Toshiba 39l22u EDID bad?

I can't break past 1360 x 768 no matter what changes I made to the registry and how many times I uninstall and reinstall the ATI drivers on my windows 7 PC. All other connections like HDMI can display in 1080p well. Anyone have any suggestions?
I have a Radeon 4800 card, it runs great on any other monitor except this TV. When I override it to display 1360 x 768, the TV gives me an error message, "Unsupported video Signal."

Looking at the manual, the VGA resolution only goes up to 1360 x 768 on a 1080p TV? This is unacceptable. I might as well return the TV and look for another one

  • Toshiba 42AV500 EDID problem?

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba 42AV500 LCD television which is HD ready (1366x768 pixels).
I recently bought a computer (Intel NUC) that has only HDMI and DisplayPort output. I tried to connect the computer to the TV via HDMI (there is no DisplayPort input in the TV)  but then, where selecting resolution on the computer, it allows me to select either 720p or 1080p.
Both resolutions look horrible on the TV, and I understand that it is because the screen has to be scaled down (on 1080p), or streched (on 720p).
I understand that the problem is probably with the EDID the TV sends to the computer, which basically means that the TV is telling the computer that it supports either 1280x720 (720p) or 1920x1080 (1080p) instead of 1366x768 which is the native resolution of the TV...
I'm at a loss - do I seriously need to replace my TV because of this?
    Please help......
    T.R.

A PXE error means that the computer is trying to boot from the LAN port. Go into the Bios and check the computer's boot order. Make sure that the hard drive, usually abbreviated HDD, is the first boot device. If the hard drive is the first boot device and you are still getting the PXE error, this is because the computer is unable to boot from the hard drive. If this is the case, your best option is to reinstall the operating system. The bad news is that if you reinstall the OSyou will lose all of your data and files.

  • Brightness auto adjusting problem with Toshiba 39l22U.

I own a Toshiba 39 inch LED 60hz 1080p hdtv (Model 39l22u), and I've had nothing but problems for months. I bought it back in January of this year for 400$ at BB and I initially had no problem with it, I thought that once I figured out the best picture I'd be satisfied, so I never bothered to return it. My problem isn't the picture detail, it's actually really nice on Bluray movies. My problem is something else. The brightness sort of adjusts when you move your camera angle around in video games. Unfortunately not many own this tv and the ones that have it and reviewed it said it's fantastic and has no problems, not a single mention of this.
The overall brightness of the TV adjusts to what you're looking at in game. For example, looking down at a road on Grand Theft Auto V the road gets brighter and the sky gets darker, then when I look up the road gets a bit darker while the sky gets brighter. While driving in a car at fast speeds can be an eyesore because the camera is moving and the brightness is adjusting a lot. It's like the TV is auto adjusting the brightness for some reason.
I also had another problem, but I was able to solve it. Dark areas would dim when the camera's in motion then go back to normal when you stop moving the camera angle in games. This was solved by turning the brightness up and it disappeared. So naturally I thought that maybe by turning up or down on things like the backlight, contrast, gamma etc that maybe this would go away, but it's still there.
This TV doesn't have many extra settings when it comes to Picture. Aside from the basics you have Dynamic Contrast and Dynamic Lighting, nether of which cause this problem as it still happens when I turn both of these off. There's no energy saving feature aside from powering down when not in use for a period of time. I'm stumped here, ether my TV is faulty or there's some sort of auto brightness adjust built into the TV that you can't change. I've also tried every different setting in my Xbox 360's display settings, but it's still the same problem.
Unfortunately I can't find out much about this TV, only a few reviews in which people say the TV is great. Which makes me think my TV is faulty.
Is my TV faulty? Or Is there something that could be causing this? Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I'm unfamiliar with that problem. If you can't solve your issue and no one in the community can help, contact support to speak with a tech support agent at (800) 631-3811.

  • 39L22U as PC Monitor: Resolution Problem

I recently purchased the 39L22U model. I was using HDMI from my laptop and getting full 1920x1080 resolution. I added another HDMI device to my system and moved my laptop to the VGA(PC) port, but now the max resolution I can set is oddly 1360x768. Either it is the "Generic PnP Monitor" driver not detecting the TV's true capability or the TV not accepting input from VGA over 1360X768.
    Specs:
    HDMI 1: XBOX 360
    HDMI 2: PS3
VGA/PC: Asus Laptop, Nvidia 210M, Windows 7 Ultimate
I know for certain both the TV and Laptop support full 1080P as I Got 1080P over HDMI, but can't over VGA.

Yes, VGA cables are capable of 1080p and higher and the typical limiting factor is the graphics card of your computer. There are two drawbacks to VGA. First, it may be a tiny bit blurry since the signal has to be converted to analog and then back to digital (also the chance of interference). Secondly, it has no HDCP capabilities so you can't play HDCP content over a VGA cable.
Personally I always go with the digital cables over the analog cables."
What? You know anything about VGA? VGA Can output up to 2048×1536px.  1360 x 768 is not acceptable. Toshiba needs to fix this. I have this same issue too:

  • 39l22u no hdmi signal issue

I just bought the Toshiba 39l22u and am having an issue with hdmi not detecting a signal from my onkyo 709 a/v receiver in either hdmi port. I did plug an Apple TV into it directly and that works. I have an in wall hdmi cable which works fine with two different model LCD televisions. Running a new cable is not an option and there doesn't seem to be an issue with the other non-toshiba tv's. The tv is not the main, it is on a sub out that sits about 30 feet away in a workout area, but like I said the other tv's work fine. I would just use them but they are smaller than what I want for the space. Any ideas before I give up and return this tv for a different manufacturer?

  • BIOS Update for HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 CTO

I was just looking at the updates for my laptop and saw two BIOS updates here.  I was wondering which one actually applies to my particlular machine.   As one can see, one is a few months more recent than the other.  Does this mean that it has the fixes that the older one already employs?   If so, why list both when only the newst one is relevant?
Looking further into this, I took a look at the revision history (Previous Versions) for both and  they each list themselves as "Current".  One lists as  "F.29 Current 10-2013"  and the other "F.24 Current 02-2013".  So, which one is actually current?
Can anyone shed some light on this?   I can post more specific info about my machine upon request if that would help.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The one with the later date is more current. This is customary on computer manufacturer support websites. They will usually keep the last couple of versions up there with the latest one. Toshiba is particularly bad about never removing old versions of drivers and BIOS. And BIOS updates are cumulative. You can skip over to the latest one and all the updates in all the interim versions will be included. The files are labeled clearly as to their date of issue and that they only apply to models with Intel processors so it should be apparent you need to install the latest one and only of your machine has an Intel processor. If you need anything else let us know.

  • Cannot click radio buttons after Windows Updates

    Hello,
We approved the following Office updates back in December and since then, our users cannot click radio buttons in Word documents. This month, we pushed all updates stated in the following article:

We've also removed .exd files from users' computers and this still hasn't resolve our issue. This is critical for us as we use these documents across the entire organization. Please help!
I've tested this both on Office 2013 click-to-run and Office 2010 with the same results. 2013 is the latest version and I've deleted .exd for this as well, using Fix It, script and manually.

  • Satellite A500-14I - ATI CCC entry is missing

    Hi,
    I got a Toshiba Satellite A500-14l with a radeon mobility HD4650.
I replace Vista by Windows 7 in september 2009 (thank's to msdnaa), installed the latest driver I found. Few month pass, I decided to update my graphic driver. As you can see, there is no updated driver for Windows 764bit for my laptop model psam3e.
http://fr.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=FR give me ati driver 8.563.1.5 or 8.634.1
I wanted to try catalyst 10.7 (8.753) to use ati acceleration with vlc 1.1.1, so I cheat, I pretend my laptop was a L670-psk3ee to get a 8.712.2.1 version of catalyst.
That works great, and this is the only way i found to get an "almost" up-to-date driver. Then I installed the Hydravision from game.amd.com website (because it's not included in toshiba driver).
Now, the CCC entry in the right click is missing, and the hydravision tab is missing in CCC too. I never see this problem before, so if anyone have a idea...
    Thank's in advance.
    PS:
    * Using Windows 7 64bit, up-to-date, except ati driver due to toshiba policy.
    * ccc mean Catalyst control center. the shortcut in "all programs" runs fine.
    * Hydravision is a usefull tools to manage multi desk and display. As there is no entry in the CCC i can't configure it, but the multi-desk exe works fine too.
Everything runs fine on my computer (not the laptop), so I think the problem came from Toshiba driver (as AMD can't provide the generic one due to specific functionnality added by toshiba, like temperature monitoring & cie). So I'm interesting in the possibility to add CCC in the right-click menu, and add the Hydravision tab to CCC.
ps 2: I already desinstall - clean the registry - reinstall Ati driver & hydravision, it doesn't work.

Because it's solve bug and add feature ? Try to tell ati/nvidia & microsoft to stop updating theirs programs because it's useless, i'm sure they 'll have a good laught.
    By the way :
    10.7a : add AA in starcraft2.
10.7 : add gpu accelerationfor VLC
10.6: GPU acceleration of H.264 video content using Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Video De-blocking support, Mosquito noise reduction, Official support for OpenGL 4.0 and OpenGL 3.3
10.5 : Support for 120 Hz displays on the ATI Radeon HD 4000 Series and ATI Radeon HD 3000 Series
    10.4 : H.264 Level 5.1 support,
10.3: ATI Catalyst support for 3D Stereoscopic glasses (one day maybe, it'll be checked)
    Without forgetting all improvement...
So yes, it's not always necessary, but if you can update it times to times (ie when you reinstall windows), it's not a so bad idea...
The "official" driver for my laptop is a catalyst 9.11 like.
But the main matter is still the missing entries. I'll try to bypass toshiba driver, too bad for the warranty : i prefer to use a little more the GPU, and little les the CPU.

  • Satellite C55-A5300 64 bit Laptop Lousy Sound From Headphones

Purchased a Satellite C55-A5300 64 bit Laptop from Best Buy.Speakers work great, headphone sounds LOUSY.Tried 3 different headphones, then went back to Best Buy and tried headphones on floor model.Still lousy. It's not the headphones, or the jack.Downloaded updates for Windows 8.0 (but not 8.1).Downloaded relevent driver updates from Toshiba website. No improvement. The headphones icon does not even show up in the sound tab/Control Panel,or in the RealTek assistant software but the Speaker icon does.Going back to generic RealTek driver from RealTek website.Restarting my computer now.

I went back to Best Buy and tested headphones on the floor model of the computer I purchased. It has the exact same problem-LOUSY headphone sound.I can't believe Toshiba put out bad hardware-it has to be the RealTek driver, which is specific for this Toshiba laptop.I actually downloaded and installed the generic driver from the RealTek website, and suddenly the RealTek card was MISSING in the Device Manager list.So I reinstalled the Toshiba driver, and I'm back to square one.

  • Sound & Graphics Drivers not working for Qosmio F15R

I was granted this Laptop with nothing more than AC Adapter. I didn't need the information contained in it and didn't want to deal with its configuration issues either, so I started planning formatting it. Looking for model number label at the bottom found it says "Qosmio F15R". I couldn't found this model number at support website for drivers, closest model was F-15AV201, figured it out by watching its pictures in detailed specs documentation. Everything but Bluetooth seemed to be available, so I formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP3 and then downloaded all drivers. Touchpad, Ethernet, Wireless, Flash memory, TV-FM and DVD-RAM worked just fine. On the other hand Sound, Display and Modem didn't work at all.
While installing Sound driver I got this error message:
    http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5075/sounddriver.png
(it says: "couldn't find driver, reboot and reinstall")
After installing Display driver checked display adapter properties and found this:
    http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/5171/vga.png
(no information available and even scrolling on web browser is crappy)
After installing Modem driver realized it was not identified:
    http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4613/devicemanager.png
    (Sound, Display, unknown device, Modem)
I thought I was using drivers for wrong model, so I downloaded PC Wizard, a freeware that identifies hardware configuration:
    http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/6452/pcwizard.png
wich gave me chipset, processor, video card and-
    http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4121/soundr.png
    -sound card: 82801FB ICH6 AC'97.
I couldn't find any proper driver nor for sound nor display, so I tried a shareware, Everest:
    http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6199/everesth.png
wich showed me the same chipset, video card and sound card model numbers than PC Wizard.
I realized that chipset, and display model didn't match detailed specs documentation. I thought that hardware was not working properly, so I downloaded and installed a Linux distro (Kubuntu 9.10 RC i386), and fount out that display and sound were working just fine but I need it to work properly with Windows XP.
Can anyone tell me where can I get sound and display drivers (and even Bluetooth if possible) for this laptop? Thanks in advance. Regards.

I have the same problem with audio driver. I can send you the graphic driver that works with Qosmio F15R if you need. My email: [email protected] Toshiba is so bad in supporting with their products.

  • How fast is SATA controller in Portege R830?

    Hi,
I recently started to look for a SSD drive to improve my laptop's performance.
How fast is SATA controller in R830 - 3 or 6Gbps?
Is there any list of compatible devices?
    Thanks!
    R.

I just finally found some extra money I purchased OCZ Agility 3 240GB SSD.
And frankly speaking I'm a little disappointed.
Althoguh it's nice to boot up in 10-12s, I hardly see improvements in speed and access time.
I did all the tricks to improve SSD performance (installed latest Intel Rapid Storage drivers, disabled windows search, prefetch and defrag) and so far I see just a small differences in startup of Outlook and Live Mail programs. IE and other Office apps start almost in the same time - even Skype seems to be same responsive as with HDD.
    My final thoughts are:
    1. Toshiba *did really bad thing* not utilizing SATA III ports in Intel's controller (QM67 offers by default 3 and 6Gbps interfaces). I wouldn't be surprised with such thing in cheap Satellite models ... but hey guys - it's Portege! It should be no-compromise business laptop! Why performance of my SSD has to be limited to its 50-60%?!
    2. Default Hitachi 500Gig HDD is not that bad - I would even it's not much worse than SSD (really!)
    3. I'm happy that I didn't bought top-end model from Intel/Samsung/Crucial - I'd be even more disappointed.
For benchark fans (R/W speeds from AS-SSD):
    Seq: ~210/~220-230MB/s
    4k: 15-18/50MB/s
    4k-64Thrd: 130-150/200-220MB/s
    Acc.time: 0,14/0,33ms
    Score: 165/282
    Windows 7 SP1 64-bit - clean install
If you have any ideas how to get more power out of it, it'd be very grateful.

  • Portege Z30 - unable to enter bios setup

    Hi,
I am unable to enter the BIOS setup upon boot. Pressing F2 allows me to enter both master and HDD/SDD password (validation confirmed), but the screen freezes at the "Toshiba Setup Utility" graphics without any progress.
This problem started to appear quite suddenly, I did enter the BIOS setup several times before without any issue. The only change that happened as far as I know is a failed suspend/resume event.
My suspicion is that the laptop is now in the hi-speed boot regime. Can anyone confirm that? Is there any way to force it to normal boot at the boot time? I am running Linux so I cannot use the Windows utilities from Toshiba.

    > I am running Linux so I cannot use the Windows utilities from Toshiba.
Thats bad :( within the Toshiba HW Setup you would find a setting to change the boot speed option.
    > My suspicion is that the laptop is now in the hi-speed boot regime. Can anyone confirm that?
Hmm in my opinion if boot speed would be set to fast, you would not be able to press F2 and to input the BIOS password.
However, in other cases if boot mode was set to fast, you could enter the BIOS pressing firstly INS button and then F2 button
    Try it out.

  • Tecra Z50-A - Intel Rapid Storage Technology not working

    Dear,
We have purchased a lot of Toshiba Tecra Z50-A laptops with a Hybrid HDD (with SSD cache).
    The exact model:
    TECRA Z50-A
    PT544E-00D01TBT
We stage and re-partition the laptops via SCCM.
However, when installing all drivers and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software, I see that only rge HDD is used and no SSD partition with Intel RST.
    How can we enable this?
The problem is that the performance is incredibly bad.
The laptops are very slow even though the specs are good:
    i5-4200U CPU
    8GB RAM
    Windows 7 x64
Any idea how to enable this Intel RST?
In the BIOS I can't find any options for RAID as this needs to be enabled for RST to work.
    Thank you

Well, I have tried the the latest Intel RST drivers from the Toshiba site and from the Intel site as well.
When installing the driver from Intel I also have the Intel RST Control Center where you can view and change some settings.
From all the info I've gathered, there should be an "Accelerate" tab in the Intel RST Control Center but there isn't.
What ever I try, the performance of all our Toshiba laptops are bad. Very bad. (we have 100 +)
Every user who received a Toshiba complained about the performance.
Right now I am testing it with a different HDD (WD 320GB 7200rpm)... No difference.
Seriously, these laptop are the worst I've worked with in the last decade.

  • So i bought the new Excite Pro...

Well everything is great for the time being, BUT, i've heard/read that Toshiba have an awful support and the bootloader is locked and they don't give support in this subject is it true?
The only other negative thing about it it's the fact it gets somewhat hot, but i think it happens with every tablet when gaming / watching vids ?

Yeah i agree. toshiba support is bad
i bought excite write online because it was on sale and it suppose to be first table with tegra 4 system on chip whatever you call it.
tegra 4 led me to buy it. im somewhat infulence by nvidia graphic card. if you are gamer, you know what im talking about. anyway make long stroy short i found my tablet defective shortly after i recieved it.
i know stuff happen but it gave me bad impression about their product and bad customer support make it even worst.
i think many help desk guy were minority. you know movies make fun of them. there is nothing wrong with that.
im minority too. the thing is they are not very helpful. bind is trying to lead bind; keep transfering me make me think that they dont know what is going on; i think they are not very knowledgble about electronic device. asking me a question like did you drop the device make be believe they are trying not to help you. you know what im saying
overheating is bad something bound to be happen heat > cool>heat>cool = things break
it souldnt get hot unless it working its butts off. modern device should be able handle movie and game without getting hot
i seen many electronic go bad in couple years due to overheating by the time warranty run out
it's all money busniess many company cutting corners and dont make product propery. people like us fall for it
toshiba could be one of them. becareful toshiba is on my blacklist
