Topics in help centre not available?

Just purchased an iMac so just getting to 'learn the basics' but I'm getting: 'The selected topic is currently unavailable. The topic you were trying to view could not be found.'
Have I done something wrong or is there a known problem?

You may be able to solve the problem by deleting the Help cache.

from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Move the selected folder to the Trash. Log out, log back in, and test. Help pages will be slow to load at first.
If that doesn't work, the problem may be caused by network conditions. It may go away by itself, though I can't say how long you should wait.
A persistent failure to load help data has been reported as an issue with certain ISP's, such as the Exede satellite network. Test on a different network, if possible. I've also seen at least one report that Photo Stream in iCloud can mysteriously interfere with Help. I'm not sure whether that's true, but try disabling Photo Stream, if applicable.*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select

from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Error message "iTunes Helper Resources not available" and saving to wrong Drive

I am trying to upgrade iTunes to 10.7 on my PC but I keep getting the error message "iTunes Helper Resources not available". Diagnostics take me a support page which talks about not being able to see the device in iTunes - but I can see the device without problems.
I thought I would try reinstalling iTunes from the webpage and it downloaded to my PC fine but when I went to setup, it showed me it is saving to a DVD drive - not my Hard drive. It also won't let me change the location for the file. I have no idea how that's happened as I obviously don't use the DVD drive as a USB (although the PC see's it as one) and I've never chosen it as the location for iTunes in the 7-8 years that I've been using it.
I then thought I'd try uninstalling it and reinstalling it (to the correct drive) but again, it comes up that the DVD drive is invalid and won't uninstall iTunes.
So I'm stuck and haven't been able to find anything helpful on the support pages or in iTunes Help.
    Please someone help ...
    Thanks.

Try the following user tip. (Probably, the section on clearing the installation database might be best given that you've currently got a drive on the problematic letter at the moment.)

  • MM03 Material master display F4 help is not available

    Dear All..
For one particular user MM03 Material master display F4 help is not available
even i have press the push button on material text the help is not popup.
Even authorization already exist  for that user material master display.
Please give your suggestion on this.
    Regards
    Anand.

    HI Anand,
I am going to assume that the problem is with F4 help in general, and not just with MM03.
If you have only one user with the problem, then the best way to troubleshoot is to compare with another user who is not having the same problem (like yourself).
First check Help settings for the user:  From any screen, select Help>Settings  select F4 tab.  Review the settings. Look for differences.  Make corrections.  Save.
If you can find nothing amiss, then the GUI is probably the culprit.  Check to see if this user is on the same version and patch as the 'successful' users.  From SAPLOGON, select the tiny SAP icon from the blue bar, then select 'About SAP logon'.  Alternately, you can right clik on the SAPLOGON on the Windows taskbar and select 'About SAP Logon'.
There are known problems of bad interactions between certain Microsoft Software and certain patches of SAPGUI.  If any problems, download the latest GUI version and patch from SAP software distribution Center
    http://service.sap.com/swdc
Select Download>Support packages and Patches>Entry by Application group
    Select SAP frontend components.
Select the appropriate platform, then download the version that you need.
If the user is on the same vers & patch as you, and you can't find any other problem, might be a good idea to reinstall the SAPGUI.

  • Getting "Help is not available..."

Whenever I try to access the dynamic help from inside Flash Builder, I get a dialog saying "Help is not available at this time" and "Verify that you are connected to the internet then try again". I am connected to the internet. The Adobe Community Help application is installed. I've even instralled the latest one from Labs (with the built-in "find" function). I've doewnloaded help locally for Flex. I can access this help from within the Adobe Help application. But I can not access it from within Flash Builder 4. Attempting to do so shows the above error message. I sustpect a prefs file being out of whack, since the error message is totally bogus.
    Any suggestion appreciated.
    -JM

Nope, didn't help. Got exactly the same error message. Note that the Adobe Help application works OK in all other CS5 applications (including Flash Professional). It's only its link to FB that somehow seems broken. It doesn't even attempt to launch it. If I select Dynamic Help on the Help menu then click an identifier, it appears in the Dynamic Help pane, as shown here:
However, when I click the API in the Help pane, I get this error message:
With the bogus error message (the computer can browse the Internet, send email, etc).
So the qwuestion remains, how can I get AS3 help working again from within FB?

  • Why is the help centre never available

When I access the Help Centre and select a topic, I always get the error message advising topic not available, check your network settings or try again later.  I am a new user of a MacBook and wondering if anyone elkse has had this problem and how did you fix it?  I have tried Apple Support and was told maybe they have a problem, but still it doesn't work.  I have had my Mac 4 weeks now and still access the topics to learn more.  Very frustrating indeed.

    Hi 71,
I have tried this suggestion several times with no luck.  Thought I'd start a new thread in case someone has alternative.  I'm surprised Apple Support did not advise to try this.  I know I don't have a network problem as i have no network issues with any other software, tools, whatever.  This is very frustrating as a new user of a MacBook, I can't get to any additional info/help to learn more the apps.  I hope someone can point me in the right direction soon or I might have to go back Windows, grrrrr.

  • Why Safari Help frequently "not available?"

Although I am connected to the Internet, Safari Help topics frequently come up as "not available" as though I were not connected (I've noticed this happens on other Help menus too). Is it my download speed?

Sometimes just closing and reopening the Help window will clear up the problem. If it doesn't, log out or reboot and try again. Otherwise, you may need to delete the Help cache.

  • I am having problems with an update.  I spoke with Prabhudev on 9/27.  He was unable to resolve my problem and referred me to call 800-833-6687.  When I call, I get an automated message that help is not available.  What now?

My Mac tells me there is an update for Photoshop CS5, the Camera Raw 6.7 update.  It downloads, installs, then gives me an error message that the installation failed, error code U44M1P7, and advises contacting Customer Support.  I did so.  On 9/27 I chatted with Prabhudev.  He referred me to a link to download the update.  I did the download and tried to install.  I got an error message - "Error - “AdobePatchInstaller.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.“AdobePatchInstaller.app” is on the disk image “AdobeCameraRaw-6.7-mul-AdobeUpdate.dmg”. Safari downloaded this disk image today at 12:54 PM from www.adobe.com"  He then said
Prabhudev: Okay, In this case I suggest you to contact our technical support team on monday.
    Prabhudev: 800-833-6687
That number gets me to a recording that tells me that phone support is not available.
I can open and use Photoshop, but whenever I check for updates for my computer, this same update comes up, gets downloaded, and fails to install.  I want to either get rid of the update message or get the update installed.  Can anyone help?

Further info - I changed my security settings to allow apps from anywhere, and again tried to install.  I again got an error message
that the update failed to install, and to contact Customer Support.

  • Address Book Help is not available

I don't believe I have ever had Address Book Help. When I go to it, it will give me the prompts for Content, etc., but there is no information there.
Can someone assist me in figuring out how to download Address Book "Help". Would I go to my start-up disk and somehow just download that part? or is there a download on line which I can use?
I have no idea why it's not available. I've had the computer since 04 and seldom have needed to access Help in this regard. Now, I really need it.

  • Help files not available?

I am new to Leopard 10.5.6, working on a new MacPro, CS3. I wanted to explore options for exporting an InDesign file as text only, but I get the message "Adobe Help Viewer is not installed or the installation has been damaged. Please reinstall InDesign."
As I noted, this is a brand new machine, and I installed CS3 with no apparent problems a couple of days ago. And I made sure to update Leopard before the installation.
Is this one of those Leopard/Adobe problems, or do I really need to reinstall to restore the Help Files? I've been working with CS3 for a year now, and never encountered this problem on my older G5 with Tiger. Sadly (?), the logic board went out on that machine.
I appreciate your time and help.

I had the same issue: I have been running InDesign CS3 under Tiger (10.4) for a long time. InDesign was updated to 5.0.4.
When I upgraded to Leopard (10.5.6), the Help menu in CS3 just showed a Spotlight box, not the other CS3 Help menu contents, like InDesign Help, Activate, Register, etc.
I'm sure it was because I installed Leopard AFTER installing CS3. What I did was just re-run the Indesign_5_0_4.dmg updater, and now my CS3 Help menu is back to what it should be. I didn't have to reinstall everything, and the updater really did run even though IDCS3 was already "at" 5.0.4.
Just thought I'd post for other late late late Leopard adopters like me
