Toshiba display drvier vs other sources - Satellite P100

Hi,
A couple of questions...
I bought a P100-188 (pspa3e) a couple of weeks ago from PC World (don't hate me, they were cheapest that had it in stock!), it came with installed NVIDIA drivers 6.14.10.8400 - presumably based on Forceware 84 from NVIDIA.
Toshiba driver download page offered a driver version 8.3.2.0, uploaded on 30/7. I got it but when I tried to install it, it told me it was older than my current version. I didn't allow the installation to proceed.
Can anyone tell me:
1. What is the difference between tosh drivers and nvidia reference drivers? I know nvidia refrence drivers don't officially support this laptop (and I have not tried to install them). Are there any features of the tosh drivers worth having those for?
2. What version of display driver other P100-188 owners found on their machines?
3. What non tosh drivers have people tried?
4. Do Toshiba maintain their display drivers on the download site adequately? The offered driver would appear to be based on Forceware 83...
Hope you can help :)

Hi
As far as I know the original nVidia drivers was designed for the desktop PC graphic cards and not for notebooks. The notebooks graphic cards dont are different. There is only a nVidia chip. Because of the notebook miniaturizing the cards have no own strong cooling modules. Therefore the Toshiba graphic drivers are responsible for the graphic card performance. If the graphic card temp increases to the critical level the driver decreases the performance. Then the temperature decreases to the lower level.
The original graphic card manufacture drivers dont support such function.
I have read that some people have used a omega drivers. But you should know that the Toshiba doesnt recommend using different drivers. You should use the Toshiba own graphic driver. But if you want to use a other driver you can do that at your own risk.

  • Where can I find new display drivers for Satellite P100

    Hello,
i need new display drivers for my Notebook (Satellite P100), but it's only Version 84.0 to download.
I need version 162.0 or higher.
On Nvidia Web-Site is the new 167.0 beta, but does it work with my system?

The Toshiba graphic drivers on the Toshiba European driver page are not the same like the original graphic driver from the graphic card manufacturers.
Therefore you cannot compare the driver version numbers!
Generally the graphic driver which appears on the Toshiba page is the newest Toshiba driver.
    Best regards

  • Satellite P100-286 - Vertical lines on the screen and constant reboots

I got this P100-286 with Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS and recently the laptop started freezing with vertical lines on the screen tried different options even tried recovery cd to re-install and after installation it started doing the same. I have read similar problems in the forum and is this a common problem with Toshiba? I have spend 1500 on this and it is only 3 years old. My friends have laptops older than this almost 6 years and in good working condition.
Is there any solution or suggestion for this problem? The heat on the base of the laptop is really hot and it is like this for ages.
Any help is really appreciated after spending this much would like to last longer or it is a realibility issue with Toshiba brand.

It is happening in BIOS and even tried ubuntu on a boot cd and still having the same problem. I took to a PC servicing center they immediatly said it is a graphics card problem. The lines are comming in an external display as well. If you search in this forum you will see similar issues is reported by another user. I do think it is a genuine problem. The graphics chip is on board and it cost a lot to replace it that is what I been told.

  • What Satellite P100 series includes P100-106?

I have toshiba satellite p100-106. On the back of the machine my model is PSPADE-018010G3.
When I want to check bios version or some other software or drivers it writes under p100-106 section: what's your model PSPA0E, PSPA3E, PSPA6E. But there is no PSPADE like mine is. I've checked it 5 times and it's not 0 it's letter d on my notebook.
    What to choose?
    Thanks

    Hi
I am not 100% sure but I presume it works on this way:
Your notebook is delivered and preinstalled with Vista operating system. Your OS is complete and new. I do not believe that you will find any update in this short time. BIOS is also the latest one. Other units (Satellite P100-PSPA0, Satellite P100-PSPA3 and Satellite P100-PSPA6) are WXP units and all of them are Vista supported. Because of that there is priority to give support for those units because of Vista installation.
When new update will be available for your unit you will find it under http://pc-support.toshiba-europe.com/vista/ but at the moment there are no updates available.
What to choose? Nothing! Be happy with your new toy.

  • Re: Satellite P100-160 - Display driver installation failed

Satellite P100-160, PSPAAE, vista 32 bit,
Today Aero wasn't working and not available in graphics properties. Installed latest display driver from Toshiba UK site, Intel 15.0.1.1114. This version was actually older than my current driver but I thought that maybe as it was the only one availabel that it must be correct.
The driver install failed with an error (no details just 'an error has occurred'). Now I have no aero and my display resolution cant be set above 1280x800 - should be 1440x900
To say I am pisseed would be an understatement. Can anyone help? thanks

    Hey,
If Aero is not available I dont think its display driver problem
Anyway, have you removed the old display driver before you installed the new one? Go to device manager > right click on graphic card > uninstall. After reboot the display driver should be uninstalled and you can start with display driver installation.
If you install drivers make sure you are logged in as Administrator and antivirus/firewall is disabled. Restart once again and you should be able to choose the native screen resolution now.
    Check this!!!

  • Dualview on 2 external displays Satellite P100

I just bought a Satellite P100 to replace my desktop computer expecting that since it has two external monitor outputs I could drive two external monitors simultaneously using DualView.
It would appear that I can have either:
Internal display + DVI connector display
    or
Internal display + VGA connector display
    Is it possible to have:
DVI connector display + VGA connector display?

    Hi
In my knowledge its only possible to use one external output.
Therefore you should be able to use either the DVI output with the internal display or the RGB port (monitor port)
But its not possible to use both together DVI and RGB.

  • Displays switch around when using dual view on Satellite P100

I have a Satellite P100-434 (PSPADE). I am trying to use the laptop as the primary display and an LCD screen as a secondary monitor. I have found that no matter how I configure this, using either the Vista display properties or through the Nvidea control panel I am getting a problem where the monitors periodically swap over.
I am not bothered which device is the primary but getting the system to make it's mind up would be really usefull.
This seems to happen when I am typing, making me wonder if there is a keypress that I am inadvertantly triggering which is causing this to happen. Ideas anyone?

    Hi,
you should do the following things:
    - update your bios to the latest available version
    - update your display drivers and any other remaining drivers in your system to the latest available version
    - maybe, if the driver updates dont really help you out, recover your machine with the recovery media and check if the error re-appears.
IF all these steps didnt worked for you, then come back and we will discuss it further. :)

  • Toshiba e-Studio 3040c continues printing from other sources

    Hello Together
In our company we got beside other printers a Toshiba 3040c E-Studio.
It prints and works basically fine, but we've got the issue that if one paper source is empty, it continues printing from the other sources, even when there are other paper set there.
The one point in the webinterface with: "Change paper source automatically" is set to NO so it theoretically it should continue printing.
Any suggestions what i can try next?
    Thank you for your adived
    Erik

    Did you solve this issue?
Im asking because this forum community talks about Toshiba digital products like notebooks, tablets and TVs
I doubt that you will find here some printer device experts.
However, I recommend checking this Toshiba page for printer product information and specifications

  • Satellite P100-202: problems with screen again

Hello everyone! I'm posting about a problem with my Toshiba P100-202's screen. I recently posted in the thread "Satellite P100-202: screen will freeze" and my current problem is actually quite similar to what is explained in the thread "Satellite P100-119: display doesn't work anymore". Here's my story, hoping that someone will be able to help me avoid having to send the computer to a technician:
After my previous problem I decided to get my screen replaced. Everything seemed fine, apart from on occaisonal instances, especially when I was using the program "Internet Explorer", in which the screen would sort of restart, ie. everything went black for a few seconds (music etc. however would continue) and then (boom) everything would reappear, sometimes in ultra-zoom for a second or two. The computer (operating system=Windows 7) would report "problem with NVIDIA graphics driver", and then operations would continue normally. This happened several times, although not frequently, and I wasn't too worried about it. And then, a few days ago, I was using the newest release candidate of Internet Explorer 9, and the screen blacked out, and my music continued, and I thought "OK, no problem", and then a few seconds passed, and then the music stopped (and I was thinking "uh-oh"), and then... the blue screen of death.
OK, no panic, restart, but of course there's no welcome note, no nothing, just a blank screen which with the backlights still working created an ominous greyish hue. And then suddenly the mouse appeared, followed by the entire display, so I unwisely dismissed the incident. Ten minutes later, same thing, and this time not even the blue screen of death as consolement, just the grey nothingness.
A few days of rest, a quick dusting of the battery compartment, but no, even though I believe the operating system is working fine (caps lock light works and little hums and whirrs occur as usual), there is no question about the fact that the screen does not work.
PS. Sorry if my post is too long and no, I do not have access to an external display!!
While I'm at it, is anyone able to explain why a 25-minute lasting battery can take hours or even days to charge?

Thanks for your super-fast reply, as***! Unfortunately I fell asleep just before you posted. Anyway, indeed I was not expecting a manual fix to be available, so I'll see if I can find the installation disk in my ocean of cd-roms, and if that doesn't work I'll call up on a mechanic, see what they say (nowadays the most common answer is "rien faire", however I have a half-friend in the job who might be able to elaborate further), and in the event, give up on this one and go and buy a brand new and - as they now all are - webcam equipped laptop or netbook as you call them (and preferably not a Toshiba, either, unless you can convince me that 1. The battery no longer lasts a mere third-of-an-hour after three years of usage and 2. The screens are built to last a good ten years). After all, I've always been unlucky with electronics. The problem is however, how will I get all my files moved, knowing that the best form of back-up I have is a long-lost USB key?
PS. Keep me updated if you get any more information on a possible immediate cure!

  • Satellite P100-221 NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 TV-Out problem

hi , i have Toshiba Satellite P100-221 , with NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS , it has a tv-out (S-video) , i got the cable & connected it & nothing appears on TV , & when i go to Settings-Advanced & see the options of the video card , i found nothing related to changing the display to the TV or anything....
When i searched in the Manual , i found all the explanation based on NVIDIA GeForce Go 7500 :(
I also tried Fn+F5 & choose the TV also nothing happens , knowing also that the cable i got is from one side S-video , & from the other side just normal video-in cable
    Plz help
    & thx alot

    Hi,
I solved this problem yesterday, I used low quality cable and it work fine. I was using very high quality cable and it was not working. I think it is because of the quality of the signal the high quality cable required a strong signal. By the way I I connected the low quality S-Video cable and it shows low quality picture on the TV but after I activate the TV out and it was shown on the TV I switched to the high quality cable and it gave me better picture quality.

  • Trying to get HD-DVD drive to work on Satellite P100-463

    Hi everybody.
I bought this baby on the weekend and since I am struggeling trying to get HD-DVD to work on it. I added the xbox 360 HD_DVD drive but the Power DVD Software Advisor keeps telling that the graphic card 9Geforce Go 7900) drivers need to be updated in order to play HD-DVD content. Now, there is no newer driver available as the one installed (84.0?)
Can anybody please advise if the card supports hdcp protection anyways? Maybe my problem has another source.
    Thanks for advice.

Wait do you use the drive designed for the Xbox in the Satellite P100?
Hmm, Im surprised that this device is compatible with the Toshiba notebook.
Anyway, as far as I know you need a special DVD software player to play and watch HD-DVD on the notebook.
A simple WinDVD does not support the new HD-DVDs.
By the way: I know one Toshiba model that was delivered with the HD_DVD drive.
It was a Qosmio G30 DVD HD Model.
I found in the driver download section on the Toshiba site a new update of Nvidia GeForce Go7600 graphic card driver Version 8.3.2.7
But I dont know if its compatible with you card...

  • Graphic performance on Satellite P100-191

I've bought the Satellite P100-191 notebook yesterday, but I've experienced some extreme performance problems right from the start. I only reinstalled the standard display driver (Forceware 84.00 from Toshiba) and changed some Windows settings (uninstalled programs, services etc.).
After running 3D Mark !2003! I get the result of about 6000 3D Marks, which is the half of what this notebook should normally achieve. I've got the feeling that there could be a problem with the heat, because the bottom of the notebook gets VERY warm and the performance continues to decrease the longer the system is running (down to less than 1 FPS). But since I don't have much experience with notebooks I can't say if that's the correct conclusion or if there's just a "wrong" setting in the BIOS or somewhere.
So, I hope anyone of you can help me so that I can soon enjoy working and playing properly with the P100-191.
    THX

Probably you have to change the power management for the graphic card. In the setting for your graphic card you can switch into various power modes. Turn the graphic card to full power. Than you get the best result in 3d mark 2000x.
Also in your BIOS you can switch the cooling management from silent into performance mode.

  • Satellite P100-347 - nVidia drivers up to date?

Can Toshiba support please fix some up to date vista drivers for:
    Satellite P100-347...(pspa6e)
this should be up to date at Toshiba`s homepage, because the drivers on
nvidia.com don`t work on my Toshiba notebook....
    Thnx

It is well known that drivers downloaded from graphic card manufacturers support pages cannot be installed on mobile computers. Every notebook manufacturer must be sure that display driver will work well on specific notebook model and will not force graphic card to run on maximum level.
I hope you can understand why notebook manufacturers do this.
Anyway you can just hope that your message will be read by Toshiba support department. ;)

  • Instant shutdown and reboot on Satellite P100-347

My satellite P100-347 keeps shutting down instantly then restarting. Any solutions becuase its still new and very expensive for a replacement.

    Hi there,
it seems your machine is overheating and then it makes a shutdown because of hardware security reasons.
You said it happened when playing NFS carbon, this is a good sign for a heat problem of cpu/vga.
I suggest you to clean your fan and your cooling system, because when its clobbed with dust the system can not be properly cooled and it has to shutdown to prevent severe damage to your precious hardware. Just take a can with compressed air and clean your cooling system (but be gently, otherwise you will damage the fan which transport the air which is heated from cpu/vga)
Just a question: which drivers are installed for your vga? Do you have the original toshiba display drivers? If not, then the problem is self explaining because the timings of the original drivers from nvidia/ati are not suitable for mobile computers.

  • Satellite P100 (PSPA6A) - White screen, freezes then restarts by itself

    Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite P100(PSPA6A) and am running Windows XP on it. Over the past month, I have had a problem with my computer where the screen turns white, it then freezes and restarts by itself.
I have taken it to a computer store to get it checked out but they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I have tried to find if any programs are the source of this problem but I have not been able to find any. My computer can be on for 10hrs before this problem occurs and it can be on for about 5mins before this probelm occurs. It can also happen during the windows loading screen before it reaches the welcome screen. If this helps, there is a slight delay from when the screen turns white and when it freezes (I have music playing in the background on several occasions where the music was still playing for a few seconds while the screen was white, and then it froze and restarted).
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi!
Did you already check the RAM by yourself using Memtest86 as Boarder suggested? I mean Memtest86 is really great for testing the RAM and if there is a problem, Memtest86 should find it.
Furthermore I would recommend checking the HDD. Therefore you can use Drive Fitness Test and Google is your friend to find it.
    This program is also freeware.
In worst case you should go to an authorized service provider. Maybe its a problem of the mainboard or CPU and this can be checked from a notebook technician.
    Bye
