Torch battery indicator not right

I'm using a Torch 9800 on AT&T, OS is 6.0 bundle 2647.
My battery indicator is reporting that the battery is draining very rapidly.... it gets to zero in an hour or two, but the device keeps running all day long without actually running out of power.  I've turned off GPS, WIFI, BT, and dimmed the screen. When I pull the battery and reinsert it, the indicator goes back to indicating a nearly full charge, but then indicates (erroneously)  that it is rapidly losing it's charge, getting back to zero in a couple of hours.  I've swapped batteries with a coworker and had the same results.  It even stays at zero when plugged in to the charger, even though I know the battery is charging.
Any ideas?

Your "on-device" battery meter is not updating or correctly calculating the battery charge.
There are a couple things I can recommend:
upgrade your device operating system.
Connect your device to a wall outlet charger, and allow it to charge an hour or so, and while STILL connected to the charger, remove the battery on the device for a minute, replace and reboot. See how it goes on the meter, and if it doesn't get straight, refer back to #1.

  • IPad (3rd generation) battery indicator not accurate!

Yesterday I charged my 3rd generation iPad to 100% then left it charging an additional 1 and a 1/4 hours additional. The battery indicator read 100% this morning it read 95% as it wasn't off just sleeping. I then turned off the iPad using the power button on top. When I turned it on again the battery indicator read 100% again.  What is going on? To me it seems like there is a software problem in the battery charging system.

I tested using two Battery Utilities (now battery says 98%) Boost Magic says 100% and Battery Magic says 96% so here is the summary none agree.
    iPad indicator 98%
    Battery Magic 99%
    Boost Magic 99%
Not sure which is correct or why it read 95% when I looked at it this morning then reverted to 100% after turning off and then on again.

  • Ibook Battery Indicator Not Accurate

I was wondering if anyone out there had the same problem as me. When I use my 12" iBook on the portable battery, the computer goes to sleep earlier than indicated. When I have 22% of battery left, it suddenly says 0% and goes to sleep. Moreover, when I recharge it, it charges up to about 88% and the power adapter turns green. It then suddenly says 100%. I recently recalibrated my battery so I don't think thats the problem. Does anyone know what is wrong and what to do? Thanks

    Hi Pal,
Heres some info on the iBook's battery. Also you might want to look at Battery FAQ
    Just some info,

  • Battery indicator not accurate on retina MBP

as seen in my screen shot, the battery bar indicates 100% and no longer charging. The light on the magsafe also displays green. However, on system report, and coconut battery, it indicates that power is 99% and still charging.
Does anyone experience the same phenomenon?

    no one has this experience?

How can you say "solved" on a thread still unsolved???:

Tell me where is your solution in that thread? Nokia ..you should find personnal who really know how to treat posters and really make an effort to solve our issues OR just close down this forum!
    5800-E72-N80-N9-Iphone-BB
I like all the phones in my household but the N9 is a big disappointment :
    Low ring tones
    Led doesn't work
Arabic Language interface taking too long
    Doesn't support Nimbuzz
Division of memory has no logic
I regret buying this phone and am trying to sell it for any price right now.

    Same issue here.
I bought my N9 one week ago from a Nokia Store (in Turkey), and its LED too is not blinking when charging. So I went to the store to ask them to change the phone but they reject my request. And more interestingly, its the second N9 that they gave me. Because the first one I bought had had a double tap unlock problem and they had changed it unquestioningly (I do not know if the first one had the issue) .
I'm really furious with Nokia now. They sold me a phone which is with that issue, it is their fault. But I am the one who is reduced to use that failing phone.
Good for you Nokia. Keep going like that and make us hate you. Actually I am the real idiot here. Why on earth did I not bought an iPhone 4S or something else instead this godd*mn phone?

  • Iphone battery indicator says 100% but the icon is black not green

i have a iphone 5c. the battery indicator icon on top says 100% but the icon is a batter but its all black not green. is that right? should it be all green?

You need to make an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar to have it evaluated by the techs there. We are just users like you and cannot possibly diagnose what's wrong with your phone without looking at it.

  • Battery indicator lights will not work

For some odd reason when I push the battery indicator button on the left side there is no response (not even one light). According to the battery information in System Profiler the battery is in "good" condition with a cycle count of "66". Even when it is fully charged there is no response from the indicator lights. What is this attributable to? Thanks in advance.

He also said that the battery is functioning properly and does maintain a full charge.
You can confirm this yourself by having the seller show you the battery information in System Profile.
I'm just wondering if there is a serious problem and if I should pass on buying this a Mac?

  • My battery indicator is on green but the percentage is not showing on the phone

My phone was working fine this morning then suddenly on the home screen the battery percentage disappeared. It was at 56 percent when it disappeared. I shut the phone down, that did not change it. I checked the battery indicator and it was still set to green. I shut it off and then turned it on again. Still no percentage showing on my phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since you have already performed a restart, the next user step is a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. Check then.

  • I have a iphone 4s.  Just recently i noticed a phone icon next to the battery indicator at the top right hand corner of my phone.  What ever it is, it is eating up my battery like crazy. What is it?

This didn't work for me, so I did a bit of searching and TONS of pages later in google, I found an answer. Here are the steps for people who also were in my situation:
    1. Take off bottom case
    2. Unplug battery - blurry image here: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/03cC79r5Dx4/0.jpg
    3. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds
    4. Plug a charger in, and it should start booting up
    5. After shutting down again, reconnect the battery and close the case up
    6. It works! (hopefully, if you guys had the same situation I did)

  • Macbook slow and shuts down when battery indicator is not empty

    Hi everyone,
I have a 17'' macbook pro bought mid June 2007.
Three weeks ago I noticed that my macbook pro would shut down at 20% battery (if I was not plugged) and would not start back until I plugged it in. I figured it was a battery problem. However, my macbook started getting really slow with the little 'volleyball' icon appearing more and more often without having to use lots of different of programs in parallel.
Also last week I realized that now my macbook pro shuts down automatically at 67% battery! I checked the little button behind the battery and when this happens it shows to me 3 out 5 light indicator. So I'm guessing that the battery is not dead and yet my computer shuts down.
I resetted my SMC (I think that's what it's called) and repaired my disk... I have not reformatted it though.
Can someone help me out? Is the fact that my mac is slow related to its shutting down prematurely?
For info: my battery is 2y old and has 360 cycles.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
    Cheers
    aqualover

    Good on resetting SMC.
You should properly calibrate your battery:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284
If that doesn't fix the problem, contact AppleCare about a replacement. Battery warranties were extended to 2 years and maybe you still have a warranty:

Took apart Macbook pro 13 to remove broken headphone tip in the jack. Had to remove battery to get to the headphone jack. Now the laptop won't start. The power button is just not responding. Battery indicator showed charge of 3 dots initially but now only the last dot is blinking. The power cable used to light up green initially but now the green light is gone. I have tried SMC reset, which didn't work. What are my options?

  • My iPod touch 5th generation battery indicator does not update when being charged (Updated to iOS 8)

Note that the iPod touch 5th generation was updated to iOS 8. When I connect my charger to my iPod touch, for the first time, the battery indicator does not update when connected to a power source. Instead of being charged, it says that the battery is being depleted. Please fix this issue. Thank you!

  • Another battery indicator issue-- not 1.1.1 related

Sorry if this is a repeat. I searched for this and didn't find it, though it seems like something that should have been reported before. Am both asking if others have the issue/how it was solved and offering my experience as possible help.
3 week old phone. Firmware 1.0.2 (never updated to 1.1.1, not a downgrade). Never hacked.
Phone has been working fine, was getting 100% charge, plug icon achieved w/ full green glowing icon when charged. Usage after my last full charge: probably 2-3 hours phone, frequent mail, some wi-fi, standby for 2.5 days.
Bluetooth on all the time, wi-fi only on during use, screen brightness turned down to ~30%, manual mail checking only, usually in excellent reception areas so phone not constantly searching for signal.
Put phone to sleep last night w/ battery indicator @ ~50%. When tried waking phone this morning it, for the first time, showed message saying phone needed to be plugged in and showed the large battery icon with a very thin red line representing charge remaining and turned itself off. So I plugged the phone into the wall adapter and the charging icon came on with a sliver of red (slightly wider than when not plugged in).
Did some reading online and unplugged the phone maybe 10 minutes after plugging it in-- with charge icon still showing thin red area, unchanged from initially. After unplugging the small menu icon had a red sliver of charge showing but the phone did not automatically turn off, though that was for only maybe 10 seconds or so.
Then I did a reset w/ menu-sleep buttons. After the phone rebooted there is maybe 40% of battery life on menu indicator. I replugged the phone into the wall charger for a better look and the large icon shows about the same-- 40%. I unplugged phone immediately and have been monitoring it for about an hour. Still at roughly 40% and phone function working normally as does everything else, including video-- though that drains battery indicator pretty quickly.
I know that there is rapid charge when first plugged in but I don't think that 10 minutes would take it from the 10% shutoff point to this degree of charge. My guess is that it's an intermittent problem with the phone's internal battery sensing abilities which gets reset with a phone reset.
The good news is that the phone is functional when it thinks it's not. The bad news is that a) a reset is a mild pain in the neck. (Could be that just fully turning the phone off and restarting it would have worked but I didn't try that. Other than losing usage data I don't know what else one loses with a reset.)
and b) it is unnerving to not be able to trust the battery indicator, especially when one isn't near a convenient charging option.
So, anyone else had this same issue? Thoughts, fixes?
    Thanks
    Steve
