

  • Topics not displayed in RoboHelp 10

    Hello,
    I was happily working in RoboHelp 10 earlier today but when I had to log out and log in again, all topics from the HTML Files folder in Project Manager were gone, and the folder has a question mark on top of it.
    My manager is also experiencing the same problem. We have both rebooted our machines and have logged in and out of RH several times but to no avail.
    The topics are still in Windows Explorer though.
    It feels like there is a problem with the .cpd file but we don't know what it is. Or maybe something simpler of which we are unaware.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks.

    You cannot both work on the same project at the same time. One, then the other is OK.
    Source control would have the topics on a server and when you and your manager want to work on it at the same time, that is OK, other than working on the same topic at the same time. You would open your local copy and check the required topic out of source control. Your manager could do the same and the source control should alert you if you both try to work on the same topic simultaneously.
    There is a separate forum category where you can find out more. You may need assistance from a developer to get it set up.

  • RH 9 - WebHelp Topics Not Displaying

    It's my first time compileing a WebHelp project, as I'm using the RH 9 trial, and I imported my FrameMaker files, used my FM TOC, and after compiling the project and attempt to view it, it's blank. The files are on my local drive so I know that is not the issue.
    Any other ideas?

    What happens if you generate another output type (e.g. CHM). If that works, can you post a picture of what you DO see in your WebHelp output. You can do so by using the icon.

  • Firefox Does Not Display Topics When Using "#" in the URL

    I'm currently having a problem with Firefox not opening
    context-sensitive help links using URLs, rather than map IDs. For
    example, if the URL is
    http://www.myhelp.com/index.htm#custom_topic.htm,
    Firefox will load the page as expected (except it appears to
    continue loading the page, which is another issue that is discussed
    in another forum), but either immediately loads the parent topic
    (if the requested topic is a subtopic in a book) or displays a
    "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error. It's peculiar in that the correct
    topic loads (the one after the octothorpe), but Firefox (or
    WebHelp--I'm not sure who's to blame here) then goes to the parent
    topic or displays the error. Any guesses?

    I agree with Peter's obervation about test projects.
    Let me suggest some patches. They may cure the
    load-topic/reload-default-topic misbehavior.
    In the output file whtbar.js look for this line:
    else
    if(sType=="hide2"&&(!gbNav4)&&(!gbOpera))
    It occurs only once. Change it to
    else if(sType=="hide2"&&(!gbOpera))
    In the same output file, near the end, look for
    function tryReload()
    if (gnRE==1)
    document.location.reload();
    gnRE--;
    Make it read
    function tryReload()
    if (gnRE==1)
    // document.location.reload();
    gnRE--;
    About those JavaScript references you were deleting, you need
    to keep them because they have browser-sniffing and filtering code.
    Also:
    In the output file myproject.htm look for these lines near
    the beginning:
    <meta name="description" content="WebHelp 5.50">
    </head>
    Delete </head> here because it belongs elsewhere.
    In the same output file myproject.htm look for these lines
    near the end:
    </script>
    <frameset cols="100%,*" frameborder=no border=0>
    Make them read
    </script>
    </head>
    <frameset cols="100%,*" frameborder=no border=0>
    At the very end before </html>, insert
    <body></body>:
    <body></body>
    </html>
    Why, you may ask, would Firefox be affected by code that
    filters for Nav4?
    I don't completely get it, but it seems Firefox also
    identifies itself as a Mozilla browser, and the ancient code in
    whver.js appears to equate Mozilla with Nav4. Once this flag is
    set, it is not turned off. In fact browser ID flags accumulate. So
    Firefox may be burdened with RH browser ID flags for Mozilla, Nav4
    and maybe Nav5, Nav 6, Nav61 and Nav7.
    Just try to find your way through all the RH code filters
    with those flags.
    If you're really adventuresome, go into whver.js and add flag
    definitions for gbFirefox (I think gb stood for generic browser,
    i.e., not IE) and insert it into all the "if" conditions where you
    think it should be treated the same as, or differently from, the
    other browsers.
    Disclaimers and warnings:
    All of the above applies to RH 5 code. I haven't had time to
    look in RH6. Adobe may have fixed some, not others.
    Because these are output files, RH probably will overwrite
    them when you publish a revised version, so you must check the new
    published output.
    As always:
    It works for me but may not work for you; back up everything,
    test and retest, etc., etc. My driver's license is good in my chair
    but may not be valid elsewhere.
    Good luck.

  • Help topics are not displaying when using Windows 7 / IE 9 / RH10

    We recently upgraded our library from RH8 to RH10.  Also used a trial version of  RH9 in this process. Now when we compile several of the projects have issues where help topics do not display when selected in the TOC or when a link to the topic is clicked within another internal topic. It is in a continous loop in the browser (like it is trying to load).  If you right-click on the topic it displays (we are currently using this as the work-around).  Anyone else having this problem?? I saw something similiar for Windows8/IE10, but the fix does not apply here (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5138909#5138909#5138909).

    Hi,
    I (April) apologize I have been OOO and have not been able to respond to your replies.
    Let’s start over.
    We have an issue where help topics do not display when selected in the TOC or when a link to the topic is clicked within another internal topic. It is in a continous loop in the browser (flickering like it is trying to load). If you right-click on the topic it displays (we are currently using this as the work-around).
    We use Windows 7, IE9 and RH10 for all our projects. (Recently upgraded from RH8 to RH10)
    Turns out the problem is not isolated. I have run across it in at least one other project, which leads me to think it also occurs in others.
    "Does this only occur when the help is called from your software? Is it OK if you double click the start page?"
              No. I it ALSO occurs when launched from the start page.
    Have you tried deleting the CPD file and reopening Rh and the project?
              Yes, without success.
    Are you using any redirects?
              Per (Adrienne), “I am not using any redirects. I encounter this issue only in IE. If I paste the .htm into a Firefox browser, the help displays as it should.”
              I will add that the project also displays incorrectly in Google Chrome.
    Thanks  April

  • Some .htm file not displaying in Topic List, but displaying in RH11 folder

    Hi All,
    We are running a project using RH 11, team consist of 3 person (include me)
    But we have problem with many  .htm file from my 1st coworker, file not displaying in Topic List in my Robohelp and 2nd coworker.
    Although we already get the latest file again and again
    But .htm file displaying in all our RH11 folder.
    In my 1st coworker RH, all file displaying in Topic List also RH11 folder, but when file generated then
    Many files from 1st coworker, hyperlink is not working well (broken link / file not found)
    Does anyone have experience about this problem
    Thanks

    First of all, make sure you do not have the following files in source control: .cpd, .pss, .ldb.
    These files contain local information that can cause problems when in source control.
    Then try this:
    Everyone deletes the .cpd file.
    Everyone gets the latest files for the whole project from source control.
    Open the project.
    Does everything now display correctly?
    If yes, you need to make sure you delete the cpd file before opening the project each day, and also during the day if you know a co-worker has made changes that you need. This file is a database which includes a list of all the files Robohelp knows about. When other people are adding and removing files, this information no longer matches properly. I recommend doing a Get Latest in these situations as well, just to make sure Robohelp can find the correct information.
    If you are still not seeing the correct files repeat the above process, but at step 2, pick the options to Overwrite local files. I can't say where you will see these options - they may be two checkboxes in a dialog box when you select Get Latest - it will depend on your source control application.
    Hope this helps.

  • FlashHelp files not displaying in topic pane

    I have generated FlashHelp using RoboHelp 7. I then copied
    the FlashHelp folder to a server via FTP.
    When I view the ...index.htm file in the !SSL! folder on my C
    drive, the system displays correctly. When I view the ...index.htm
    file in the FlashHelp folder on the server, the .htm files are not
    displaying in the topic pane. It states "Internet Explorer cannot
    display the webpage. On the first page of the FlashHelp wizard, I
    have the output folder and start page designated
    (...!SSL!/FlashHelp/Index.htm). The default topic is
    GettingStarted\home.htm.
    Any suggestions?

    If the toolbar and left pane are loading, the scripts must be
    working correctly. Do you have a way to view a list of the files
    that are actually on the server and verify that all your HTML
    topics are present?
    The reason I ask is that I had trouble recently with one
    project in which I was getting application (Java "FileNotFound")
    errors in my topic pane when accessing the help through the
    application. I use version control, however, and once I had deleted
    my files from the repository and then checked them in again, the
    problem seemed to be fixed. But if you are doing FTP directly to
    the server, you are probably not dealing with application builds.
    In any case, the problem appeared to be that the server was not
    recognizing that the files were actually there.

  • Search Tab in WebHelp Not Displaying Any Topics

    Let me preface this thread by saying that I JUST figured out the answer to my own problem. I tried to post this thread about 2 hours ago, but the forum was having issues...I got unexpected errors, and such. Although I figured out the answer a moment ago, I wanted to post the thread anyway, in case others come across the same problem, they will know how to fix it.
    The Search tab in WebHelp doesn't work. No matter what I do, no topics will display when I enter search terms that I *know* are in the Help system. I have another project on the same computer, and the Search tab in that project works fine. I tried to attach screenshots, but keep getting an "unexpected error," so I gave up. But basically, if I enter a search term and click Go, "No topics found" displays.
    When the WebHelp is being generated for this project, the following displays in the Output View:
    "Processing Full-text-search data...
    Finished processing Full-Text-Search data in 0 sec(s)"
    It looks like something that is needed in order to do the full-text-search is missing, but I have no idea what. I have read several threads in the forums regarding Search tab issues that others have had.
    I have:
        * Ensured that the itss.dll and itircl.dll are registered and in my C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder
        * Confirmed that I have keyhelp.ocx and hhctrl.ocx in my C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder
        * Used the same browser to view the WebHelp output for both projects (firefox 3.6.18)
        * Checked the project settings - they match
        * Checked everything in the WebHelp Settings window - General, Content Categories, Navigation, Search and Publish - everything matches in both projects
        * Tried creating a new webhelp layout, selecting a different skin...
    everything, to no avail.
    When the WebHelp is being generated for the project where the Search tab works, the following displays in the Output View:
    "Processing Full-text-search data...
    Finished processing Full-Text-Search data in 115 sec(s)
    I can't understand why the Search tab works in one project, but not the other project. See the diagnostic report below. According to the report, the only thing I don't have (and don't know how to get) is MS Help 2. But why would my search work in one project and not the other, despite not having MS Help 2? Both project have the same settings and I'm generating the same output - WebHelp. Any ideas why my Search tab works in one project, but not my other project?
    Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    NOTE: In my original post, I forgot to include the diagnostic report that was produced by using the diagnostics tool mentioned in other threads where forum members were having problems with the Search tab, so here it is (just so that this thread is complete)...

  • Robo 8  Topic files not displaying in project manager

    I am working on a project upgrade and have made new topics in Robo 8 project.  When I view the topic files for a particular folder in the Project Manager view only 1/2 of my topics are displayed..  When I look in the folder (behind the scenes), all my topics are there, just not displayed in the Project Manager.  What do I need to do?  Thanks!.

    Peter,
    Thanks for your help and suggestions.
    I have a project that I tested with RH 8.0.2.208 using the following steps/results.
    October 5, 2009 – last date the project was modified – based on the modified date of *.htm files and *.xpj file.
    Copied the project.
    Opened the copy using *.xpj.
    Broken links exist.
    Opened a 10-5-2009 copy of the actual HTML help file. Checked one broken link topic. The topic exists in the output and looks correct.
    Copied the project again.
    Deleted *.cpd.
    Open the new copy using *.xpj.
    Broken links exist.
    Generated (HTML) primary output.
    Checked one broken link topic (same as above). Topic content exists, but the screen captures in the topic do not. A red x appears in place of the screen captures.
    I do not know how to uninstall only the patch. I looked at Add or Remove programs, and I do not see a stand alone entry for the patch.
    To uninstall the patch, do I have to completely uninstall RH 8.0.2 and reinstall the older version fresh? That seems like a major bother. An uninstall and fresh install of the earlier version will likely eliminate some styles and other settings that I have saved.
    Is there a way to uninstall just the patch?
    As an alternative to uninstalling 8.0.2, I opened a fresh copy of the project (last modified 10-5-2009) on a machine with RH 8.0.203 installed, i.e., a machine without the patches installed.
    There were no problem with the project, i.e., no broken links.
