TOSHIBA Canvio Connect (EZ) Boot up and Restore Problems

I just recently purchased a TOSHIBA Canvio Connect (EZ) portable hard drive to back up my HP Pavilion. The backup went well. Following the Canvio instructions I created a boot drive on a USB Flash drive. Then I booted up the PC using the Flash drive and pressed the F12 Key as per instructions. I tried several times booting using the drive and pressing F12 but most of the time the computer just comes up normally and twice I got a  screen that read UEFI Boot Services with the option to select UBFI IPV4 Net Card or to select UBFI IPV6 Net Card. The screen shown in the instructions said I would have option to select USB to bring Up EZ.

HP Pavilion.   ...   pressed the F12 Key as per instructions
You are dealing with the computer's BIOS/UEFI now. That has nothing to do with the external drive.
The instructions probably assume a Toshiba computer. You'll need to consult the HP people.

Ask them how to set up the UEFI in your machine to boot from a USB flash drive.

  • MBA connection and restore problems

Right, so basically my MBA seems to drop the connection every 3 minutes or so. Well, not drop it, it remains connected, but it just stops transmitting data. Its really strange. Regardless of if im using mobile BB or if im using the wireless, it just stops transmitting data. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Im fairly sure its not hardware as it does the same if I use mobile BB and its not signal, as my Mobile BB has full signal and my wireless is wireless N.
So I thought it could be hardware, so I tried to restore it OTA, but when I select the restore disk in my imac (From my MBA) the World appears and spins, and then the machine has a kernal panic, so I managed to get hold of an external disk drive, and when i try to do it from there I just get a blue screen for 10 minutes, and then it starts up as normal,
This coupled with the connection problem is really doing my head in. All i want to do is for the bloody thing to stop dropping a connection so I can actually use it!
Anyone got any ideas how to get round my problems without having to send it to apple or buy extra pieces just to restore it?

    Elk;
    Thanks for the quick response. Here's what I've got;
Belkin 54g Router. Yes, the firmware is current, the other computers I've got connected are two Toshiba Satellites, and my son's MacBook Pro, no problems with any of them. The Toshiba's are running Windows Vista and Windows 7RC1 and the MacBook pro runs OSX 10.4.? No encryption and anywhere else I take the MBA I have the same issues.
History; Originally the MBA ran OSX 10.4 when received, updated to 10.5.6 I believe and that's when the problems began. Currently it has an 80G HD, 2 GB of ram, and 58GB of free space available.
I've tried everything I know, and a few things I've made up (ha) and while I'm the IT guy at work, 98% of my training and experience is Windows based so learning OSX has been fairly easy, with the exception of the wireless issue.
I'm open to about anything to sort out what the problem is, but from what I've read here, there are quite a few people with OSX 10.5 and better having the same issues. I'm simply hoping someone has sorted this out.
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

  • Someone stole my iPod, how can I tell if they connected it to itunes and restored it?

I need to know how to track whether they've restored it to make it their own or not..

No. All you have to do is place the iPod in recovery mode (erases the iPod) and restore via iTunes.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • My ipod 4th gen i got from a friend is permently disabled and when i try to connect it to itunes and restore it it does it for a few minuites then thee ipod goes off that screen and turns on by itself and ive already done this a few time help please??

my ipod 4th gen which i got from a friend is permanently disabled and when i try to restore it, it starts to restore it then my ipod goes off the "connect to itunes" screen and turns on by itself and doesnt restore i need to know how to fix this problem??
    does anyone have any solutions?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPhone 5 shut down and restore problems

I was using my iPhone 5 and it was at about 6% so I shut it when I went to go plug it in it wouldn't turn on for a while, I tried many different chargers. Then at once it started to turn on the apple sign shows up and it appears to be turning on the goes black and repeat that over and over again. So I looked at different support things and have tried to restore it, I have tired about 13 times now and each time it loads till about 9.0-10.0 Mb then either tells me I've lost connection to Internet access when I know I haven't or else it starts to load the apple sign on my phone then shuts off again. Its hasn't works for about 24 hours now and it has become to the point where I'm very upset with it. If anyone has a solution please your help would be greatly appreciated !

I'm having the same issue with my iPhone5.  It just started yesterday afternoon.  The "hard reset" as you suggested worked once.  However, it shut down again only one hour later.  It didn't turn on (even with the hard reset) for three hours when the hard reset worked again.  I hooked it up to iTunes and restored my phone and thought that it would fix the issue.  But after being on for about two hours, my screen got vertical lines then turned green and shut off again.  I haven't been able to turn it back on no matter what I do all night and all day today.
It doesn't matter that the phone is plugged in or have 100% battery power.  It just won't turn on again.
I have an appointment at my local Apple Genuis Bar, but I'm not sure what they can do as I'm not sure if this is a software or a hardware issue.

  • I was trying to update my ipod touch and an error occured. Now it says I'm suppose to connect it to itunes and restore it to it's original settings. That's going to make me lose all my pictures and stuff right?

Okay, while I was updating my ipod an unknown error occured. Now It's telling me I need to connect it to itunes, even though it's plugged in already. And when It does connect it shows up as a generic "ipod".  It doesn't even show my ipod anymore. And it wants me to restore it. It said something around the lines of "restore ipod so it can connect to itunes." Isn't that going to delete all my pictures and stuff? I don't think it saved the reboot from when it was updating!I just want all my settings and stuff back! I don't want to lose all my stuff especially my 2,000 pictures on there! Ugh! Help!

Errors when updating leads to corrupt system files and this may be your problem. If you're using windows, connect your device to PC and run any third party app like Syncios. If it detects, you maybe in luck and try to back-up your data if possible. I hope that it won't and if doesn't, there is no other way to recover files. You should be restoring with iTunes and all data will be erased, or else your device may become unusable.

  • Trouble with connecting to an App and restoring In App Purchases

I am having trouble with restoring my in app purchases. I had purchased the full season for crazy night out a while back but when I got the app again after restoring the app the full season wasn't on and it is trying to charge me for it. I had also bought the fantasy date app and the multipacks and unlike crazy night out it recognizes I made the purchase but when I click restore purchases or buy pack it won't download and it says can not connect to server and for me to check my settings and try again also for the ones I do have that were free when I click play or download all videos it says it can't connect to servers and the videos don't play. Is there anything I can do to retrieve these purchases back and get the videos to play.
It's not the Internet everything else works.

ftp doesn't work well in modern network environments, and the design of the protocol itself is basically incompatible with the inclusion of firewalls in modern networks. And it transmits the authentication credentials in cleartext.
Put another way, see if ssh and particularly sftp works here (either directly via the sftp command, or via a sftp GUI tool) works for your requirements.
Failing that, [here is ftp set-up information|http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/942].
If it's the DNS set-up, then here is some [DNS server set-up information|http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1436]. And your Mac OS X client will need to have access to the same DNS information your server is using.

  • HT201263 I followed the  article on connecting iPhone to iTunes and restoring iPhone, 8 hours later it comes up saying error connection lost???

My phone was disabled and needed connection to itunes. After following the restore instructions it didnt work? There was no change in internet connection or cable connection with the iPhone, it just came up with the error box after 8 very long hours of waiting! :/ i dont know what to do now?

    Take a look at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you have a really slow internet connection it could take a while, 8 hours is terrible though unless you're on dial-up or satellite.
If you have an Apple Retail Store near you, set up a Genius Bar appt and see if they can do the restore for you:

  • Iphone Sim Card problems and updating and restoring problems

I bought a iphone about 1 year ago and about 2 months ago i was not able to see any wifi connections in the area or connect to any even though i was sure that there was a wifi nearby and my fellow coleauges could connect to it with their iphone. I thought that this might have something to do with the "restrictions" so i went to turn the restrictions off but realised that it had a passcode that i had forgotten. I wasnt able to restore it within the iphone so i restored it from my computer. Once i had finished the iphone had a " connect to itunes " on the screen and it said that there was no sim car installed, even though there was. I tried cleaning the sim card and everything else, i tried connecting it to itunes but it just said no sim card installed. Now i cannot use my iphone or cant even activate it. I have also tried to restore it in recovery mode but ended up with the same problem. Please Help.! Thanks

  • Dual Boot Linux and Windows problem with HDDRecovery

    Hello
I`m using dual OS Windows Vista and Linux open SUSE distribution on Toshiba Satellite A350-10z, everything is working great except Windows Recovery. I have Linux (boot:dev/sda6) and Windows Vista (boot:dev/sda2). Windows has 2 partitions, Disk C and D, on Disc D i have HDDRecovery folder. After F8 i using the repair option and waiting, then the massage is displayed "The installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer".
Before i installed Linux the Recovery worked fine. Is there a chance of using the HDDRecovery from Windows Disk D or i have to boot from Recovery DVD?

In my opinion Linux has muddled up the partitions or MBR and possibly this is the reason why the HDD recover does not work seems the Recover DVD is your option ion order to set the notebook back to factory settings.
By the way: I didnt install the Linux on my notebook but I use Linux using the Knoppix Live CD

  • HT201412 Iphone 3gs not turning on and restoring problem 5

Hello, my iPhone crashed it wont turn on. When im connecting it to my itunes, it ask me to restore it. Im restoring it and after while the loading screen turn off and on the i tunes the error comes up.
"The iphone iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (5)"
What should i do to get it working?.
    Thank You.

You will have to restore it. It will be restored to the last backup you did when you synced with iTunes, which is why its a good idea to sync frequently.

  • IOS 7.1.1 update and restoring problem

    Hi there,
So this morning I woke up and my iphone 4S came up with the 7.1.1 OS update. I decided to update it so i clicked install. Once i clicked install the verifying update message came up (which was expected) and i thought ill put it on our little black charger usb that plugs into the DVD box. I walked away and came back and I saw the apple logo come up like the phone was turning on. I automatically thought okay its almost done. So i left it for another ten minutes and went back. When i took it off it came up with a message saying i didnt have enough room. I began deleting a couple of photos and apps and clicked install again although i didnt put it on charge. After about ten minutes I looked back and my phone was off so i held the lock button to turn it on. It started with the apple logo coming up like it was starting up but then a charger plug came up pointing towards the Itunes logo above.
It wouldnt let me do anything else. So i plugged in into the computer and a message came up saying something along the lines of "this phone needs to be restored".
clicking okay there was an option saying restore phone. Realising it was the only the I could do I clicked the option with pain (knowing all my photos would most likely be deleted).
A loading bar began saying 45 minutes so i left it for about 30. I then came back and an error came up saying it could not download, network connection lost or something.
Does anyone know whats happened to my phone or know how to at least restore it? Even if you have any input or possiblities of what you think might be the problem please comment!
Also if there is a way to save my photos please tell me
    Thanks!

    Its an Iphone 4S

  • Massive Sync and Restore Problem

When I went to sync my 5G iPod Video (version 1.2.1) to my iTunes (7.3.2.6 WinXP), it gave me the following error message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." My iPod was never placed in recovery mode to begin with. I restored my iPod as requested, and I recieved the exact error mesge again. And I repeated this process once more, referred to the Support page, and nothing else seems to work. Now, my iPod has no media and will not sync. I have scanned all files for corruption, and none detected.
To let you know about my computer, I've been modifying the overall appearance to become Mac OS X Tiger. I wouldn't think this would effect this too much, since I haven't touched a single app.
    HELP!!!!!!!

You are caught in a restore loop. With the exception of your iPod (connected to a rear port), mouse and keyboard, disconnect from any network you are a part of and disconnect all other USB devices including external hard drives, thumb drives, modems, printers, scanners, etc. and change the drive letter of the iPod to something much higher, like M or P or Z:
