Toshiba A135-S4527

Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527. For a long time I have been wanting to know why is there a second compartment like for another hard disk yet there is no "sata connector". I also have another A135-S2326 same case.
anyone know because I called tech support and the technician had no idea?

Sometimes the same physical case is used in multiple models. There's likely another laptop model that uses that bay.

  • A135-S4527 Battery plugged in, not charging

There are 1000s of posts on the net but no solution is working. I'm summarizing the problem for those who are already frustrated by seeing solutions in the following order and did not work, so please do not provide any solution mentioned below 1. charger/cord/plug/outlet not working 2. battery dated non working 3. battery contacts unclean 4. restart / push power switch for 30 secs etc There are many where any of the above doesn't work as permanent solution. Sometimes it seems as working but it doesnt last for longer. Now stating the problem of mine specifically My battery was gone. I knew that when this started. The issue was, even if the AC Adapter is connected and the battery is ON and detected, it would always say x% remaining (Plugged in, not charging) - where x is < 100% . This message is so frustrating (even now I'm seeing this and I need to post before the battery gets discharged) Why would a AC Adapter not charge when it is connected and battery is charged less than 100%? Even if lets say a battery pack is not holding enough charge, it should attempt to continuously charge if the charge is less than 100% This has started when I upgraded the laptop Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 to Win 7. I've replaced the battery with a new one and only thing I can charge the battery is shut down and keep the laptop with battery connected with AC Adapter. Since last few days even the red charging LED has stopped showing up. I've found that the problem is related to "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method battery" Have perfomed all sorts of instructions as given but none works Funniest part is when this message is on and battery is not charging while AC Adapter is connected, it is still drawing power off the battery as the % goes down and it simply knocks off when battery is fully discharged, completely ignoring that the AC Adapter is connected (Yes, it is connected as you can see the icon with the pin) I'd stop here for some advise before this goes off again. Thank you so much for your attention

  • Satellite A135-S4527 - Drivers needed & Function Keys do not work

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A135-S4527. But, when I got this computer it was without a recovery disk / Vista Reinstall Disk and the Vista OS that was installed was a bloated mess - it was highly used by a individual of lesser intellect. Anyway, I decided to take out that Hard Drive and put in my SSD with Windows XP Professional SP3.
Thats when the problems started rolling in. Turns out Toshiba does not support Windows XP Operating System - I checked the site and was surprised to see a complete lack of support for Windows XP ( even though Windows XP is the dominant OS and was even more so when this laptop was made).
I managed to get the drivers installed, for everything but the modem. Easiest to find drivers were from Intel for the Chipset / Motherboard and the Legacy Graphical Processing Unit. The thing is, I am not sure whether or not these are the official drivers and I am completely lost on the drivers for the modem. Any idea where I can acquire the -latest and greatest- drivers for all my components?
Also there are a few problems,
    - Function Keys For Brightness Do Nothing
    - Laptop sometimes does not come out of sleep mode
What can I do about the brightness keys? The monitor is sometimes a bit too bright to be comfortable to use. Yet I am having no luck making those keys actually do anything.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi
From my knowledge this must be a Toshiba US notebook series.
Therefore I visited the Toshiba US driver page to check the driver availability.
And guess what? I found it but unfortunately there are no many Win XP drivers.
There are Vista and Win 7 drivers available but no Win XP.
I guess that this is everything what is available for Win XP.
    So what to do????
I think you should try to install the missing tools which are released for other notebook series; for example A105-Sxxxxxx
Maybe you will get the driver working
Lets hope. Otherwise you will have to use the notebook without such functions

  • A135-S4527 - DVD Drive won't read CDs but works with DVDs

My Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 is running Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1. It has a MAT**bleep**A DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA Device DVD/CD-ROM drive (from System Information). It will not read CDs in the drive anymore. It doesn't give an error or anything. It just acts like nothing is in the drive. However, it does still read DVDs. Anyone have a fix for this?
    Thanks,

You can find drives for your A25-S207 at http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com
Many users have reported difficulties with generic replacement drives purchased on eBay.  These drives often lack the proper firmware required to operate in Toshiba notebooks.  I'd suggest buying an exact replacement from a vendor that handles Toshiba parts.

  • RAM update - Satallite A135-S4527

    Hello,
I am attempting to bump my Toshiba to 4g (RAM).  However, when I attemp to do so, (install both 2g sticks) my system will not boot up.  Am I doing something wrong?
BTW - When I install only 1 stick the system comes up fine.  I have attempted the 1 stick install in both bays and each time my system boots up.  It is only when I attempt to add both sticks at the same time that my system 'refuses' to boot up.

  • Re: Satellite A135-S4527: Need all XP drivers

Need all drivers xp for A135-S4527.
    Gracias

The Satellite A135-S4527 was designed for the US market. In my knowledge all Toshiba series with the 5 at the end are US notebooks.
Therefore you should check the Toshiba US driver website.
    Here is the link:
    http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/home.to
If you will not find the necessary XP drivers then either you will have to wait till the drivers will be released or you will try some single XP drivers directly from the chip manufacture websites.

  • What kind of RAM I need for my Satellite A135-S4527?

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527. It came with 1GB RAM (DDR2 SDRAM). I'd like to upgrade it to 2... Just wondering if anyone knows what kind/brand of RAM is installed from the factory, and if it's installed as 2x512 or 1x1024.
    Thanks.

The specification of your notebook model is not known to me but if you want to upgrade RAM check please this Kingston page .

  • A135-S4527 Vista -programs lock up

I purchased my laptop in early 2007 ? With Vista loaded. Several month after I downloaded Firefox and the problems began. 1st the sound went away ( as been posted by many others here ) A little later on when working with Excell or word with a any browser open the program would lock up between switching programs. It does this all the time now and a window will pop up when it locks up asking if I want to restart the program. I do this wait a few seconds everything clears up and the cycle begins again. If I go to the the start button to open another program it will freeze , I then double click wait a few seconds it clears up and the cycle repeats itself all the time. A few months ago I upgraded to 4 Gig ram or I could not use the computer at all. If I have just the browsers open I can go for quite a while without a lock up, but as soon as a program opens the locking up begins. Somehow sound is back but you never know as occasionally it disappears.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Toshiba A135 hangs at auto login prompt(install cd)

Unfortunately I've yet to get any linux distrobutions to boot on this Laptop. It's an old Toshiba a135 with 1.6Ghz celeron M and ati integrated gfx, 512mb ram. Now the Arch  install cd however gets to the root prompt but freezes completely there. No tty's avaliable. Nothing just this text and no prompt:
    Arch Linux 3.6.8-1-ARCH (tty1)
    archiso login: root (automatic login)
it doesn't seem to show any errors or failures at startup with systemd. Is there by chance an early debug shell accessable during startup configured in the installation media before reaching this point (booting to rescue.target froze as well)? I may be able to get more info if I can get a working shell.
As I have said I tested other boot disks to try and troubleshoot it(I'll list them below) and all of them froze earlier on. Arch seems to be the only thing getting close to functional so I ask this here for that reason.
    other disks that failed:
    parted-magic
linux mint 13, 14 and LMDE
    archbang(december release)
This has already wasted a few of my blank cds/dvds and I have nothing to go off of... I'm riding blind
I'm stuck trying to debug this from grub but still freezes each time I try to get to a shell...

OK.. so here's where I believe the problem originates. Not entirely sure but it's very likely resposible for the linux installers that can't boot. It is a hardware issue but a very odd/uncommon one. The laptop supports ddr2 and has two slots but only one stick can be recognized whether in the 1st or 2nd slot... Here's how I came to this observation. At first I thought it was bad ram. Of which I as right partially. One stick out of two 512mb sticks was completely dead. but removing the bad one didn't fix the issue. Which leads me to suspect it's a controller malfunction. Here's what I did after popping in a good 1gb ddr2 to replace the 512mb bad one.
all of the following booted windows...
    1st slot + 1gb
    2nd slot + 512mb(good stick)... works... only 1gb recognized.
    1st slot + 512mb
    2nd slot + 1gb... works ... only 512mb recognized.
    1st slot + 1gb
    2nd slot empty... works...
    1st slot empty
    2nd slot + 1gb... works...
    1st slot + 512mb
    2nd slot empty... works...
    1st slot empty
    2nd slot + 512mb... works...
I'm a bit confused with this but, I'll mark this one solved after a little input over the next few days...
Also on the side of the arch linux disk I booted with "init=/bin/bash" and got shell but very little was usable and also led to lockups later on when trying to start some different processes(haven't tested this on the other boot disks I have but I doubt it will matter either way... "init=/bin/bash was about as close to functional as I could get. It's pretty much a dead end with my current knowledge... Any last thoughts I'd love to hear them.

  • HELP?????????????? A135-S4527

Hello I am in need of a little help, our laptop A135-S4527 will no completely boot up I installed Windows 7 over Vista premium and was not aware that I needed to follow the guidelines on this site. So anyway the laptop has had nothing but problems since then mostly involving startup issues. Well at this point I am beyond my knowledge skill to figure out how to get the computer to boot up pass the "mouse initialized"   on the boot startup.
I would appreciate any and all help or suggestions that solve this problem. I have the factory cds which I would use if only I could get the machine to boot properly:-)
    Thank You

i would suggest western digital scorpio blue line for there reliability and performance. i would stick with the 5400rpm since the 7200rpm models will use more battery power and tend to run a little warmer which neither is good in a laptop

  • Re: Satelite A135-S4527

Not sure if the other laptops listed would require the same fix tht I need.  I bought this pc about 1 1/2 years ago.  I got a router for my desktop a few months ago.  At times there's no problems. As often as not, I click on the internet icon and before it opens it tells me I'm offline.  Others it just goes offline in the middle of something. I get the message and click it to connect and then again but still have to go to 'tools' and click online.  My son's pc works just fine with the router.  Any idea's how to log on with out all the problems?
    Thanks

I assume you're not wireless, Al.
If you can find a combination or sequence that makes the problem occur on demand, we can troubleshoot it.
Otherwise, how will we know when we find the solution?

Try toggling the setting in Control Panel's Power Options with a reboot in between. This sometimes shakes minor corruption out of the registry.
