Toshiba 3TB Hard drive can't be read, need help

Model: DT01ACA300 3TB Sata 3 Internal Hard drive"The disk check could not be performed because Windows can't access the disk."
Speedfan reports that the fitness and the performance of the disk are both pretty high, almost 95%.
This means that it's connected and it doesn't have any internal damage.
"F:/ is not accessible. Access is denied." I think this means the drive is fine, but something weird is preventing it from working. So the drive is connected and is registered with the system, but I can't view any files and it says it's not accessible. It's very important to me not to lose any data, so what do I do to restore it back to working order? Is there a system tool that I can use, or maybe a boot disk that might work? How do I determine what the problem is? Could it be the MBR?The disk cannot be read on either of the two systems I've used it on, and neither by direct SATA connection or by external adapter USB connection. -If I send the drive in for warranty repair, can they fix it and return it with all my data on it, or would they send me a new drive that's blank? The drive is about 2 years old and I bought it off of Newegg. I think I formatted it in Windows [or it came formatted] but I don't recall it having any problem with that. I first used it on a Windows 8 system and I've also used it on a Windows 7 system before it stopped working. I have both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 available. It's currently on the Windows 8.1 which is an Intel desktop. This is also where the pictures came from.It is currently connected directly via SATA to my motherboard, and it seems to show up when the system is booting up. It is connected to the computer the same way as about 4 other drives, and it's the only one that has any problems. The problem comes from the error messages, and I really can't figure out what it is that could be causing the problem. The drive hasn't really been used much. A lot of data has been transferred to it [maybe 2TB] but it has very low usage and it's only been in the computer for about a year. Is there a hard disk utility that I can use to diagnose what the problem is? It seems like Windows probably knows far more about the problem than I do: how would I find that out?

External hard drive can't be read on my Mac Book Pro

I have a had drive which is Mac OS formatted and it has always worked well with my Mac Book Pro but I had a program crash on me and I was working out of my hard drive. I force quited the program and tried to eject the hard drive but it seemed that program was still acessing the hard drive, I had not saved anything and nor did I want to and I didn't know how long whatever was happening would take, plus as far as I was concerned the program was closed, the windows were gone and my files closed, so I switched of my hard drive anyway. Now when I switch on the hard drive my Mac says it cannot read it and I don't know how to get it to read it again. I tried verify and repair and it says it can't stating. I don't know what to do and I desperately need acess to my hard drive. Can anyone please help?
The error message I recieve in Disk Utility in case it helps:
Verify and Repair volume "disk2s1"
Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume
Invalid B-tree node size
Volume check failed.
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed

I'll expand on the last post a little.
Disk Utility cannot repair that error.
If Disk Utility can't fix it, you'll need a more robust utility for the repair. I would recommend DiskWarrior. It is the best at directory repairs. It rebuilds then actually replaces your old directory. I feel every Mac owner should have a copy. Make sure you get the disk so you can boot up on it to run repairs. You can also install it on another drive and run it from there to repair this one. DW works faster that way.
I use DW once a month to try and catch errors in my system from getting too far out of hand. It has repaired every little and big issue I have ever had with my three Macs.
If you have a good backup, hopefully a clone of your system before you had issues, an Erase and Install will also rid you of this issue. But, beware! You will lose everything on the drive with this procedure. Let us know if you need help with that!

I have an external Harddiskdrive with 200 GB formatted in HFS+ with my Mac.
And here's my Problem:
A friend of me would have some of the MP3's on this HDD, but he is a PC user with Windows XP. So he could not see the drive in his Workspace.
Is there a way without buy MacDrive or something like that?
Or is there a App like MacDrive as Freeware or OpenSource???
What is with the "DOS" - format (FAT32)? Can I use this without an afraid of losing my Data on this Drive???

This is not an error. SMART status reports of hard drives are not passed through the chipsets of external enclosures.

They stole my hard drive with my original pictures, need help with back up

Someone stole my hard drive in my bag with the pictures I use with Lightroom. I have a clean backup of my original until November last year : the folder is similar of the folder I use in LR. But for the rest, I have a back up of the original pictures in my mac, but I think it's bit messy, because after that I deleted and move and renemae some picture in LR, and I didn't sync the back up folder. The folder is just a back up when I imported my picture in LR for the first time. So, I'm afraid LR won't find all the pictures. I don't really know how to explain better. But I will apreciate some help before started, and I don't want to mess it up. What can I do to find my LR back?

One way to approach this is to reinstate the backup you have as of November, then Import the images since then as a new import (as you'd be using the .lrcat from November, so it won't see any of the more recent as duplicate]. Of course, no edits nor keywords will be associated with those more recent photos, but this might be the way to assure you pick up everything since then.

If you are wanting to install the original copy of Windows it came with, you will need a set of recovery disks.
Otherwise, you can purchase a copy of Windows to install and download the appropriate drivers from http://goo.gl/hOm3. Just make sure the copy of Windows that is installed is at least the same family of Windows to ensure that drivers are available.
What is the exact model of the notebook and product number?

Computer hard drive crashed on our iMAC need help

Hi we just put in a new hard drive because our hard drive died.
We cant remember how to reset the imac to stop it from booting to windows vista partition so that we could restore the mac os cd to the hard drive.
We cant remember teh four key combinations we have to hold down to reset the computer to boot up so that we could choose either the windows or the mac os hard drive.
But since we instaled a new hard drive the computer keeps seeking the old windows partition and wont give us the option of holding down the option key to choose which partitioin to boot.
Does anyone have experience in installing mac os on a new hard drive that already has linux boot loader in it?
our imac keeps booting up with the linux boot loader and we cant install the mac os back this way.
pleaes help urgent thanks in advance.

Well, you really can't. Linux has control of the drive. You need to first prep this drive as follows:
Extended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Upon completion you can restore your backup of OS X to the drive. When you finally boot OS X on the drive, you can then use Boot Camp Assistant to create your Windows partition.
If you aren't doing things this way then you need to use the procedures you followed in the past for creating a triple-boot system.

Using external hard drive and Reason 4.0 need help!!!

ok the problem is when reason 4.0 is using the external harddrive it slows down really bad where it can not be used. I do no know any thing about macs and can not figure out why it slows down.

I wanted to try and transfer my music library from my ipad to the laptop, but it will not allow me to do so. Does anyone know if the full library can be transferred back to the computer?

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

Maybe...but the problem is heat. You can always add it externally via Firewire using a Newertech Voyager.
http://www.macsales.com may be able to install it safely in your machine as well. They also offer an option to add an eSATA port on some iMacs. Check with them what your options are.

3TB is no problem.. you will need to format it on the Mac HFS+ ie Mac OS extended journaled. Don't try using FAT32 etc for such a large drive.

If you are speaking of the USB 3.0 Canvio, you are not alone. Call Toshiba and check on their progress in alleviating the problem. I heard they are blaming Apple, but since theirs is the only drive that exhibits this problem, I think the burden is on Toshiba.
Some users have reported that by using a micro USB 2.0 connector (see bottom picture), instead of the 3.0 that comes with the drive, that it is a workaround. Notice that the 3.0 connector has sort of a "dual head" nature to the construction. One part of it is 2.0 USB micro compatible. I've never tried it myself though.

TVs don't support "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", so you will probably have to use FAT32. To format the external drive, follow the same steps as you did to format it with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled), but in the erasing screen, select "MS-DOS (FAT)" as "Format". Note that FAT32 isn't compatible with files bigger than 4 GB. Also, you may have to format the external drive in a PC

To what password are you referring? Do you mean your user account's admin password? Or do you mean the master password for File Vault or do you mean a Firmware Password?

    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
     When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
     Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
     instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
     Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
     OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
If you cannot do the above then try this:
1. Boot to Safe Mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
     /sbin/fsck -yf
     If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command until
     you do. If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message,
     then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
     mount -uw /
     cd /private/var/db/netinfo
     mv local.nidb local.old
     rm ../.AppleSetupDone
     shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
This last method does not actually change a password. It simply removes the user accounts and lets you create an initial admin account as if the computer were new out of the box.
How to reset the OS X password without a startup CD:
Reboot into Single-user Mode. Enter the following and press RETURN after each command line
   1. Type fsck -fy
   2. Type mount -uw /
   3. Type passwd <username>
I have never tried this method myself.
