Torch 9800: Freezing up and showing hourglass icon

I live in Canada and when I cross oever to the United States i need to shut down my provider in order not to pay fees for roaming ...
I`ve done this often in the past without any problems until yesterday...
Ever since i turned it back on, the hourglass icon pops up every few seconds which is extremely annoying !
My BB is only 18 months old but must say I seriously think i have a lemon. I`ve always had odd problems with it.Problems none of my friends have with theirs.
This is really making me think of swithcing to Apple !
Does anyone else have this latest problem with their Torch 9800

Whenever I try to import a photo from photo both t iPhoto or from i photo to Facebook, iPhoto either freezes up and shows nothing on the i photo page, or it sometimes tells me i have pictures imported or not imported yet. Whether I say yes or no it freeze

Everytime I either try ti import pictures from photo booth to ihpto or iphoto to facebook, iphoto freezes up and shows me a message that says this: " Three photos have been found in the i photo library that were not imported." I have the choice to either import them or not. I have tried clicking yes and no. Either way, I photo freezes up, and the rainbow cirlse comes and does not load anything for hours! I just got my mac book pro. I should have no problems like this. WHat do i do to fix it or get rid of these photos?

Torch 9800 - Mobile Data and BIS not activated - Mail & Browse fail, Opera Mini is slow and MSN and Yahoo go in timeout

I have a BB Torch 9800 with OS 6.0 Bundle 2534
I had a contract with the Mobile Operator including the Data Package and everything was working fine, I have access to the mail through BIS, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger was working Ok, as far as Whatsup. Also the Browser was working Ok.
When I was on roaming I have settled “Roaming Off” in “Mobile Network Options” to just use Internet over Wi-Fi when I was under the Wi-Fi coverage.
Then I’ve decided to migrate the contract to “Recharchable” and also decided to dismiss the Data Packet because of cost limitations. Now I have BIS in “not connected” state.
Problem now is that I cannot get the apps working when connected to any Wi-Fi AP.
Mail is not working. MSN & Yahoo returns the message “Unable to find the requested server” when attempting to login. The Browse is also not working and only Opera Mini seems to work but it takes several minutes to build a page.
I’ve also tried to ping the AP and it rarely succeed, sometimes all attempts are failing, sometimes one attempt succeed.
It seems to my eyes that there is a terribly big delay and some applications (except mail and browse that shows not to work) go in timeout with the message previously described.
I’m not sure whether BIS access or no access is influencing the BB behavior with a Wi-Fi connection and making dramatically slower.
The BB connects at Layer 1 with the AP because I can see the BB MAC address at the AP’s menu. I’ve tried also with DHCP Client and Manual IP configuration, no way.
I’ve found at http://forums.crackberry.com/general-blackberry-discussion-f2/unable-find-requested-server-bb-9330-a... that it could be a bug in the 6.0.
I’ve searched tons of forum postings and it seems no one has the clue of this problem. Unfortunately the Torch 9800 cannot be upgraded to the 7.x. this is really bad as it seems I have purchased a “dead” mobile phone.
Of course I’ve tried with lots a different Aps. I’m a technician and I think I’ve done a proper troubleshooting before to come to this conclusion.
Anyone has an update about this problem or, I have no other chance than throwing away this phone and purchase a nice Samsung Note II hopping not be blocked with another unexpected showstopper.

The only two options available to you are adding BIS to your plan or continue using Opera which works outside of BIS (the BlackBerry browser does not).

Thumbnails show hourglass icons. How can I get the pictures back?

I have photoshop 11. I'm running Windows 7. Most (80%) of my thumbnails in the organizer have been replaced with hourglass icons. How do I get my thumbnail pictures back and why did this happen?

Blackberry Torch 9800 Freeze and Re-boot random times

Hi everyone,
I have recently had a few application upgrades and since this my phone will at random freeze and then re-boot, which takes an age, especially when you need to make a call !
I have tried a backup then a security wipe and did not re-install the applications but alas it is still doing it.
Could this be the software ?
There is no option to downgrade in the menu to try the previous software edition.
Any help will be very welcome. Steve

one of the guys here had a random reboot issue and it was the battery causing it.
he didnt mention freezing, but if it was an app.
On device go to Options, Device, Application Management is a great way to see what your apps are doing with your CPU usage on Smartphone. Just slide top bar to CPU and see what is going on. Also touch the CPU menu to see other time variables. I found out that an app was eating away CPU cycles on mine
Disable Compression on media card? go to Options, Device, Storage
using a custom theme? try it for a day the factory default one to rule out your theme
remember the esc key closes most apps, except for GPS and some chat clients. the other apps need to use menu and then exit or close. The farthest key to the right is a home key and does not close any apps per se but will end calls.

Intermittent and Perpetual Hourglass Icon / Sever Memory Leaks

Before anything else, these are my details:
Curve 8320
App Version: 4.5.0.37 (52)
Platform: 2.7.0.55
Hi! I've been getting the long intermittent hourglass problem over the last couple of months - it's absolutely infuriating. The hourglass / clock icon shows up at all times and usually lasts for up to 15-20 minutes. If I get an incoming call, I can't do anything because the "loading" doesn't allow me to press the answer key at all (sometimes I can sneak the click in between the half-second gaps of the loading icons). The other issue I've got is that of severe memory leakage. I know it was bad before, but now I go from 7MB to 0MB in around two hours.
I've removed most of the frilly applications and have left the following on:

The only program here that is ever set to auto-update is Twitter, and it does so every 15 minutes. The rest of the programs are set to either only update manually or to do so when opened (i.e., FB). When I'm away from the computer, the three IM clients (YM,WLM and gTalk) are always on - with googleTalk being on perpetually (due to the multiple location sign-in option.
I'm at wits' end on this problem and have a feeling that upgrading to a new phone is my only option at this point. Is there anything I can do? Or are any of my programs/themes on a blacklist somewhere?

You need to dump a lot more 3rd party apps. The 8320 just doesn't have the application memory resources to hold all that. Themes are some of the worst as far as using memory, even if they're not in use at the time. BBmessenger is 2.0 MB all by itself. if you're going to use that many 3rd party apps, it's time for a device upgrade.
Your problem is definitely a memory issue and you need to clean that stuff out.

MacBook won't fully boot and shows caution icon ??

I have just applied some updates to my MacBook air from the Apple support site. Now my MacBook air boots with a caution icon showing briefly and then you shuts down. This booting process cycles three times and then my MacBook air shuts down for good.
If there is anyone who knows how I can resolve this issue or remove the updates I have applied to an original instance it would be greatly appreciated.

Torch 9800 wont charge and kills two chargers already

im afraid my beloved torch starts eating his own allies
when i try to charge it, it wont charge, the charging symbol wont appear and it already killed two chargers!

No, it really doesn't answer the question, so let me rephrase the question.
Are you CERTAIN the charger is actually dead,
OR
Do you think the USB port on the handheld device is dead?
You could connect one or both of the chargers to another device to see if it charges.
Or, use a friend's charger on your 9800 to see if it charges.

What may be causing computer to freeze up and show Firefox taking 50% of CPU? I am using Firefox version 4.0.1

While viewing charts on the Scottrade website, computer slowed to a crawl. I went to Windows Task Manger to see if another program was running in the background. Task Manager showed that firefox was using 50% of CPU

Just for starters, your My Web Search plug-in is generally regarded as malware. Try Googling "my web search plug -in" or use the Search Firefox Help box above
Use the quotes. In the box above click the entries even if they seem to be about something else e.g. "Adobe".

The Scottrade site does kick up cpu usage(to around 30% on my Firefox) on loading but immediately settles down.

Ipod shows sady icon and spinning sound comes from the ipod

Hi all,
Please help me , my sis gift me ipod and after one year i put my ipod on my cell phone cover for few minutes accidently which is having magnetic lock, after few minutes my ipod shuts down , when i want to restart the ipod, it sounds like the hard disk is spinning or me be other component producing sound. when i connect it to my laptop it is not connected to my system and even recoginised my my itunes. first of all it is not reseted by using the keys MENU & center button, when i use center and play/pause button, an apple logo appers then i on the hold button after a few seconds the message appers that u need to restore the ipod using itune after a minute it shows donot disconnect in black colour , when i connect it to my system it detects in windows as a external device connected but the dive icon dosent comes, after a few minutes it disappears automatically and shows saddy icon, after that it shows the message " Please wait very low battery" and some processing appears on the sceen. Even one time itunes detects my ipod and says to restore the ipod, but when i click the restore icon, it says your ipod is not detected.
If i connect my ipod to my ipod charger or usb cable it shows sady icon and then disssppears with sound of clicking/spinning,and message appears on screen" Please wait.. very low battery. with processing icon." and then again starts after 2-3 minutes showing apple logo and then sady icon.
Please help me to get rid from this issue.

When I go click on a specific "Sent" message, all the lettering on the screen fades to an opaque, an hourglass icon appears, & nothing happens.

I presume you are refering to the Thunderbird search facility that allows you to 'Search google for', but now it says 'search Yahoo for'.
When you enter something and select 'search Yahoo for' you will see a list of icons on the left side, currently the yahoo icon is selected and at the bottom the heart icon is also red.
You can select any of those icons to change to another search engine.
select the google icon, then at the bottom on the left, look for the heart icon, it will appear white with black outline. Click on the heart icon to change it to red. This will set google as default.
Now close the search and retry, this time it should say 'Search google for'.

My torch 9800 doesn't locate 3G network

my torch 9800 only connects to 2g network. where other torch device connects to 3G my torch 9800 only locates and connects to 2g.

On your Mobile Network, what is your settings? If you are 3G, switch to 2G and back to 3G. You can perform hard reset by pulling your battery while your BlackBerry is ON and reinsert again. See what happens.

The USB cable and iTunes logo is telling you to connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with. Something has gone wrong and you need to restore your iPad.

No longer able to locate the Twitter icon anywhere on my Torch 9800

I have Twitter version 4.0.0.15 installed on my Torch 9800 and have been using Twitter frequently for the past six months or so. For some reason I can no longer find the Twitter icon anywhere. Not in "All", "Favourites", "Frequent" or Downloads. I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, pulling the battery for a reboot (both with the Blackberry turned ON as well as with it OFF), all to no avail. This just started the other day. At about the same time, or shortly before this problem started, I upgraded the News/sports app "Canoe". Thinking that it might have been this upgrade that is causing the problem, I currently have Canoe uninstalled and went through the same procedures but have been unable to correct it.
Has anyone had a similar problem? If so, how did you correct it? I miss using Twitter.

1. On your homescreen, press the Menu key > SHOW ALL, so that SHOW ALL is checked.
2. Look in EACH folder on your device... Applications, Instant Messengers, Downloads, etc.
If you still don't see it, look at Options > Device > Applications. Do you see it listed there?
