Toshiba 32AV933G: unsupported media error caused by subtitles

Hello.
I am having some trouble with this media player of my toshiba bedroom tv.
More specific sometimes while the media plays at some time the audio stops, after a few seconds the tv becomes unresponsive while playing only the video and finally it gets me back to the video folder with an `unsupported media`error.
After a lot of troubleshooting _i finally came to the solution._
_The problem is caused by the subtitles._
I am in greece so for sure this happens with greek subs.
If for example the subs have a line and the line starts with( ( i ) * that is bold subtitle) this problem will occur.
If i remove the bold from the subs there is no problem at all.
Obviously bold etc is not supported.
I think this could be easilly fixed via a firmware upgrade.
*i have put ( i ) which is not the correct form because the correct one that starts and ends with < is not shown in the message:)

Yes of course. Without utf-8 the srt doesnt work at all with greek language.
However the problem remains.
As i said tried a lot of things. First of all i thought it was the video encode etc.
*Finally i came to the solution.*
If in the text file of the subs(srt) there are special tags in the beginning of the line like the ones i wrote before the video doesnt work ok.
If i delete this special tags using a text editor it is working ok.
Surely there is a problem with <i)> tag that is i think for potitioning the subs.
Of course i can spent one minute to fix every sub file, it is not difficult.
But i dont think its a problem that cant be solved easily with a firmware upgrade..
Ps after further testing the <i)> flag in front of a line and </i)> in the end makes the player to stop playing the video. The bold flags <b)> and </b)> dont make the video to halt.
However the subs dont display correct for about one minute after the bolded sub.
If they could just make a firmware that completely ignores these flags i think it would solve the problem..

  • PGC error caused by subtitles

    I went to build a project and got the "PGC has an error at" error.  After re-encoding all the assets on the timeline and re-importing into Encore it built fine UNTIL i added the subtitles back into the mix.  I went to the time it said it had an error and just deleted the subtitle there and tried to output again, same error but different timecode.  If I delete the subtitle that occurs at each error it progresses BUT this isn't really a solution. I could deal with a couple deletions, not this many.
    Is there any actual fix to this issue?  Or suggestions (rebuild from scratch?)?  Very frustrating.
    The timeline has 3 audio tracks (DD 2.0 192k), not sure if that is a contributing factor.
    I'm using Encore 5.1 (CS5.5).
    thanks
    Ryan

    For what it's worth, here's what solved the problem for me.
    I have a DVD project, one timeline with one video track and one audio track, both rendered to .m2v and .ac3 in Compressor on Mac.
    I'm working on PC on Encore CS 5.1.
    A couple of months after releasing my DVD I had to come back and redo another edition with minor changes, so I just replace the assets on my timeline expecting it will work. Then I get the dreaded PGC error....
    After messing up with any possible part of the project I could think of and eventually redoing a whole timeline, I realize the problem is coming from my subtitles (I have 10 subtitle tracks), and finally find out that the problem is coming from one of the subtitle tracks in particular.
    And more specifically from these lines :
    00:52:50:01 00:52:52:07 No fue lo primero que elegimos.
    Cuando nos decidimos por el mulch,
    00:52:52:07 00:52:54:15 hay muchas otras maneras
    de crear una capa de mulch
    The first line here ends at the same time at the second line starts. I changed the start of the second line to 00:52:52:08 and it compiled fine.
    Now, keep in mind that this is a project that I had successfully compiled in the past, just reopened after a couple of months without changing anything to it, and it didn't work anymore.
    I can't imagine anyone from Adobe is paying much attention to these threads, but it would be nice if errors were a tad more descriptive... I spent a week working on this one. How about "subtitles overlap at hh:mm:ss on track n"?
    Anyway, I hope this helps someone.

    Since it is reporting that "Vendor: TOSHIBA" I would venture to guess it is a bad DVD drive.
    Is the system up and running? If so remove the disk from the drive and see if it stops. Replace the drive if it does.

  • R1800 from Aperture - discrepancies in settings causing "media errors"

    After upgrade to SL i have been having some issues with printing to R1800 - i consistently get "media errors" when trying to print edge to edge on some media types.
    Aperture and the epson print drivers do not seem to play together well... in most cases when you modify the default paper to say 4*6 sheet feed no border it switches to roll paper feed which in my case is always empty - hence the error messages about out of media...
    You can see the incorrect setting once you have set all your prefs in the print dialog when you go back to the print settings dropdown (under printer selection on my window) and select print settings... for certain paper selections (in my case) A4/sheet/borderless + 6*6/Sheet/borderless all end up with "roll paper borderless" which means i get the "media error".
    Can anyone else confirm this issue, and if so is there any clue as to whether this is an Aperture issue or an Epson driver issue.

    Can anyone else confirm this issue.
    I have been able to print edge to edge on 4*6 and A4 from Photoshop and iPhoto so i suspect this is an issue with Aperture.

  • Stage 4 Multiplexing - Media error in Power calibration 0x73,0x03

    Try to burn a DVD the project I made.  Everything is fine until it goes to stage 4 Multiplexing & Burning  - the system shows a Media Error in the Power Calibration  0x73,0x03 when this come up it will eject the dvd.  I never had a problem like this. System always worked fine.  Any help on this?  Thank you, John

    Hi
    As I remember it - it used to be when using Cheap Brands of DVDs e.g. Memorex or NoName ec.
    Else
    Multiplexing Error
    Multiplexing error is a very complex problem due to many things (long long list following) - one common but not obvious reason is that material on the iDVD menu goes outside the TV-Safe area (or just touching it).
    So first - turn on TV-Safe area and move any object well inside of this.
    Wide screen stretched - usually (as I think) it is due to making a 4x3 movie in a 16x9 wide-screen project OR the other way around. This forces one to on flat-screen TV (or other) set the presenting view right - My has 4x3, wide-screen, zoom and auto-wide-screen and I have to switch this by my remote for some DVD I've made "wrong" way.
    Now my long long list on Multiplex Error
    LONG LONG LONG LIST
    Multiplexing Error
    PART One.
    Use of strange video/audio material e.g. .avi, .wmv, .mp3 etc.
    I only use.
    Video - StreamingDV (miniDV tape via FireWire) and
    Audio - .aiff (as on audio-CDs) (else converted to this .aiff 48KHz)
    Photo - .jpg (.bmp known problematic)
    Chapters !
    A.    Using strange letters in video project name e.g. +,/; etc. keep to a-z and 0-9 strange letters in project name e.g. +
    as described by Donnyboy69.  Does the title of your project have any symbols or decimal points in it. If so, that is why you are getting the error. I had a project that had a + sign which caused the same problem. I renamed it without the symbol and low and behold, it worked.
    B.    Location of Chapters
    • Can’t be at start or end of movie (Skip first/start one - iDVD sets this by it self. At the End - no need)
    • Not in a transition (or within 2-3 seconds from it)
    Important when from iMovie HD6 or previous - Now also observed when using FCE 4

    Multiplex Error
    Chuck, Chicago 2/7/2009.
    Back again. Here is what I have found to work. I also have and use a LaCie DVD-R/RW DL external drive and a LaCie external hard drive as well. Since yesterday I have tried a few ways to burn a themed iDVD project having four 56 minute movies on it, amounting to 226 minutes onto a DVD DL disc, capacity 240 minutes. Apple tech support really didn't know what to do but gave me a very good tip. I had two options left. Apple tech support's tip was to try disc image. One of the replies on a thread with this subject said not to, but my experience today is good. Put your project onto "Burn to disc image," under "iDVD, file." Yesterday encoding took me 23 1/2 hours. Overnight for iDVD disc image, encoding took 21 1/2 hours (again) while I slept. This morning I tried to copy/burn disc image to a DVD with Roxio Toast 7, and it stopped near the end of the burn with some kind of "error" message. So then I tried Utilities> Disc Utility> Burn icon, and followed it through. Be sure to click the DVD DL drive in the window "Burn disc in.". I had one other problem though. At the end of a 46 minute copy, it started to verify, and at the end of verify it rejected the burn. So I tried again, and when "verify" appeared, I clicked on "Skip." The disc finished burning and is doing fine and well. A long and tortuous process, but at last something works. I made several additional copies using Disc Utility. Best wishes. Chuck, Chicago.

    (Not a 'guy' but I will answer!)
    First, I do not think that mixing wide-screen and standard makes a difference in iDVD.
    Second, you should use a better brand of DVD disk. Also, many of us have experienced fewer problems on playback with DVD-R disks. Recommended brands here are Verbatim, Maxell and Taiyo Yuden. Memorex and TDK are not consistent and may not give you a correct burn. They apparently have fewer layers in the composition of the disk. I have always used Verbatim DVD-R disks and have not had any burn problems.
    Also, choose a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
    Third, to determine if the iDVD project will burn properly, create a disk image file (from within iDVD, go File->Save as Disk Image) and test it. Mount the disk image and then open DVD Player (in Applications) and view your project. If it plays correctly, you can then burn the actual DVD disk from the disk image file using Disk Utility.

    I did everything I've seen suggested, but a friend (who used to be an Apple Genius) suggested that I do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on gray background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
    It worked, and I got a clean burn from iDVD.
    Hopefully this can help other people.

    Well, I finally got it, and it was odd enough to post here incase anyone looks this topic up again. Many things were tried, including burning the unedited film, the edited film without titles and chapter markers, abbreviating the chapter markers in case length was the issue (remember the old iMovie used to truncate them when moving to iDVD?). In the process, I noticed that one, and only one, chapter marker was on the same line as the title marker. All the others were on the line above. The only way I seemed able to change that was to clip a few seconds of film. After that last clip, the offending marker took a place on the line above, as were all the others. That run published, compiled completely and burned. That's one for the books.
    One user more writes
    To add my experience with Multiplex Errors using iDVD (7.0.4), I recently created two iDVD projects
    Video from both passed from FCE 4.01 with chapters
    One project worked fine in creating disk image file
    The other gave Multiplex Errors
    I tried suggestions to remove special characters and no chapter marks at beginning, but nothing worked
    Note that I've used iDVD for dozens of projects and this is first time I've run into Multiplex Errors
    Anyway, for problem project, I tried an experiment where I removed all chapters in FCE and passed to new iDVD project
    This time multiplex errors gone
    So had something to do with chapters
    So now I tried numerous experiments to remove individual chapters and try again creating disk image with new iDVD project
    After numerous tries, I was able to narrow problem down to 1 "Bad" chapter mark
    That is, when I left the "bad" chapter in my FCE project and passed to iDVD, iDVD gave multiplex error
    When I removed "bad" chapter mark (and others in), no multiplex error
    As a final experiment, I moved "bad" chapter mark about 5-10 sec's beyond original point and passed to iDVD, the multiplex errors now magically went away and I was able to finally create my disk image.
    I have no idea why this worked, but thought I'd mention here in case someone else runs into similar problem.

    In addition to Bengt's fine advice, burning errors can occur if you have located any of your menu buttons wholly or partly outside of the safe TV viewing area. Go to your main project menu, then click on View/Show TV Safe Area, to check. Drag into the safe viewing area any buttons that are outside the safe viewing area.
    Russ One - suggest this
    Multiplex Error-There was an error during muxing preparation
    One thing that worked for me was to export the video w/o chapter markers as a self contained movie (thereby not loosing the edits & etc). Then make a new FCE project and import that movie into a new sequence and add the chapter markers. I've used "-", "&" and "," with no problem in the chapter names. Removing the markers or exporting without them did solve the problem but renaming them with just numbers 1,2,3....5, did not solve the problem and since this problem seems to happen with with iMovie as well, it would suggest the problem is in the video or audio and in combination with the chapter markers iDVD just can't handle it. The only other possibility is that both iMovie and FCE share the same or similar chapter marker code that some how is corrupting the markers.
    Summary - What to try
    1. Chapters
    • Only A to Z and 0 to 9 in chapter title
    • No Chapter mark at very beginning of movie
    • No Chapter mark in or within 2 seconds from any transition in movie
    2. TV-safe area for buttons (no one outside this)
    3. Safe re-boot
    4. No other external devices connected - that are not needed
    SDMacuser adds to this
    • On #4 ... No ext. devices. Some think this applies mainly to ext. FW. Not the case. Also applies to ext. USB2 as well (not to mention flash drives too).
    Do not leave 3rd party devices / camera / camcorder plugged in unless it is being used with iDvd's One Step process. Certain web cams can trigger this also (especially ones with added features like LED light/s that draw additional power from the FW or USB bus).
    5. Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-up hard disk
    6. Make a DiskImage first - reduces where problem originates
    7. Trash iDVD pref. file
    8. Make a new iDVD project
    9. Movies in project with same aspect ratio e.g. 4x3 or 16x9
    10. No other programs/applications running during iDVD process. e.g. Internet, screen & energy savers

  • FCP X not reading camera archives (Unsupported Media, Invalid Directory)

    I shot a documentary in May of 2012 and imported the media everytime a card would fill up or at the end of the shoot day. I also created a Camera Archive for each card (we shot Sony PMW-F3 and PMW-EX1). A few clips have gone missing and when I plug in my back-up drive to reconnect the media, FCP X gives me a warning reading "unsupported media or has invalid media directory." I've moved the archives onto my editing RAID and got the same error message. I've trashed all my preferences and tried again - same error message. I then trashed my preferences, deleted the program entirely and redownloaded from the Mac App Store and tried again - same error message.
    Has anyone seen this error message before? Any resolution?

    Very strange: I plugged the drive into my laptop (MacBook Air, 2011) and the same version on FCP X (10.0.5) was able to read the archives. Not sure what the difference is between my two setups, thankful it worked, now want to know why my MacPro won't read it.

  • HTTP 415 Unsupported Media Type with SOAP adapter trying to put SOAP header

    Hello,
    I am trying to put data into soap header using soap receiver adapter. Seems like building the complete soap message is the right way to go. Thus I wrote a java program to build the complete soap message (soap envelop, soap header and soap body which contains the message PI received from the sender). Mapping program works well. However when I ran the scenario, I got Error "SOAP: response message contains an error XIAdapter/HTTP/ADAPTER.HTTP_EXCEPTION - HTTP 415 Unsupported Media Type" when calling the receiver's web service (the SOAP receiver adapter CC have the "Do Not use SOAP Envelop" checked). Anyone knows why I got this error? From google, seems like this error is because the http's content-type is set to other type, rather than "text/xml". However in soap CC there is no option to control this.
    The message sent to the receiver is (after mapping);
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <SOAP-ENV:Header>
    <SOAP-SEC:Signature xmlns:SOAP-SEC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/security/2000-12" MyAttr="value">My Test Value</SOAP-SEC:Signature>
    </SOAP-ENV:Header>
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <ns1:UpdateEquipment xmlns:ns1="http://mycomp.com/mywebservice">
    <ns1:EquipmentNumber>000000012345</ns1:EquipmentNumber>
    <ns1:LicensePlate>654321</ns1:LicensePlate>
    </ns1:UpdateEquipment>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    Anyone can help?
    Thanks

    When you check "Do Not use SOAP Envelop", the SOAP adapter chooses application/xml instead of text/xml.
    You can change the content type with help of the MessageTransformBean. You put the bean in the module chain of the receiver channel and add the parameter Transform.ContentType = text/xml

    The error definitely says request sent by the client especially the content-type header is not a valid one. Check this trace and ask them to change accordingly:

        10:19:53 A_T:  writing marker label; here it is:

    Judging by the transcript snips that you provided, I also believe that this is caused by a bad drive or bad media.
    Start by looking at the output of the command :
      # obtool dumpdev <tape_drive_name>
    (replace "<tape_drive_name>" by the name of the drive which was used during the failed job).
    Look for any errors or warnings during the date/time the backup job failed. These message usually provide a good idea about the problem that occurred.
    Next try the same backup using the same media in another drive to see it the problem reoccurs or not. In case the problem reoccurs, there's a good chance that the media is bad. If the backup succeeds on another drive, then try the same backup using the original drive but with a new media. If the backup fails again on the same drive using new media, you should open a support request with the tape drive vendor. In that case, collect the logs from the tape library (and dump the tape drives is possible).

  • QuickTime Player says its an unsupported media type

    Created a .mov file from iMovie 08. It will play just fine on any Windows PC if the file is local. When I try to stream it off the QTSS I get an error that it's an unsupported media type. I know I'm missing something simple. Suggestions are welcomes

    Yep...$30 bucks fixed my problem. Installed QuickTime Pro and export file as a hinted file fixed the issue.
