Toshiba 22DV501B SPDIF output too quiet

I recently purchased a Toshiba 22DV501B which I want to plug into my hi fi amp. I purchased a Cablesson® SAP-3 Digital to Analogue Audio Converter and plugged it in. It works, but the volume is so low I need to turn my amp right up to hear it.
Is there any way of altering the volume of the SPDIF digital out?
Cheers

I don't believe that's possible, but I don't have specific information on that model because it appears to be from the UK. This site only officially supports the US region. You might want to contact Toshiba UK.

• Speakerphone output too quiet on iPhone 6

I can hardly hear the other side on iPhone 6 when I turn on the speakerphone, even at max volume.

I'm exactly the same. Using the latest app update, and the latest iOS, I can barely hear on my iPhone 6. Looked at every volume setting I can find but nothing has helped.
Googling the problem, it looks like the same thing happened when the iPhone 5 came out and there was a pretty quick response. Now..... not so much....

• SPDIF output is disabled when connecting a HDMI device

Hello, hope someone can help.
I've got a Toshiba SAT U500 with Realtek audio driver. I want to send the video to the TV (via HDMI) and still send audio via SPDIF to the digital receiver. By some reason it is automatically enabling HDMI audio when I connect the TV, and on the SPDIF output (icon on Windows 7 -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound) a telephone sign appears.
What does that telephone sign mean? How to make the system not to disable SPDIF output when connecting a HDMI device?
Thanx in advance!!!

If you encounter an issue using the Apple Digital AV Adapter or VGA Adapter:
Disconnect and reconnect the adapter from the iOS device and display.
Connect directly to the TV, projector, or external display using a known-good VGA or HDMI cable.
Remove any VGA or HDMI extension cables or converters.
Note that accessories that convert a VGA or HDMI signal to other video formats (DVI, Composite, Component) are not supported.

• W100: speakers too quiet - fan too loud

Hello,
i am using the w100-10d and i am not amused about the loudness concerning the fan and
the speakers. The fan is too loud and the speakers are very quiet.
Is anybody there, who can give me some informations about the speakers and their configuration ?
In Windows 7 and in the Toshiba Conf. Panel the loudness is on max. level, but the sound is too quiet.
Perhaps Toshiba is estimating all users are using the headset ?
Thanks

This Libretto is an kind of tablet PC an small 7 display device I dont know what speaker loudness do you expect but you will not get the same loudness like on 15 notebook equipped with bigger speakers.
Furthermore the speakers are mono and not stereo.
By the way; the sound can be configured in control panel -> sound
Check if all volume controls are set to top.

• Lg cosmos 2 downloaded music is too quiet

What could be the problem with music being too quiet, and how do I fix it? I literally can barely hear it when I put my ear right next to the phone.
Thank you.

Hi.
Thanks for replying. I received the phone in October; just had it replaced a couple of weeks ago because it wasn't holding a charge. Both phones do the same. No protective case or cover. Ring tones are nice and loud, phone "voice" is fine, I can hear my callers with no problem. It's just the downloaded music that is so soft I can barely hear it. I even tried moving a ring tone that was proven over to music folder to see what would happen. It was soft there as well. I've looked online for ideas but haven't found any help.

• Optical SPDIF output stopped working- why?

I recently installed a larger HD and more RAM in my 1.63MHz Mini. After getting buttoned back up I noticed the optical SPDIF output stopped working (as in NO laser visible). Is there any possibility that this could be related to the OS (10.5.8)? Seems unlikely since it was fine before installation.
I really need this as it is my only option for interfacing with my playback system.

Hi Rich,
Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.

• Audio clips too quiet at max volume

After putting audio from STP into an FCP project, some friends and I turned the volume all the way up in the audio editor window. Even after doing that, however, it's still way too quiet. Is there any other way to raise the volume so that the audio is loud enough?
iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7) 1.42 GHz Power PC G4 1GB DDR SDRAM

I have never liked that "duplicate the track" to make it louder method. When you duplicate the track, you're also duplicating the noise floor, making the background noise twice as loud, too.
If you've got the audio track open in Soundtrack Pro, use the compression plugin, or dynamics, or whatever they call it in Soundtrack (I use Cubase). Use that to bring the level up. What you'll also get with the compression plugins (not the same as video compression, don't worry about that) is it will bring the low level audio up and the high level audio down to even it out. It won't raise the noise floor as much because when audio drops below a certain level (set this right ABOVE your noise floor/room noise) it stops raising the low level audio. That way you have a more even level throughout the track. How does the mix of the announcers on the NFL on FOX always sound so good when it's live? Compression. Keep your levels in check.
So use the compression plugins to even out your sound, maxing out at about -1db. Export it.
Now, import that track into FCP and bring the level DOWN to -12ish.
Much cleaner and audio way of raising levels. Duplicating the clip to make it louder is not the way an audio facility would do it. It's a quick video guy way of doing it. It does the job, but not well.

• Howto enable spdif output through the combo ja

I have an Audigy model #sb0090
I am running Vista Home Premium
I am connecting this computer to my Dolby 5. receiver.
Creative Vista drivers are installed and reporting no errors.
On the back of the Audigy card there is a digital output jack labeled: "digital out or 3"
I purchased the Digital IO Module from:
http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=6&product=780
When I plug it in, I don't get audio from either the coax or the optical outputs. I have enabled spdif output in the OS. I also have a daughter board model# ct4660 (from an older sound blaster li've) that I can connect to the audigy via a ribbon cable. The ct4660 also has a coax output. When I use this, the Dolby Digital output is sent to the receiver and everything works. The problem is, I don't have room in the case for the ct4660 which takes up an extra pci slot. How do I tell the card to send digital out to the "digital out or 3" output on the Audigy?
Thanks for the help...

I went out and purchased a new Audigy SE. Using the IO module, I now am able to get Dolby Digital sound from digital sources such as DVDs and ATSC television. I do not get any other sound such as Windows sounds and music. In the Audigy speaker properties on Vista, the "Digital Output Only" checkbox is not checked. How do I get all sound to output via the spdif output?

• The music on my iPod plays at normal volume but the voices are too quiet to hear

My iPod just started to play music at normal volume but the voices are too quiet to hear

If you confirmed it is not due to a problem with the headphones
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

• Audigy 2 SPDIF output - again, asking for any help.

Some time ago I asked question about my Audigy 2:
[size="">Hi, I am using Audigy 2 soundcard connected to Altec Lansing ADA885 speakers. These speakers have built-in Dolby Digital Decoder, and of course SPDIF input for this. Additionally, they have inputs for analog front and rear speakers signal. They can be switched to different operation modes : Dolby Digital decoding, Dolby ProLogic decoding, stereo, and quad modes. I have connected them to my Audigy 2 using analog connections, and also digital output. The problem is, that they process both kind of inputs (analog and digital) all the time in most modes simultaneously. For example, when I set them to "quad" mode (for gaming) they process analog signal that Audigy deli'vers them, but also they attempt to decode the signal from digital input. This produces some kind of phase distortions (basses dissappear and the sound becomes slightly muffled). Possible solutions could be : - disable digital decoding in speakers when using analog output from Audigy - this can't be done, these speakers' decoder is not configurable, - disconnect digital cable when using analog output from Audigy - obvious solution, however not very comfortable - disable "ON-DEMAND" spdif output on Audigy card and enable it when necessary. This would be most satisfying option for me. But.... is it possible at all ? Just something similar to the "Digital output only" setting in soundcard panel, but in my case i'd like to have an option of "Analog outputs only". Thanks in advance for any help Greetings, Martin
No-one answered me, unfortunately
Yesterday I moved to Vista Ultimate and newest set of Creative Drivers.
To my surprise, there is an option of SPDIF output volume and mute in system mixer. However, it also doesn't work.
Can anyone confirm, if I can mute digital output whenever I want ?
Best regards,
Martin

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing such pain with this card.
After 3 connectors, I have my SPDIF of my Audigy 2 ZS connected to my Recei'ver and passing sound. However, it is NOT passing the 5. AC3/DTS stream. Playing a movie through Media Center 2005, if Dolby Digital 5. is selected, I hear the movie, but the Recei'ver does not indicate it is in Dolby Digital (like when I play it through my standalone DVD Player). When selecting DTS in the Audio Options of the DVD Menu, I hear no sound at all.
I have a minijack to RCA Stereo connector with a Digial Coax cable going from the White connector to my Recei'ver Digital Coax Input.
I have set the Device Decoding Options for SPDIF Passthrough.
What am I missing? This is going on a week now to get something going that worked right out of the box with a $40 DVD Player. And the $40 DVD Player sounds better than this $00 sound card....because it passes the AC3 stream flawlessly.

• 6710 Navigator - Loudspeaker too quiet

The loudspeaker is ok in a quiet room with no background noise but you can't use it outside or while driving (i.e. places you actually NEED it) as it is way too quiet (yes the volume is turned all the way up!). This is not right. Other Nokia phones have way louder loudspeakers. All the music and video plays loudly at an audible volume but voice calls are useless.
Nokia Care have had the phone three times and can't fix it. They just keep saying the loudspeaker is working... Yeah it is "working" but it is not practical to use.
Very frustrated. All Nokia needs to do is put out a firmware update to resolve this. Its called a LOUDspeaker not a QUIETspeaker.
Anyone else had any luck?

Exactly the same issue here! Fully updated firmware. The loudspeaker is ok in a quiet room with no noise but you can't use it outside or while driving as it is way too quiet. All the music plays loudly at an audible volume but voice calls are useless.

• Audigy 2 ZS spdif output prob

I've recently installed an Audigy 2 ZS into my new PC. I can get sound out through headphones - from CD and DVD. I've connected the spdif out jack to my surround sound decoder - this all worked fine on my old PC with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card. Now on the new PC with the Audigy, I can't get any sound out of the spdif connection. I've set PowerDVD to spdif output and the card setting to spdif passthru as per the instruction in this forum but still nothing.
What can I expect to get out of the spdif connection ? From what I've read, it's clear that I should be able to get Dolby Digital and that I can't get sound from games. What about CDs and mp3s etc . ?
Thanks in advance for help / info / suggestion ...

More details :
"Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" is checked

"Use SPDIF" is selected in PowerDVD

"SPDIF Passthru" is selected in Creative Audio Console

From what I've read on this forum, that ought to do the trick. I've got a stereo minijack to left-right RCA and have tried both sides. No signal that my pre-amp can recognise.
Help !?

• Cannot get 5.1 sound using Audigy 2, SPDIF output, coaxial cable, Digital/DTS recei

I'm having trouble getting my receiver to play 5. sourround signals from my Audigy 2. The receiver has all the required decoding options (DTS, Dolby Digital, etc.), I have a coaxial digital connection from the Audigy to the receiver, I've selected "Digital Output only" and set the Audigy to bypass the ac3 decoder (SPDIF output). However, the receiver only ever detects the front left and right channels. I've tried lots of tweaking (speakers settings, decoder settings), but still cannot get a multi-speaker sound.
If I'm using the Audigy's built-in ProLogic system to simulate 5. output from standard stereo sources (wav, mp3, etc.), should this not result in a 5. signal being transmitted to the receiver over the coaxial digital cable? Still, no luck when I try this.
I've read that it's not possible for the Audigy to transmit 5. signals over the digital output -- it can only decode them and pipe them to the analog 6-speaker outputs. Is this true?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Patrick

I have a KT6V motherboard and I can not get the SPDIF output to work. I have change the speaker config countless times, I have found and adjusted the volume control for this output but still nothing.
