Toshiba 40TL963 - no 3D possible

Just tried my Tv to play 3d movie and cant get any setting to show up when i press the "quick menu" option on the remote.
Been on the phone to Toshshiba support and reset TV but still no luck.
The 3d player works fine as we have tested this on another TV.
I have a HDMI hi speed cable and the correct glasses FPT AG02G.
Even when glasses are turned on I get no 3d output,the TV keeps giving me the option of 2D.
The movie is definitely 3D.
As the option for 3d is "greyed out" this makes me think the TV thinks the movie is not 3D, when again it is.
So puzzled.
Any help appreciated.
The TV works perfect in every other way.

Test it with another 3D movie or content which you could play from youtube.
The TV supports definitely 3D and the 3D Active Shutter glasses.

Solaris 7/8 on Toshiba Tecra 8000 Laptop - Possible?

This could be an easy one or one that has to go to Toshiba but I've been trying to get Solaris 7 loaded onto a Toshiba tecra 8000 laptop and can't get a 'fit' for the screen size. I've looked on the tested h/w list and can't see it listed so just wondered if anyone has used this platform for Solaris 7 and what they used? It's a 1024x768 screen. Any help appreciated.

I added Xig's Accelerated X server. With it I use 1024x768 screen and desktop
though I have also played with a larger virtual desktop at same resolution.

Toshiba e-Studio 3511c Possible Solution [aka "eStudio" and "e Studio"]

I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6 this weekend and just knew that I would have printing problems (I always do when performing an upgrade...) and trolled the message boards to help resolve my anticipated problems with my Toshiba e-Studio 3511c. As my solution does not appear to be reflected in any of the posts that I have seen I thought it might prove to be helpful to post it here.
First, the Toshiba itself has a variety of network settings. The are accessed by pointing your web browser to the IP address of the copier (my Windows tech guy had set it to a static IP address some time ago to avoid intra-network conflicts and told me what it is; I think that a static address is important so that the Mac always knows where to print to). While I played around with the settings, they did not appear to resolve my problem, and I reset them to the state that I used with 10.5 and earlier versions of OSX, to wit:
Address Mode: Static IP

Enable Bonjour Disable
Enable LDAP Disable
Enable DNS Enable

I don’t know what most of these mean nor the effect on printing for any but will be glad to provide additional detail to other hapless users of e-Studio 3511c’s -- simply e-mail me at [email protected].
Next, download the driver package from http://www.copiers.toshiba.com/support/downloads.jsp?site= ; I downloaded “- dmg.gz - Mac OSX (from 1.70 CD) 06/14/07 1.70” and installed it. Unlike other posters, I received no error messages. Like other posters, I had to take this step because 10.6 deleted my old PPD’s.
Then, do the “Add Printer” thing from System Preferences's "Printer and Fax" control panel. After flailing about for quite a while, I found the following worked:
IP printing
HP Jetdirect - Socket
[my Toshiba’s static IP address]
Amazingly (to me, anyway), the PPD was immediately identified and placed in the “Print Using” selector (it is the 4511 driver and there are two versions -- if you are in the U.K. I assume that you would use the U.K. version, I used the “other one”). (I was also quite shocked that the "HP" setting worked -- this is obviously not an HP printer!)
Anyway, the click “Add” and perhaps select your Toshiba's add-ons, if any.

Uninstalling Toshiba Laptop Checkup & Security Dashboard?

Hello,
I have a new Satellite S855-S5268 and I'm uninstalling Norton so that I can install my AV of choice (Kaspersky Internet Security)
On the official Kaspersky forum and help files, it says that you have to uninstall Norton thoroughly in order for Kaspersky to work properly ("Norton remnants are often a source of problems when installing Kaspersky").
Four programs by Norton/Symantec came pre-installed with my computer:
* Norton Internet Security (I have already uninstalled this)
* Norton Anti-Theft (same)
* Toshiba Security Dashboard
* Toshiba Laptop Checkup
It's the last two that I have questions about. In Programs and Features, it shows that those two are NOT by Toshiba Corporation, but, rather, from Symantec Corporation. In fact, when I click on the Security Dashboard icon on my taskbar, what it does is it shows me a summary of the Norton products on my machine.
When I run a Get System Info report (GSI is a run-on-demand Kasperky tool) after having uninstalled NIS and Norton Anti-Theft, it still lists Toshiba Laptop Checkup and Toshiba Security Dashboard as "Possibly Incompatible Software" (NIS 2012 and Norton Anti-Theft were also listed here before I uninstalled them). See attached screencap
Can I uninstall Toshiba Laptop Checkup and Toshiba Security Dashboard and my computer will still work properly?

AVG AntiVirus is Picking Up Infection in Toshiba Program Files

I am new to the forum. I wasn't sure which board was appropriate for my post, but I'd thought I'd start here.
Here are my specs:
Toshiba Satellite Notebook L355-S7831
Windows Vista Home Premium
32 Bit
My computer crashed the end of last month, and I am not 100% certain why, but I suspect the virus that my AVG Anti-Virus software might have something to do with it: "Trojan Horse Generic 32. TUJ" might of had something to do with it.
I did a clean install with Toshiba Recovery Disks. Up until April 9 2013 AVG did not pick up any viruses or infections. However, on April 12 2013 AVG picked up this infected file:
C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TOSAPINS\COMPS1\Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (3264bit)0\MANUAL\B27611B.EXE.
I am attaching a screen shot (jpeg) from AVG Anti-Virus.
AVG did not heal, quarantine, fix or remove the infected file. Any suggestions as to how I fix this file? Should I find the file on my Toshiba Recovery Disks and possible copy to the infected file directory possibly overwriting it?
Any help would be appreciated. This is a long, long ride trying to get my computer up to speed. No 'cashola' for a new one right now.

It's essentially a false positive, Byrd. AVG is the only AV I know that picks it up.
The original file (which you restored to the hard disk when you returned it to original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media) has a bad digital signature.
The downloadable replacement does not.
You can just ignore the whole thing if you like. See my reply to that situation.
Of course the site rebuild destroyed all those previous links. Get the revised utility here.

Such similar questions have been posted in the past. If you would use the forums advanced search option, you will get lot of threads about this theme.
First of all you have to know that notebook manufacturers (no matter what manufacturer) dont support CPU upgrades officially.
In case you would like to upgrade the CPU, you can do it at your own risk.
Secondly you should check the chipset which is used in the notebook.
I guess this unit supports an Intel HM55 chipset.
I found info about CPUs which are supported by HM55 chipset (click on compatible products)

But even if you would choose one of the mentioned and supported CPUs, the BIOS might not support it because the BIOS was designed and modified for the L500 and not tested with other hardware parts.

Satellite L305 - How to disable the integrated webcam?

I want to be able to use my logitech webcam (plugged into USB Port) instead of chicony integrated cam because I like it better. When I go on some chatting sites w video option the site usually selects the integrated cam and (from settings) does not SEE the other one whether I turned it on or not.

Hi buddy,
I agree with the previous user. Just disable the webcam in device manager if you make a right click on it and select disable. This is the easiest way in my opinion and also if you want to enable the webcam again.
Alternative have a look in BIOS. On my Toshiba notebook its also possible to disable the internal webcam in BIOS.
Please write some feedback if it worked or not. ;)

Support needed for my Satellite U840W-107

Since it is impossible to contact Toshiba Bulgaria in any possible way I am forced to use this forum. Can someone tell me how to solve an issue with the Intel Management Engine Interface 9.5.24.1790? Upon starting the computer I am prompted by the TEMPRO to download a new driver, I unzip the package, I execute the file but I get a "Can not find support device" message all the time.
Any ideas how to contact Toshiba or how to solve this issue would be appreciated!

According notebook specification your machine was delivered with preinstalled Win7. With other words your machine is preinstalled with recovery image. This recovery image is software package that contains all necessary drivers, tools and utilities. All hardware components are properly installed and configured so, generally speaking, there is no need for some updates.
Tempro is tool that informs you about updates but you must NOT install them, especially if system runs well and stabile.
I have 5 years old machine and still use original drivers and BIOS version as well.
I don't have this notebook model and cannot check this but believe me here is no reason for panic.
This is definitely not some important issue. Just ignore this message and continue to use your machine.
Important thing for you is to create recovery media (USB or DVD). More about that you can read in users manuals document.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Satellite A300-1MC is slow using the Win XP

I've just recently spent 400 odd quid on this laptop.
Hated Vista and installed with XP Pro.
However I find when I get my 'login' screen on XP, my desktop comes up and it takes a decade before I can start any applications like Firefox etc (egg timer etc). In fact its probably the same speed as my old Satellite 1900D (thats 8 years old). But once it all loads up its 'pretty' quick but not lightning fast.
I've defragged after the countless windows updates and it seems to be quicker. But quite disappointed still. Any thoughts?
Virus scanner is Mcafee Total internet
I've also played about with 'startup' thru MSCONFIG and got rid of stuff I dont need, but still no avail.
Is the A300 really that slow? I dont have any dodgy applications just normal office 2003 and as said above Mcafee
Any advice on disabling some files that I dont need thats within the Toshiba system that could possibly slow it down?

I have followed that link from the other thread directed to intel and copied ALL the zip files I needed onto floppy. Installing windows I have pressed the F6 key and now the laptop is asking me for many options of INTEL ICH etc controllers in fact theres 14 of them! There is no indication of which one to pick, so I picked ALL of them and lo and behold windows booted up and I got as far as enter the country etc.
The laptop then automatically reboots after I enter all the above country info and I get the toshiba splash screen and then the windows screen. For a split second I see a blue screen but then the pc goes blank and goes back to the Toshiba splash screen. Now it continuously loops back and forth without getting anywhere.
If you can shed some light that would be great.
