Toshiba 32 inch Insignia Sound Bar

Recently I purchased a Toshiba TV, after discovering it only had a strange looking "optical audio output" plug. I realized that traditional hook-up to a sound bar with "RCA" jacks would be impossible without a converter. I would like for someone
to advise me exactly what I need, and exactly what I need to ask for so that I can enjoy both purchases, please! Thank you in advance.

Can't connect HW-F450 Sound bar to Toshiba 55VL900A

Hi,
I am trying to connect a Samy HW-F450 Sound bar to my Toshiba 55VL900A with a HDMI cable.
Not sure what i am doing wrong have tried the ARC slot and the ordinary HMDI out slots.
It seems to be almost connected but no sound at all.
I'm slowly going insane pls help.

MichaelJ71, I have downloaded the manual for both your Toshiba 55VL900A and your Samsun sound bar, and on page 13 of your Samy manual, it mentions connecting to the TV with either audio or optical input (which I personally have tried with our 32RL900A, and found quite satisfactory),
so I would suggest that would be the easiest way to connect your two devices.
A visit to your nearest Jaycar will enable the purchase of the required Optical cable to do the job, at a reasonable price.
Let us know how it all turns out, this makes people feel that their advice is appreciated

Toshiba 32 XV505 optical out and sound bar

Hi guys, wonder if you can help.
I have a toshiba XV505 TV and I've just bought a Cambridge Audio TV minx sound bar, it works fine with a headphone cable from the TV but for best quality sound I wanted to use an optical out cable. But when plugging in the optical cable I get nothing, I've tried the optical cable with the DVD player and it works fine so the cable is good. Is this some type of restriction with the TV that it can't output the sound?
I can't find a setting in the menu where I'd need to enable it. Can anybody help?

nothing to do with Midi Setup, the issue is Hardware level, when hdmi is plugged there is no way to get out signal from optical out. (no red light). Even with hdmi to dvi converter.
I just bought a none official MDP to DVI adapter, hoping it works.... just paid about 8$. But I think it's a shame to make users find own solutions and spend even more money, after spendig 1000€ in a Mac mini.......
That's not the way to do things, they made a big mistake with that, no way to get optical sound, im going to try this last trick, but even if it works im totally disappointed with apple. After more than two months Late 2012 mini come out, and no solution for this.... just an update we need!!

Would Toshiba SBX4250 Sound Bar work in Europe?

I am moving to Europe pretty soon. Just wondering if SBX4250 sound bar would work there (220v / 50Hz) without a transformer.

Is this a new hard drive or a used hard drive with someone else's operating system on it (from an iBook G4, perhaps)?
You likely need to use an OS Install disc or the Restore CD's that originally came with the iBook to Erase and Install and/or Restore the OS and applications to make it compatible with your G3 iBook. When erasing, choose to format the hard drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

IMac and LG Sound Bar

I have a late 2012 iMac 27-inch. I have an LG Sound bar that I want to use with the Mac for watching movies and playing music etc. I have paired the sound bar with the Mac via Bluetooth, it pairs fine and the sound comes through. However, the sound is not in sync with whats on the screen. When I used the sound bar on the tv I was able to access the menu and adjust sync etc either through the TV or the sound bar but the sound bar menu does not come up on the Mac screen when paired (I'm not surprised by this, I didn't expect it to). Any advice on syncing sound on an iMac or how to do it another way? Any help much appreciated!

This site covers JP1 programming, which is the connector in the battery compartment:http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/ I don't know if there is an existing code that may work, and you could do some key mapping to put the codes on the volume keys. Othewise, you would have to add your own upgrade using a JP1.x cable. You can ask on the forums to see if anyone knows something. I didn't see an obvious upgrade in the files section. Some of the more advanced people can use files from other remotes to create upgrades.

How to connet Toshiba SBZ 1520 3d sound bar to my REGZA 42XV540U tv ? Use optical cable?

I also have a sound bar that I wanted to connect to my Toshiba 42XV540U and it came with a digital optical cable to use. The digital optical cable will not stay in the digital audio out port on the back of the TV. I can put it in there (doesn't "lock" into place though) and it will stay for a minute, but fall out if moved at all. It is the correct type of digital cable to use with the TV (regular digital optical cable not mini). When I plug one end of it into the back of the sound bar, it makes a "click" and locks in. It does not do that on the back of the TV. It is almost as if the digital audio out port/connection is not made correctly on the TV. The sound bar is a Vizio S3820W-C0. The sound bar did come with regular audio cables as well, but then if I use that it defeats the purpose of having a Dolby Digital sound bar speaker. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

SBX4250KN SOUND BAR

Have connected the Toshiba Sound Bar to a Toshiba TV, but it doesn't seem one can combine the two onto the same Toshiba remote control, despite Toshiba being the manufacturer of both. I would have thought enabling HDMI Control on the TV and the CEC button on the Sound Bar would do the trick, but no luck.. If the CEC button doesn't allow to sync with its own TV, no idea what it could sync with. There got to be a way to make this work.

This can be successful in resolving this issue. Shut down the PC, remove the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Now hold the power button down for a good 30 seconds. Now re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the PC.

42SL417U with Vizio Sound Bar

I have a Toshiba 42SL417U flat screen TV with a Vizio VSB200 Sound Bar. Everything is working correctly. However, I would like to control the sound bar volume with the Toshiba remote (CT-90366). I cannot find the code to enter on the Toshiba remote to control the Vizio sound bar. The Toshiba user manual does not contain codes for a Vizio sound bar. The Vizio user manual provided a code of 1517 for use with a Vizio TV remote. However, that code doesn't work for the Toshiba TV/Remote. Any other ideas?

Hadrian98 - Can you find a code that turns the Vizio soundbar on/off while you are searching for the code? That is what alerts you that you have found a correct code. To actually make it work, you need a couple more steps. You need to program code 955 to change the default from ALWAYS controlling the TV to another option. You need to add the Vizio to the power control list ( att/ok - 977 - list all your modes - enter). Some sound bars can be programmed to accept other IR to control them. That is, apply the TV volume IR to the Vizio to make it seamless. If you cannot get a compatiblity - You can program the u-verse remote to follow the mode selection, instead of always controling the TV (att/ok - 955 - enter). Then, while in att mode (i.e. normal watching the volume button will control the STB). Set the STB volume down to 15.Set the TV volume to a comfortable level.Set the Vizio volume to a comfortable level. While watching, in att mode, the volume control will vary what you hear from either the TV or the VIzio. Whichever audio is on. Sound Bar connection

I have a 32c110u in my 5th wheel trailer (RV). It has red and white RCA plugs labeled "Audio Out." I am attempting to hook up a sound bar that uses RCA connectors. Upon plugging to the TV connections, the TV emits a clicking noise. Any clue? is this a non-standard addition to the TV? Can anything be done to salvage this?

I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work). "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon.

How can I connect my new LG Sound Bar NB 3531A with my MacBook Pro Mid 2010 via Bluetooth

Hey,
bought a new sound bar and want to connect it to my MacBook Pro. When start pairing an error shows up telling me to check the Bluetooth range and so on. When I try to connect without a code (0000) there is a connection but it´s not possible to use the bar as a stereo headset in the bluetooth menue.
The Sound Bar should be ready to play because I can use it with my iPhone and on Win-notebooks.B
There are no system-updates availabe and I´m using OSX 10.8.4. Can someone help?

It seems that my bluetooth driver crashed or anything. Tried it with an other MacBook and worked fine. Called the Apple- and LG-Support.
The Apple-Supporter told my to reinstall my OS X. Crashed. I´ll start a complete new installation today.

The genuine Apple adapter works for me, most cheap knockoffs do not support sound ,it is usually in the micro print at bottom of the ebay offerring
It is pricey by comparison but it works and the knock offs usually don't pay the patent licence fee hence they guess the technology that is in the lightning plug
and charge a minimal price

How to setup a sound bar on LED TV 42SL417U

So I've been trying to figure out how to setup a sound bar that uses AUX Left and Right cables onto my LED TV 42SL417U. I've been trying to connect the cables into every possible port on the TV and nothing works. What do I do???

What make/model of sound bar are you trying to connect?
The only "outputs" for sound to an external device from this TV are the Optical and HDMI connections. Page 18 and 19 of the Owners Manual talk about connecting to an external audio source.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device. Have you gone through ALL of these troubleshooting steps?
If you have gone through all the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

Problem connecting Apple TV2 to projector when passing through Sony Sound Bar

I'm having problems getting my Apple TV2 to work now that I'm passing it through my new Sony HT-CT150 Sound Bar to my Epson Megaplex Projector MG-850 (720p) Projector. I keep getting a "Not Supported" error on my projector - as opposed to a "No Signal" error which is what happens if I was to unplug the Apple TV.
My HDMI cables are all new and latest specs. I can connect the Apple TV directly to projector with either cable and it works fine. I have a 6 ft HDMI connecting the Apple TV to one of the Sony Sound Bar's 3 HDMI inputs and then a 40 ft. HDMI running from the sound bar's HDMI out to the projector's single HDMI input. Oddly, if I reverse the cables, it seems to work. Same two cables - just switching which one is connected to the Apple TV and which is connected to the projector. (I need the length to get to where my projector is positioned. Though I might be able to get by with a 30 ft. cable if length might be the issue.)
Anyway I think it must have something to do with the HDMI handshake or the lenth of the cables but don't know enough about it and have no idea why switching which cable comes first would fix the problem.

Ok, I will ask the question in another way... My apple tv has one hdmi, and it goes to my hd projecter.. But projecter has no speakers, and as a result I've no sound at the moment. I am looking for a clear direction to go in, to solve lack the of any sound.. My only option seems to be, using the optical out from the apple tv.. I don't have any equipment with this conecter. And I've never used optical before.. If i buy an, optical to twin phono converter and then I can plug into a large powered speaker I've got in my living room. And I will have big sound easily..?? Do I have any other reasonable options for optical enabled speakers, or AirPlay speakers or something simple I'm not aware of that will give me sound easily.. I don't want a messy 5:1 system, my house is very tidy, and I want to keep it that way. . Only having this optical out is frustrating, and I need to get my head round the options I have. Anyone understand from experience how to use the optical apple tv out. Also, not using anything but apple tv, no dvds, or tv , just apple tv and my ipad.. Is very quiet in my home right now though.
