What kind of cable are you using to connect your devices to the TV?

  • Satellite Pro L870-149 - Toshiba Blu Ray Player query

    Good afternoon.
I bought the above laptop about a month ago and have just tried playing a Bluray disc for the first time using it's built-in Bluray drive but nothing plays.
By default the drive autoruns the built-in Toshiba Blu Ray Player which does load up successfully. However nothing happens when I hit play, I cannot see a list of chapters and I cannot load up any menus relating to the disc itself.
The disc can be navigated in Windows Explorer and there are no marks on the disc itself (it is a brand new, shop-bought disc) but I do not have any other BluRay discs I can use to check whether it is the disc or the player.
Does the built-in player or the drive itself have any restrictions on playing shop-bought BluRay discs?
I should also note that I have ensured I have selected the correct region during the initial set-up of the player.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Simon

    > Does the built-in player or the drive itself have any restrictions on playing shop-bought BluRay discs?
As far as I know there are no restrictions to play the original BR disks
I would recommend checking the Toshiba EU driver page.
There seems to be a new version of this software v1.0.3.63
But if you have no problems using the Cyberlink PowerDVD so I would not be really worried about this tiny issue

  • Satellite P850 - Where to get Toshiba Blu-ray player?

    Hi,
I recently reformatted my p850/049 for windows 7. I tried to install the Toshiba Blu-Ray Disc player V1.0.3.196A, the file didn't work at all and when I tried to install it manually "cannot find player in your system. Installation Aborted". On the download page it is listed as a patch, but where do I find the original file? I have SP1 Windows 7 pro 64 bit, all up do date as of 24th May 2013
I found V1.0.5.110 from the US version of the Toshiba support site and this installed and does play DVD's and it tries to open a Blu-Ray but it gets stuck on blank screen and doesn't play or allow me to do anything like skip scene or go to the menu. There's no error message complaining about region or corrupt files or anything it just goes to a blank screen, with the controls available but they don't do anything. As I said dvd's work perfectly, just not blu-rays.
The player itself seems to function normally on this screen and when you try to click buttons it comes up with a circle with a line through it when you try and click buttons like a normal dvd player if you tried to skip through the copyright warnings and the time index is always a small number ie 25 seconds or so. As if it were trying to play a small segment like the copyright section or something.
I've tried a number of different Blu-ray discs and none of them work. I downloaded a trial of another Blu-ray player program and it plays Blu-rays all the same ones that don't work on the Toshiba player (so the hardware works), so i'm looking for a free one that works without leaving a watermark on the screen. It seems silly as I expected my machine to PLAY BLU-RAYS without me having to buy software.
    Any help would be appreciated

    > I tried to install the Toshiba Blu-Ray Disc player V1.0.3.196A, the file didn't work at all and when I tried to install it manually "cannot find player in your system. Installation Aborted"
Yes, this is a patch file and you cannot install this without having installed an full version.
But I found on the Toshiba Australian driver page the Toshiba Video Player 5.0.0.16-A
Did you try to install this application?
At the other hand I could recommend the usage of freeware software like VLC Player.
This is really great and in my opinion the best player you can get for free.

  • Blu-Ray player installation issue: missing VBScript

    Hi folks!
After downloading bluray driver as recommended by Toshiba notifier, i have trouble installing it.
After I have run installation, I receive 2 windows with following notifications:
1, First: Cant find script engine VBScript for script ..... TC3052100B.temp\preinstBDV.vbs
(where TC3052100B.temp referds to the bluray driver itself if i undersand correctly)
    2. and after the above window is closed, the following appears:
Cant find script engine VBScript for script ..... TC3052100B.temp\BDPlayerSetup_Patch.vbs
I already deleted the old driver and don't have any restore point....
All rest of the operations run smoothly...
But how to handle this situation????
And i want my disk drive to function...
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Kaspars

    > After downloading bluray driver as recommended by Toshiba notifier, i have trouble installing it.
Toshiba notifier? You mean Toshiba Tempro software
I have no idea what notebook model you have and if your notebook was equipped with an Toshiba Bluray drive but I guess you get this error appears because your notebook isnt blu-ray capable and the Toshiba Blu-ray player isnt preinstalled.
The point why you got this notification is simple: there are different notebooks with different hardware configurations. But the Toshiba tempro does not recognize if your notebook needs this software. Tempro shows you the drivers/tools/utilities which were released for the whole notebook series and were uploaded to the Toshiba driver page.

  • Encoded video doesn't work on Toshiba Blu-ray disc player

I have a problem that I am trying to encode a sequence of frames in a video container , but the encoded video doesn't work on toshiba blu ray disc player .. I am using the following ffmpeg command to encode frames and convert them to a video:
    ffmpeg -i "C:\ManVsWigan\Frames\%d.png" -vcodec libx264 "C:\ManVsWigan\encoded.mp4"
I tried multiple video codecs but no luck yet
    "-vcodec mpeg4"
    "-vcodec mpeg2video"
If you have any idea please help me

The BluRay player leverages parts of Windows DirectShow but won't serve very well as a general player since Windows will load other players for the majority of media formats.
You can get away with a limited amount of tampering of the BluRay's players tolerance of media files until you violate some far away written DRM safeguard and kneecapping the BluRay player from doing anything.
If you're trying to validate your ffmpeg composed tests of your content as part of the editing process, you're better to avoid relying on the BluRay player that is purposed for narrow replay of licensed content and equipped with oversensitive safeguards susceptible to malfunctioning from the invasions of video pirates like you defined by studio executives.
You and I understand you're not a pirate but chances aren't being taken.
Whether you just dowloaded FFmep in the macho exe format or part of the millions of other packages that include it, you can tune your players to codecs pretty easily with the KLite Codec Manager or the Registry.
Chances are you already know about KLite since editing video on Windows eventually requires it and its hard to walk down the street without eventually kiceking over a copy. But just in case you've been living on a Martian cave with your hands over your ears, snag a mirrored copy from: http://codecguide.com /download_kl.htm
I like KLite more than others because it is fairly unobtrusive and avoids stomping over other media tools the way Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas enslaves Windows and can neuter BluRay codecs without always adequately replacing them. I can cite threads on the matter but just googling for anything such as "Adobe Premier killed my BluRay" or "Sony Vegas ruined Windows" will usually return desperate strings of posts long enough to wrap around Jupiters equator.
For general maintenance of Windows poor codec management, grab this noninstalling executable http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html to determine if Windows believes it has the same codecs you thought it did and you'll likely be surprised by the fine tuning you'll need to perform.

  • TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player not compatible with USB speakers

I have a P850, using Logitch Z305 USB speakers. The speakers work fine with all other multimedia software such as WMP, iTunes or MPC, but not with TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player. The Toshiba program either won't work or will crash if the speakers are plugged in. Is anyone aware of a way to fix this?
    Thanks

This Logitech speakers are plug and play device that uses standard driver and are installed as any other plug and play device. I dont have it but I saw interesting movie on You Tube about it.
To be honest I dont understand why it cannot works with TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player. I think you are the first one who has reported about this issue.
Problem is that Toshiba doesnt support third part software or hardware so it is not easy to find solution for this.
I really hope there are other users who have fixed it or can offer some useful tip for this pretty strange issue.

  • BDX1100 Blu Ray player won't connect to 50HM66 DLP TV via HDMI

Hi all.  I have been trying to connect my Toshiba BDX1100 Blu Ray player to my Toshiba 50HM66 DLP TV through the HDMI.  I have tried both HDMI 1 & 2 ports.  I have tried 3 different cables.  The Blu Ray player connects through HDMI on another TV so I don't think its the problem.  I've been through all the settings on each device and can't find anything to make it work.  I've searched and searched and read all I could find and nothing has worked, so I figured I would post here hoping to find an expert or someone experiencing similar problems.  I appreciate any feedback or advice.

  • BDX3200KB 3D Blu-ray Player not compatible with some 3D movies

    I have a BDX3200 3D blu-ray player that is connect to a Toshiba 47VL863 3D TV.
I have noticed recently that a number of 3D movies do not play correctly.
The worst affected ones seem to be "The Hobbit" and "A Turtles Tale", where the 3D movement flickers badly and there is a visible "page turning" effect when switching from one scene to another.
    This makes both movies un-watchable.
In an attempt to solve the issue I downloaded the latest firmware for both the TV and blu-ray player, but sadly the problem has not gone away. If, however, I play the affected movies on the same TV but using a PS3, they play perfectly, leading me to believe the BDX3200 is the source of the issue.
I have written to Toshiba support, but have had no reply!
Is anyone else having the same issue? Is there a fix out there that I'm not aware of?
I'd like to know what Toshiba have to say on this issue?
    Message was edited by: fatbaldbob

Well Toshibas answer is a bit of a joke really.
They say that the technology used in this 3D Bluray is new and is causing playback problem.....yes and.......Toshibas point is?
My SONY yes PS3 which is NOT yes I repeat NOT a dedicated 3D Bluray player and is almost 8 years old not 2 years like my Toshiba 3D Bluray player can play this 3D Disc without any problems...so the technology is not that new..or can TOSHIBA just NOT be bothered to look after their customers.
    People just be warned!!!
Toshibas reply is shown below plus my further reply
"Thank you for your recent enquiry.
We are very sorry to hear about the problem that you have experienced with your new DVD purchase. We understand that recent devlopments employed in 3D technology used on this particular blu-ray have led to issues with 3D playback and the most recent firmware update hasn't rectified this issue.
We have passed on your comments regarding this and future firmware updates may address this issue but at this time we are unable to tell you when this may become available.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
    My reply
    "Hello,
I find this completely unacceptable. I purchase this product along with my television in good faith that it would play 3d Blurays...this is obviously not the case it would appear that it can only play certain 3d blurays..perhaps you should consider placing this information in your advertising literature so as to not misinform customers.
My aging PS3 which was made in 2006 and is a games console as you well know can play this 3d Bluray..so it is not new technology that is the problem. My PS3 is not a dedicated 3D Bluray player where as the Toshiba 3D player is designed to play 3D Blurays and yes it isnjust about 2 years old. I think there is something wrong here, and I would like to take this further.

  • Should i buy a blue ray player?

i have a 37" vizio 720p that supports 1080i signals and recently bought one of those upconverting dvd players for it and was not impressed with the picture quality at all. i also own a xbox 360 and downloaded one of the 720p movies off of the marketplace and was much more impressed with the picture quality. i was wondering if it would be worth investing in a blue ray player for this tv.

Because the screen size is on the small side. I'd just stick with your XBox for now, and buy a BD player when they come down some more. I have a 42" and I don't even have one.
BTW, all upconverters are not created equal. Each company uses a proprietary algorithm. I have heard that Toshiba is the best at it. What brand did you buy?

    Hi,
My wife wants to use her laptop L850 to watch movies.
But most of our videos at home are Blu-Ray format.
Can I change the DVD player for a Blu-Ray player.
If yes which model or specifications should I look for ?
And will I need new drivers that may or not be easily available ?
We are taking the train in two weeks, so if someone can help me,
I would have time to do the change before we travel.

    Hi
I think the information about the compatible optical disk drives as well as blu-ray players can be found in user manual.
I found the info about following compatible drives:

    Panasonic Blu-ray drive UJ160
    Toshiba Blu-ray SN-506AF

  • Qosmio F750 - Blu-ray player - cannot apply patch

When I apply the patch TC30422300A- Toshiba Blu-ray disc Player V1.0.0.299_A I receive the message "Cannot find the player" even though the Player is present and working.
I have upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate on this machine.
Is there a work around or an original player that I can reinstall ??
I cannot do a full recovery as that will erase everything. Is there a way to extract only this program from the Recovery DVDs?
    Thank you.

The 17c68.msi is the installer package it has a date of 7/07/2011 05:57 is 7.033 KB or 6,86 MB. If you have partially install over the original package it may have been overwritten and deleted.
What I do always with a new computer is to make or keep an original hard drive version and then create a new hard drive with all my modifications special programs.
This is especially need here as this 3D is new technology and we as always are the beta testers. I have thus been able to go back to the original HD to find program and dll locations as well as registry information.
I agree it would be more comfortable if Toshiba would give us the original program as well as the patch. Computers always crash and need to be rebuilt. Toshiba is one of the best manufacturers with their support. In fact this was the only program that gave me trouble when I built my system to my way.
Having a complete "vanilla" HD is a big help for correcting problems and you do not have to reinstall and reconfigure everything.
You must uninstall the video player 4.00 as it is not a Blu-ray player; It was bad advise to have installed it, as it does some configuration or registry conflicts with the more advanced system. Also the WinDVD (corel) seems to need to be properly installed and running before the Blu-ray Player, at least that was my experience.
When you say that a program or and install "crashes" that is not very helpful to understand the problem. You should always give an exact description of what happens and what is the message. These can help pin point the problem.
    Good luck and perseverance !

  • How do I program my remote to work for my satellite and Blu Ray player?

I recently purchased the 55 in LED Toshiba tv model number 42SL417U and I am having trouble finding the instructions on how to program it to work with my Sony Blu Ray player and Satellite. I went to product support and could not find a topic on how to program the remote.

Information on how to program your remote is available on page 79 of your user's guide.
The TV also has CEC functionality to control other CEC-enabled, HDMI-connected devices. More information about this is on page 19 of the user's guide.

  • No video signal when connecting Blu Ray player

I have a new blu ray player and HDMI cable. It will play just fine when connected to little cheap TV but my large Toshiba will just show No video signal when I try  to connect it and use it. I have tried everything, read the whole manual, searched online help, called the support phone number which just directed me back to the online support. Nothing has helped.
Also when using my old DVD player with the 3 component cables, I never get any color, just black and white picture.

The TV likely has a shared video input. You need to tell it in the settings whether you're using a composite or component device. If you have a composite device connected and the TV thinks it's a component device, it'll show up in black and white. What model number is your TV? I'll tell you change the setting once I know what TV you have.
Also, to what specific port is the new Blu-ray player connected?

  • How do I use my Airport Express with a Blu-ray player?

Hello, first post, long time lurker. Have a question, hope someone can help me
I have an Airport Express V 6.3, currently I have it set to 'Join a wireless network' and its connected wirelessly through a Netgear router that is located on the 1st floor, I'm on 3rd floor by the way. I've been using it for airtunes, but I recently received a Sony Blu-ray Player and would like to connect it the airport express via ethernet cable.
What do I have to set up on the airport express to be able to give the blu-ray player internet?
I've noticed many threads here about airport extreme connected to express...so they weren't too helpful

Welcome to the discussion area, mareithree!
You'll need the 802.11"n" version of the AirPort Express to be able to "Enable ethernet clients" and connect the DVD player. Unfortunately, your older version of the Express does not allow this type of feature.
